Oh the fun of the McCain campaign's final throes, if you will (and yes, we willed), is something to behold. Not only did Wasilla's first family of grifters strike the lower-forty-eights finest fashion stores. Not only did a Vice-Presidential nominee think the capital of the "country" of Africa was Africa City. No the alleged finest minds of Camp McCain loved to display their small wares:
[C]ampaign manager Rick Davis fired Randy Scheunemann after determining that he had been in direct contact with journalists spreading "disinformation" about campaign aides, including Nicolle Wallace and other officials.
"He was positioning himself with Palin at the expense of John McCain's campaign message," said one of the aides.
And who was he displaying too?
the advisers said they strongly believed that Mr. Scheunemann was disclosing, as one put it, "a constant stream of poison" to William Kristol, the editor of the conservative Weekly Standard and a columnist for The New York Times.

1,817 DAYZ AND THE KILLIN’ GOEZ ON AND ON AND…
Citizen Attaturk and the Firepup Freedom Fighters:
I’d like ta throw in a caution about gettin’ too wrapped up in the comedy of the fascists eatin each others children ‘cuz when then GOP goez under (and it will) what’s gunna be left is a lean and mean cadre of fascist street workers and a couple a radical state parties like the Alaska AIP and the Utah Republican Church to hook up with Ron Paul’s pseudo libertarian fascist party. This is what’s gunna fill the vacuum created by the disintegration of the GOP and it will be well funded and well organized with experienced boots on the ground who have no fear ofanything.
So, Kristol feeds off “a constant stream of poison.” Who knew?
Swines
Here is a giggle From England
Citizen Raven:
Yo Brother Raven, are ya still ridin’ the wave from last night? How are folks in Athens takin’ this “new world” bullshit…and is there a palpable change in the good ol’ boys in other parts a the state? Are things changin’ in Georgia like is happenin’ in North Carloina and Virginia…I know we gotta wait for the inevitable demographic and economic changes but are they happenin yet?
Gotta get up off our asses and beat this pig Chambliss. Martin seems like a good dude, Nam vet and all. Runoff in early December.
Yup! :-(((
Good morning, pups. It’s MoDo, Collins, Cohen and Kristof today. MoDo says “Bring on the Puppy and the Rookie,” and that some people said that a President Obama would make the White House the Black House. The opposite is true: Barack Obama has the chance to make the White House pristine again. Ms. Collins is “Thinking of Good Vibrations.” She says today, you can bask in the realization that there are billions of people around the planet who loathed our country last week but are now in awe of its capacity to rise above historic fears. Mr. Cohen writes about “Perfecting the Union,” and says that Barack Obama’s idea, put simply, was that America can be better than it has been. It can embody once more what the world still craves from the American idea: hope. Mr. Kristof considers “The Obama Dividend,” and says that Barack Obama’s election may be a political milestone, ending an era in which Republicans succeeded at winning votes from the working poor to cut taxes for billionaires.

The coffee and tea are ready, and the biscuits are out of the oven. This morning the Nice Polite Republicans had an extended piece on by Mara Liasson full of gloom and doom about how Obama wasn’t going to be able to achieve anything substantial, had to repudiate the liberals, had to make sure to be nice to all the Republicans, yadda, yadda, yadda… So much for a honeymoon. She’s divorced him before the honeymoon even started.
Today I go back to work after my celebratory day off yesterday and start goading people into making sure that they vote in the run off on December 2 so we can get Saxby “golfer extraordinaire” Chambliss out of the Senate. Have a good day.
Citizen Raven:
Is a runoff a done deal? Is there a chance ta beat this douchbag…Martin seems ta be too good ta be true, a real straight shooter with some chops. It’d be nice ta have one more ‘Nam vet serve in the congress for the “good guys” before we go extinct.
Now the election is settled, the price of oil will increase as will the volatility of the markets, neither in beneficial directions. Money is speaking.

In addition to the good news that it sounds like NC really *is* going presidential blue (if they finish the certification in this century), I got my own personal reward yesterday. Yard signs here in SE NC were scarce as the proverbial hen’s teeth and evaporated from the satelite offices as soon as they came in. The closest voting location is one block away and you know how candidates always cluster gobs of signs around them. Well, yesterday on the way to the grocery store, there was an Obama sign still in place. They’re supposed to be removed right after elections so I designated myself as Remover-In-Chief.
One Obama sign now proudly lives in my house! *G*
They are both saying it’s a done deal but the state website still says the count is at 96%. I think there would be a good chance for Martin in a runoff.
You’re seeing full frontal Neocon behavior exhibit right there for all to see. The worst example of a club mentality where members of a little society are more beholden to their clique than they even are to the larger group.
Let them all fight it out and disintegrate totally into a thousand useless shards. Irrelevance is the reward for their stupidity.
One of the frustrating things is listening to the media reaction to in-fighting revelations and other assorted stupidities……..snicker, snicker, snort, snort. Never occurs to them to make the observation - “WTF? *These* people wanted to run the country?!?”
