(AKI) – Swiss lawyer Dick Marty is appearing as a witness at the controversial trial of five Italian intelligence agents and 26 Americans, most of them CIA agents, in the northern city of Milan. The defendants are charged with abducting an Egyptian-born Muslim cleric and terrorism suspect there in 2003. Marty last year wrote a report by Europe’s top human rights body The Council of Europe on the CIA’s alleged detentions and illegal flight transfers of terrorism suspects, known as ‘extraordinary renditions’.

They’ve had a web page with promises of things to come for several years. At last it looks a little different this week. I haven’t checked it for about 6 months.

He has been a person of interest in four investigations that I know of, two of which are still ongoing. Those are the ones I know of, not the ones I don’t. I can’t say he’s ever been a “target” per se.

Have you thought about trying to put it all on a big hard drive? I bought all the software.. but I can’t figure out how to make it work… and i don’t think 100 gigs is near enough space… but it’s my inner luddite that’s really holding me back.

ES is that an external USB/firewire connected drive? If so it should be real easy to add to your computer. Most these days have software for both the PC and the Apples. You should be able to just plug it in and your system should see it. Then install what ever software they gave you…

i am so sick of apple pie – the last time we were talking about it, i went to the fred meyer the next day and they had a forking gorgeous looking (and tasting) colossal sized caramel apple pie with gobs of caramel drizzled on top. *sigh, a weakness of mine*

i bought the forker and there is still a good quarter of that forking pie left. keeps well tho, i gotta give it that. i’ve been nuking the slice for 45 seconds until everything is all gooey hot.

used up the last of my icecream on that pie. blergh, i’m sick of apple pie.

My dub collection is on CD instead of vinyl (I mostly acquired it in the mid-90’s) so putting it on a big hard drive would be relatively easy. But it’s at least a 100. I have numerous albums from the artists listed on the On-U Sound website – Creation Rebel, African Head Charge, and Adrian Sherwood himself. Creation Rebel’s ‘Historic Moments Vol. 1 & 2′ are up there. Creation rebel morphed into Dub Syndicate whose album ‘Stoned Immaculate’ (with its tracks 7,8,9; Well Tuned Now, King of Sound and Blues, Fight the Power) is one of my favs.

It’s funny to talk about it now since my musical interests are so different these days compared to 15 years ago, though I guess they are no less odd.

i’m really really enjoying it muzzy. i’m all warm and toasty inside, looking out the window at the nasty outside and i smile and think about no more wearing a banana suit pretending to be a traffic signal at nite during power failures in the rain and i do a mental happy dance.

i love watching the clouds come across the cape and the rain bands cross the bay until they hit. the winds have been pretty fierce but this old place holds up really well. if it was mine, i would put storm windows on the bay side during the winter – had to put a few towels on a couple sills to catch some wet that got blowed in.

Iomega has some great deals on desktop hard drives! check them out! I got a 1/2 terra bit network drive and have had no problems and it comes with EMC backup Exec software, which
I used when I was an system administrator to backup all the windows servers to tape! Backing up top a hard drive is way more flexible.

Yeah. There is olny so much stuff from the 60’s and 70’s to be found for re-release and the production by the directly inspired younger generation in the late 70’s to 80’s ran its course.

The latest torch bearer I’ve found is Twilight Circus, who I like a lot. This is one TC track with quite a dub progression – Carousel

They are real easy to install and use. Be sure you always have plenty of local hard disk space. I have seen and worked on many that the only thing wrong with them was lack of space!! Alway keep 10 to 15 gigs of free space and if you have lots and lots of memory (4gigs and above) you need even more disk space for the computer to use for scratch space!

I found this amazing compilation from 1998 called Ragga Jungle when i was in college as a DJ. I still have it and burnt it to mp3, thankfully. I’m not sure exactly where the CD is at the moment. But i’ve played the tracks to complete success on Radio Riel. I don’t bring them out often though.

What bitrate and what type of files are you burning those into? That always determines the amount of space used. As i’m sure you know, Muzzy. I tend to go 120 or 198 or higher for mp3s. if i can find a flac that my winamp likes, it’s 320 and up. Which fills up my mp3 player fast but i still have room to spare on my 120 gigs HD for my desktop. (which has at least 20 gigs or more of music and growing) I haven’t burnt all my CDs yet, but it’s given me a general estimate depending on the quality i want. I have a friend with a solid Terabyte of music, but he’s been burning this stuff for YEARS or he’d be lugging around crates and crates of CDs.

Watching the storm systems roll in from the ocean with the bands across the cape is the kind of thing I enjoy. They’re definitely impressive this time of year.

Yup. Jungle is an offshoot of drum’n’bass as a genre. i have yet to find other copies of the Toasted compilation, but the beats are downright evil(as in fast as hell and hard to match up). Hence my total love of it, but sparing use. Because building a set around those tracks are daunting but a true challenge, even to an experienced DJ like me. I don’t think they ever made anymore of the Toasted series, which to me? Sucks. :( But there’s still dubstep, at the least. :D

Jungle beats are downright agressive, hardcore raver type things. Drum’n’Bass is evil, but generally a tad bit lower on the BPM. For that i go for Mocean Worker’s first 2 albums where he experimented with that the most.
