Ah man, Blues Brothers, thats a fav here.
anybody who hasn’t Just Said No To Joe, please see the form to the right
i figured sweet home chicago was too obvious…
Hi Suz, nahant, CT, and everyone. Great relaxing and grooving music. I sure needed that.;)
nahant, just for you… ;-)
suz–on my way to hitting the feathers, saw the post…
omg, steve cropper…something in the way he moves. huge crush.must be his attitude. dunno.

Hiya! OK– Sarah Bernhardt on Watertigers pics? Please advise! Patty?
Digg fixed.
It’s a damn good thing they had the MGs backing them up. On another note, Oiligarchy’s a great game, get to play the part of oil executive, including some of the more vile shit they pull. Reminded me a little bit of 3rd World Farmer, another great flash game.
~~~ModNote: Edited for content. Some Flash links are crash-prone, and these have been removed.~~~
Dam and mine was first by one minute!! Oh well as long as it got Dugg Neuro!!
Were you able to use that utility to copy your files and settings over??
Dugg dear nahant – thanks for leading by doing. ;~)
saw it and thanks dmac – g’nite
A-ha, that makes three…! Aloha(again!)
Margot!
Hey, It is me.
Alright!!
And for all you pups following our Solar installation here is day two update!
Our network was down for a while so I couldn’t do it. Then I started wondering, do I really want to transfer all my files? Would my computer get confused if I had both Office 2000 and Office 2007? Would the security programs from my old computer conflict with the one on my new computer? Or do program files not transfer over? Just wanted to run that by you before I screw anything up.
I suggest you go, recommend, Digg, and leave a comment.
am i the only one still recovering from the election season – i swear, canada’s way of electing sure seems a whole hella lot more sane than the clusterfuck way we do it down here.
dayam, i killed my own thread by mentioning being tired
So it seems…!
Here is what you need, Suzanne
Hi Chris, dmac.;)
Suz, you didn’t kill your thread. I bet everyone is just bone tired.
I am also still recovering. After 4 days of GOTV I am having a hard time remembering what was going on in my regular life. Disorienting.
hahahah dayam, now i gotta get up, stand up and dance
Sweet dreams intrepid late late firedogs – always such a treat to catch you all in live time but if you’ll forgive the cliche, this ole brat is bushed. ;~)
I was going to drop a RGJoe link in to liven things up, but that droopy sucker still has his stripes.
So instead, classy, classy GOP strategist Tripp Baird.
Ja Mon! Marley!
g’nite npb ((( )))
Aloha, NPB!
nite npb
the only way hojo could liven up the lake is by being cashiered
Suzanne, if that didn’t do it, try this
i actually thought about using that tune tue nite
if we were still biting our nails waiting to learn who our next president was gonna be, i had anticipation in the queue
if those didn’t work, maybe something like this will…
Still exhaling here.
No Suz. We’re all recovering from the glee and the crazy. There’s no doubt it was a long haul and THEN some. The fun part? Our work has just begun.
For now? Party for this weekend(and finish moving my skinny but OUT), and then work to get things smooothed out and then one more weeklong world party after the Inauguration! XD
ohhhhhh that’s a good one – i fear, however, that the only thing that could get me amped tonight is choctow bingo by mcmurtry. alas, there is still not a good utube of it :
well, perhaps this would do some good…
i’ve always been partial to the dylan version
Daym both versions are freaking great in my book!!
neuro, i gotta admit, everytime i hear 61, it makes me think of 55
*crickets*
here is something that might stir you up a bit
I love the Peter Gunn theme.
Hi everyone.
that James McMurtry was a long one!
hey cujo
hey, Cujo
i have been trying to keep Suzanne awake, but apparently I put everyone to sleep
swoon – my first front page post here evah was neil
then for something a little different
carrying on and filling some dayam big shoes
Huh, what? Just resting my eyes.
How are you two, then? Are you settled in yet, Suzanne?
I am good, Cujo
Two days rested from Election Day
About ready to see what else is going on in the world
any lurkers out there want to take the stage for a while?
not settled but settling in. my pod is still in ca – i’m gonna have to get off my tushkie and face the fact that i still have the other half of the move to do. but i am settling into the flow of life on the bay. i lose hours staring out the window, watching the birds on the bay, the tide come and go. i love the way the clouds swirl around cape lookout, looking all wispy as it envelopes the trees.
of course, its not february yet (laughing) but so far, i like living on the coast in winter.
I’m about getting back to normal. Between election night and some other activities involving theatre, I’ve been up pretty late lately.
I saw Obama’s acceptance speech. It was very impressive. There wasn’t a dry eye in the house, I think.