Martin needs to run some ads reminding the Georgia voters how Saxby called Cleland unpatriotic, a man who lost both legs and an arm in the Vietnam war. Saxby got deferments for so called bad knees that kept him from serving in the military but they were good enough to play college football. Coward Repub like Cheney and all the rest.
and those are his good points, he’s a shit eatin dog fucker of the lowest denomination.
I am waiting to see the actions of the new congress and the new adminstrations.
There is much to undo and I sure hope they announce the agenda to undo the Bush / repuke atrocities of the past decades going back the the Regan ripping of PATCO.
Wall Street self destructed, but we still have huge corporations running the show. They gotta be “downsized” in their influence. That is the essence of what needs to happen.
Oh yeah… and a restoration of the constitution is a nifty idea too.
I am looking to a runn off down in GA and the Obi ground game moving down there and crushing Saxby.
Morning all,
Still trying to come to grips with a couple of things here. First the campaigns here are really really over and we won. Secondly it is no longer daylight savings time and it sure gets dark early.
Don’t hold back, now, Raven — tell us how you really feel! (I agree with you 115%, by the way.)
Raven, Norske, and any other Lake vets -
Have you guys seen this article about errors with radiation treatment at some of the VA facilities? Found it over at Pro Publica.
http://www.govexec.com/dailyfed/1108/110308kp2.htm
It gets dark about the same part of the day as before, it is the clocks (and the head) that are messed with. ;-)
Soyulent green Vet burgers. ;-(
ersatz edit:
SoyulentSoylent …. burgers? ;-(Well both the dog and my heads have not yet become accustomed with the messing.
Morning everyone. I feel like a great weight has been lifted from my shoulders. We’re still in a heap of trouble but now, at least, I won’t be expecting a new outrage daily. No more foxes guarding the hen house. No more plummeting in World opinion.
And there’s this. Via DKos:
I feel good.
Sure was good news about Merkley winning in Oregon.
It would appear to me that changing the opening (working) hours between summer and winter would work just as well without messing with the clock itself. But that is just me being lazy. ;-)
Citizen Waccamaw:
There are always stories like this comin’ out when there is extra pressure on the system and, of course in the last eight years after the fascists tried ta privitize the entire stateside military medical system (see the Walter Reed outpatient Clinical services run by a company owned by Dan Quail) they whacked off 50% of VA medical fundin’. I have mixed emotions because the veteran’s hospitals have been doin so much for so many with so little for so long that they ken almost do anythin’ with nuthin…and my Grampa Ole and my Dad both got great care there. So every single social service in this country is runnin outta money and of course with the kids comin back from Iraq it’s jest double trouble.
Citizen Raven:
You are wrong about the “dog fucker”…dogs won’t have anything ta do with the bastard!
I taught a morning class in 73 or 74 when they experimented with not turning back the clock. It was still dark when we let out. Toyed with the idea of having streakers come through to wake up the students.
I’m watching FoxNews. They look sick. Long faces sans smirks, like they’ve been punched in the stomach. Just like we’ve felt for 8 long years. Oh, happy days.
*streetch & yaaawwwn* Morning pups.
.
Topic today for Washington Journal is “The Transition”
7:30am – Norman Ornstein, American Enterprise Institute, Resident Scholar &
Scott Lilly, Center for American Progress, Senior Fellow
8:15am – Jim Warren, Chicago Tribune, Former Managing Editor
9:00am- Catharine Richert, Congressional Quarterly, Reporter
this story was even more fun then that;
supposedly one of the donors said he would pay for a three suit wardrobe and then went balistic when the bill came in from the most expensive shops in the country of 150 grand
well, that didn’t stop this grifter
she then asked the staffers to give her their campaign credit cards so she could buy more and nobody would know it was her
I have the links over at my diary
I wonder if barack had any “uh oh” moments when he was briefed by the cia and fbi in the first daily briefing
Morning everyone ,
And a great morning it is, cold ,damp and raining, and I don’t care!
Still on a high from the other night( not from the recently de-criminalized marijuana here in Ma)
I hope our new government can get the job done,we all put in alot of time and effort getting these people elected, just don’t let us down!!!
They will find no sympathy here!!
I’m loving all the Sarah Palin stories. But, I have to remember that these stories are coming from republicans who don’t have any problem lying. It reiminds me of the ridiculous stories about the Clintons stealing White House propeerty. And that all the ‘w’s’ were removed. Lies.
The Sarah stories might be lies, too. But I’m glad to see the target this year is a fellow republican.
I don’t think the R’s had any idea of what a dolt Sarah was. They assumed there had to be some there there as she had managed to become a governor. Shame on Alaska for being fooled by such a fool.
Perhaps there is a red neck population up there which is as dumb as she is and likes one of their own as gov?
She made a complete fool of herself and of running mate and party. Her 15 minutes of fame got Obi elected. Smart move Mr. Maverick.
Looks like the Republican 1000 year Reich didn’t quite make it, just like in the original.
ding!
