Morning BT.

I’ve dubbed the next year or so, and the R civil wars that will take place, a schadenfreudefest for Ds. Another commenter (sorry I’ve forgotten who) wanted to know if you served the same kind of food & drink as for Octoberfest. Sounds good to me. Marion might have to change her breakfast menu somewhat. Is there an analogue to bloody marys and mimosas that involved beer?

I sure hope McClatchy is right:

Corporate America enjoyed favorable treatment under the Bush administration for almost eight years and for most of the era of Republican control of Congress from 1995 to 2007.

Now unions may gain a stronger hand, and business is bracing for greater financial regulation, worker-friendly policies and an emphasis on social spending.

I liked the part about how peevish & pouty she because when they muzzled her or corrected her. And I think back about what TheraP said about her personality disorder, among which is needing constant attention & adulation. I don’t think she’ll fade into obscurity willingly. I think she’ll keep making a spectacle of herself as long as anyone will listen, and that will be a long time into the future. She’s no Dan Quayle.

Although Ted Stevens holds a small lead in Alaska and is the favorite to retain his seat, the outcome is not as inevitable as it might appear to be. Stevens currently holds a lead of 3,353 votes, or about 1.5 percent of the votes tallied so far. But, there are quite a large number of ballots yet to count. According to Roll Call, these include “at least 40,000 absentee ballot, 9,000 early voting ballots, and an undetermined number of questionable ballots”.

now that the election is over, i’m actually much more concerned about what pelosi is going to be doing next than i am about palin.

Dems lower expectations

Democratic leaders are tamping down on expectations for rapid change and trying to signal they will place a calm hand on the nation’s tiller.

“The country must be governed from the middle,” House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) said Wednesday. Repeating themes from election night, she said she plans to emphasize “civility” and “fiscal responsibility.”

W was shielded from a lot and didn’t care anyway. He called himself the decider. GalPal is going to cash out if she can she doesn’t give a hoot about people… other than herself.

(”The Obama people have to be very happy with those numbers.”) Everything went off without a hitch at the polls here. A great night. I didn’t think Obama’s GOTV had been good enough because the numbers from my precicnt weren’t that great. Turns out there were almost as many EV’s and absentees as people who voted Tuesday. I guess the GOTV was good, huh? And Obama carried the precinct!

It’s something the husband says we need. Anyway, it was supposed to be done yesterday while I was at work. Instead, we have some power here, none there. Went searching for an outlet that worked for hair blower this a.m. Alas, none near a mirror. Tried to start the packed dishwasher, to no avail. You get the picture.

Yes, Alachua County went 60% for Obama, so I’m assuming the students came out but I haven’t seen the numbers yet. I heard that UCF students came out in force; there were stories of the line at the UCF arena.

My Congressional candidate won the county (but by a narrow margin, no Obama coattails, dangit) but lost the district by a lot. He’s going to run again, so we get two years instead of a few months to work on the campaign this time.

Except for Hillsborough County. Buddy Johnson has once again shown he’s not up for the task. Roughly 40,000 votes not yet counted. Phyllis Busansky, in her 70s, ran against him and so far is about 3000 votes behind.

Pinellas County Commission now all Rethug. There are more registered Dems than Rethugs but the Dems just can’t get anybody elected to anything higher than the school board, where we put 2 Dems this time around. All the big money comes from Sembler and friends so the Dems are at a disadvantage out of the gate. Gotta figure out a way to finance Dem candidates here.

Just saw Rahm’s “presser” from last night.

Shorter Rahm:

“If I do this, I’ll be neutered. I’ll never get my chance to overthrow Nancy and get more Blue Dogs in the House.”

Didn’t hit the Lotto last night so I’m off to swim in the great capitalist, soon to be socialist, cesspool.

Be good to yourselves, and all other living things.

Is it too soon to for the Democratic public to start asking for their ‘health care’ and ‘infrastructure jobs’ and to ‘end the wars’?..no?

The job for us changes only slightly.

Now that we don’t have to waste time recoiling from the ‘horror o’ the day’ from the White House, we can instead spend time constructively pushing our agenda forward.

It should be made clear to Nancy & Co. that 2 years from now “Republicans wouldn’t let us” will not be an acceptable answer to the above issues.

Regarding Palin’s personality disorder: am in total agreement. She reminds me of a middle-aged version of Britney Spears, someone who must seek attention even in negative ways if necessary, but dumb as a box of bricks. Typical for a greedy woman who uses beauty instead of brains to get what she wants. Now we are finding out (via Faux News! Unreal!) how truly clueless Palin was, not knowing the countries in North America and thinking Africa was a country. She can’t return with her brood to Alaskan obscurity soon enough.
