Suz!
pups! how is everyone doing tonight?
3rd
What no Bohemian Rhapsody?
Having trouble typing with one hand. Theodore, my cat, is lodged in the crook of my other arm.
sorry dood – i don’t think there is a cartoon for that one
Wait a minute you took your own ZED I calling Zed X on ya Suz I’M good and you are as well hiding out in paradise.
ct was before me, bb – he got the zed
oop that was CT of the sore back good evening to you
Hi Suzanne,I owe you one!!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iiFnleuNULQ
Evening Suz what no dive or your patented cannon ball… of course with no warnings!
Suzanne!
This is great!
I’m laughing at the 2nd cartoon and waking the poor dog. Love them, thanks, Suz!
lil red rooster is a great forking song bbugs
If my wife comes outta bed and finds me watching cartoons, she’s gonna take away my bottle!!!
hey newton
hey margot
glad you are liking the toons. i really could not choose between them – so i posted both.
DiGG it pups!!
suzanne!
Top of the evening to ya, BB! ;-)
hey sunny – how goes?
patience is a virtue
Two cartoons to end a rough week.
Thanks, Suzanne!
Hi Suzanne. Thanks for the classical cartoons.
Ya sure couldn’t go wrong with that decision Suz!! Both are great! sure remind me of my Saturday mornings with my little sisters watching cartoons and making forts with umbrellas, blankets and any thing else we could get our hands on in the living room.
hey teddy
hey tex
What’s on my mind? Victor Borge, for some reason …
Also, Darcy Burner’s loss, thanks to a huge infusion of out-of-state cash and a dishonest local paper. Oh, and I wrote the transition team.
I’m not feeling very optimistic.
i used to love watching the victor borge shows. between cartoons and victor, i got a pretty decent classical piano education.
The good old days!!
Can’t get enough of Lukovich’s JoeLie cartoon.
ya forgot the box of cereal. we could go through an entire box nibbling while watching sat morning cartoons.
Can’t wait to see his fate!
Cereal in the living room ,,Ma woulda killed us!!
I missed the education part, but he was fun to watch.
dugg yer digg dood
that was the whole point dood – kinda the trade off for letting the folks sleep in was as long as we were quiet, there was no blood, and nothing was broken, it was sorta kinda ok.
oh, that absolutely nails JoeLie
I told my wife tonight I must be a bad person
because one reason I am so happy Obama won–besides it meaning Obama will be president and McSlime won’t–is that it really gives Lieberman his just desserts
he will get what he deserves for his disloyalty to Democrats and attacking Obama at the Repug convention and whispering in McSlime’s ear throughout the campaign
it would have been unbearable to see him gloat if McSlime had won
bye bye Joe, we don’t need you anymore
you are way out there on a limb all by yourself
have fun being a Republican lowlife–or a Party of One
you are history
Good morning Suzanne and pups. Special hello To TexBetsy and Teddy.
What a week, sorry to come back to this, but I have to say that seeing Obama being elected, and , heck, even his making it there in one piece is the best news I’ve had since the summer of 2002. It’s about time.
Remember the pictures I used to share with you once in a while? Well, I finally was able to get A Nikon d700 and a couple of really fast lenses. Just came back from shooting a show, 2600 pictures in three hours. Used to be a pro until 2000, working with film. These new Fx chips just suck the light out of a very dark scene. I’m amazed and learning a lot.
Well, I feel good, Suz, may I go for a dive?
your usual spot is all lite up for ya dood – there’s a westerly breeze coming in so take that into consideration and have fun.
In honoring your selection I am eating an organic carrot for Bugs wrapped with a muenster cheese slice for the mouse. You are in deep cheese country in Tillamook it is that time when cool weather arrives were 60 tommorrow.
Cujo,
Thanks for being vigilant. My husband was a Vietnam vet who survived torture at the hands of the North Vietnamese. Stopping torture as the law, policy and practice of the United States in the current mission of my life. I will be speaking at Harvard Law School about it on November the 24th, and back in Washington to lobby the new administration and congress.
With gratitude,
For Dan,
Heather
It’s good here, two days in the 70s. My new energy efficient furnace won’t heat the place, so I’m gonna be whining like lieberman ’til spring.
My parents loved to see Victor Borge on teevee, and then in person every summer at the Cape Cod Playhouse.
its 49 outside but a toasty 71 inside with the wood stove going. has been misty/drizzling all day. i’m watching the moon play peek a boo with the clouds coming across the cape.
hey heather – how ya doing?
Heather, long time no see…!
as an adult, i rediscovered him all over again. remember the pbs shows we would see at pledge time?
The old asking for the knife he put in our back back. That is hillarious let bygones be bygones.
Hey Suzanne :)
Very well, thanks. Up to my ears in school and getting ready for the presentation, but well, thanks :) How’s your day?
Hugs,
Heather
Hey CT,
Good to see you :) Sorry I’ve been so busy.
Hugs,
Heather
Hey. I know you take the best of pics. Whatever has happened with the antique treasures?
