Parov Stelar "Chambermaid Swing"
Jeff Lewis Band "End Result"
From Austria, Parov Stelar, swings swiftly through a fun video. Followed by New York folk singer, Jeffrey Lewis, with a song from his album, 12 Crass Cuts.
On a sad note, R.I.P., Yma Sumac.

evening ES and ZED!
Aloha, ES!
Eureka!
Digg IT!
That was an authoritative zed…! No hesitation, eh? ;-)
Good evening all…)
Good evening Suzanne et al.
Feel asleep for a couple of hours early tonight, then woke up & am bright eyed & bushy tailed. Not a good thing for 1:30am, but I’ll have some fun here.
Q: Where’s my Schadenfreude?
A: Rahmbo ate it.
Nope! (:>)) When you are sure you are sure!!
How goes it on the Home front CT?
Good evening, Eureka Springs!
I have some photos up at The Silo, taken by the fiance, of today’s SF March for Civil Rights.
Also links to photos in other cities: Long Beach and Salt Lake.
I was busy packing and moving stuff to storage today, the wifey is home and impossible to keep strapped down… Maybe I should get heavier duty Duct tape…
Should make for an interesting Late, late thread then…! ;-)
Always nice to see you. I was just catching up a bit myself. Reading the 50 state thread.
I don’t know what to make of it, but I can say without a doubt, AR was not at all a part of the 50 state strategy this year.. and a state with A Dem Gov, two Dem senators, three of four congressmen are Dem, and 70(ish) Dems out of a hundred, in the state house.
But the state went McCain plus 11…. because nobody tried at all.
Teddy… You have been on my mind. Glad to hear you have been on the march! *g*
Salt Lake, eh? Yeah! Take the fight to the enemy’s home turf! *g*
What’s happening? Where will you live?
i’ve been readin’ all over the internet .. aren’t the right-wingers turning into a fine bunch of cannibals .. palin’s ghost .. lepers .. althouse .. jon swift .. eating each other whole .. lol .. we should offer them spices and bbq sauce ..
ohhhhh good bye Joe

but it’s good-bye-o
good bye joe
it’s time ya know

we curse your name
and cast you out-o
good-bye joe
you gotta go
now say good-bye-o ..
Tabula rasa
Try some Baling wire…. she will need wire cutters get break out(:>)) So make sure you hide them well!
I don’t know if you get these email Teddy but Cpurage Campaign is behing you!
So I guess these next couple of months we’ll really be able to tell the progressives from the Kool Aid* drinkers. Already hearing the cries of “Don’t question Obama!” all over the damn place. Fuck. That. No fucking way in hell am I going to become just like the drooling Faux News fuckwits.
Oh, and Bill Ayers speaks, or writes, whatever.
*Actually, it was Flavor Aid, not Kool Aid, that was used at Jonestown.
beautiful! thanks teddy!
because it is.
Looking at a weekly studio rental for now…
oh please don’t cry
we’dpit n your eye
it’d feel so
fine-o
to see you gone
will be much fun
oh joe good-bye-o …
Did the DNC focused on congressional/senate races, or did they get involved in presidential stuff?
(((CT)))
I actually feel bad for Palin. They built her up, now they’re tearing her down.
My mind boggles that the media kept all the Palin “stuff” until after the election. Sarah, with some Rovian tactics, might be our VP, maybe pres. at some future date.
Why weren’t the citizens informed about the potential disaster that we barely averted? I reckon her ignorance/stupidity wasn’t that obvious to all voters if her team got 46%.
This belongs on Julia’s thread, but I put it here because you all are moving quickly tonight. .. Hi eCAHN.
Hey, selise! You’re up late/early too…! ;-)
In terms of AR, they are ghosts. period.
Period sounds so definitive, ES!
(((CT))) Hope it works out.
We need Howard Dean to be our poster man for Blue America now. You know, since he’s available. /s
Hi Pat!
http://rawstory.com/news/2008/….._1107.html
can’t sleep and am too tired to think.
Mahalo! So do I…! *g*
I hear, from someone who interviewed for prez of UVT when Dean was gov, that he has a nasty ego. So BlueAmerica is probably too little for him. But if we could get him …
I’ve never seen anything like what happened (NOT) here this year… on a county scale, much less an entire state.