I still here just moving a bit slower tonight… some nights things get out of hand and this is one of them(:>((
neuro did you use the easy transfer??
ok, after this i am really diving into the feathers—
here ya go.
on this site you have to stop the video on the right playing….then, click on the title on each at the top.
it’s european.
sorry to hear that nahant but glad you are still here
I’ve been to the Washington coast in winter on a few occasions. Make sure you don’t have drafts in your house. Other than that, it should be lovely. For some reason, I think the ocean looks better when it’s overcast.
asked and answered nahant, see my 25
Nite, dmac.
mine sure weren’t
i’m on netarts bay with the ocean on the other side of the spit. i can’t see it but i can hear the roar of the surf.
i’m in a 100 year old house – of course there are drafts (laughing) but the jotul wood stove keeps me quite toasty.
Has anyone heard if the GOP has mentioned ACORN once? I’m wondering why they have not brought it up yet.
(((nahant))) sorry you are having one of those nights dood
Office 2007, bleh. I was recently presented with one of the new format presentations (a .ppx file or whatever). Nothing except Office 2007 plays this allegedly “open” format. Everything else I tried, including MS’s own conversion software, turned it into random flux variations on a hard drive.
Hi Cujo, good to see you.
Thanks neuro for your kind thoughts(:>))
Oh and thanks for the sunshine at my solar diary(:>))
Haven’t heard anything. I really don’t expect to, given the margin of victory in the Presidential campaign. It’s not as though they can point to one state and say “if we won that one, McCain would be the President-Elect”.
Of course, I could be wrong about that. They seem to live in an alternate universe some days.
Hi Margot. Likewise.
they make their own reality doncha know
here is a hopeful thought
it was just one of many smokebombs thrown by the McInsane Campaign
no substance whatsoever
peter gunn is my bomb shit, don’t even take me there ;)
Wish I could do that. I just haven’t figured out how to persuade others to fund it …
Just think of all the money we could save with publicly financed campaigns the network TV guys get the airwaves for free I believe the least they can do is provide some more free air time for local and National races.
After all what is cheaper a publicly financed campaign or the amount of cash that Obama and McCain raised?
Rather than waste that money on buying Sarah’s family a new wardrobe we voters could have spent that money on the economy.
If Obama looks good heading into the next House and Senate races the GOP might be willing to listen to the idea or maybe they need to lose to Obama again in four years.
KITTIES!
Not to worry neuro programs do not transfer over only files and settings! So go ahead and use it I have used it many times and have been very pleased with the results.
cujo office 07 does have those EXTRAS but you can also use it to save in down rev formats. The new formats have a lot more FEATURES in it thats also… Ya know whistles and bells!!
Agreed. Basically, it was a case of, shall we say, selective attention to facts. By the time I could get around to writing about it, quite a few folks had smacked the cretins who were spreading that stuff around pretty well already.
good to see you That Guy, I have been knocking myself out trying to find some upbeat tunes to keep Suzanne awake
don’t suppose you would have any delbert?
True but what about us does anyone else think that maybe Karl tweaked a few elections to help the GOP keep a few more Senate seats?
Karl did bend over backwards to move the GOP convention to try and screw Al Franken.
I wonder if Karl did some vote stealing to keep Al out of the Senate?
After all just think of all the material Al will get for another book after he is in the Senate?
do the right thing america – kitties
Drop in the bucket for the economy these days. That money would have bought a nice planetary probe or a couple of good medical research programs, though. Maybe the could have bought a few shredding trucks to add to the Vice President’s fleet.
Kitties definitely have my vote!
LEt the Good times roll
Love shack
Now that should open some eye lids!!
good times bad times
I expect Karl to start blaming Obama for the collapse in the stockmarket soon that and the GOP talking heads will all start spouting Conventional Wisdom about not raising taxes during a Depression.
Never mind that is what FDR did.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Franklin_D._Roosevelt
Here is one for McCain and Palin
Looks like they were within a few hundred votes there, with a third party candidate (Minnesota – Land of 1000 Third Parties). If I were Karl, which of course means I wouldn’t have any ethical boundaries to speak of, I’d have been shoveling as much money as I could have into whatsisname’s campaign, figuring that most of his votes would have gone to Franken otherwise.
those are some good times alright, nahant!
Ah sweet Sister Suezanne, last night of 4 in a row so keep the fire stoked and the tunes comin’…what a difference a Democratic election victory makes…and the humor is back in politics listenin’ ta the corporate media shills try and create a new mythology ta cover the death of the old one…Reagan is dead, long live democracy!!!
Part of the reason we’re in a recession is that there’s less capital, and part of the reason there’s less capital is because the federal government is borrowing money like crazy. Somehow, I think taxing people who have lots of money to pay for that debt isn’t going to hurt us under these circumstances.
