Oh Yeah! I have laughed and snarfeled, and then laughed some more with tears running down my face. I am going to turn in soon but I am still too verjoyed to sleep.
BTW We have Hank Williams, Sr.!
wow… I just went over to TownHall (so you don’t have to) to check out the carnage…
did you know Hitler was a communist? or that Barack is the new hitler?
seriously crazy. hate speech in full flower.
1,816 DAYZ AND THE KILLIB’ GOEZ ON AND ON AND…
Citizen Attaturk and the Firepup Freedom Fighters:
Thanx Citizen Attaturk for bein’ here for us “incurables” through the darkest nights of the last year er so…this victory is incomplete, but that’s the way it should be. There’s plenty of room for new ideas and some old ones to target on the problems we bring from the past.
Keep the fires burnin and the red flags flyin’…and let’s not forget those who aren’t here with us ‘cuz they gave the full measure that we may savor this night and new dawn.
KEEP THE FAITH AND PASS THE AMMUNITION, WE HAVE CAUGHT UP WITH OUR HISTORY!!
So glad you made it back safely. *g*
Citizen alphie:
The hate speech is gunna brew and simmer and even spill over for awhile but it’s all they got left….that doesn’t make ‘em any less dangerous but they are on the way to the museum of the obsolete and extinct.
Good Morning, What’s up with North Carolina? I new that McCain would win Georgia but I was at least hoping for a contest.
UhOh, I meant to say knew, not new
palin needed barbarah to give her wardrobe advice
G’morning Norske,
Been thinking about a certain New England family since I woke up yesterday. Glad the Lion held on to see the election of Obama.
Watched Joe scar last night say that Obama is a free agent because his money didn’t come from k-street or wall street. He is a moron. Totally missing the FACT that Obama’s money came from us. We The People. He is beholden to US. He was elected by US. It is now up to us to keep him on track. Hold him to our agenda. Affordable education. Decent jobs not war. Health care when needed not health insurance. Energy policy that does not enrich big oil to the detriment of renewable sources. Tax policy that sustains the country without destroying the middle class. Ya know, shit that actually makes sense. And maybe, just maybe with a couple generations of concerted effort and education an end to ignorance, intolerance, racism and hatred. (Yeah, I know, but a brother can dream.)

Looks like they are not rolling out the welcome back red carpet to Caribou Barbie!

Last I heard it’s still up in the air……..have you more recent news? I want it so much because it would be like driving one last nail in the coffin. That being said, even if Obama doesn’t carry the state, we came *so* close. We took dole’s seat, Kissell won like a bandit and there’s gonna be a Dem female at the helm in Raleigh. I’ll take them thar wins and smile. :-)
Didn’t cry last night until Biden and his family came onstage; watching the blond haired family blend with the black haired family just caused me to lose it. Watching the faces in the crowds across the country………there wasn’t any color, just joy.
18’s for you, darlin’.
Good morning, everyone!
{{{Waccamaw}}} Congratulations on NC!
A big special thanks to the techs. Boy, did this place run smoothly last night!
yo baby yo
Proposition 8 – Eliminates Right of Same-Sex Couples to Marry
88.3% ( 22,458 of 25,423 ) precincts partially
or fully reporting as of Nov. 5, 2008, at 3:28 a.m.
I am too tired to see what precincts are still out but it doesn’t look good.
(Oh well, it least it will cut down on all those proposals I have been getting!) Girls, just because we can doesn’t mean we have to!
Good morning, pups. Ms. Dowd is off today, so Mr. Friedman is alone this morning. In “Finishing Our Work” he has a rallying cry: Let every child and every citizen and every new immigrant know that from this day forward: Everything really is possible in America.

The coffee, tea and hot chocolate are ready. If you don’t have to head off to work help yourself to a mimosa or a Bloody Mary. Grab a plate and take your favorite breakfast/brunch food. We’ve got eggs Benedict or Florentine, French toast, pancakes, waffles, bacon, ham, grits, your favorite muffins, French toast casserole, French toast waffles, bagels with cream cheese, biscuits, toast, and all the condiments, including warm Vermont maple syrup, spiced peach syrup, honey butter, eCAHNomics’ homemade jams, and anything else you can think of.
I’m still pinching myself. It’s like waking up from a nightmare. The Psalmist said it for me: “Weeping may tarry for a night, but joy cometh in the morning.” Thank you, America. Have a great day.
Good morning??? I am heading of top bed, I am hoping to wake up to a Prop 8 miracle.
A brand new day…
I am thrilled Indiana came through with the vote. There’s hope. There’s hope.
It’s a whole new day
Here’s what’s on Washington Journal, excuse my while I refill my plate at Marion’s

