CT you have two screens I know it
*waving from floating raft on lake* this song makes me too mellow to dive pups.

BED
Look again, BB! ;-0
*innocent look*
Timing, BB, timing! ;-)
mr sammy sure wails on keyboards. that is what made me choose this video – i love walter’s guitar work but the organ sang to me tonight.
Great song, and good to see it isn’t about Sarah Palin. That one would be “She Takes More Than She Gives,” ….eh?
The wind was an earful, the waves were feaful and the sky was dark threatening and cloudy when I put my scull in the bay water to row to the sandspit. It took almost twie as many strokes to reach the other side. The tide was moving across the direction and the wind coming in gust from the northwest like an Oregon coast squall. It was a good workput and a fast following sea on the return. Hi Suzanneand CT.
((( Suz )))
hiya Suze & pups, got an extra floaty mattress/raft type thingie around?
Innocent, Suz? As if…! *g*
hey et – what’s the word on the vote counting up your way?
{{{{{ ndfg + Al }}}}}
Let me have a ZED in second spot. OK that works. It was close I got a posting to fast warning from the scrum half.
lots of air mattresses and floaty rafts – they are on the other side of the towels. i love how the lake is warm and inviting, no matter the season.
Does anyone else think Bush will greet the Obamas by tap dancin’ and/or rappin’ ?
Close as in hand grenades and horse shoes…? Why certainly, I’m a magnanimous soul…! ;-)
NO NO there anin’t no way to keep her satisfied, Damn in Berlin what fun.
he’s gonna make ‘em wait for at least 20 minutes
Maaammy, how I love ya, how I love ya …
That would be Crazy Karl Rove.
yeah–in blackface
Whats that in your left hand Suz … could that be that a glass of that fine wine from the Oregon coast???
Heh, I see that Mitch and Al have locked horns…! I think I should wade in, eh? ;-)

DiGG it Pups!
On every corner IIRC… But they aren’t PEETS!
Dugg
So cocky now you have your housing. G)
Nicely done ! Many on the left seem to believe that the GWOT is fur reelz !
Not really, I’ve set up a weekly studio rental for my family until I can find a suitable homestead…!
Heh, You’re peeking…! 8-)
Still have the new job yes?
Hi Nahant how’s tricks? With your fancy smancy super duper green machine on your roof. Does it fly? S)
Dugg it nahant!
it’s not a tent dood – and you are online.

Yes, I think the duel’s over … am also carrying on a semi- serious chat with newt downstairs …
naahhh … why get between a couple of grizzled ol’ moose battling it out? Plus i don’t want to be around if a moose-huntin’ gal from Wasilla shows up *g*
I’m still in my old digs, Suz! The Computer is the last thing I’ll pack…! Tomorrow nite, I might not be online…! :-(
gad. i’m being a rude old geezerette tonight, thank you Suze! *drags comfy floaty thing down to the water’s edge*
and {{{ Petro }}}
oh noz!!!
fingers and toes crossed ya get your new realsie digs soon and are back on the tubes again.
there are always libraries and coffee shops and other wifi friendly places.
Yep, I’m scheduled for later this month… I’m also applying for another day job…
How’s things in the Wild Wild West ? We had a wet and lousy summer, so a bit grumpy about the coming winter …
Not yet but soon!
Glad you got interim housing. Little intimate but everything is handy. I spent of 6 years in a cabover camper on a 460 ford 3/4 ton with Blackjack. He loved those spaghetti diners. I know your family will enjoy it too.
Well count your blessing for that at least and good luck on the day job hunt! Will be thinking good thoughts for you and your family!!
well, we’re in wild, wild urban Minnesota. And it’s cold. Flurries on the ground. Blergh. It doesn’t matter what kind of summer i have, i always grumble about winter.
Ms ET and I made dinner tonight for my bodyguard, before he goes back to work on the tugboats in Valdez for the next five weeks.
He voted for McCain-Palin, which is why we haven’t seen him for a while. He’s a bit unapologetic – he voted for Stevens and Young, too. All this after he had worked hard as a volunteer for Diane Benson in the Democratic Party primary. There is very little logic in Alaska, sometimes.
*Yikes* … why are you in the only place that gets more snow than Siberia ? *g*
We’re expecting flurries tomorrow … blerg indeed !
i’m still waiting for my first ‘big’ oregon storm now that i’m settled in at the coast. my first weekend here, we got a semi serious one blowing through with gusts in the high 20’s. we’ve had rain every day this week but i like rain and it does keep the temps up into the high 50’s.
