Obama is opening possibilities with his cabinet choices, the selection of Clinton may mean a push for peace in the Middle East. Oh, and Lieberman is still a disaster.
Way to go Jane!

About Firedoglake
Jane!!!! Fantastic job this morning, as usual!
thanks egregious !
and yes oldnslow, her blue eyes are gorgeous ;>
The more our message gets out, the more people will understand that ‘nice bipartisan Joe Lieberman’ is a lying, weasling, boot licking Rethug in disguise.
Oh, good show! brava! Jane, you are an awesome spokesperson for us pajama-clad basement dwellers!
Well done Jane, though I don’t share your optimism on the Palestine-Israel disaster.
Nice screen shot of Christy & Pull Up a Chair at the end!
Yes, keep pointing out Lieberman did not do his job, and millions of dollars are still unaccounted for.
Um…I’m going to have to wait for a transcript. But, I’m sure she did great.
Did you know that there’s a bill somewhere that online videos must be captioned? Another hopeful sign.
I said it downstairs and I’ll repeat it here. Lieberman won a battle, but he’s going to lose the war. Let’s see if he gets asked tomorrow about the inaction of his committee. He may have to swear off interviews.
Exactly.
digg
Thanks so much for posting this! A Thanksgiving tradition in my family is to enumerate all the things for which we are grateful. I am so very grateful for this site. And I’m hitting the paypal button now!
THe pumpkin pie and Christy too on the screen!
Thanks egregious.
Brokow ask Short Ride about his incompetence? That’ll be the day.
I’m so proud of Jane! Thanks, eg.
Sorry no captions yet, here’s the youtube link though.
but WHO will ask Lieberman those questions? certainly not azzhats like Chris Matthews
good job Jane
WFT?
clinton at SoS signals peace in the ME? THAT makes less than no sense to me. and was, i thought, thoroughly debunked.
where is that idea coming from?
Great job Jane. I would like to see progress in the middle east but that is not going to happen until the US tells Isreal enough.
http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/27801489/
of course i should have first mentioned that as per usual jane did a great job on joe short-ride.
That woman who can’t pronounce Jane’s name correctly, the one on the left with the helmet hair creeps me out. You could hear the disgust dripping, as she was saying “liberal bloggers’ or “lefty bloggers”.
Jane was sensational.
Asked about his inaction? From Brokaw?
I’m thinking they might. The election is over. What else are they going to talk about other than his reconciliation with the dems?
Had a hard time with the “fire” in firedoglake as well. Where do they get these people?
caption legistlation sponsored by Congressman Ed Markey
am new to the transcription thing – gimme a minute and let me see what I can come up with for ya
Lest we forget. 22 Nov 1963.
And so many years later to lose the little boy we saw saluting as his father passes.
Jane Hamsher of Firedoglake.calm
Jane, great, great job!
“too afraid to give their name” LMAO.
“Cabinet versus the Senate”
You nailed JoeLie, “didn’t investigate (1)Katrina, (2) graft at Homeland Security.” Another bullseye.
HRC/Diplomacy (”not usually in the same sentence,” lmao) Middle East, clout, international relationships. Strongly agree.
Maybe they’ll even show Jane’s clip. (Now, I’m really in fantasy-land).
I believe that Jane has become the spokesperson of the dreaded “Liberal Blogosphere”. We couldn’t present a better face to the public, either. May the Lieberliar answer for his sins soon, like tomorrow AM.
The Israeli Settlers in Hebron are doing their part to push the peace process along by defacing mosques and cemeteries there.
i nominate jane for sec. of blogs.
a little subliminal love emanating from that shot, to be sure.
Clinton to State? Is Mid-East Peace Back On The Table?
more here from democracy now! yesterday:
Jane rocks.
Gosh, Jane sounds so Sensible. Good job of not letting the Helmut Head portray us as pajama wearing loons.
And, I agree that Obama has to pick people with actual experience. Really, that’s how it is.
And, yes I got a kick out of seeing Christy’s face and the pie too! Thought I was above that, but we are family after all.
that was a great interview, jane is becomming quite the pundit
I LOVED how she plain and simple called lieberman and extension of cheney, that was GREAT!
Actually Brokaw will prolly ask lieberlenslouse just so Pal Joey can make up some preposterous gibberish which Brokaw will totally not challenge…
Meanwhile, down in Peru, dangerously still-President Bush speakin’…what’s he trying to muck up now? Hasn’t he done enough damage to the globe?