I suspect this makes me part of the lunatic fringe. It’s a place I’m feeling more comfortable lately.
a little mellower but so true, not even for John!!
oh, i love that one
however – this has mcsame/phailin all over it
Hoover’sBush’s way for 8 years Obama needs to try the FDR way he needs to sell his economic policy by saying this is what FDR did after Hoover gave us the Great Depression after another period of Republican Economics.How about some Lee Roy Parnell?
Lee Roy taught me a lot about slide guitar.
My favorite version also with all those great sceans!! and yes that one sums them up well!!
Any word on the latest from Al Franken?
A little Jethro to keep you awake!!
I expect the GOP to scream that regulation on business will cost jobs. Our reply should be sure poison cat food makers in China will all be unemployed if Obama gets the FDA working again.
It was well delivered!!
BTW, had you all seen this Tom Toles cartoon yesterday? Brought tears to my eyes.
What is it about Late Late Night that makes it so easy to write comments I might turn into Diaries? For politically aware people Late Late Night is like a creative writing class.
Its free writing with feedback.
How true how True. Gee and maybe if the resurrect the Glass Steagle act the markets will work well.. And you just might see your 401k grow again. Ya keep the pornographic greed out of the markets… Thanks Phil graham…asshole
Cool!
funny how that works isn’t it!
the no pressure free flowing off topic is the topic? i don’t know but i gotta admit that the late late nite comments have always been my favorites. we can get all silly or can dig deep into the wonky bits. or both at the same time. i don’t know what it is that makes lln special, but i do know it is special.
On my good days, yes.
Moving from a regulated economy to a less regulated economy produces cost savings as people cut corners. Looser strings on borrowing provides cash for new ideas and cheap credit means that more people can buy.
The problem is that like any drinking binge you crash sooner or later.
The GOP like an Alky though never remembers the hangover they remember the Buzz.
Early success breeds confidence that you are infallible and the market will keep going up every bubble is about to burst when the regular players start believing their own sales pitch/scam.
When other people not insiders enter a market they don’t understand with big money and start believing a con job based on past success then the bubble might have only a few years left.
A big enough bubble worldwide can leave no safe place for your cash.
Ditto to your last three comments, actually.
It is that time again pups the pumpkin has my name on it and I must succumb to it’s call! Nitey
Nite Pups sleep well when you get there and Don’t worry it is true Barack Obama did win the election and Shrub will be Dust in the wind of Crawford Texas and they will have their village idiot back!!
but of course they do and we love them for it(:>))
I think Suz at 126 explains how it works good.
Hmmm why it works I don’t know but given that we are the premier night owl blog I wonder why Starbucks and red bull don’t advertise here?
Do they even remember? I’m not being snarky, I’m just wondering. This sort of economic collapse has happened, for slightly different reasons each time, at least four times (sorry, long article, scroll about halfway down) in our history. To remember the boom of those times seems to inevitably mean you also remember the busts.
Citizen ThingsComeUndone:
Bingo…I hope you expand many of the thoughtful musings you’ve made here late nights. This is indeed a wonderful “petrie dish” of thought, rants and poetry of the life of thoughtful and engaged people (kinda like “talkin’ union blues” of the soul). I like the late night ‘cuz it provides time for the friendship part of relationships of people involved with their world.
Like I once said to a self important academic type who never did understand Emily Dickenson’s poem: “Welcome to the swamp Professor Frog”…and give us the links to yer diaries.
Tea or Yerba Matte for me Coffee seems to acidic now as I get older but once in a while I binge on fair trade stuff.
I say give obama a chance to show us what he can do
let him do it his way for 2 years and do not get him all bogged down with idealogical issues, let him try to make government work for us by whatever means necessary
keep the pressure on to move in the right direction, but do not cripple his ability to succeed by demanding perfection on every issue
we have been handed a great opportunity for positive change. let’s not blow it.
I suppose they might be, but they’re also generally well insulated from the consequences of economic failure. Generally, they aren’t the ones who will be out of work for years, or will lose their homes. They’ll lose a pile of cash they never had much real connection to in the first place, but they won’t be trying to figure out which brand of dog food goes best with $0.35 cent mac and cheese dinners, either.
Poetry I should dig up some of my old stuff sometime. I think I will build up a collection of Diaries and then expand them as a group later.
I want to compare Obama’s first year with how Bush left us. Recycle in writing is editing and expanding your previous thoughts after having time to reflect.
Goto go fire alarm went off again at the condo 12th time this year I’ll be back later.
whacher plans besides sleep?
is that a question?
lol
well the republicans can do a lot to obstruct and delay, I would give him more time to work things out
by 100 days we should have some idea what kind of progress he is making, but I think he deserves more time than that to achieve major results
Walk, don’t run :-)
nite margot
I say tell him what we want in no uncertain terms right now. There’s some stuff (for instance, what I mention in that link) that he’s going to have to work on the moment he takes office. Don’t let him think he has any free time to start working on whatever Rahm Emanuel will have him doing.
forget about it.
i barely voted.