Hi y’all– I’ve been busy with moving to a new apartment, so I’m not up to speed on the Obama transition. However, despite bmaz’s eloquent nomination of Janet Napolitano for AG over at the Wheel House, word I hear from others in AZ is that Napolitano is being proposed for head of the Homeland Security, and some guy from Massachusetts for AG.
Who might that guy from Massachusetts be?
Bob in HI
Petro – I meant to ask:
Any hint as to whether screw-jobs like Harper will come correct when confronted with a principled POTUS?
I would like to see Obama both extend a hand in friendship and a dispatch Ambassadors with some expectations. Like rule-of-law, etc.
We cannot have another Maher Arar.
we are in Minnesota because i got a job offer for full-time employment. I do not consider snow and frozen ground one of the benefits. I must not have been saying my affirmations correctly …
Grumble grumble caldron rumble
I wish I may I wish I might
have the wish I wish tonight
Warm and toasty
Warm an roasty.
Ah that’s better. Keep that blood stirring and use those muscles wrap up and enjoy the clear cold air. Soon it will be thanksgiving and lots of goodies to eat and hot to drink I think.
Grumble grumble
I tend to like rain also … does it get snow there or does the ocean moderate the weather enough?
Hey dearest NDFG,
Even in Cleveland, I love the first snow. Must be my Delaware roots.
bwahaha! dang. needed a spew alert for that one *starts cleaning tea off monitor*
it can snow on the coast but it is rare and doesn’t hang around – leastwise, that’s what i’ve been told. i think it moderates the cold nicely – haven’t been any colder here than i was at the cabin.
{{{ Christine! }}}} I love snow but at my age not until the week before Christmas. And then it can all melt on Dec. 26. I think i picked the wrong place to live.
One thing Canuck Politicians do well is kiss ass … Chretien couldn’t wait to brown nose Dubya when he got into office and now Harper is pro- actively sending a proposal to Obama for addressing climate change while protecting the Oilsands his friends are so heavily invested in … I’m sure Barack will handle Harpuh just fine and make him backtrack on all his policies so that our spineless Libruls can regain office in 2010
Evidently, ET…! What gives…? :~)
Hey, ndfg, you were from Wisconsin, weren’t you? Or is your new job too far north for your liking?
Congrats on the new job, anyway!
Bob in HI
Well FWIW, and recognizing that Obama isn’t the best example of Progressive, here’s to the Libs up there getting a clue. If we can be of help, don’t hesitate to ask.
Kerry?
Greetings from the Rat Hole.
Beaty tune Suz!
Walter Trout?
Never heard of him. Nice though!
Um … could we borrow Barack every other weekend ? We’re pretty well organized, so Canada wouldn’t require more than 4 days a month of governance …
hey busted – i’ve played walter here before – a cut of him doing dust my broom
Eyes glazing over … G’nite all !
Have another great week !
Sure. Once we’re done with the whole Constitution thing.
nite petro
Aloha, Petro!
I love also but as with you I would much rather watch it run down the drain and stay in the mountains! Me and snow have a pact if it stays in the mountains I won’t come and bother it at all!
g’nite petro
i’ve not lived with snow since i was a toddler. i can probably count on one hand the # of times it has snowed where i’ve lived since then.
i do wanna be all toasty and warm inside, watching flakes falling to the ground, seeing token and bailey’s first reactions to the white stuff.
it can stay overnite – for a visit, but then i would want it to leave.
yeah, about 30 miles east of here, just across the state line. Just gotta remind myself the summers here are paradise. Unlike Texas. *g*
that sounds like an admirable philosophy! But alas, i do love gardening, and perennials in this part of the continent survive winter much better if they have snow cover. Sigh.
ndfg, norske and i were talking the other nite about roses and winter. i learned about rose caps and that ya don’t have to bury em, just mulch real good and have some snow cover to insulate em.
however, my landlady does all the gardening here – i’m just a lucky beneficiary of all the eye candy.
How very true if there is no snow cover the frost penetrates much deeper into the ground killing many of the perennials! I lived in Maine before coming to California so I have seen it in action… But on the other hand no snow makes for great Ice on the lakes for skating… Win some lose some I guess!!
I wish!! I get to do all the out door gardening stuff, from the veggies to the flowers Oh well I do like my veggie garden and I do the flowers for my sweetie to keep her happy… She sings for me, I don’t get enough of the singing but of course ya can’t win all the time and I relish what I do get!!
Isn’t he the guy who wrote “Trout Fishing in America” ?
Must a been Iced Tea…please excuse me.
i’ve got two decks tho – plenty of room to do some personal gardening and, of course, my landlady said i can plant what i want in the vegetable garden.
come this spring, the roses at the end of the lawn where it meets the creek and bay are gonna be a lovely eye candy. and the rhodies which are tree sized and original to the house.