Why does Dubya hate God’s children?
LOL Exactly. Jane is definitely the calm wind in the shit storm!
that was the link i gave too. argument was debunked in the comments. makes no sense at all – not saying that clinton couldn’t do it, only that that her nomination in no way sends that signal.
Sort of OT. What the hell is Bill going to do all day if Hillary gets SOS? No charity work, no foreign speaking. What’s he going to do?
what? you’re not in the basement in pjs?
She had trouble with Hilly, Fardoglake.com, and liberal loggers, too.
Alex Witt: New reports that Hilary Clinton will give up her NY Senate seat and accept the nomination for Secretary of State. Even though her selection is still set to be formalized, the NYT said, an announcement will be made sometime after Thanksgiving. A spokesman for Clinton says, the discussions are very much on track for her appointment as SoS but no final arrangement has been made. And some of Barack Obama’s choices are inciting grumbling from the liberal blogosphere. The New York Times writes today Obama’s cabinet picks suggest he is planning to govern from the right center of his party. And many leftie bloggers who are credited with promoting Obama’s candidacy are worried that once in office, Obama may turn his back on them. Jane Hamsher, founder of Firedoglake.com and she joins us this morning. Good morning to you Jane!
Jane: Good morning, how are you?
A: I’m well thanks and I hope you are too but I have to ask this question which might upset you a bit – why are liberal bloggers so concerned Obama may abandon them?
Israel has now banned reporters and human rights activists from Gaza
http://www.stopdebezetting.com…..vists.html
Does anyone in Southern Cal have a basement? Well, maybe a few. As to the pjs, Eureka Springs, wangdangdoodle and I only blog nekkid when it’s really really hot!
there is not much time left to capture that area. isolate and attack before 012009 is a possibility.
Good Morning EG,
Yeah, that got it going in a fair way, didn’t it? Silly her. Didn’t work, though, did it?
well, yer brakin the mold. supposed to be unwashed, as well. sounds like you are not much of a follower. good fer ya.
The Israelis let her keep her cell phone and she did the interview from the prison. Amazing.
I listened twice more. She’s slurring badly on a couple of occasions, I was scared she was going to pull a Mukasey, or, the hangover is extremely painful…
But I mostly listened and looked at Jane. Her demeanor is so poised, coupled with this energy, this glow that emanates from her. Then it hit me, she looks like she owns the commentator, and in a good way, because, it is a fact, she owned her.
This is quality criticism, not a debunking:
If you’re a U.S. Senator from New York, Dennis Ross makes sense. If Obama got JoLie to really help use his influence along with Hillary’s to move the two-state solution along, we’ve got a chance.
As oil revenues fall, the Palistinians have a lot more incentive to deal. That’s not fair, they’ve gotten killed over the last forty-years, but that’s the reality.
Yes, I know, but thanks for the link.
Jane: Well, I think the problem people that are seeing right now is that the people he is appointing to his cabinet positions are very much not in line with what he promised when he was running. He was running against the Clintons at that time and the message was ‘Let’s get the Clintons out of Washington DC’ and now many of the people he’s appointing to his cabinet are ex-Clintonistas. I think some people are more bothered than others, people who can’t extricate themselves from the primary wars, but other people, such as myself, see that, you know, who’s he going to appoint? These are the people who have experience in Washington DC, and we’re just more looking forward hopefully to the idea that with Hilary Clinton as Secretary of State, hopefully that signals that maybe Mid-East peace is going to be on the table again.
AW: Ok. I’m gonna actually read from your own blog there on Firedoglake.com and here’s what you wrote…
Jane: That could be dangerous!
Great to have your intelligent, progressive, right human relations, voice heard! You look marvelous! Next year at this time will be hopefully watching a weekly report from ‘The Jane Factor’ on MSNBC.
What a big difference listening to some one who actually cares about improving our lives rather than the endless ignorant and self serving GOP neo-con talking points put out by Turd Blossom and the Bushies…
Thank you. I’ll get the transcript eventually. It’ll show up somewhere. Lurve the first question. Let’s set up a controversy.
The difference between doing something for big bucks and doing something because you believe in it stands out.
that will teach em not to try and set her up. jane didn’t fall fer it.