y’know, there’s a women we all admire who deserves the original of that cartoon. I might take a shot at it.
I didn’t mean to stop the thread … sorry
Thanks Suz.
I’ve been sitting on top of the 55 foot cliff. Waving at you folks. Well, time to let it fly, I’m talking off my bathing suit, and throwing it down to check on that breeze. Okay, getting up, I take a last look at the water, turn around, slide back my feet so I’m now on my toes. Visualize… Push off hard, half twist in the first flip, followed by a lazy piked front, open up and finish in a Baronnier, wich is a flip with a half twist, always looking at the water. I straighten up, hit the water, and I’m giggling. This is so cool. I’ll be floating on my back, reveling in this joy.
Thanks Suz.
OMG! Keep us posed, please.
Well, thank you, Heather. It sounds like you’re doing a heck of a lot more about the problem than I am, actually. Good luck with your talk, and maybe you should give a shout out to your fellow alumnus while you’re there.
I think the last time I saw those ‘toons I saw them in black and white
Srill in my possession, Talking to Lippman at christy’s, probably on the auction block next spring. But, I might just keep it, I don’t know how good auctions are during an economic fiasco…
Oh, wait, I assumed you graduated from Harvard. It occurs to me that sometimes people speak there who graduated somewhere else …
we were all waiting for q’s dive
they are a thang on beauty for sure
Visualize ya nakid…? Quite alright, I’ll avert my eyes thank you…! ;-)
uh, q, while you are floating, ya mind grabbing that bathiing suit ya tossed to check the wind and (ahem) cover up the jewels. ya know how cold water is.
Indeed, I didn’t have the good fortune to attend or graduate from Harvard, but I do believe their currently most famous alumnus might just come up
Hugs,
Heather
Heather, May the wind be at your back.
Zounds like some enchanted evening. Last night I got hooked on early Yma Sumac til 3 am. Sounds from the Inca Andes she was full of energy and enthusiasm as a mountain kid with all the animals and the big sky.
OOPs,
Sorry Quebecois.
With apologies,
Heather
Some things are best left to the imagination
somethings are best left
Just one more thing…
The mention of your husband’s experience brings back memories of wondering things like “what sort of people torture others?” Now, I can honestly say, “people like us.” I think that’s why I take this so seriously.
OK, I’ll stop cooperating in this thread hijack. ;)
Best luck.
Yeah, I really should cover up, thanks for pointing it out,,,
i killed my own thread thur nite about 20 minutes into it. or at least i thought i did. the threads are organic at night, they just go where they go, at the speed they wanna go at.
the ebb and flow of the lake
Thank you very much, Sunny,
I truly have the most wonderful angel giving me strength every single day.
Hugs,
Heather
no hijack – late late nite is where off topic is the topic
Hey, you’re pretty talented, diving and blogging at the same time!
Thanks, I appreciate that.
I’m working on my pics now, 2603 pics to wade through. But, it looks real good. I’ll try to post some in about 15 minutes.
Great!
I’ve never been able to predict things like that. Over at my little corner of the Tubez, I sometimes write things that I’m sure folks will either comment about, saying how crazy or, less plausibly, ingenius I am. Nothing. Others that are almost afterthoughts, go on for weeks.
It is what it is, and that’s all I’ve been able to figure out.
yeap – gotta keep the zen on when running a blog. and i have yet to figure out what folks will or will not comment on myself.
Doing it all virtually makes it much easier to context switch.
You are absolutely right. The most important thing that EVERY American can do to stop the torture and to hold those responsible to account is to stand up and tell your congressional representative, your senators and the new president “Not in My Name.”
Now I’ll stop. Thanks everyone for your patience.
Hugs,
Heather
((Heather))
Thanks for all you do. I hope someone is able to take some video of the presentation or if you don’t want that, a couple of still shots.
Tell me about it, I learned that awhile back…! Ironically, my farewell garnered the single highest day total in visits and page views to date… Go figure…! ;-)
I’ll make one more plug, though, for anyone who didn’t read my article. Avaaz has an online petition on the subject for President-Elect Obama. It’s not as effective as writing about the subject yourself, but if they can get the million signatures they’re after it will be something worth noticing, I think.
So, please, go sign it, everyone.
Thanks Suzanne ,I enjoyed the ‘toons
2:05 Am , bed sounds real good right now, plus I can’t type anymore!
G’night everyone!!
g’nite bbugs
((((((((((Margot)))))))))
Thanks very much. I will see what I can do about video.
Hugs,
Heather
Aloha, BB!
Signed it, cujo!
Word of such things usually gets around – though yours hadn’t gotten around to me. I’d say your circumstances aren’t something that you need to apologize for (I’m reading your article now). Is anyone minding the store over there? If so, if I do any articles that are related to your subject matter I’d be happy to cross-post, just to keep the place active.
Have a restful sleep, Billybugs, and an inspiring tomorrow.
Hugs,
Heather
Nite, Billybugs.