The “Mayor” is going back to Wassila.
On the other hand,
The “Community Organizer” is going to the White House, where he will have nearly as many responisibilities as the Mayor od Wassila.
I lovvve the line at the end of the CNN article HuffPo refers to:
I doubt it.
One of the things I *hope* for is an end to the ’scary terrorist’ meme.
China? Pakistan? scary. Iran? Not so much.
First thing I expect is that we get some arabic and farsi speaking intel ops so that we can assess those regions.
Then we start focussing on the internal snake handler type terrorists from a law enforcement direction.
Then we focus on the larger threats like China and unsecured Russian nukes.
I just love it when they eat their own. The schadenfreudefest has begun.
Another baby on the way?
how about the article that tells us she greeted them with nothing but towel
Vice presidential stuff here
lol!
todd must be thrilled
you can see no other countries from the door of the whitehouse and there will be no foreign craft flying close by
I have no idea how he is going to learn ANYTHING about foreign affairs
A Governor’s international knowledge requirements are very slight, regardless of what they can see from their home.
After McCain’s concession I could *almost* believe the choice was deliberately suicidal. The reality I fear was that it was pure incompetence from the type of people who have worn incompetence and stupidity as a badge of authenticity for the past 8 years.
Subject on WJ is the transition. Here’s the email Q I sent in. Betcha it doesn’t get on air.
oops sorry solai, that wasn’t a reply to what you said.
To you:
you make a good point, but for now I’m going to enjoy the mess the McCain campaign made picking but not vetting their VP candidate.
Hopefully they can still get newspapers.
Maybe after measuring the drapes, Rahm can order high speed internet access as well.
so I point out in my diary that palin was refused permission to speak at the concession rally
I am looking now at some footage and it looks to me like she is going to charge on the stage the very first moment someone mentions her name and looks over or if the crowd begins to chant
it looks to me like she’s going out there whether they like it or not, just open the door a fraction and she is there
Too low ethical standards for Rick Davis - who knew it was possible?
thanks for the heads up eCAHN
good question
You will be lucky to get p 16A with that question
I always thought that someone in the McC camp was trying to sabotage his campaign. It was run that badly.
I happen to have mixed feelings about his pick even though I love to hate palin;
his campaign was absolutely worthless up till the day he picked her
they had no volunteers what so ever, they had no contributers at all
the moment she became the pick their party got energized, volunteered, donated
yes she hurt the ticket
but the hurt she gave also gave them a fighting chance
I kind of doubt anyone else mccain picked would have gotten the volunteers and donations palin got for him
so I really don’t know if she helped or hurt the ticket, I do know gives us great material for time untold
I think the pressure was posed when bush had some kind of illusion that he still had control or that the people would climb on board just as they did against Iraq
I cannot believe even the president believes he can get away with the attack now that there is a president elect
I disagree with you on this perris, picking Palin was a huge mistake, it did not help his candidacy,
The question should be where the buck stops.
Have you all seen the report that John Kerry wants Secy of State? I still can’t look at him w/o remembering him going duck hunting. Pandering to the right, dressed in hunter’s garb, looking like a complete jackass. I haven’t liked him since.
I don’t think about it as sabotage, but rather a logical extension of YOYO (you’re on your own) style that Rs have been pushing for the past 8 years. Everyone on the staff did whatever it took for them to get to the top of the heap. And since McCain was not authoritarian enough to keep them in their places, chaos resulted.
ALL the bucks are stopping in the overseas bank accounts BushCo set up across the globe.
BT’s up with a Special Schadenfreude Edition
Early swim is up top
I agree that there probably won’t be an attack. My Q was to provoke listeners to remember how unilateralist & out of touch with reality W has been.
Little OT but this needs to be mentioned,
A black church in Springfield Mass was burned a few hours after the vote was announced.
No idea what the cause was ,hoping it was accidental but you know some people suck!!
here’s a link:
http://www.boston.com/news/loc.....eld_burns/
They seldom seem to use e-mail questions; makes ya wonder if they don’t prefer having audience being able to hear the nuts and non-nuts in person (a la talk radio) :-(( Lots of the people calling in may very well not have net access so it’s fair to them but, still and all the same, WJ would get in lots more questions if the moderator read them (no one gets to rant on seemingly forever).
ymmv
I have already divorced Maia. No money for my local NPR stations this year until a noticeable change in their White House coverage.
All, done with good conscious as all disposable income went to the O-B campaign.
Here’s the justification:
Does public radio deserve my support? Yes. Are they suffering from abused wife syndrome after 8 years of Repub. bosses beating up on them? Yes. Has supporting them notwithstanding for 8 years made a difference? No. Will showing them in an election year that they do not have a hold on the public good worthy of my modest contribution, as I tell each volunteer whenever they call.
Wait and see. I’m hoping that it’s
you betcha.
I’m guessing Obama will have to start reading everything they put in front of him. It seems to work for the Mayor of Wassila.
Maybe now someone will listen to Sibel Edmonds.