Ok, a couple of guys can build this in their garage, a big cruiser motorcycle that has about 3 times better fuel economy, and at least equal power, to a Harley. Yet Harley, and hell, Detroit for that matter, can’t pull off anything that comes close to that?
Oops, forgot the link. And yes, that’s a butt ugly motorcycle, but it’s looks aren’t the point.
Bill Maher is on here on the west coast Pups… He seems happy!
Clear message to Joe the Plumber “shut the hell up!!”
That was great!
anyone else see the Family Reseach Council’s tony Perkin’s comments today? He says the rethugs lost becaus of a dangerous threat to democracy - moderate rethugs. to reclaim their party and return of to the path of victory, he demanded a purge of the moderates and a commitment to some type of wingnut 1000 yr Reich over party affairs.
boy, the next few months are going to be fun….
No chains, belts or drive shafts!!
I remember reading somewhere that Preston Tucker wanted to do something similar for the Tucker Sedan, but the idea got canned.
Norquist had to chime in with the same bile too…!
I hope you approved of his message wherever it was posted. /s
As someone said earlier, they will purge the party until they get a majority.
unbelievable… basically their meme is, to win elections they need to be wackier and wingnuttier. If this faction prevails, by 2012, they’ll be running in white sheets, and their nominating convention will be done by speaking in tongues.
But think of the entertainment value. Schadenfreudefest on steroids.
Yma Sumac - Tumpa
They aren’t already…? ;-)
Wasn’t she amazing?
We can only hope they’re that dedicated to their purge. Makes me wonder what the moderates will do in response. Not just the politicians, but the voters, contributors, volunteers, etc. The moderates were the ones who got McCain nominated, and he was probably their best shot. Maybe Huckabee could’ve performed better, but the conservatives hated him. He’d raised taxes or something while governor.
Day three Solar update with new pictures!
do you think that the purge of more moderates from the R party will be a good thing for the country?
The moderate Rs did nothing to assure their succession. The only thing remaining of the R party is the neocons, whose succession is assured by think tanks, family ties; the religous nutcases, who have their church structure; and talk radio.
BTW, watch out for the neocons reinvading the D party, since the Rs look likely to be out of power for awhile.
I don’t know, it’s bad enough that we only have two viable parties. I’d hate to think what things would be like with only one.
Could be if they vote for Democratic progressives candidates! But then…..
Do you think that the moderates know they don’t have to go. Why do these far right wingnut assholes take for granted that they are in charge? T
It is what it is. See my 58.
Who will replace the GOP? Neo-nazi types? Or a more moderate group? Maybe another new party will form to the left of the dems.
Because they are in charge. When was the last time the R moderates had influence? Seems like it must have been before Goldwater. (Probably an exaggeration, but allow me to make my point.)
Tango Anyone?
This is a strong woman with an amzing lovely voice what a legacy. Yma does an agentine Tango. What a voice!
True. It must be fatiquing to have to keep up that asshole energy all of the time. Asshole never takes a vacation.
eCAHN, any rhyme or reason as to why the Labor Department, in today’s report…
Notice that the original number for September 2008 was a drop of 159,000. It was now revised to 284,000. The original August number was a drop of 84,000, now revised to 127,000. How much do you wanna bet that October’s will be revised too…?
Completly…I remember her in late 50’s those 8 octaves…fantastic.
Interesting question. Would you say the moderates are the financial conservatives, not the fundies?
If so, there are more than enough Dems to represent them.
So it might not be good for the progressive wing… what little there is.
The main reason I have always been a D, regardless of D policies (which I generally favor but am often highly critical of) is that Rs have always, in my adult lifetime (half a century) been mean. Don’t know how they can live that way.
I don’t think the corporatists are going to go down without a fight… which may mean some type of civil war. I actually think that the corporatists will ultimately prevail but not before their cause is greatly damaged… and ours as well, because both sides will try to outdo each other in attacking the Dems. nothing good will come of this, but it is looking increasingly likely and it does promise to be at least somewhat entertaining, on a good deal. We also need to watch out for frustrated corporatists to try to defect to our side… and they’ll probably be welcomed with open arms by the likes to Reid and Steny.
