Hey Late Late Nite Pups Digg is now Open!
Hey Neuro where are you??

Raging bull all day. hen checker at the hardware store reminded me to breathe…that breath. I sent myself to my bedroom…settled down to a dull roar.
Dugg,Dude!!
breathings important dood – gotta remember them petro breath exercises
hey nehant, thanks for opening the digg
Seriously disgusting, seriously bad day!
That there is some nasty flooding on main street. Welcome to Oregon weather…I spent 11 years in it mostly the Willamette Valley…pollens…mold…mildew and mud.
Good weather for ducks was the river muddy?
Suz @ 21
I’m fagged after moving stuff all day to my new apt overlooking Obama’s high school. And trying to figure out how to finish the move by tomorrow. And right now I’m trying to figure out where the heck I put my shaver. Maybe I’ll be growing a beard again. Only I don’t think my new bride would be happy about that. *g*
Bob in HI
Just tryin’ to unwind here!!
Worked with the kids tnite(teenaged boys) my ears are still ringing from the many stereos and teevees playing
Ahhhh silence is golden!!
bb, i’m not on a river so i don’t know – i imagine they all were pretty muddy
the bay had whitecaps, tiny ones but … first time i’ve seen that here.
wedded bliss vs beard – i think ya better figure out where that shaver is bob in hi :)
They don’t call me Yoga Berra fer nothing…Sat Chid Anada…existence…knowledge…bliss.
What smoked my bacon was that someone dug up Blackjack’s grave and took his God’s eye blanket. I went over with a shovel and filled it in. Smoking ears.
fuck – that is just fucking sick bb. i don’t know what to say.
Won’t be long before we break out the snow shovels here ,the weather has been unusually cool!
I’ve got one more day of moving for myself. The last few days got vetoed by the fact that my asthma kicked up when the whether switched back to cold and damp. Not fun. -_-x
Get my bookshelves to the new place, the leftover food i want to add to the stores here and my CD and DVD bins. Other than that, i think i’m done. Well, aside from sorting all the clothes to go to Goodwill later on. AFTER my muscles recover.
Icalled my sons this evening to see how the fishing went, they haven’t been able to go because of the weather and then because of the water levels were too high and today because the river was muddy! They are hoping to go tomorrow! My middle son flew up last Tuesday for fishing. He must be bad luck as they never seem to catch anything when he goes up there. I am hoping the jinks changes and he brings back some fresh Salmon or Steelhead!!
Gotta love Oregon and all it’s rain and mold everywhere in the house in winter! Of course if you burn in a wood stove it keeps the house dryer!
Oh, man that’s terrible.
Man that’s sick !!
bb That’s just not right!! They have no respect apparently. Probably have no respect for themselves as well!
Speaking of troubles I asked a nieghbor if he ever had bad days…I got an earful,,,so I said he could send them all over here and we would take care of them all at once. The Hebrews use the wailing wall the Catholics have confession and alcoholics have bartenders.
(((bb)))
What do you have bb?
Here in CA it is currently 77 degrees, and I have all of my windows open. Unfortunately, you can smell smoke in the air from all of the fires, although I don’t live very near any of them. These are the worst fires we have had in a long time.
Hiya, pups!
Just back from Anchorage. Ms ET and I went to a discussion on progress of Diane Benson and Jeff Silverman’s upcoming PBS film on Elizabeth Peratrovich, the Tlingit Alaska civil rights pioneer.
Then we went to a tapas bar, where a party for soon-to-be U.S. Senator Mark Begich and his campaign team was having a roaring good time. It wasn’t a “victory party.” It was a “we’re ahead and we’re gonna STAY AHEAD! party.” I asked Mark if a “toast” might be bad luck?
He laughed, held up his glass, and we clinked.
DING!!!
stay safe sophie, and close the windows if the smoke gets irritating.
Pranayama to disperse the negative energy. Sometimes it catches me of guard. But getting re-centered has to be the end result
Brain hurts,time for sleep.
Goodnight Suzanne !
Goodnight all !
I’ll drink to that!
hey et
ding indeed! fingers and toes crossed – when is the day we find out officially?
g’nite bbugs
dang – sat nite and dr bong didn’t show up for nekkid drunk live blogging
The smoke isn’t so bad here, you can just smell it. The 77 degree temperature at almost 11:00 p.m. is a bit stuffy if I close the windows. Of course it was much warmer earlier today and with no A/C, open windows are a must.
