About Firedoglake
Morning firepups, if anyone hears who’s on CNN today, Wolf’s show or Fareed’s, let us know, OK?
Marcy’s rightfully irked that there are No Girlz Aloud
Well, at least I won’t be sitting in front of the tube today.
lol! JPL
Is it just me, or does it seem that when the nation is excited about a new administration and what their plans for the future are what we’re seeing today is heavily loaded with Republicans? Or am I just being an evil partisan?
Someone has to be the wet blanket, the damp squib. Republicans work just fine filling that gap; best gap packers available, keeps ‘em off the street. ;-)
It isn’t just you
If it’s Sunday, it’s still conservative, still.
Daily kos pundit roundup has fareed.
T-bear, “damp squib” is a new one to me, I like it.
There’s some Irish moron (apparently an ambassador) who has only a nodding acquaintance with the obvious.
On Washingtion Journal.
Why complain? a. keeps up schadenfreude. b. chance for them to irk each other. c. provides new tea leaves for dem strategist to read. d. opportunity finish up the popcorn.
as long as the subject is not appalling Palin.
Probably the bookers have yet to reprogram their speed dials. The dems are too busy booking flights to Chicago just in case. Someone in Team Transition has let out the word that they have a takeover plan for change we can believe in on Sunday am. just not yet.
Bye all. see you tmr. a.m.
Thanks BSRH

Not just Republicans, old, angry, partisans hacks with an ax to grind.
No real effort to involve any person that may be able to realistically explain the meaning and impact of the events of the past week.
I wonder why so few people actually tune in?
Oh yeah, honest to god and no shit, Newt f*#^ing Gingrich? After We the People resoundingly reject EVERYTHING this piece of shit has attempted to foist on the nation?
And Marion, CBL says no, it is not just you. Josh wrote a post about it yesterday morning. (sorry, I am somewhat link challenged)
I don’t have the volume up enough so all I hear is a brogue.
Speaking of which, did you hear this wonderful brogue-er?
Yesterday, referring to this administration and the G20, on NPR he said that nothing will be done as they were waiting for “an adult”. So that does not sound like
There are actually folks who would like to see him return as the standard-bearer of a renewed, revitalized Republican party. Hmmm… RRR party. With a bad handwriting that could look a lot like KKK…
That’s funny & clever. Thanks for the link.
Atrios sums it up:
Dang Librul media!
would it kill the Sunday Talk Shows to update and upgrade their booking rolodexii?
Think it’s exactly what I’m talking about: waiting for an adult shows slight command of the obvious. Like we didn’t know that already?
For those of us that are blessed with a brogue his voice is beautiful. Much better than the whiney american voice.
Links are easy, if you take it slow . . .
1) type your wisdom into a comment at FDL in the way you always do;
2) open a new tab/window, and bring up the item to which you want to link;
3) copy the URL from that item into your clipboard (ctrl+C);
4) go back to the FDL tab/window, highlight the text in your comment that you want to make into a link, and click on the little “chain links” icon in the bar above the box with your comment (it’s just to the left of the spell check icon);
5) in the popup box that appears, paste the URL that you copied at step three, and hit OK, and
. . . this is the important part . . .
6) use Preview to check your work (Preview is your friend), and hit “submit comment.”
That’s all there is to it!
Top of the Morning.
If Ignorance is Bliss…let me guess…YOU’RE Republican?
Actually he is well aware of the obvious but has to point it out for the american audience that he recognizes as less than intelligent.
And to you indeed.
I have heard many point out the obvious while contributing value added. This guy does not do the latter at all.
Your obvious inability to understand him is clouding your, assumed, common sense
Thank you, it’s a very nice greeting. It’s always been a favorite of mine.
If you have a newer version of Microsoft Internet Explorer (default on Windows) there is an additional step of verifying that it is “safe to use scripted windows’. This shows up as a pale yellow box at the top of the browser.
I’ve flipped to Book-TV, where they’re talking about Hegel.
Are all the libruls at church?
This could explain why there are more wingers on Sunday TV:
Unhappy People Watch TV, Happy People Read/Socialize!
Know your audience. Well, I’m back to reading before going to that barbeque later. *wink
Good Morning Elliot and Firedogs -
Fargo representin’
link
can’t wait to hear from Prairie Sunshine
Just to note: On Matthews this morning on the question of who may be the Repub voice going forward: Answer: Rush Limbaugh while the losers have time to regroup. Sorry, that’s what they said. ;)
top of the morning back to you, cbl ;)
it’s becoming a movement!
btw I love Millineryman’s graphic at his diary.
If it’s Sunday, it’s still conservative, still.
Not to say I told ya so, but…
To all of those who, flushed with victory after the 4th, rejoiced that *surely* the media would see the light, and begin to program toward the proven prevailing sentiment of the country…..nah.
There is no “news”, there are only balance sheets, bottom lines, and large corporate ownership of traditional media.
*They* liked the Bush economic (read ‘tax’) policies just fine, thank you.