My manners suck, good morning Egregious. Thanks for this, my basic cable excludes MSNBC.
“If a man loses the pace with his companions, perhaps it is because he hears a different drummer.”
I blame my outlook on whichever english teacher first taught me Thoreau.
great concept. don’t care much for the name tho. got sometin more creative?
Well said, thank you.
she actually listens to the questions and answers them.
again – i’m not saying that there is no chance or that clinton couldn’t do it. my claim is that nominating clinton for SoS does not send any special signal that a viable peace deal is going to be pushed. bmaz used the common, but false narrative of oslo, the clinton era and clinton’s negotiations to support his idea. iirc, every bit of bmaz’s argument for why clinton at SoS signals a push for an ME peace deal was challenged and bmaz offered no response other than a bit of defensiveness about unrelated matters. i’m pretty sure that the clintons (and especially dennis ross) are not seen as fair dealers by palestinians or by israeli peace activists. the israeli hawks may love them, but how that signals peace is beyond me – would love an explanation.
OT- from NYT’s:
Seems to me Jane was trying to squash Alex Witt with her eyelashes. Anyone else notice this? LOL
Earth Drum
lady in the lake? fdl jane?
i don’t think this is right – my guess is that the people who are most bothered are the people are progressives first and dems second.
Yep! More, more, more! Jane is the perfect representation for liberals/progressives online and on our televisions. ;-)
that happened to someone i worked with. he had two cell phones and they only took one. it was a good thing, because when he got dumped late at night on a settler road he could call for help.
I really must try to figure out why youtube is not working on this machine. I will check it out on the lap top (currently being used by Mr. Demi) later.
Thanks SD.
Have I told you lately that I love a well read person? Oh, yes, that was yesterday.
((Southern dragon))
agreed. she didn’t have the time to expand in that format.
Yes, “real America” peeking up from out of the Lake. It made me smile, too!
yeah – and if she’d tried, it would have eaten into the time she had to explain why lieberman is both despised and deserves to be. i’m glad she chose to focus on lieberman.
Alex Witt: Uh yeah it’s gonna be good. Regarding a quote from MSNBC that you were watching, asked what it would mean if Lieberman kept his chairmanship, one Senate Democrat aide said bluntly, “The left has been foiled again. They can rant and rage, but they still do not put the fear in folks to actually change their votes, their influence would be in question. So I guess, the question of the influence of liberal bloggers, if they have an unrealistic view of the importance they hold.
Jane: Well obviously we scared that person quite a bit, because they were too afraid to give their name. But I think that what the question of Lieberman doesn’t have to do with the cabinet appointments that Obama is making, so much as the decision that the Senate is making. And I think that is of quite a bit of concern. Rather than opting for true change, which would have meant putting Joe Lieberman, Dick Cheney, George Bush influence out of office, they decided for the optics of change, sort of kumbaya politics. But Joe Lieberman himself didn’t investigate Katrina, because the Republicans didn’t want him to, he overlooked graft to the tune of fifteen billion dollars in Homeland Security that Henry Waxman rooted out that he refused to investigate. So I think there is concern that we’re gonna have the same ol’ same ol’ Bush administration with Lieberman there. But people are hoping that there’s a larger agenda that Joe Lieberman won’t be able to sabotage, that Barack Obama is going to go for. I think people are still very much on his side and want to see him do great.
Alex Witt: Ok…
me too. we ain’t done with that piece of excrement.
Yes, yes and yes.
G’ Morning Selise.
Dream Catcher
interesting perspective from david sirota:
Geez, it was sooo obvious that Jane is way smarter than her interviewer. Jane came across as reasonable, level-headed, and astute. She did not come across as rash, irrationally militant, or as an empty-headed rabble-rouser. She is an extremely good and thoughtful representative of the left side of the blogosphere. Why, to hear her talk, you’d never even guess we’re all a bunch of dfhs! Good job, Jane!
Great appearance, Jane! Well done! Keep ‘em “Lieberman aware”, lest they ignore him.
Thank you, egregious. That took a lot of effort, and I appreciate it.
Have been to many many ceremonies on the Pine Ridge and Rosebud Reservations. Once I marveled to an elder how much the children were in tune with and appreciated the drum beat. I was told that the drum beat is a reflection of the heartbeat.
morning demi!
bread making today. ecahn sent me some of her homemade jam. i think it deserves something special to go with it.
