What gets me about this race is there are no signs of moderation from Chambliss. He is up in the poles by 3-5% from what I can tell. I would think that anyone who is so close to losing would not be running these types of ads. Democrats in Georgia routinely run closer to republicans when they are in close elections but republicans here don’t even attempt to moderate their views. Instead they go deeper and deeper into their base.

“Retarded” and “Crackers”. Interesting. I’m down here in Retarded, Cracker Georgialand, donating my dollars to Jim Martin, writing editorials to my newspaper, making phone calls - everything I can to help defeat Saxby Shameless (as some of us Crackers like to call him). We are having a runoff down here with Chambliss getting a little over 49% and Jim Martin garnering a little over 46% and I’m referenced as ‘Retarded’ and a ‘Cracker’. Looks to me like we’re moving at least a little more to the center. Give us some credit. Sheeesh.

Okay, so these votes are 15-20 years old and I want to know the context to pushback against it.
These will be effective for the low information voters. They’ll just see this and it reaffirms their support for the slimeball.

These kind of ads backfired big time on Liddy Dole in NC. Part of the reason, IMO, was that Hagan fired right back at Liddy in the press, and in an ad.

Hopefully, Jim Martin will do the same.
