I think we’ll be assured of a continuation of the police state if the Dems…all of them, really stick to their guns about not prosecuting the Bushies.
Last night Johnathon Turley was saying on Maddow that the Dems seem to not have the guts to prosecute…and now, I’m thinking neither does anyone else in the world.

Remember? JT was talking about the bright line around war crimes. And that Bush wasn’t going to pardon anyone in that scenario because he didn’t think there would be prosecutions. If that’s the case, America is OVAH as a democracy.
Remember, Obama still has all the unitary executive power Bush accrued and he hasn’t said anything about straightening that out. Clinton mentioned it, Obama didn’t.

Lieberman support was always tepid in the state of steady habits. I was pretty sure of that. Remember those who were for Lamont were pretty boisterous with the signs and what not. Those for “Vote Joe” were often pretty tepid, or just rabid republikans, or so-called “friends.”

I got a letter in the Washington Post on Sat…..I am appalled that Joe Lieberman was not thrown out of HOMELAND SECURITY Comm. Chairmanship…geeze.
LBJ would have had him boiled in OIL. This man went so far over the line in kissing McCain on the whowhoooo that he should have been exiled..the lesson would have been invigorating and even if he had bolted there are Republicans who want to cooperate with the new administration. In the Nov. 21 Connecticut Post, there is an editorial page roundup of letters headlined, “Taking stock of Lieberman’s status.” I find it hard to believe the editors did not receive one letter in support of U.S. Sen. Joseph I. Lieberman worthy of printing. Instead, there were letters from people, fangs exposed like rabid animals, ready to attack the senator for his support of the Republican ticket this fall and a war he feels is worth fighting.

Their reply:

Editor’s Note: Indeed, at the time of the roundup of letters pertaining to Senator Lieberman’s problems with the Senate’s Democratic caucus, the Post had not received a single letter in support of his position.

Republicans are deep in the minority now, and by their behaviour after the election, they seem determined to stay there, and I think Joe sees that. He also might be pissed at the GOP for not letting him be McCain’s VP choice. And Joe can’t switch the Senate majority now, so he’s kissing the butt of the party in charge.

Or, if we were discussing someone who is not demented. The Democrats continue to believe they are dealing with honest Americans and they keep getting the football pulled away just before they can kick it down the field. Damn. Foiled again.

Wake up–we are being killed here and nobody will stop it. Who wins? Try the Saudis or the Chinese or every bank in America or H. Paulson or all the criminals in the Bush administration who will never face prosecution. Laws? What laws? They don’t need any stinking laws.

That just sounds out of character to me, but I guess most of his betrayals have come while a Republican has been in the White House, and when a Republican at least theoretically had a chance to get into the White House.

He’s just sucking up. He’s knows where his bread is buttered now. And if he forgets, he can always join the Republicans in the minority. Joe doesn’t want to be there.