Excellent, Jane! I look forward to when bloggers are
part ofthe panels of conversation on the nets–MTP, Face, Snuffy…let’s get real instead of potemkin past, please.[the strikeout was irresistible]
loved this bit!
Alex Witt: Ok, um, let’s um… [desperately consults notes for some question that will stop the unstoppable JH] bloggers with their concerns with the choice for Secretary of State, because there was, I guess, no love lost in terms of foreign policy creds between the two when they were both candidates, Barack Obama and Hilary Clinton, during the campaign. What are you hearing from bloggers on that front?
Jane: I think people are realistic, they understand that campaign rhetoric and actual governance can be two separate things. You know, Hilary Clinton and diplomacy aren’t really two things that people think of in the same sentence. Yet, at the same time, Obama’s got no greater challenge before him that what happens in the Middle East. Over at emptywheel’s blog, what a great post, about how Hilary Clinton – nobody has quite the clout, the relationships, the international capital to be able to go in and perhaps push both the Israelis and the Palestinians into some kind of agreement. And that could have an effect that ripples throughout the Middle East and to our economy. Europeans and Americans are putting untold amounts of our money there that could be alleviated if there was some kind of peace there. So I think that Hilary Clinton going into that job signals that this is going to be a priority for the Obama administration.
Alex Witt: Ok. Firedoglake.com founder Jane Hamson..Hamsher rather, thank you for joining us here on MSNBC Saturday.
Thanks for bringing up the lack of Katrina investigations…again!
It is very much appreciated Jane!
PS. I hope you are feeling swimmingly these days!
egregious is a blog treasure!
thanks. wonderful culture. simple people. peaceful.
Oh, how beautiful. That one worked. Do you have through the toobz vision? I have a dream catcher hanging in my bedroom. I suppose you remember I play the flute.
Saving your gift for moments when I need calm.
No turkeys were harmed during the making of this video. Thank you Jane.
I’m getting hungry.
I have several slices of home made zucchini bread with nuts that my mothers bought me when I took her to a holiday boutique yesterday.
I put them up the counter, right here, for anyone one wants one.
I’m grateful for fdl friends.
Yes. I can feel it from my toes on up. Gonna get myself a flute for my b-day.
A number of their tunes on utoobz. Very nice.
True, the turkey wasn’t harmed, only miffed.
Great job Jane!
I have mixed feelings about Hills at SoS
Likud will never allow Arabs to live in peace…NEVER.
They have no desire whatsoever to do anything other than create Eretz Israel, and THAT is the assignment of Joe Lieberman and ever other agent of Israel working inside the US government structure.
Period. End of Story. Case closed.
ALL talk of peace in the Middle East by anyone associated with AIPAC or the ADL is a smoke screen.
LOL
When you watch Earth Drum be sure to notice the young boy and the bear cub towards the end.
It’s worked for 60 years and there is no reason to believe it won’t work for another 60 years (or more). Slo mo ethnic cleansing & degrading of the Palestinian population so that demographic arguement is irrelevant.
Neat, a blogger on tv on a blog!
Joe Must Go!
WORD
Are you talking wooden flute?
I have an extra silver one that I would send you for your b-day, if that’s the direction you wanted to go, but it would be a little harder to learn.
okay, but how to keep it from an all out war? or do you think that would be best?
Heartbeat Drum Song
You could hear the disgust dripping, as she was saying “liberal bloggers’ or “lefty bloggers”.
hey – it’s daytime MSNBC.
where “liberal” is no longer a serious enough pejorative to hang on us – thus the ever-growing shift to the word “lefty”.
“Lefty” – you know, like that Stalin guy….
Wooden Native American flute. My dad sent me a beautiful flute many years ago and it was stolen when my home was burglarized.
Oh, and MSNBC? you might want to have an interviewer next time who is actually professional, who keeps her own winger opinions to herself instead of hurling her disdain in every question, and who can actually pronounce the two syllable last name of the guest correctly.
Nooot “Hamson” – it’s “Ham….sher” Practice a couple of times, you’ll get it.
other than the attempted “gotcha” at the beginning, i thought it was a decent interview…
BINGO!
egregious is my hero.:)
not streaming yet but:
http://www.kuyi.net/kuyiprograms.html
Mine, too.