They’re doubling down. Do yourselves a favor, and shut off your teevee for the next eight years.
it’s a cult. If they only knew what contempt Rush actually has for his audience.
ha!
Aw shucks thanks Elliot.
it’s a cult. If they only knew…
what contempt Rush actually has for his audience.I used the strike because I thought at that point you’d said enough, really.
‘Course you might, after the portion I struck, add the word *anything*, and that would perhaps end the sentence more correctly.
thanks Elliot ! hadn’t even seen the diaries yet.
Fabulous Millineryman. had you in mind when I linked the Fargo Protest.
200 people in ND ?!, Tulsa ?!?!?
yo Hate, get the hell out of our way !!!
there’s a whole lot over at Campaign Silo, too
true, jayt, so true
While reading all about the event’s yesterday I saw someone post a story about a protest in southwest Idaho, and how a group of people turned out.
Join The Impact is offically a movement. The organizers are taking advantage of what’s transpired over the past 10 days or so and are moving forward with it.
What I don’t like about the morning shows (besides the conservative slant) is that they focus too much on the political angle. If an issue is discussed (such as the auto industry) it’s only discussed as a dem vs repub issue. Obama hasn’t even been inaugurated and they’ve begun to talk about 2012 already?
I have the same gripe about MSNBC. Nobody even talks about Iraq in an informative way. The only issue they discuss is the political angle. What’s going on over there? Shouldn’t we know more.
a movement indeed. am so relieved and happy for ALL of us.
my two managers have been together 32 years. and the one with the day off went to the Austin event yesterday – said he hadn’t done anything publicly in over 20 years
MIssoula in the house !!! love the “I’m a little bit country . . .”
thanks for the linkfest Elliot !
yeah, just like the campaign was only a horse race.
Good morning everyone….. did I count right…. Only 3 Democrats this week?
And your right Elliott no women…… it has always been pretty much white men mostly repugs…..
No fair and balanced on the Sunday shows….
it’s pathetic, isn’t it? I love marcy’s “No Girlz Aloud” tho
we should all email the shows, I have the contact links in the post *g*
Maybe all they’ve got in the Roladex are right wingers…I mean, during the last eight years, they probably pulled everyone else out, so they don’t know where to find anyone. Or something…
And, why do I see Tom Friedman 100x more than I see Krugman?
Maybe we should come up with a memo to these guys and put a list of people we’d really like to hear from with their contact info on it and send it around…just as a little ‘reminder’?
That moron is John Bruton, former Taoiseach (Prime Minister) of Ireland. It was his office that the Northern Ireland peace process was started and IIRC the “Good Friday” Accords were reached. He was replaced by Bertie Ahern and given official status in Brussels, hence the Ambassador of EU to US. He could close the eyes on a spud.
Friedman’s on a book tour.
his neverending book tour, and this will only get worse now that his wife’s family trusts tanked.
One thing I find intriguing about Obama is his use of technology for reaching people. His YouTube of his weekly address was a good step forward, and it could be a way marginalizing the talking heads.
By bringing his message directly to the people it doesn’t get filtered, and it doesn’t play access game.
good idea
more Krugman to start.
and higher IQ’s all around.
Glad to hear of Bruton’s accomplishment. Diplomats often talk in cliches and add nothing to the discussion. I have no patience for that, if that was what he was doing. I switched to Book-TV where Charles Taylor is talking in an opaque way (it’s his forte; I actually cited a book of his in a report) about philosophy.
Which “he” can close the eyes on a spud? The antecedent is Ahern, but wanted to make sure.
OK…how do you pronounce “Taoiseach”?
Saw he has to give up his blackberry because of prez records requirements.
Heh. Remind me to say how sorry I am for him.
And, why do I see Tom Friedman 100x more than I see Krugman?
All Krugman has going for him is one crappy Nobel Prize. Tom, otoh, gave us (and gave us, and gave us) the “Friedman Unit”, which is great stuff for the networks in a “stay tuned!” kinda way.
I’m bullshitting, of course. Krugman has this unacceptable habit of refusing to recognize ridiculous counter-arguments, which renders him unfit for the talking-head circus freak show.
Well, let’s see…
Krugman
Jane…just because
Christy…on the Constitution
Marcy…..well, I’d just put her on to go over and over the Spitzer story
Ian…….I think they should pair him with Krugman on the economy
Howie…..On Nyah, Nyah, Nyagh, we beat you guys and you STILL don’t know how it happened.
New thread upstairs, folks
Do I see yahoo account in his future?/s
take your pick
and
Nader of the North upstairs
well he is a yahoo that’s for sure
thank you; when I was working at Cortland State, I saw a student record for someone named Shelagh Mulligan and did not realize it was pronounced the same way “Sheila” is…. I always check now.
John Bruton, not the most eloquent kisser of the blarney stone.
OMG….. Have I gone over the edge? I agree with Friedman on the bailout?
phonetically: Tea Shook
It’s just Right Wing Madness Sunday once more in America! Spit.
