"He is putting a lot of energy into his own survival — a lot of energy into his own security," CIA Director Michael Hayden said in a speech at the Atlantic Council in Washington.
"In fact, he appears to be largely isolated from the day-to-day operations of the organization he nominally heads," he said.
But enough about Bush, what is up with Bin Laden?

Can anyone here show me solid proof that Osama bin Laden is actually alive?
Put up or shut up…
I second that…maybe the Chimpenfeurher and Osama will retire tagether in Paraguay…our home grown fascist bastard will burn in the hell he doesn’t believe in but I want ‘im ta do a few turns in Leavenworth first!
P.S. ET I left ya a note at the end of the last thread…you really got it tagether with the music for non-majors…I like the way yer doin that period…you are a lucky man to be teachin and livin the music you love!
Osama bin dead for a long time, imo.
Good morning, pups. It’s Bobo and Krugman this morning. Bobo, who must realize that he shares the op ed page with a Nobel Prize winning economist today, has decided to hold forth on matters economic. He’s nattering on about the “Bailout to Nowhere,” and says the biggest threat to a healthy economy is the politically powerful capitalists who use their influence to create a stagnant corporate welfare state. His memory doesn’t seem to reach all the way back to 1979 and the Chrysler bailout… Prof. Krugman, in “Depression Economics Returns,” says that the United States economy has entered the realm of Depression economics, in which the usual rules of economic policy no longer apply.

The coffee, tea and hot chocolate are ready, and the apple walnut muffins are out of the oven. We’ve got dense fog this morning, after a thunderstorm last night, and we may get more rain today and tomorrow. And thank heaven it’s Friday! 67 days to go…
Good Morning. Bobo the economist, I don’t think so.
Bin Laden is most likely dead or he’s living in the basement of the Bush Compound in Kennebunkport, Maine. No one knows for sure.
No.
And Bobo playing economist while he’s sharing the page with Krugman? That indicates a certain hubris, and a vastly overrated sense of his own abilities.
maybe a naive question but why wouldn’t they make a big deal about it? doncha think cowboy Bush would ant to brag about winning his shootout with the guy in the black hat??
Marion, Bobo has been taking lessons from Sarah. Congrats on the rain. We had a few showers from the front moving through. The heavier rains either moved north or south of us. The muffins sound wonderful.
we have fog too. speaking of dense, think we can get through a day without news about Palin? Or do we already have some? saw Krauthammer on FOX last night. he says she should go back to Alaska and read.
this is one of the reasons i believe in heaven and hell. hell is for people who manage to pretty much get away with being evil during their lifetimes as it looks like Bush might do. It’s just a hope that sometime, somehow there will be justice.
It would appear he agrees with (or steals lines from) Katie Couric who said “I think she should keep her head down, work really hard and learn about governing.”
maybe a naive question but why wouldn’t they make a big deal about it?
How ya gonna carry out the War on Terra™, which has made billions for you and your friends, if the big bad boogie-man is dead?
And assuming that he didn’t die from any direct U.S. action – what’s to brag about?
Just keep cashing those checks.
well, even if he died from something other than a US bullet or bomb, they could still take credit for it. I know. The Pentagon? Lie? hard to imagine. As for the $$$$, they still had the Iraq war. Ka-ching.
I guess this strategist didn’t think he would ever have to face the world
oh, wait, he can’t face the world, he’ll get arrested
Morning all.
How ya gonna carry out the War on Terra™, which has made billions for you and your friends, if the big bad boogie-man is dead?
Don’t worry, it is plug-n-play. How many times have we killed the “number 2 man”? They just plug in a new boogie man and carry on.
The notioin that the criminals in the current administration and the Republicon party will be held accountable is a revolutionary notion and it’s looking like an Obama administration is hardly revolutionary. More along the lines of an American Kerensky. Just holding the line while protecting the interests of a corrupt and craven ruling elite.
Ayers is on GMA
Morning all,
If OBL is pushing up daisies he can’t see that he and GWB have brought the US to its knees.
well, even if he died from something other than a US bullet or bomb, they could still take credit for it.
Without film? In the days of 24-hour teevee news? Given Bush’ credibility, the public would at the very least demand to see the body of UBL.
As for the $$$$, they still had the Iraq war. Ka-ching.
But UBL and Iraq were behind 9-11, remember? With Saddam gone, ya still need one bad guy to justify the Iraq cash-machine.
And even on the days that the Bush administration would admit that there was no A.Q tie to 9-11, Osama was still the guy ‘in charge’ of all those terrists fighting our brave troops in Iraq, right?
Bin Laden is a very necessary myth at this point. More valuable “alive” than dead.
Citizen Bluetoe2:
“…and it’s looking like an Obama administration is hardly revolutionary.”
No administration is “revolutionary” but DEMOCRACY is revolutionary. We have a political leader that has a few more’n 3 brain cells and will lead a regeneration of democracy is we stand up and show ‘im where we wanna go.
democracy without the rule of law is merely a catch phrase. Without accountability and the rule of law there is no democracy only plutocracy.
Citizen Bluetoe:
“The rule of law” is a phrase that justifies unequal and unjust application of law…the IDEA of justice and equal protection is part of what we struggle to acheive and democracy is the vehicle thru which the people direct their leaders toward the application of justice.
Palin is the perfect example of what is wrong with the republicans and the media in general – continually focus on a shiny object. her is someone who is supposed to be intelligent, skilled in government and it has been shown over and over and over again that there is no there there.
She is admittedly driven by her lust for power and justifies all by her “belief” in god and the fact that she knows nothing doesn’t seem to disqualify her in her mind or more shockingly in the “mind” of the media who keep putting her in the spotlight.
Yes she is an embarassment and seeing that again and again SHOULD be a lesson. But will it be? When they they realize that they cre3ate these media circuses which are destroying the conversation in politics and american life. With so many people of substance to put under the spotlight it is shameful that this dimwit gets taken seriously about anything. She’s had way more than her 15 minutes, but lots of people see Sarah as some sort of “cash cow” and are milking her for all they can.
We are a nation of idiots, let by a binch of greedy manipulative jerks who have no interest except their own power and wealth. How they get it doesn’t matter a hoot. Expect more of Sarah and try to enjoy the idiot. It does have comedic value too.
P.S It’s all about the struggle…like Napoleon said “Where are the people going for I am their leader and I must lead them?”