Yma does the animation singing for Sleeping Beauty my dad was one of the animators.
and Rahm.
Historically, and reliably, revisions have been pro-cyclical, i.e., downward when the economy is tanking & upward when it’s doing well. So yes, you caught onto the pattern quickly. At turning points, I used to use revisions as one of my confirming indicators.
Don’t know for sure why BLS does not adjust to this regular bias. Suspect it is because they think they would be harshly criticized, in both directions.
As I mentioned earlier today, I’ve talked to many govt data drones at great length, and they are serious dedicated people doing a job that is largely thankless.
Baloney. The corporatists have already, and will complete soon, the shift to Ds. They don’t care the party affliation, only care who will do their bidding.
That’s cool!
Wow, Teddy. There’s some great energy there. I was taken back to 1977?
Something’s happening.
And they have never done any thing for the middle class or the common man/woman. They have always favored Big money! I can never vote vote one of them mainly just for those reasons!
Is that how you came to live in Los Osos? There were a number of Disney animators who retired there. And the LooneyTunes dudes retired to Pismo Beach hence Bugs Bunny’s constant references to the place.
I had forgotten all about that role.
You know she never had professional voice training.. claimed she learned it all from the critters of the wild, in Peru as a child.
I’m not sure… I think rahm’s instinct (despite being something of a Dem version of a corporatist himself) is to kick rethugs when they’re down and to keep on kickin just cause he gets some sort
of high out of doing so. e
Well pups it’s that time again…
Nite
Nite
Sleep well you get there pups(:>))
Well, they do try to avoid having our collective eyes glaze over or roll back in our eye sockets…! ;-)
Aw, come on, wigwam. When Howard Dean visits president Obama, Rahm will have to bring them coffee.
Back from a long, long day. Drove over 400 miles today, to play a 75-minute concert at Kenai High School. Beautiful winter weather, though. And we kicked butt in the concert.
Aloha, nahant!
There was a time when R econ policies made some sense. Not since the supply-siders took over, though. Since then, they have been actively anti-labor (they “labor” under the delusion that corps create jobs, when it is consumer spending that creates jobs), and labor loses the power battle even without active opposition.
Good night nahant.
Your comment endeared my to Rahm just a little. And I’m not a violent person. *g*
Yma
Playing with her voice.
yeah. it’s weird. it’s like they’re more committed to a cargo cult ideology (God will reward those who ascribe to the principles of minimal government, radical ‘personal responsibility’, laisse faire free enterpris, rule by corporations, etc etc) instead the practical benefits of free enterpris
Problem is.. he only sees it as an R or D game.. nothing else.. An R in the D party is a win to him.
Unless it’s a Dem trying to, you know, consider their oath of office or something. He wont have that.
Cargo cult is a great description of current R econ & political ideology. Do you mind if I confiscate the idea without attribution?
Still digesting this Heritage forum on 2008 election & conservative women that I made myself watch on cspan Friday. These delusional women think anyone can be prez, and that is Palin’s appeal to them. Plane lands, prez pops out, full bore, baby hung over her arm. Itsa miracle!!!

Said “just a little.” Am familiar with the Rahn loyalty test. Some pundit (or perhaps more cogently, a commenter here) described Rahm’s politics as team sports. Nothing matters except the home team wins. No principles.
Actually I was with Blackjack in a 1968 cabover camper at Morro Bay and a gentleman recommended to go to Los Osos so here am I like Major Tom…but was standing on a sandspit tonight after a moonlite row just after sunset the water was glass the moon and star were out and the lights of the village were glowing on the hillside. A wonderful way to get aeration through tto the cells. As I stood on the spit looking up into the same universe that Yma and the Incas were so enamored with a great exhilaration of the wonder of what CT gets to see when he goes up the mountain.
The empty store are a message from the consumers…if we don’t have disposable incomes they don’t make profits. Game over. They cheated and they lost but theu won for 3 decades so they are crying all the way to the bank.
yes. and while the neocons and fundies have been busy taking over the R party, the moderate Rs have been taking over the D (ok, that’s a stupid simplification, but i’m too tire to do better). i think eCHAN’s explanation of the infrastructure is right on.