Uh oh, where’d everybody go? ;-)
no problem, a good laugh is always worth it!
well, time for me to toddle off to bed, trying to get up early enough to do errands before work. {{{ Suze and all the Firepups }}}
Sounds great Suz… Don’t forget to plant some tomatoes in large pots on the balcony! I have been planting our tomatoes in 20 to 30 gallon plastic pots and have been getting great results!! When sprig comes around I will tell you some the great varieties that do well in pots and around this house rarely make it into the house as they get eaten on the spot… Ask Newt he got some! Actually I tried to leave you some at the pod party but you declined!
i dunno – i bathed and used mouthwash
i was getting rid of stuff dood – and trying to eat everything i had that was not packable (laughing)
Ummm, they were ok.
ho boy do I need to send Guido your way to adjust your knees a bit Newt??
*clears throat*
Suz – nahant is the kindest, gentlest, most handsome and capable vegetable gardener I have ever known.
*laughing*
nahant, no fair *ahem* picking on knees
Let me guess, ‘Guido’ knows where you live…? ;-)
but but Guido is so short that as high as he can reach with his BB bat!
When he said ‘Guido’, he meant Shane Stant.
He has this Sicilian thing going. I can’t explain it.
dood, just reading about knees made my fake one hurt
Sorry Suz but Newt WAS acting up and needed to be reminded!
Uh oh, it wasn’t just the Mormons that were behind the Yes on Prop 8…
Catholics, Mormons allied to pass Prop. 8
Sad…! :-(
Boy that rings a far-off bell.
Richard Brautigan?
they need to be held accountable for their role. how dare they force their religous beliefs down the throat of other people. america is about freedom of religion, which includes freedom from religion
Never forget the chili I took home it lasted…I can visualize the pot you brought it in and the people in the room sitting and chatting.
By the way may cuz in called from her home in Colorado she works for dems but said she voted for McCain but did not like the Prop 8 outcome.
Aha…the bionic woman! Does it have to be painful…never was in the comics.
this bionic woman has been called to task by token who is demanding some play time.
g’nite pups and thanks for hanging out with me tonight.
nite suz
Aloha, Suz! As a parting shot… Bush administration to blame for McCain’s failure, Palin says… Too rich…! ;-)
In Watermelon Sugar…Confederate General in Big Sur all banned in Anderson California until the courts reversed the ban. He wrote nice prose influenced by his poetry. Descriptive of nature. …I heard the footsteps coming up the path to the cabin…something I read in 1969. He read a lot of beat poets. Interesting folks. Hi Margot.
Hey BB how you doing down there on the coast?? and as for chili I have had this hankering to make another batch of it!! But this week I WILL be making my chicken, sausage and shrimp Gumbo… nice and spicy… have to keep the cold at bay! Besides I need to keep the Solar crew happy! They should be done with the arrays and wiring done by Tuesday and then the Electrician comes and installs the new fuse box, meter and upgrades the service to 200 amps!!
nite Suz sleep well tonight and give Token and Bailey a nuzzle from Tucker(:>))
Let’s see…
I am anxious for the video of this interview to turn up.
Nite Suzzanne of the bay now used to be the canyon in desperation..calming way way down home good night now. peace…officer.
I have a question for late nite fld. Which is going to make us all cringe.I’m sorry… Or else make everyone ignore my comments, which I totally can understand. But there’s nothing ultra-important going on right now.Until tomorrow.
I’m referring to the ban on the C word. A word I detest unless applied to certain situations. Think Bachmann. Think Coulter, Malkin, Palin.
If we are going to ban the C word, can we now also ban any word that implies male equipment?. No more assuming that we can easily connect any action with male hormones/equipment.No Mr. Nice Guy.
I’ve pushed my case for an end to this hypocricy in a loud way. And not effective if I may say. Blundering would describe it.
As we move into a new day, can we decide to either say “c#&t” or stay stuck in the fog of womanhood that’s dragged us down all these years? With all the oppression?
Or will we continue being nice girls?
I keep the cold at bay too…jus tleave it their. The Shrimp gumbo sounds awesome I spose New England style along with the bam!
Speaking of chili…
Okay…! Yum, Yum…! ;-)
Being of the male persuasion, I dare not chime in…! ;-)
Well, here’s hoping I’ve internet linkage tomorrow nite! I shall bid ya’ll a fond adieu until then…! Aloha Oe!!!
Being that you commented, I applaud you!!!
Mind if I stick my hand in this fire?