Perhaps late this coming Wednesday. Another big batch being counted and announced Monday. The result will probably be within automatic recount territory, but I doubt the recount will hurt Mark, perhaps help him. The recount, though, would last until past the 22nd, I believe.
Sophie 70 mile mph winds out of the blue. So fast a deadly. Then it will smolder…we had some of the smoke in San Luis Obispo a few days ago. How many acres burned. There were around 200 homes lost South East of Santa Barbara. The pictures were in the LA Times.
has anyone heard from demi – doesn’t she live there near the sylmar fire area in the north foothills? she was evacuated during the last fire there
I saw on the local news stations, looked awful. Now they have the Yorba Linda and Anaheim Hills fires on every station. My cousin and her family live in Yorba Linda and I haven’t been able to get through to them. Hopefully, they are well.
I haven’t seen her name on threads I’ve read today. Hopefully she is okay.
I’m here and I Dugg it
Any pictures? Looking for my niece who’s been working for campaign since July.
my mom and stepdad are up in the sf bay area for the funeral of a family friend and are supposed to drive back to palm springs tomorrow. are there freeways closed?
I was a wildland fire fighter and this fire season started way early and is way past normal. These fire fighters have to be way tired. Lots of travel, sleep in paper sleeping bagson hard ground and eat sandwiches until a IG can be set up with dining tent and portable showers. It is grimy work and little pay…$10.00 in the 1990’s.
Planning departments have some culpability in fire risks.
I’m not sure, could be part of the 210 closed, probably depends on what happens tonight with the winds.
sophie, the part of the 210 in the Pasadena/Azuza/Monrovia corridor?
i think she normally cuts over from 5 to pearblossom on 138 before hitting 15 down to 10.
I saw an interview with one of the fire chiefs fighting the Yorba Linda fire and he said it’s the worst he’s seen in his eighteen years. The wind makes things so difficult. There is a fire station a couple of blocks from my house and I plan to make them a big basket of baked goods for Christmas.
She’s probably alright.
thanks sofie – firefighters always get the good treats at the holidays. at the pd, one year we got a basket of lemons.
I’m not totally sure where things stand right now. I thought I heard something last night about the 210. I would imagine it would be the part near the interchange that runs into Yorba Linda.
I hope you made lemonade!
change your diet for the heat or cold. Salads a cucumbers for heat will keep you cool. Lemonades and juices like apple keep you hydrated. The Santa Ana winds are dry and parching alcohol is a poor choice…ever see the drinkers on the beach?

I have been listening to celtic music lately. I have been haunted by a song called carrickfergus. First heard it on a chieftains album with van morrison. here he is doing a live version.
google map of the la fires
The world is safe, Suz… I just found it (on top of the file cabinets in my new home office…why did I put it there???)
Why did you choose that Tweety Bird cartoon tonight?
Sylvester = U.S.?
Other neighborhood cat= Iraq or Afghanistan?
Tweety = Bin Laden?
Or am I working too hard at drawing an analogy?
Aloha,
Bob in HI
Last night I made a yummy cucumber salad. It was just the thing. Had the leftovers this evening, along with some cold chicken.
Yeah, but I’m working on a post for my place, based on Sarah Palin’s statement to Larry King last week, that “Bristol can be used.”
as in:
I’ll have the photos of the Begich campaign party up by midnight AK time…
ya put it where you would easily spot it bob in hi
i chose this because i had not done tweety in a while and i liked that it was cat vs cat and not so much sylvester vs tweety.
My wife has a house that her daughter is living in, in Corona. The fire is in neighborhoods she used to live in. She’s worried.
Bob in HI
Also.
I would be wrong here, it was near the Sylmar fires.
These crazy winds make it so unpredictable.
Yeah, “easily,” as in spending half an hour fruitlessly wandering from room to room… (heh)
Oh, well.
Bob in HI
Sylmar is the area my wife used to live in.
Bob in HI
Poor Sylmar was hit pretty hard.
We saw the Chieftains at the SF symphony Hall a few years back… what a great show. We have several of their CD’s. Haveing a daughter who’s b-Day is March 17 doesn’t hurt either.
Irish music is well received here. On her B-day we always had a big party with Corn Beef and Cabbage, but I also made a big batch of my Chili(:>)) The corn beef was for those who wouldn’t/couldn’t eat the chili!
