I am one of those reformed (registered) republicans. Felt good to circle Obama’s name last night.

I have been reading this site as well as other blogs for 5 years now and it was a relief to hear Olbermann say “NBC has called it for Obama” at 11:01 pm. Many fist pumps followed by tears and some good wine.

Yeah, funny, ain’t it? Up until yesterday, we were supposed to believe the rest of the world could go screw. And that their approval was simply testimony to Obama’s deficiencies.

Today we’re getting to tell the Republicans to go screw. And I know I’m supposed to be above all that, but damn, it feels great!

I love that the rest of the world is sharing our joy today. I just love it.

I feel that it’s pretty clear that Obama is going to be in charge and not anyone else. It’s obvious that he feels the responsibility and expects to take the heat for decisions that people don’t like. COS needs to be a planner, an organizer and he will work at the pleasure of the prez. If not, he’s out.

I can see the brilliance of breaking the Rahm/Steny chokehold on Congress. And if Congress dumps Steny, as they should, that’s all good news for our Congress.

And Emanuels apparent hesitation may just prove where his loyalties really lie.
But I’m talking about what’s good for Obamas agenda- making it happen just as decisively as his campaign. If Emanuel could destroy the House with his alliances -why not the ultimate effectiveness of an Obama Administration.
It’s a real concern. Obama has run a tight ship so far and succeeded. So why take the risk and bring in a big hungry rat now??

i never said anything about anyone else not looking at history - i only said that was what i was trying to do.

there’s not much we can know for sure about the future, but we have a lot of past data to got on and i’m trying to remember and connect the dots. just like i always try to do - regardless if the politicians involved are Ds or Rs.

But you do — you want concrete answers on something we can’t know for sure at this point. We have past history and actions which tell part of the story, but not what may be with sufficient public pressure brought to bear. Which was the point of the post above. Is anyone saying not to look at history — did I miss that somewhere?