9:10am – Pat Crowley, Kentucky Enquirer
9:40am – Kevin Dale, Denver Post
9:50am – Jon Ralston, Political Columnist & Talk Show Host
I’m off to pick up the NYTimes. Thank you Marion, the bloody Mary does sound tempting.
I have never been prouder of the U.S.A. as I am this morning. The Republicons have a choice, join in moving the country forward or be left in the dust of history.
The punditocracy is being swept out to sea by the tides of history. Their comments last night seemed so shallow and never seemed to rise to the momentous occasion. They were trying to play catch up having the uneasy feeling that the people have moved beyond their narrow world view.
Troll heads were and are still exploding like popcorn on a hot stove.
One of the things I’m looking forward to, oddly, is being in my small Episcopal church and hearing, during the Prayers of the People, the lay reader asking us to pray for “Barack, our President.” Oh, and I want to see the Obamas’ new puppy too. Any bets on what kind of puppy it will be?
I guess that by now, Todd is putting back on his snow machine jacket, and Sarah is looking for a “real american charity “.
Bye bye Holy Joe!!!!!
We didn’t get 60 in the Senate so we don’t need Joe!!!!
Now dump that fucker pronto!!!!
amen!
Just saw more results in Michigan were Mark Shauer defeated Republicon trogladyte Tim Walhberg and Democrat Gary Peters defeated Knollenberg, another Bush flunky. Happy days indeed!!!
I just put on my Hazmat suit and peeked in the door at the National Review. Oh, my…
However, if you’re in the mood for a laugh you can consider the totally brilliant idea that Kathryn Jean Lopez came up with: “Perhaps John Bolton can be the Republican Obama promised in his Cabinet.” OOOOOH — that would be teh awesum!!!111!!!
Don’t expect a link to that place from me.
all year long!
Heard it’s going to be a pit bull and they are going to name it Sarah.
any news on ca prop 8?
The good citizens of Michigan will now allow the use of discarded embryos from fertility clinics to be used for reasearch in curing disease and easing suffering. The Catholic church and the right wing fundies repudiated.

Does anyone have any information on turnout percentages, or is it too early for those numbers?
I really resented McCain’s concession speech. He said all the right things — til he got the part about Palin. But considering how he ran his campaign, his word’s last night were meaningless. He doesn’t deserve any praise for what he said in Phoenix without taking into account the hate-filled words he spewed during the campaign.
Paraphrasing R callers on WJ: OMG scarey black person is prez. We is doomed.
Oh, Pfiff!
It’s so wonderful to see you!!! Where. have. you. been, girl? Hope all is well; don’t be gone so long from the Lake. Heading to the corner to buy papers….back in a few.
the ap said it was the highest turnout in maybe a century
Yep, agreed completely with you. This is a guy whose words, “I’m John McCain and I approved this message” were on every hate-filled ad, remark, and message that his campaign promulgated and encouraged other people to mouth. He just did not want to sound petty … for once.
last night every other call claimed that Obama wasn’t a citizen. My eyes finally got stuck in the back of my head.
Wow, I stayed up to watch Obama’s speech but went to bed not knowing one burning question. This morning I woke up to discover that Barack Obama actually won Indiana!
I do believe in miracles. I haven’t verified yet, but I’m afraid we’re still stuck with Bush toadie, Mitch Daniels, as governor for the next 4 though. But all-in-all it’s a very bright new day in America.
Amazing.
What was the D gain in the house?
Best news would be to hear the IRS has sent out tax billings to a bunch of churches. The price of violating their privileged status by messing in political process. They messed up big time, now end the privilege.