Sylvester reminds me of one of our cats who looks a lot like him. Just a few minutes ago, he was walking across my keyboard and harassing me because it has been at least ten minutes since I fed him. There is still food in his dish but he likes it fresh. Really fresh.
at least you remembered what you were wondering from room to room in search of, bob
fork.. wandering from room to room… dayam typos
I hope to someday try your chili. I am supposed to be part irish but never really got into the corned beef and cabbage in a big way. I do like it in reuben sandwiches, however. where I live we have two “Irish” bar & grills, usually end up in one of them on St. Paddy’s day. we have a parade, too.
Yeah none of that “Now What the fucking was I looking for/doing”?
sounds like he was wondering also, Suz.
once in a while I stop dead in my tracks and have to ask myself, what was it I was about to go do?
getting old, I guess.
I hate when that happens.
should probably have a default mission, like, going to get a glass of water, for times like those.
wandering wondering.. sounds like a csn&y song
A St Paddy’s parade!! Wow! I grew up in south Boston and we lived 1/4 mile from where the St Patrick’s Parade started! I got to see all of the Kennedy’s(except Joe of course)while growing up there. What a day in Southie barely a sober person that day, the bars were filled with great Irish music till early the next morning!! OH and I am Irish with a bit of Scotch and English thrown in!
Chaparral grows dense and faily high when it catches it is the hottest fuel you can imagine. It has a lot of pitchthat melts into gasses that explode literally. It can cut of your escape route and lill you in seconds as it consumes all the oxygen in the atmosphere. Any fire equipment is toastso they hav eto be very careful in these conditions with a high burn index and a lot of fuel. Last year whole subdivisions were wiped out and many homeowners have private contractors that come in a build with fire retardent matrials. Those people pay for more protection and usually fare better. I am no expert but chaparral fires of Southern Caifornia have a reputation with fire crews. Let’s hope their crew chiefs keep them out of harms way.
chaparral and wind equals blowtorch fires.
the r00f!, the r00f!
Well, I was wondering as I was wandering (heh).
Bob in HI
the wanderer
kick me, i’m still on hey!

lol, oops, i get a riff in my head and it sticks :(
that’s when i turn to my all time ear worm remover – sugar sugar by the archies
I had to go buy a rain poncho and now I’m looking for real cheap rubber boots.
hot butter on what, say what, the popcorn!
Some scientist are predicting a 6 degree temperature increase on Earth by 2050 much hotter than the 2 degees that is considered the line of no return to normal seasons we have enjoyed for centuries. Droughts and famines have already started in equatorial regions as the storms have move north and south of the normal patterns exposing large populations to disaster.
The snows melt earlier and faster chaninging the recharge for aquifers and rivers and lakes that supply populations water. Farming is negatively impacted. We need to plan accordingly. Bush’s USEPA policy sucks like a Hoover.
There’s a story going around the internet that goes something like this:
An older couple discussed memory problems with their therapist, who suggested writing intentions down as a way of helping them remember.
Couple gets home, and the next morning, the wife asks her husband to get her some Wheaties and milk for her breakfast. He sez OK and starts to get up to go to the kitchen. His wife sez, don’t you think you better write that down? You might forget! He sez, Naw, I can remember. She sez, Wheaties and milk! are you sure you can remember? Why don’t you write it down? He waves her off as he shuffles off to the kitchen.
He’s in the kitchen for a while, but eventually comes out with a plate of eggs and a glass of orange juice, which he sets before his wife.
His wife looks at him, and sez, “But…. where’s the toast?”
I may have misremembered the details, but that’s about how it goes.
Now, what was I doing?
Bob in HI
need a Dept. of 6 degrees of warming
You’re killing me, now I won’t be able to get that out of my head.
sounds like a good day in the studio!
Wasn’t that one of the names of Wotan in the Ring Cycle?
Bob in HI
I think I might move to the Canadian Rockies…..
always wanted to build a tea house there
try this sophie
Hoover sucked! He got the US into a financial mess almost as bad as the one that Bush has caused! We be in for another depression seeing as the big Banks are giving out bonuses and divides and not lending out the money we gave them… just another form of Welfare for the rich… Where is ours??
The air here by the bay is usually moist and cool with a fog burn off about noon. Lately though a lot of cold night and warm days. That is desert weather.