ooooooh, eye candy!
(((((((((((((((((((((((CT)))))))))))))))))))))))))))
I’m so sorry you’re going through these challenges. I wish I still knew someone in Hawaii who could help, unfortunately, they’ve been gone for some time. May you land on your feet soon.

Thanks VERY much for pointing out the petition :)

Jo Fish handles that… You can let him know at Democratic Veteran or when he drops in here from time to time…! I was about to assume ownership when I encountered this fix I’m in…! I’d like to carry on but I’m not sure if I’ll even have internet access from Monday on…
*yawns*
Sore as can possibly be after lugging my bed and my desk down 3 flights of stairs last night after work, and then dragging my desktop down tonight after i got out at 3pm.
Definitely liking the new digs better, along with the added kittens. Two ginger furred 13 week old boys, long haired. The escape artist is being called Houdini and the other, who has a lion’s ruff of fur around his neck rates Kintaro (Golden Boy). AKA Wuzzy and Fuzzy. *grin* He eats as much as the character, and will climb up your leg(or anything else), also will play with everything else. Which comes pretty close to fighting ogres when he’s climbing up your leg. XD
But i’m partway there. Just gotta make the goodwill runs, bring down the bookcases, clothes and a decent cleaning. Then i will be DONE and gone! YAY!
The one of the drummer from behind, where he’s grinning into the camera …. Yowza !!!!!!!!!!!!
Hugs,
Heather
(((((((((((((((((((((Alias)))))))))))))))))))))))))))
The kittens sound adorable :)

Clicked on Cujo 359 and there was the costume I wore to thr Lois Capps fund raiser here at the Dem event attended by of course the muckety muck. They were very uncomfortable as I was where all eyes could see. Lois was pretty cool about it. The hood and cape I used a black soil netting I could see through. Both parties make me morally uncomfortable have to make do the best you can. I sure there are many who feel this way.
And thank you for rolling up your sleeves on torture. I also wore it on our local government channel.
I’m so there, with ya, M’dear! Tomorrow will be my washer and dryer and I’m delaying with my computer as long as possible…!
snoopy happy dance
yay!
You were very good keeping us up to date much appreciated.
You can probably find a coffee shop or library that will provide wireless access. At this point, that sounds like the least of your worries. I’ll let Jo Fish know if I have anything appropriate.
i fucking h-a-t-e moving. i’m procrastinating big time on getting the pod up here – its still down in ca. as long as it is down there, i can be on that wonderful river called denial and ignore that i still have the other half of the move to do.
on the other hand, living outta two suitcases worth of clothing is a big downer.
Why thanks Chac, 22, 23, 24 are a pretty nice set. Helps that the guy is damn good looking, and to boot, a real nice person to talk to.
LOtsa washing clothing?? Especially unmentionables??
Computer first for me~ Where the bed and ‘puter lie is where i lay my head. When i barely watch tv to begin with, i better have ‘net. :D Everything else? Lags behind. I also need to invest in a futon, my day bed didn’t survive this trip. Stupid thing is too much of a pain to dissemble. So i’m sleeping on the floor on my mattresses for the next few months while i take care of a few needy bills and then make that investment.
Still kinda giddy from tuesday, it hasn’t worn off!
I don’t like to keep anybody out of the loop! ;-)
lotsa washing the half of the clothing that is appropriate up here. the other half were clothing that is appropriate to a july in ca.
BIO thought “Gridges on the River Kwai” and Manchurian candidate said how Americans detest torture. What happened to us “good guys”?
That’s one terrifying costume. I’m not particularly happy with either party right now, either. The Democrats are a little closer to my way of thinking than the Republicans, but some days I feel like even when I’m talking to them that I should have paid more attention to all those sci-fi episodes about first contact with alien species. Paging Dr. Jackson!
Amen, Suz! I don’t blame ya at all! ;-)
I think we got the idea that the rules didn’t apply to us any longer. At least, enough of us did that it made a quorum.
i would not have gotten through the first half of this one without the pups, and especially newton. he figured out exactly how to pack the pod which left me free to stress over the other parts of the move – like the critters and plants and the drive and the housing search and all the variables. i can worry and stress with the best of em :)
Welcome :) Very cool that he’s as nice as he looks :)
Have a good night folks, the adrenalyn is wearing off, been a long day. Time to go meet the bed. Thanks Suz and doggies.
Time for the pod or a trip to the local thrift store for warm stuff… you ARE going to need them!! It has been getting into the low to mid forties at night here and the Buck stove has been going constantly for weeks… I let it smolder on the warm days and then kick it up at night… Me and the cold have a pact I stay away from it and it stays out side where it belongs…buck keeps it at bay!
i hate it too..I have move dso many times I keep an appliance dolly with me. I could work for Muscle Head.
Cujo 359 I hear you. Sorry I don’t know what you do with with the war, but the local dems are are older folk…nice to see some active under 50 I guess they are to tired after working all day and caring for kids, house and landscape.
I do look forward to the evenings chatting with ya’ll after moving all day…! ;-)
Wow! Now that’s making a statement. Thank you for standing up and speaking truth to power in a way they couldn’t duck.
Hugs,
Heather
g’nite q
Have a restful sleep and an inspiring day, Quebecois.
Hugs,
Heather
same with my jotul – keeps me right toasty inside and i bank it down at nite.
I agree with you, and I think too many others just didn’t want to know or admit what was and is going on.
i will attest to that! bb was a big help during the pack the pod party at the cozy cottage by the creek in the redwoods.
i remember what a pain it was moving my crap into the pod – and i am not looking forward to moving it into the peaceful retreat on the bay whose only down side is it is upstairs.
I don’t do anything with the war(s), thankfully. I worked for the defense industry for a long time, and got to know the Army pretty well doing that. It’s hard seeing the kids we send off to Iraq training for their next tours.
I don’t do much gardening these days, not that I was into it all that much before …