Have you missed the wars that are presently raging? I realize they’re not on the TeeVee, but I mean, Come on. We are in Iraq for Israel and Afghanistan for the oil industry…and allowing Israel to commit genocide at will. Did you miss the “all out war” against Lebanon for its territory and water?
Ask the Palestinians of they’re are in an “all out war ” or their very survival.
Ask the South Osettians whose family members were killed by Georgian troops trained by the CIA and Mossad if they have experienced an “all out war” recently.
As the Syrians whose family members were killed by US Blackhawks on cross border raids recently if they have experienced an “all out war.”
Ask the Iranians, who live under constant threat of nuclear attack, whether they are in an “all out war,” as the oil barons intentionally have crushed the price of oil in order to destroy their currency and cause their people to revolt.
Just because you don’t hear the talkers on the TeeVee tell you that we are in an “all out war,” doesn’t mean we’re not.
Egregious rocks.
alex twit. never, ever liked her. she ain’t so smart, is she?
I’m just gettin’ pretty damned sick of things always being cast as “conservatives” versus “lefties”.
I think that poor Ms. Witt was perturbed that Jane failed to foam at the mouth, test out that new 7-second delay at MSNBC, or at least announce the start date for The Revolution.
but good job jane. didn’t see that they gave you (or you took) any mugs like c-span. cheap bastards.
but she got nice hair. don’t she? perfect fer msnbc.
As we used to say, neato bisquito.
I have a friend who has several different sized native american wooden flutes which he plays so wonderfully. He is a Native American.
Speaking of “natives”, I know you don’t have cable, but I’m watching a wonderful show on C-Span2 Book tv right now that you can probably catch on their archived website: Marc Aronson, author of “Race” speaking to and with middle school aged students. It’s fabulous, and I think that you would really appreciate it.
hiya Jane – we were just talking about you…. *g*
Ms. Witt couldn’t wrap her head around logical thought. She is used to interviewing neocons and fundies.
There it is again. From nbcnews.com:
And, now, I’m off. See all later.
Great visuals
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JtIH4EboAlE
Be nice if they had archives.
All excellent points.
1. U.S. military policy in the last fifty years has been concerned with various Mid-East deployments about oil. Bush just trashed all of those by proving we can’t get oil out with military force. About the only strategic initiative we have left is keeping the Straits of Hormuz open and Israel can’t help with that.
2. If HRC’s selection is about I/P, it’s primarily to sell Israeli supporters in the U.S. on what’s ever going to happen. FWIW, Abraham Lincoln selected a slave owner, Andrew Johnson, as his V.P.
3. Neither Israel nor the Palestinians can survive without outside economic help, so the world-wide depression is an issue. HRC created a huge controversy as First Lady in 1998 with this “Hillary Clinton Supports a Palestinian State” . I don’t know what’s going to happen, I think it’s way too early to assume the worst.
Sara’s comments on the bmaz thread are as usual excellent.
Finally, I apologize for not reading the link in your 18. It would have saved much confusion if I had.
ya mean ya suspect her to have the empty head? they don’t pay em ta thnk, ya know.
she has beautiful hair. more perfecter for FOX. they need a blonde head over there to replace ED Hill. but the thing about witt i never liked is that she always tries to come off smart and prepared and she’s not either. like in the interview with jane (who also has nice hair), witt seemed kinda flummoxed at one point and i have no idea why. it’s not like jane dropped a bombshell or anything. i think she’d be a good replacement for ED hill
I agree that the obvious attempt to use pejorative “lefty” is annoying as shit, but Jane didn’t take the bait, and made Witt look uninformed, at best
They actually gave her air time for long thoughtful answers. They did not limit her to one question. Or stick her in a Gotcha situation, or talk over her.
They had an honest policy discussion the MSM is getting better:)
or, apparently, to speak.
Since George Bush just proved we can’t get oil out of the ME with military force, how much longer do you think we’re going to be there?
If the U.S. can’t get oil out of the ME with the use of military force, what value does Israel add to US foreign policy?
also ugly whores of stupid politicians.
and californiarealitycheck@121, methinks the hair goes on with the makeup.
Unfortunately the rightwing extremism goes to her core.
gosh, you libs sure are snarky. :)
say it’s not true. fake hair too? i am shocked.
