Writ large (with level of information in that post), I quite like the idea / approach.

I find it overlapping, quite nicely, with the DeserTREC concept / development. Take a look at: http://getenergysmartnow.com/2.....le-vision/ That might provide you some ideas to consider. If you comment there, as you desire, we can be in contact as I’d welcome more info re your concept, approach, requirements, financing, etc …

Agree on this. Canada is heading down a deadly path which America’s oil addiction can hasten. Let us hope that is not a Faustian bargain that the Obama Administration chooses to make.

Actually, George the W’s White House put solar panels (both electric and hot water) back in the White House compound in Sept 2002. Now, I don’t know if there are any on the WH roof itself, as opposed to support buildings.

According to this website, 32 panels were installed 1n ‘79 by Carter and were used to heat water. They were removed by Reagan in ‘86.

Appears the National Park Service installed a substantial number of panels in ‘02 to provide water heating and electricity for the WH grounds - per NPS policy.

In ‘92 the original panels were sent to Unity College, ME, where they were put in use.

Unity received a note from Carter after the panels were reinstalled there saying he was glad they had found a new home. The college still has a large framed photo of the former president at a ceremony marking the installation of the panels at the White House.

In ‘04 Unity declared panels worn out and sought permission to auction them.

I went to change.gov, and using the “share your vision” link, posted some bullet points, one of which was a rebate of federal gasoline tax for high-MPG vehicles (50+MPG, so some hybrids, motorcycles, scooters, etc.).

I just hope Obama isn’t seduced by our Canadian Conservative Prime Minister Harper offering a “secure” energy supply in exchange for a climate change pact - with the big catch being any US regulations would exempt the Alberta Tarsands from regulations or punishment for emissions of Greenhouse Gases — and it is Canada’s largest emitter of GHG.

I urge Obama not to listen or accept this climate agreement or the “secure oil” guarantee without pressuring Canada to have a credible climate change fighting environmental plan in place - not the current one that Al Gore called a “complete and utter fraud.. designed to mislead the Canadian public”.

Am I remembering correctly that Carter put them up, and Reagan took them down? Were they up during Clinton’s presidency?
