Maddow’s interview with the conduit of the leak, Mrs. Greenspan, suggested that it was a real disclosure and not a trial balloon.

Obama’s tight-lipped candidacy is either bursting at the mouth, or Mrs. Greenspan is a patsy. Given the week, 50-50 IMO.

But Hillary is supremely qualified. Not out of the question.

Just home from work. Today’s lesson was 20th century art music from 1900 to 1914, including early Schoenberg and Stravinsky’s Rite of Spring. One of the most difficult nights of the semester. It’s hard to pitch it in a way the kids actually get it. Youtube really helps, though.

What level are the students…are they music majors with keyboard and theory trainin or is it “music appreciation”? If it’s the latter I suggest separating the two composers and let the kids listen to the “Rite of Spring” and then write something about what it evolked VISUALLY for them or what it evolked from their experience…that way ya ken get into the “impressionism” and “expressionism” stuff through what they write about their own feelings in response to it.

As for Schoenberg, well that’s really a stretch for non-music folks and I was never enamored of playin his stuff…as a string player I jest wanned ta swim with the sharks ,so ta speak, and not get all mixed up with the baitfish.

P.S. Brother Teller, great work up there in the election and yer work ain’t over yet!! Ain’t citizenship fun when yer chasin fascists thru the streets?!!

Notice that Obama is removin’ the potentially most powerful Democratic opponents in the House and Senate while puttin ‘em in harness for himself with their strengths. I don’t worry about all the Clintonistas in the Executive…it’s the LEGISLATURE that Obama needs ta get ahold of and by creatin’ a powerful and competent executive and pullin’ his rivals out of the legislature and harnessing their competitive egos he gets what he wants. There will be no mistaking who is in charge of this administration.

If your observation is right, we should expect him to break RGJoe over his knee, but leave him with some honor and pull. That is one bitter pill for this life-long Democrat.

He is poised to avenge his numerous recent disgraces at the hands of his own party (he truly made his own bed) – I recall when asked very soon after he endorsed McCain, why that choice, and he forlornly said that no one else had asked him to support them. The guy is come death (politically speaking).

As for Rahm, he will have to be the Obama appointee I love to hate. The guy is now in control of access to the man who will be President, and I don’t trust him much more than I trust Lieberman.

Ya know…I think that Stravinsky and Schoenberg might be more easily accessible ta non-majors the way you are presenting it…the music and art and literature (especially Russian and east European) is so important to experiencin the history of the period…kinda lioke “history teachin’ by example” if ya catch my drift. You must be havin fun with the music you love…you are a lucky man and yer students will some day know that they are lucky too.