Some days I just get the feeling that this is our punishment for rejecting his dad’s re-election.
We all saw how it worked out for someone who tried to kill his dad.
Nobody could be that petty could they?
Miles Horton, union organizer, on leadership:
“Leadership is followin’ a bunch o’ people who know where they’re goin’, wait until they’ve all sat down, then get up and talk to them about leadership.”
Citizen SouthernDragon:
Ol’ Miles sure knew whereof he spoke…I’m tryin’ ta get folks around here ta figure out that Obama will be as progressive as we make ‘im and our work has jest begun.
It’s all about the struggle!
Uh, oh…over 70% of white people have a favorable view of Obama. That’s bad. That means our expectations are unrealistically high and we’re all going to disappointed. Honest. I just saw it on CNN.

Musharrif says Osama is likely dead: http://edition.cnn.com/2002/WO……binladen/
Bush on March 13/02 said, “I am truly not concerned about him”
http://archives.cnn.com/2002/A…..ranscript/
Bush’s comment would only make sense if he knew that Osama was dead.
Blue Texan up, with among others a great Bidens go a visiting link. Made my day, which is about to start so bye all.
Shiny object, tarnished reputation. irony, the more the tarnish, the more they take a shine to her.
SO will no longer watch Rachel and Keith because of he incessant appalling Paln.
Basement, like a blogger? Guess it fits, as he is already in jammies.
link not working for Musharrif interview… http://edition.cnn.com/2002/WO……binladen/
Last week on CSPAN2 Book TV a former U S counter intelligence agent (I can’t remember his name) was on a panel that included Jane Mayer. When someone asked him a question about the infamous boogeyman. His reply, “He more than likely is dead and has been dead for some time.” Unfortunately nobody followed up with a question to that remark. This isn’t the first time I’ve heard someone say that……and that video of OBL last year didn’t look at all like him. So the real question? Are we chasing a ghost? And where is his pal the Doctor?
A few months before Benazir Bhutto was assassinated she was interviewed on Frontline or something similar and she matter-of-factly stated that Osama was dead and there was no followup question. She was killed very shortly thereafter.
There is a youtube video of an interview of Bhutto by David Frost where she says the guy is dead and Frost never follows up. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UnychOXj9Tg