Suzanne should be happy to have the moisture. A should you all jusy not all at once.
Maybe serve those little sandwiches as well…
i’m quite happy – as long as i’m not out working in the rain, i’m very happy.
No! Ninja!
perhaps
I know, that’s what I said! “Oh say can you see…” Now that’s an earworm cure for me.
This is priceless, I bookmarked it.
Well time to hit the rack!!

Check out Suzanne’s alternative song at 124, hilarious.
I am of the opinion that the world would be a better place had bubblegum music never been created

Exactly.
nevar!
Maybe I should have said…woman of quality…
kind of one of those situations where the journey really is it’s own reward
I feel like I am just starting to relearn how to mellow out after 8 years of extreme anxiety. Not that there isn’t a boatload of stress ahead but at least with Dem wins, we have a chance. It feel so good to let go of the blues, at least for now,
mmm rexy!
was there a doubt? ;)
beautiful philosophical way of looking at things…
LOL
Curry Winter Soup:
1/4 Lb butter
1 cup diced onion
1 cup mushrooms (Straw mushrooms are best, but any kind work, except the canned ones.
1/2 cup American cheese shredded or thinly sliced
1/2 cup cheddar cheese shredded or thinly sliced
1/2 cup Swiss cheese shredded or thinly sliced
1 qt. milk
1 lb boneless chicken chests, cubed.
2 1 lb packages thawed broccoli/cauliflower mix (or broccoli/cauliflower/carrot)
2-5 tspn mild curry powder (I like the 5)
saute chicken in butter with a tight lid, over medium heat, until thoroughly cooked. Remove chicken, set aside to cool. Add onions to the pot, cook to transparency, then add 1/2 of the milk, heat but do not scald or boil. When milk/butter is hot add curry powder, mushrooms, stir in cheeses, stir until cheeses have melted completely. add more milk in stages (about a 1/4 cup at a time) to maintain heat, then add cubed cooked chicken, broccoli/cauliflower. Heat on low until the veggies are tender. Serve immediately.
If you prefer to use fresh veggies, cook them separately, you don’t want this soup to get hot enough to cook veggies because the milk & cheese will curdle.
warning: This soup does not microwave without separating, it does not freeze well either.
:)
Suzanne, you are an amazing font of apropo musical responses….
we need the down time ironranger – mellow at nite so we can fight on again in the morning
breath deeply and slowly, letting the world’s troubles fall off your shoulders as you exhale
that is a good one. thanks
you very funny…
ok fire-inthebelly-dogs, good night one and all :)
nite tw3k
just to add a little warning: Do not bring to a boil once you have added cheeses or it will separate. It might help to add a tablespoon of flour after you have sauteed the onions and cook for about one minute to cook the flour. The flour helps to prevent separating.
Peace and sweet dreams tw3k.
dang, too bad about not freezing well – hard to make soup for a solo without beig able to freeze some for later.
g’nite tw3k
I find sharing with my neighbors is a good way to deal with this issue.
is what i used to do when i was in boulder creek – and i loved it when they shared with me – naomi is a wonderful cook and i miss her martini chicken
I love to cook and cook often, but it is always too much for one, so I share the wealth with my neighbors or my office.
OK – I posted a couple of pictures from tonight’s Mark Begich worker and volunteer celebration in Anchorage, at my place.
DING!!!
Yes, suzanne. So true. I know it’s just an interlude but it feels wonderful to have a little breather.
I have been so addicted to keeping up on on minute to minute news that I have neglected just plain enjoying life freely. I am very encouraged by how I feel more myself again after the election. I knew but didn”t know how oppressed I really felt until now.
Looks like it was a great celebration!
nite pups
wonderful pictures et
Yesterday and today, Ted’s office has been closing down. IMHO, Mark’s campaign was the best-run political campaign I’ve ever witnessed in Alaska.
It had to be, which says a lot about this place, eh….?
I think it is great to see Dems at work and enjoying themselves. It gives me renewed faith in Alaska – given the Palin fiasco, which is in no way the fault of Alaskans, but still…..
My brother was in the Coast Guard and stationed on Kodiak several years ago, one of my big regrets is that I never got to visit him there.