I don’t think HRC is taking the SoS job as a stepping stone back to a job as a US Senator from New York or any other state. My guess is that she’s sees this as a chance she has earned to put her indelible stamp on the I/P conflict first and then the West’s relationship with the ME.
I think we’ll know pretty quickly what her and Obama’s intentions were. If they are for an equitable solution, it will take decades before we’ve know if they succeeded.
mary’s a pro….
Is “center right” the new drinking phrase for watching the SundyFundys?
must dig out the fixin’s for bloody Mary’s and mimosas.
Repeat a lie often enough and it will be conventional wisdom because it is “out there…” Cokie said so.
There you go thinking logically. The mission was not to “get oil out of the middle east thereby bringing the supply up and the price down. The mission was to blow up pipelines and intentionally cause mayhem in order to constrict the flow of oil from Iraq into the world market and drive the price up, thereby enriching the Rockefellers, The Crown, Queen Beatrix, The Rothchilds, and their Bilderbrg associates.
There is ample evidence across the Internet that Rumsfeld would fire the next General who raised the issue of planning for the aftermath of the invasion. The intention is not to leave Iraq. It IS our strategic petroleum reserve. It IS the extension of Eretz Israel.
We’re not leaving Iraq in a matter of months…or EVER. Obama knows that. His handlers told him so.
They can call us anything, they will call us anything its only when we run from a label do we look afraid. The GOP demonized liberal, they demonized feminist, they tried to demonize Hussein Obama this time we don’t run from labels.
Someone calls me Liberal nope I’m worse I’m a Lefty I take pride in their attempt to insult me. How many bloggers changed their name to Hussein in support of Obama? I think that worked very well.
I was thinking about it but my name is to long already.
Just as I suspected. DHFs actually represent a center-right point of view. ;>)
Nice job. Who is that woman?
The Jewish vote.
That sounds like the economy is doing great Bush/McCain economic policy
Folks say, “You’re a librul.” I say, “No, I’m hard core left.”
and the christian vote.
thanks. senator clinton caught a lot of grief for her 1998 statement and had been a real hawk as a senator and especially during her primary campaign. but more than that, unfortunately i think her image is affected by what occurred during bill clinton’s presidency (don’t think either clinton would be trusted again by most palestinians).
certainly a hawk would be a good choice to put pressure on the israelis, i just don’t see any reason to assume that’s what her nomination signals (actually the opposite, but that’s only my personal take). but this is all about the signals a nomination makes and not what policy directions will really be taken.
I donate $10/month to FDL. How much do you give?
True but they only support Israel because they want Jesus to come back and convert or kill the Jews, why Jews accept this kind of support is beyond me.
It would be like the Klan supporting Obama and Obama accepting. How an observant Jew like Joe does it is beyond me.
I say Lefty myself:)
I wish Jane would have put a cork in her labels ‘you liberals’, bloggers and lefties while the rest of the opinion-less middle minority in the party are always called Democrats.
But I and millions of other may disagree entirely, but respectfully, with Janes’ and bmaz’s view that Clinton would be great for the Middle East. Look at her votes for fu**’s sake. Name one policy where in her short career she showed any respect for both sides of the issue. Hillary and Obama were almost equal generally except for the marked split in that category. And you saw the split most visible in the Democratic party itself. The hard-liners sided with her.
Both the press and her supporters even covered the truth of her Bosnian flubs. She wasn’t there in an official capacity. She was sent there by Bill solely to calm down the troops who justhad their deployments extended weeks before their Christmas leave.
Now my homeboy bmaz correctly spoke to Bill Clinton’s diplomatic prowess. But to just slide Hillary in as his equivalent is wrong, plus it’s sneaky and unfair.
If you look at her votes, you see her slanted ideology clearly. In all things related to war and peace Hillary Clinton is another Donald Rumsfeld -in drag.
First Obama is a Socialist then he wins so of course he has to be Center Right because the Left can’t win.
America however supports our views on the issues Washington and the MSM press are to the right of the majority of voters.
I think just being able to talk like Jane did shows that we are normal folks. We are not the demons Rush Limbaugh makes us out to be.
We need more interviews like that, we need Jane and company on the sunday political shows.
We control the label’s value I would much prefer to be a Lefty than a Bushy. The Lefty blogs raised tons of cash for Obama. Cash is lifeblood in politics lets see Rush Limbaugh or George Will the people who demonize us raise that kind of cash for their people.