100 for me 730 for the rest.
Nite, Margot.
Citizen Suzanne:
Birday party for a grandaughter, puttin the boat up with my son, spendin’ time with my two incredible daughters who are part of Obama’s army of the daylight and sittin in front of the HiDef watchin DVD’s that Mrs. Norske and I have promised each other we’d see before we croak.
I’d like to get specific.
Top, perhaps in the top 3 domestic priorities – fix New Orleans immediately.
…and of course I gotta cut the roses back and mulsh ‘em…poor things started bloomin again a couple a weeks ago…I think I’m gunna use “rose cones” this year.
sounds like a mighty fine weekend norske.
Gotta disagree, Suze. This is my favorite road song.
what are rose cones norske?
Citizen Suzanne:
We ain’t there yet dear heart…but we’re closin in.
not at the estrogen palace dood – my girls and i started every road trip with the morrison hotel cassette, then the cd and would play that entire side of the album.
tis a fine way to start road trips.
“What are roase cones, norske?”
They’re styrofoam cone-covers for mulched roses to keep ‘em from freezin out…gotta be careful with ‘em ‘cuz ya ken get mold if ya don’t let the plants dry out well first
That link was one of my specific priorities, and it will take quite a bit of his attention in the early days. Fixing what he can of NOLA should be another. And getting us the heck out of Iraq the third.
Unfortunately, I think reversing the trend on human rights has to be the first priority, or we won’t even be able to argue about the rest much longer. I’ve never been so fearful that we’ll become a dictatorship with only the trappings of democracy as I am right now.
And, as I wrote, I think it’s something that Obama will probably ignore if we let him.
Well, you know for me, Lee Roy trumps just about everyone. He’s a good friend, too.
I strongly suspect that my Condo’s electrical wiring was not done by Union contractors but in a deregulated housing market in a bubble time is money and short term expense is disregarded.
However if my Condo board has its way the Contractor will pay to fix it and pay for every false fire alarm the Fire Dept has had to respond to.
Its like smoking the costs get passed off to the future but with time the costs grow.
Then like an addict the Contractors blame the Lawyers we consumers have to use to get them to pay for stuff that should have been fixed in the first place.
;)
oh – so ya do that instead of burying em for the winter?
I mean domestic. Internationally the list is so long and arduous that he can pick.
But here at home, all these years later – that city still suffers grievously, and is very near to being a criminal enterprise.
Devote the next year of the ACoE to building the best levees on the planet. We know how to do it, and if we don’t know, we know who does.
Nite Margot
all year long!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h7vyBpspBJQ
No, I mulch ‘em (bury ‘em) AND cone ‘em ‘cuz out here on the semi frozen tundra the winters get awfully cold and I haven’t had a lotta luck bringin my roses back in the Spring…though I think we get a lotta southern hybrids up here that jest can’t handle the cold.
my landlord has all kinda roses around here – there are still a few blooms but there are some massive rosehips on the larger bushes. i can’t wait to see and smell this garden come spring.
Respect for human rights needs to be restored both in our international dealings and here at home.
As for purely domestic issues, besides the economy I don’t think Obama will be able to get much done. If we’re very lucky, we won’t be in a full blown depression this time next year.
That’s the sad part of this. This will be another Democratic administration whose primary job will be cleaning up the mess of the previous one.
An old acquaintance who loved roses once told me that if you live in the north, it’s best to get European roses. They tend to be hardier than the domestic breeds. Don’t know if it’s true, but it makes sense. Out where I live, though, just about anything that isn’t a tropical plant can survive.
norske, the rose on the bay side stairs to the deck is still showing color but tonight’s wind just may be whipping the last of the petals off.
Well, it’s time for me to pumpkinize, too. Have fun, everybody.
If a government has a covenant with those it fucked over (actually it has a covenant with those yet to be fucked over, but that’s another discussion), they it doesn’t allow them to live in dangerous trailers, subject them to terrifying legal peril with a private army on patrol, and gentrify the home of anyone.
The ultimate jobs program: New Orleans.
Have you ever checked David Austin for roses? English company that also has sourcing in US. When I talked with them on the phone for suggestions for varieties especially suited for my location, they were very helpful. Let me know if you want the contact info.
Maybe Suz can go to the Powells next to the Rose Garden in Portand between the books store and the Rose garden they should have some good advice then maybe you can order the good roses online and hope for more global warming.
The last ten years my old Lake in Northern Illinois has not froze over by Christmas but it used every year I was in Highschool when I played Lake Hockey with the kids from the other side of the Lake.