I can recall many, many discussions of this a while back. And the central opposition to its use was this (and I agree with it completely): The ravages of spousal abuse are rampant, and they are reflected here, too. There are many women who have been victims of this and as it happens, one of the words used most frequently by their abusers is the word you mention. It is a knife, a grenade, a cold slap to them. It is fear-inspiring and frightening.
So in deference to them, I think it was decided that, while free speech was all well and good, consideration of these participants in these threads was appropriate.
And I might add personally – if you can’t communicate that sentiment with other parts of the very rich English language we have at our disposal, you aren’t trying.
nite tuttle
That’s a mindfull. I am a Lenny Bruce and Frank Zappa free speech person. Mario Savioo
Lenny was a comedy person, Mario was a civil rights sctivist. as was Zappa who wanted freedom for his art form in which he excelled…testified several times in congress before he surcame to prostate cancer…no offense intended. Seems if it is a word it is a word although crude insulting and does not have a clear meaning other than a derogatory lable like other racial slurs it is a sexual slur. Would we not to be consistent have to ban others words as well?
Frank said Some scientists claim that hydrogen, because it is so plentiful,
is the basic building block of the Universe. I dispute that. I say there is more stupidity than hydrogen, and that is the basic building block of the Universe.
Frank Zappa
I am perfectly willing to eliminate that word…however the Mod is the boss on these issues better ask him and check with losseheadprops the attornet rugby player and emptywheels.
Ha ha.
And I might add personally – if you can’t communicate that sentiment with other parts of the very rich English language we have at our disposal, you aren’t trying.
Well yes. But that could also apply to a lot of terms people use regularly here, don’t you think?
Hi. Just got up to show my honey the photoshopped Lieberdoodle shot I saw this morning.
Laying in bed talking about politics at midnight.
We’re crazy folks.
Considering the user is self deprecating I would not wear what does not fit…like the proverbial shoe. Pardon me wondering but why did you bring that up now?
I guess. But I can’t think of too many words besides that one that generate fear and loathing. It is described as a visceral, internal, and memory-jolting term. I believe it, having been acquainted with someone who had been subjected to it.
I know of no man who is similarly affected by a term. This isn’t a measure of fortitude, but circumstances, IMO.
And I have 3 sisters, at least one of which has been slandered thusly. This is my personal take.
Okay. And, prior to your comment, I really didn’t understand the whole history with the word.
I’ve never been subjected to that term. Face to face anyway. People may have referred to me with that term, out of ear shot.
So, for me, there is no memory-jolting experience.
I can think of a few words which generate fear and loathing though….
back to the bedroom conversation…
Clintons!
See?
Church…religion…censorship. I like a number of “vernacular words”. i think Newt is a catholic or maybe Murphy…I have evolved to no religion…though I like the Buddhist the best. The conservative Muslims, Christians and Jews all seem fairly intolerant. Seems to me their is more evil done in the name of religion than those not so disposed. I don’t buy god, goddess, dog or any of that denial. It leads to destruction of the planets biosphere.
PS, did you see the aforementioned photo of lieberdoodle?
I have to agree with you.
Say the word God or Christ and people go batshit crazy.
My finale statement for yesterday is…Jane Fonda was born the same year I was! Wow good company.
I thank you all for this discussion of the word that can not be spoken. It is a very powerful word in our culture. Without the respect of the actual orafice.
It’s a seriously over-ampted word. C***. Sorry lurking mod.
Frigging get over it. It should be that it’s not acceptable to use any genetic slander to define any human.
But since we do, I say we should add c*** with the same enthusiasm we use dick head.
~~~ModNote: Edited for content to clear filters.~~~
Jane Fonda is hot. Except for the Ted Turner thingy.
If I had a nickel for every hour I worked out to her videos, I could contribute to this site.
Incorrect.
My final statement is…
C word. And, that is said to no one in particular.
How do you judge someone’s personal experience?
Incorrect.
gotcha. was confused. it happens. regularly.
goodnight, newton not a catholic usr.
sweet dreams when you get there.
and goodnight bigbrother.
I have a healthy respect for that view. But, and I don’t know how to say this another way – I would not tell a woman who has been so-victimized to “just get over it.” You can go there, but not me. I have seen it, and it’s not going to happen.
nite demi
some day, we’ll all get over “it” and then we’ll be happy. :)
again, nite nite.
and thanks for being here.
Yes, we have many obstacles to overcome before we are truly free. It starts with the assumption that a word is an attack, instead of just a word.
Sorry lurking mod, I promised I wouldn’t do this to you again.
I lied!! I’ve been hanging out with citizens younger then me. They don’t get the frenzy to protect the word. They’re more concerned about a woman’s right to be safe and uncensored.
Attaturk is upstairs!
Heh, Indeedski