The GOP is scared of us. Jane noted the leaker did not leave a name.
You may be interested in a statement once blurted out on the McLaughlin show by the mega-wealthy Mort Zuckerman, generally a very respected and moderate voice in politics. When that same subject of ‘America wants to control all the oil’ came up in discussion, he instantly dismissed it by saying “it’s the wealth from the oil, stupid”.
The good ol’ boy call of “keep ‘em poor, barefoot and stupid”, has now gone global. And oh, only they get to do the impregnating. HA!
Fabulous Jane. Articulate, knowledgeable, smashing. The interviewer seemed chagrined that you didn’t foam at the mouth.
The TradMed backed and backs Bush and the GOP to the hilt, especially on Iraq. They don’t like to admit error. I’m sure they were hoping that they could use Jane’s own appearance and bearing to marginalize her as a crazy-assed hippie chick, but she didn’t exactly cooperate in that regard. :-)
Self-controlled, intellegent, articulate, reasonable and classy.
Webster’s definition of Jane…
Great. Obama’s not even sworn in yet and already our progressive bloggers are bitching.
Worse, MSM is picking up on the theme that lefty bloggers are already pissed about Obama, therefore giving credence to rightwing bullshit about Obama’s election.
Obama will have a tough enough job correcting our economy and government while fighting the rightwingers. I thought us progressives would at least support Obama for awhile.
Just because we got him elected does not mean we are supposed to be telling him how to do his job. We voted for change. Now that he’s trying to enact the change we voted for….bloggers and commenters are bitching because it’s not the “right kind of change”.
What the hell are we going to do when he actually takes office? Demand that he sit when we say “sit” and rollover when we say “rollover”???
That’s not change we can believe in.
Alex Witt is a horrible “interviewer” and a ditz – to boot.
Guess that’s why they put her on during the weekends.
Very sloppy work on her part.
Jane did a Great Job!!!
Fantastic appearance Jane.
You rejected the opportunity to present the concerns as a crisis and, you distinguished yourself from the extreme position, and you stated the issues clearly by connecting back to Obama’s campaign values and making reasonable inferences about what current Obama and Senate’s decisions indicate.
We have earned a center left administration, not a center right administration that the losers would like you to believe is America.
By the way, great job nailing Sanctimonious Joe on substantive issues that every American can agree puts Joe’s interests and George Bush’s interests above the American people’s interests at a substantial cost to the American people.
Obama won with 53% of the popular vote.
As far as HRC’s hawkishness, it’s obvious from her record on the Middle East that came from her role as a US Senator from New York. Please see my comment 128.
Will she revert back to where she was as First Lady? I don’t know, that’s a good question. Simply omitting from your analysis that she was a Senator from the state that took the biggest hit on 9/11, however doesn’t really help your credibility.
I read Firedoglake, but have not signed in to comment until now. But I just had to sign in to comment for the first time after seeing Jane Hamsher’s appearance on MSNBC.
Jane did an absolutely fantastic job, particularly on dispelling the talking points about Lieberman. I thought that Kos did a great job the other day (also on MSNBC?) and could not be topped, but I must say Jane topped it. By emphasizing Lieberman’s blockage in investigating Katrina and investigating the graft involved in Homeland Security.
Bravo, Jane! Excellent work!
Oh, cut the 9-11 New Yorker martyr crap will ya.
In your mind then 9-ll = torture, kill and maim anyone in the paths of the US or Israel, for revenge?? What does covering Israel’s ass for everything
have to do with 9-11??
More hard line propaganda.
In my Western liberal ladden town of 9500, we raised $11,000 for 9-11 victims. So keep 9-11 out of your hard-line ideology. The two are as related as the Torah is to Depleted Uranium tipped missles and child maiming cluster bomblets.
Jane..You’re becoming a “talking head”!!
Ya did good! (and looked great!)
Jane, I hate to piddle in the punchbowl, however, what makes you think that Hillary, a bought and paid for shill for AIPAC, would be considered any kind of an honest broker by any Mideast faction but the Israelis?
Also, much as I had HOPED for some semblance of change with the election of Obama, most of what he has done is to return to his administration retreads of the Clinton administration, and the most hawkish and divisive ones at that.
Hardly “Change We Can Believe”.