Peace and sweet dreams newtonusr.
g’nite newton
of course I’m from California and Arnold is our governator….not that I can take credit for this fact.
ah-nold can kiss my ass in the macy’s window
i’m so glad he is no longer my gov
Whether we’re winning – like in those photos – or losing, we have a helluva a lot more fun than Republicans around here. That being said, winning is a lot more fun.
Yea winning!
I have a nephew who joined in the Marines up over 2 years ago but hasn’t been deployed to Iraq, Afganistan or anywhere else for that matter. IMO, he has been training & being groomed for special services. I am not less worried about his role but still feel comforted that maybe when Obama takes office, that we will be operating in a much more reality based world.
Be careful what you ask for, Ah-nold just may take you up on the Macy’s window thing….
From your keyboard to god’s ears.
naw he’s too much of a yellow bellied lint licker
LOL! How do you come up with this stuff. You’re awesome!
i dunno – my girls call me cliff clavin because i have all this random stuff floating around in my brain. also spent a lotta time in cars listening to the radio.
Is that your puppy’s picture at the heading, tooooo cute. What kind of dog is he/she?
yeap, that’s token. he’s a gen-u-ine mutt – mama is a lahsa apso min poodle mix (with maybe a wee bit of maltese in her) and his dad is a scottie, yorkie and rat terrier mix.
he looks like his dad. token is the cutest dog in the world 9 lb category. he will be 4 in feb.
He looks like a baby. Seriously too cute for words!
I had a lahsa apso pure bred female, Mrs. Beasely, she was such a trip. The ex-boyfriend got custody though…..
sophiehunter@197:
It”s hard adjust to the idea that my nephew is probably in a “special forces” category but it makes me feel somewhat better that we voted for a more common sense (pray God) leadership).
We can only hope that the change we can believe in will really come to all of us.
ok, pups, that’s it for me. thanks for hanging out with me tonight
g’nite y’all
Peace and sweet dreams Suzanne. Thank you for hanging out with us!
Good morning. Anyone up?
G’morning eCAHN. I just got up. How are you? It’s 38 degrees here and I’m off to do dishes from yesterday. Did you bake a cake yesterday?
It’s mid-40s here. Broken clouds after LOTS of rain yesterday.
I made two soups for the freezer (and lunch yesterday): split pea soup and 8-bean soup. Given all that cooking, the cake enterprise was from a mix: angel food. I’m thinking of getting a bunch of apples today to cook up into something.
Heh, I did my dishes & my laundry last night.
Yesterday’s dishes yesterday – that’s the life. Mine are done now. And the laundry awaits me. See you in a bit.
Good morning, pups. It’s MoDo, Kristof, Friedman and Rich today. MoDo writes about a “Team of Frenemies,” and says there are Obama aides and supporters who are upset that the man who vowed to deliver us from 28 years of Bushes and Clintons has been stocking up on Clintonites. Mr. Kristof suggests “Talia for President,” and says today’s young activists aren’t just protesters but rather are social entrepreneurs, pioneering ways to give back just as a business entrepreneur fills a market niche. The Moustache of Wisdom says we’re “Gonna Need a Bigger Boat,” and that to fight a global financial panic like this, you have to go at it with overwhelming force — an overwhelming stimulus that gets people shopping again. Maybe I’m a fool, but it strikes me that it’s not just about people shopping… Mr. Rich says “The Moose Stops Here,”and that the post-election Republican soul searching has featured a convenient amnesia about the party’s race-based “Southern strategy.” Gee, ya think?
http://mgpaquin.wordpress.com/
The coffee, tea and hot chocolate are ready, and I’ve got eggs Benedict and eggs Florentine this morning. My eggs are missing a spoonful, which is in the dish next to the spoonful of tuna down over there by the water dish, in memoriam. Yesterday we had to have Sweet Pea, our 18 year old diabetic kitteh, put to sleep, so we’re feeling a bit cast down. Have a happy day, pups, and if you live with fur persons give them and extra bit of love today.
(((Marion)))
So sorry to hear about you kittey.
Ah, heck! Marion -
So sorry about the Sweet Pea! Amazing age… that must be an indicator of how much love and good care the furry child received from your family. Currently furless here so virtual hugs to {{{you}}}.
Oh dear Marion, I’m so sorry about your Sweet Pea. I will hug mine a little tighter today.
Talking Heads upstairs…
Marion, I’m sorry about your kitty. The mutt thanks you for the few extra hugs.
