That is just excellent. I also e-mailed Reid. I listed some of the despicable things Lieberman has done and said that he had not earned a committee at all, never mind the chair. I hope many people are contacting Reid and others to get this job done. Enough.

Here’s the text I sent Sen. Reid:

As the daughter of a POW from WWII who died days before the dismay of the 2004 Presidential election in Ohio, I am appalled that Sen. Lieberman was offered the Veterans Affairs Committee chairmanship.

Sen. Lieberman made it clear throughout the campaign-right up to election day- that he was supporting Sen. McCain for president instead of Sen. Obama. Senators McCain and Lieberman have voted against the best interests of Veterans over and over again.

The work of the Veterans Affairs Committee will be crucial in the coming months, yet you hold it in such low regard that it is offered to a disgraced Sen. Lieberman. It cannot be glossed over with statements that “everyone has the right to their own opinion.” Democrats, elected or private citizens, had only one reason not to support Obama, it was racism. The military continues to be an important tool for the Americanization of our melting pot but Sen. Lieberman now symbolizes something quite different to African American, Hispanics and even women.

Do not allow your senatorial comraderie to forget that elections have consequences. Veterans will feel no confidance in his oversight. As a cheerleader for this misguided and poorly conducted War of Aggression in Iraq, Sen. Lieberman is compromised as a wise and fair guardian of veterans rights and benefits. Having sent our soldiers into battle for no good reason, the ones who return deserve more than Sen. Lieberman.

Lieberman does not want something useful to do. He wants the power to cause trouble. He never investigated the Bush Administration, going back on his word to do so. Based on the crap he spewed at the Republican convention, and at both McCain and Palin rallies, you can bet he will cause trouble, and investigate exhaustively the Obama administration.

If whiny Lieberman is denied the Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs chairmanship, what, he becomes a full-fledged member of the Christian Coalition? he starts voting straight-ticket right-wing Republican?
Let’s have some honesty - this SOB never investigated a thing in the Bush administration; how much damage can he do to the Obama administration?
Harry Reid needs to grow a pair, and issue a public statement:
“Senator Lieberman has threatened to leave the Democratic caucus if we strip his chairmanship. This effectively means that the good senator doesn’t really believe the things he is voting for. We are all for honesty. Therefore, goodbye, Senator Lieberman. Please don’t let the door hit you in the arse on your way out.”

shee-it! One of my major beefs with McCain was his voting record on veteran’s issues. I didn’t know that Hojo was his twin in this regard. what an insult to veterans to put him in charge.

really, reid needs to hand the reins to someone else. this is really stupid.

Cut him loose and don’t look back. And, DO NOT give McCrazy the Vet Affairs chair. He doesn’t deserve it after his vote (or lack of voting)against the Webb GI bill.