Thanks.
Thanks! According to Nate at 538 there’s something screwy going on down here:
I know turnout was huge, and if the final numbers don’t reflect that it means that there’s fuckery going on.
I went to the corner to see what was going on
for the most part they are being very supportive if you can believe it
I would not have shown the restraint they’re showing if mccain had won
here’s a quote from one of the posters quoting one of his daily reads;
Not to mention running those foul Wright ads six/hour the last few days of the campaign. Nothing mcpalin can do will ever rebuild the veil of decency he may once have had.
we overcame fuckery didn’t we marion!
nate hit the nail on the head, he predicted 348 electoramas, barack got 348
that’s a little scary to be that accurate, he had to take into consideration so many things to come up with his voting model but there it is
What a wonderful morning, Dawgs!
We.did.it!
Thank you, Attaturk, for making my mornings bearable this past year or so.
Thank you FireDawgs, for inspiring me to believe that we could take our country back.
Now the hard work begins.
(Oh, and I don’t mean to be disrespectful but I have to ask….What was up with Michelle Obama’s dress last night?!?)
ow, i’m either still drunk or have a hang over.
RRRAAAWWWW!!!! good morning!
wow Kenya declared today a national holiday
HuffPo
there is one thing mccain might do that might be good for us
he has been and always will be an oportunist
I believe his affection for bush was feigned, I believe he took bush for the ride so he could get his support but I believe he holds some contempt
and oportunist like mccain might go rogue and that would be a joy to see
Help yourself to a Bloody Mary or a mimosa if you need a bit of the hair of the dog.
I went looking for results on Darcy Burner and Al Franken. Both are behind but it doesn’t look like they were called. Anyone know anything?
Waccamaw, I’m never gone, just not always able to keep up with the threads and comments. Being 6 hours ahead of you, when I wake up in the morning, there must be a dozen threads to catch up on, things move so fast here now. And by the time I’ve looked at those, another dozen have been posted!
I’m going to head out and enjoy the gorgeous, sunny day we’re having here. I’ll try to catch up with you later in another thread.
Make no mistake, the Republicons will slink off to lick their self inflicted wounds. They will regroup and be back to thwart the will of the people. Some of that can already be seen on other blogs were the venom and vile continue unabated. The struggle continues so roll up your sleeves. It’s time to put the final stake into the lifeless corpse of the Republicon party’s failed ideology. May they never rise from the dead to once again feed on the life blood of the American public.
Morning pups. Like a lot of you, I’m still wiping the tears of joy from my cheeks. I can’t believe it actually happened. It’s 49 years since I participated in my first Civil Rights sit-in as a kid of 19. I was a lot like all the kids of 19 we saw last night who left it all on the road. None of us knew how things were going to turn out, and neither do they. Things have been so black at times these past eight years, it’s tempting to give up hope.
Hope’s back. Have a great day, all of you.
Don’t know about those 2 races but I do know in Michigan Mark Shauer defeated a true reactionary in Tim Wahlberg and Gary Peters defeated Knollenberg, another Bush flunky. Both House seats.
Delighted that it’s only the time difference; can emphasize completely with not being able to keep up with threads anymore….and I’m in the same time zone. *g*
Lots of sunshine over this way too, darlin’……if not in the sky, in our hearts.
I guess the Merkley/Coleman race is a nail bitter in Oregon.
One thing I REALLY enjoyed last night were the scenes of the celebration in front of the White House. I love that Bush had to listen to all those cheering voices for hours. *s*
Yeah, been worrying about Darcy also.
Some votes still to be counted (99% in) and Coleman now leads Franken in Minnesota by only 762 votes.
http://www.cnn.com/ELECTION/20…..al/#mapSMN
thank you Marion. you are a peach :)
isn’t that why there is bunker under the white house? :>
FoxNews just reported that Coleman beat Franken. The margin is so small, I wonder if there will be a recount.
Must have been a three Xanax evening, with a few silver bullets thrown in there.
and i didn’t even break out my crosses and garlic!
Oh man, Joe Scar’s so ticked off he can’t hide it. Can’t wait to see Buchanon.
Once you’re feeling a bit stronger there’s a HUGE breakfast/brunch spread at #23.
Whisker’s difference in Minn. Senate race
Associated Press – November 5, 2008 7:34 AM ET
MINNEAPOLIS (AP) – The finish line isn’t in sight yet for Minnesota’s long Senate campaign.
Republican incumbent Norm Coleman and Democrat Al Franken appear to be headed for an automatic recount. The vote count is nearly complete, and Coleman holds a tiny 900-vote edge of nearly 2.9 million votes cast.
That’s well within the threshold to trigger an automatic recount.

Mean Jean won. Spit.
So did Bachman.
:o thanks! I’ll have a little toast and jam. *passes around tray of oranges cut like flowers*
Damn.
dam, i first read that as ‘won spit’ instead of ‘won. spit.’ :(
Bachman and Mean Jean winning tempers an otherwise stunning repudiation of the Republicon party.
Agreed, Marion! Puppy? Well, I know a great place to get some real cuties, just up I-94 from Chicago…
Minn media reporting Coleman win but so close a recount likely. Bachman returns. [reminder, her district sent a convicted sex offender back to the Minn lege rather than vote for a Dem…we are talkin’ deep ideologue slough in the Minn 6th.]

OMG. Got to go hang my U.S. flag back out. Painted the porch where flag holder was attached & it disappeared in the process, so have to go to the store & buy another one. Stopped flying the U.S. flag with the invasion of Iraq.
:)
Turnout breaks record: 130 million.