I hope you get just as much willing help when you are unloading the pod :)

Houdini is the name of a dog I asked about. Turns out I couldn’t get her from the rescue shelter, because I have a chain link fence and Houdini climbs those.
I’m glad you have kitties and like your new place.
Hope you don’t have a lot of books. Many years ago, I helped move a friend from a fourth floor apartment. He had stacks of boxes of books. I was in my twenties at the time and I still thought I was going to die.
Friends, it’s time for me to hit the hay. Thank you so much for the warm welcome. Have a lovely rest when you get there and an inspiring day tomorrow.
Hugs,
Heather
Goodnight, Heather.
busted has already said he will help me – and he knows about the stairs (laughing)
Some —— decided the law was no longer operative after 9/11. No law. Not any law ever made by man or god. We were so very special, we could maim torture loot kill rob lie etc. and it was all for a very very good cause.
books and photograph albums. a cedar chest that belonged to my dad’s mom. yeah, lotsa heavy stuff :(
g’nite heather
double crap – not photgraph – phonograph… all my albums from when i was a pre-teen.
That is my problem, unfortunately. I’ve broken it down into smaller boxes of books so it’s easier to carry and cram into my car. But i still hurt like hell at the moment. I will until i get the rest of my roving library down. But i hardly buy anything else to begin with, besides cds or newish clothing. Not exactly a girl with the newest shiny toys as more a love of the simpler things. Good music, excellent books to read and a roof over my head to do both. For all that i’m one of the youngers of the firepups, i can’t never get the hang of books on a PDA, or Amazon’s Kindle. It just isn’t the same as familiar old paper.
So i get the backbreaking chore of book lugging for now.
i so feel for ya alias
Da pumpkin is call pups.
Nitey
Nite pups (:>)
Sleep Well when you get there!
Remember Obama Will be President soon!! maybe not soon enough but soon!!
Alias, seems you truly landed on your feet.. Congrats.

