Mr. Malcolm at the LA Times

I clicked on the link to read the entire story and wondered how someone could be such an idiot. Then I saw his bio: “former press secretary to Laura Bush.”

Hey Chel you know it’s kinda funny
Texas always seems so big
But you know you’re in the largest State in the Union
When you’re anchored down in Anchorage

Sources close to Palin say she will continue to study national issues–including foreign policy and national security–so that she will be in a better position to talk about them in the future.

I think that if the history is ever really known, it’s going to be shown to be a confluence of things.

Thing 1: Rummy wasn’t happy that the CIA was able to engineer what was in effect a coup d’etat in Afghanistan. In consequence, the Pentagon dragged its feet in Afghanistan as long as Rumsfeld was running things.

Thing 2: The Dim Son has Daddy issues and wanted to take out Saddam Hussein (choke — he tried to kill my daddy).

Thing 3: The Bush crime family (thanks Mike Malloy!) is in tight with the whole Clan bin Laden. You don’t kill/capture or otherwise humiliate your business partner’s kids, without really good reason. That’s especially true when your business partner’s BFFs are funding his kid and have a strangle-hold on your business.

Thus, the Dim Son doesn’t much time any more worrying about ObL. No need to, because someone made it clear to him that worrying about ObL was not in his (or his family’s) best interest.

CE:

Ph.D. Statistics for me (public school, public high school, state universities all the way.)

Ph.D. Rhetoric and Professional Comm for Mrs. BC, same deal. Public schools, public universities.

Ivies are good, but they’ve nothing on our best public universities. Not that the Ivies believe it, but their belief isn’t necessary.

I would think for several reasons that the account in the French documentary is false but with the credibility of this Administration as low as it is almost no conspiracy can be dismissed out of hand.

It was clear we let him get away at Tora Bora. But my leading hypothesis for that one is that Rummy was pissed because the CIA won the Afghan was without the DOD, and Rummy was damned if he was gonna let the military help them out at Tora Bora. Can’t wait for Rummy’s memoir to see what his version is.

But the French incident is a whole other episode.

I don’t know! But I had an interesting conversation with the lead on the crew who installed my solar panels. He was in the 82nd Airborne in Afghanistan in 2001/2002 and he recounted speaking to the Special ops guys who said the Us let Bin Laden get away on purpose! They said the Afghans were told to go after Bin Laden but they weren’t given any support from the Us. He also stated we had plenty of boots on the ground to get him ourselves but were told to stand down… After that he clammed up and wouldn’t say any more! He was glad he got out before the reverse draft kicked in!