I missed that analogy.. but I have been wondering if a lot of peoples brains as of late have not been able to switch from football to politics very well. Loyal to a fault.
Hmmmmmmm: http://www.alternet.org/audits/106189/
It’s amazing how crystal clear the sky is and how close they appear up there…! ;-)
Heh. Like your characterization of me better than mine. Thought you were too tired to think. *g*
Two wings of the same effort:
* Rahm Emanuel as Chief of Staff.
* Jane Harmon as Director of CIA.
How’s that shaping up?
don’t know, except to say i don’t like the outline i’m seeing when i connect the dots.
nite all, going to try to sleep. thanks for keeping me and my insomnia company.
And Jello Jay taking charge of commerce (Telcoms etc.). Just peachy… with a lot of worms.
Good night selise. Sleep well.
You know I don’t appreciate or even like Rahm Emanuel. Thst being said, Obama’s choice of Emanuel does this:
1. Gets him out of the House leadership brawl
2. Gate favors owed to Obama by people in the House who hated or feared Emanuel
3. Gets the Israel first clique out of his hair for a while, and right off the bat
4. Gives Obama leverage in the selection of both his own and Emanuel’s successor in the IL congressional delegation
5. Gets Emanuel’s experience in WH mechanics into his tool kit (I may regret having said this one…)
6. And forces Emanuel to work for him, rather than against him. The dude appears to be loyal, at least.
Were getting Hoovered high tech style by our own!!!
Interesting. I don’t know politics well enough to opine intelligently on your points.
But a general observation. Your points seem like second stage considerations, the first stage being that Rahm is far from progressive. In economics, second stage rarely outranks the primary one.
J. Edgar Hoovered to the hundredth power. FISA on steroids.
3. Gets the Israel first clique out of his hair for a while, and right off the bat
Out of who’s hair?
I’ve never really known whether or not the questions of Rahm’s possible dual citizenship have merit, but his family (father) sure seems to have some odd history.
My opinion of Emmanuel.
Too odd… Having been an extremist zionist in the occupied territories of Palestine…!
The full Palin Anchorage limited press availability today (in AK). Weird shit….
Well, I need to be up and at’em early tomorrow morn, I shall bid ya’ll a fond adieu! Aloha Oe!!!
>Video.. Watch this, ET!
Rahm and Obama at AIPAC.
Rahm also served in the Israeli army.
I caught a lot of it earlier.
Very very weird.
As we say down south…. bless your heart.
Oy.
Yeah.
Well, we (the country) did what we had to do with what we had to work with.
Now it’s time to take off any pretense of rose colored glasses and ATTACK!
Good night firedogs
Good night ES. Me too, shortly.
nite ES
Night all.
I saw an Yma Sumac album when I was 19 years old. I’m 62 now. I’m sorry to say that I was so immature I thought it was a joke. I am feeling a little sad. RIP, Yma Sumac.
The lake hasn’t been this quiet for ages, not a breeze stirring to ripple the waters, nice reflection of the moon and stars amongst the silhouettes of the pines along the shore.
Morning T-Bear, I have been surfing around and just dropped by to see if anyone was up.
Thought I’d throw some chum in see if anybody was stirring this time of day (+9 hours here). Just waiting for PUAC and what is cooking in that kitchen.
Robert Fisk has some observations on Obama and the needed correction to US policy, Fisk is always good.

Great tunes and cool videos. But what’s with all those confusing extra commas, Eureka?
“From Austria, Parov Stelar, swings swiftly through a fun video. Followed by New York folk singer, Jeffrey Lewis, with a song from his album, 12 Crass Cuts.”
should read:
“From Austria, Parov Stelar swings swiftly through a fun video. It’s followed by New York folk singer Jeffrey Lewis, with a song from his album 12 Crass Cuts.”
He’s not the only folk singer in New York, right? And this probably isn’t his only album. I know these posts are dashed off quickly, but a quick reread from somebody can make the info much clearer at first glance.