Margot…ex of Los Osos New Mexico came through for the election with flying colors. I attended the U of NM for a year after teh USMC it was fun. Later came back and worked for Arthur Murray 2.5 years of hunger cause we had fun but no money maybe $35.00 a week. Gut the Sandia Mountains, pinon nut up there and the old Hispanic families were awesome. Thr Lobos were the faves with trips to Mexico and Santa Fe and Taos. The sand paintings and native culture was enchanting. The sandstorms not so nice.
nite nahant, thanks for the use of your brain
I should talk. I have so many books lying around that aren’t even on shelves.
Anyhow, never liked books on computers for some reason. Well, one reason is that there are so many that have ridiculous copy protection schemes, which makes them about as ephemeral as skywriting.. I read quite a bit on computers, of course, but if I want to pay serious attention to something I usually print it out or find a hard copy.
Soaking in a hot bath wrapping up to exreme warms the muscles and helps the lactic acid leave along with the soreness unless you tore the muscles. Heat.
and epsom salts – helps draw out the toxins and soothes the skin.
Nite, Nahant.
CT, I just don’t know what to say, so….
(((((((((((((((((CT))))))))))))))))))))
great description, margot.
Thanks for the tips! No time for a bath right now, especially not at 3.17am in the early morning. Maybe once i’m done or nearly done. But i do intend to cocoon myself completely in my blankets. That should help quite enough for now along with the judicial use of anti inflammatory meds.
‘Night everyone!
PS: thanks sunny~ :D
For those Golden Girls fans, this had me laughing hard enough to have tears running down my cheeks:

ohmystars! from the utube:
’bout time for me to head out myself. g’nite pups and thanks for hanging out with me tonight.
Ah hitting the sack with your buddy dreaming of life after the pod is unloaded while settling in to a long cozy winters nap. After pleasantries on the lake. A cool dive, toons, music and friendship. Me too I was up to late last night. Did make a new redwood walkway in the garden today. That is worth some sleep. Nite all.
O.K., pups -
Long past time for those feet to be hitting the floor…….whadda bunch of sleepheads this morning!
Good morning, pups. It’s Dowd, Friedman, Kristof and Rich today. MoDo, in “The Tracks of Our Tears,” says it’s cool that President-elect Cool has gotten everybody chatting, even if it’s awkward small talk. And it’s fun, after so many years of unyielding barriers, to feel sentimental. (President-Elect Cool — already I feel we can see the direction that MoDo will take her savaging of President-Elect Obama…) The Moustache of Wisdom gives us “Show Me the Money,” and says to everyone overseas, he’s glad you all feel that America “is back.” If you want Barack Obama to succeed, though, don’t just show us the love, show us the money. It feels like he’s dusting off The Friedman Unit… Mr. Kristof, in “Obama and the War on Brains,” says when Barack Obama goes to Washington, he’s hopeful that his fertile mind will set a new tone for our country. Yeah — maybe it won’t be cool to be a bumbling moron any more. Mr. Rich says “It Still Felt Good the Morning After,” and that almost every assumption about America that was taken as a given by our political culture on Tuesday morning was proved wrong by Tuesday night.

The coffee, tea and hot chocolate are ready and I’ve got a French toast casserole with pecans on top. I’m planning on starting on my Christmas cookie baking today — spice cookies, rich chocolate drops, and a fruit and nut cookie called “rocks” because they look like igneous stone and don’t flatten out when baked. Have a great day.
Hey, Marion -
If you’re starting this early on the baking, how ’bout puttin’ me on yer list? Are these things you can freeze or do you distribute early in December?
Morning all, Coffee is done and has begun to work its magic. Football Sat is over, my alma whooped up on Tex A&M, next week off then Tex Tech, then OSU.
Good Morning, Marion the chocolate cookies sound delicious.
Morning all, is the Sunday morning lie-in still on? Lake was sooo quiet, looks the weeks carryon tuckered everyone out. Thanks for the papers and the spread this morning Marion, I don’t know how you do it unless you wrap old fish for fun.
I’ve got some I’m sending out to friends fairly far away, and the spice cookies and rocks keep extremely well in airtight tins with wax paper, or Ziploc bags with the air sucked out with a straw.
They’re yummy, and EXTREMELY easy:
Rich Chocolate Drops
1/2 cup butter, melted
1/2 tsp salt
1 tsp vanilla extract
1 cup sugar
2 eggs, beaten
3 squares of unsweetened chocolate, melted and cooled
3/4 cup all purpose flour
1/2 tsp soda
Mix all ingredients together. Drop by teaspoonfuls onto cookie sheets. (I let the batter sit and “tighten up” for about 15 or 20 minutes first.) Bake in a moderate oven (375° F) 8 to 10 minutes.
I wish the Sooners luck against Texas Tech– they’ll need it.
Someone’s got to stop the Tide.
Good Gawd, C=Span has Grover Norquist on. Not on Sunday morning C-span
I’ve got 2 litter boxes that have to have something underneath them!
Sunday heads up
all in good cause then, but the eyestrain!
Sunday Talking Heads is upstairs…
