One voice can change a room; and if a voice can change a room, it can change a city; and if it can change a city, it can change a state; and if it can change a state, it can change a nation; and if it can change a nation, it can change the world!

Thanks Elliott, and thanks itwasntme.
Here’s the last lines from the linked Langston Hughes poem:
O, yes,
I say it plain,
America never was America to me,
And yet I swear this oath–
America will be!
Out of the rack and ruin of our gangster death,
The rape and rot of graft, and stealth, and lies,
We, the people, must redeem
The land, the mines, the plants, the rivers.
The mountains and the endless plain–
All, all the stretch of these great green states–
And make America again!
(Amen, I say.)
okay
heres a good one

This man moves and inspires me. After 8 years of stifling darkness I can finally see light and feel hope.
Barack Obama is a man of many gifts and he is willing to share them with his fellow citizens to motivate us to move forward to a better life for all. That is leadership. That is what I am looking for.
May sanity prevail today.
Fool me once…..shame on….shame on you…fool me, can’t get fooled again. Aw, hell.

Fired up. Keep the flame.
I am just so happy! After the Democratic primary, I could just FEEL folks planning on voting for Obama. Then came the Republican primary and that feeling I get when my sport team is going to lose (in advance of the game mind you) came on and it was depressing. Then everything turned again. I think a lot of people made up their minds in the last few days, because each day my feeling of joy about the result has grown stronger. It has nothing to do with the polls, because I KNEW that Bush was going to win both times even if I didn’t want him to.
This feels great! We get our country back. Yahoo! Yes, yes, happy dance here.
You all fired up? Ready to go?
I’ve looked forward to this day for years. Thanks to all of you for being here on his amazing journey.

I’m un-focused, too. But I had to turn off Rachel Maddow last night. If I watch anything tonight, it’ll be Stewart and Colbert’s “Indecision ‘08″ on Comedy Central.
Thank goodness. Thought this day would never come!
FunnyD
oh jeez, why do click on your links, you give me nightmares.
I watched that last rally last night streaming over the web. What was different to me is that around here they do that as a call and response. The call is “Fired up!” and the response is “Ready to go!”
Eight long years of darkness about to be lifted. I feel like a six year old on Christmas Eve. And the grandparents just drove up in a full station wagon.
Whoo, I’m not being very productive today at work. I’m cautiously optimistic about tonight.
I’m sure everybody readin this already knows this, but it bears repeating — a victory tonight (God willing) doesn’t mean the end of a long struggle, but the beginning of the struggle.
Without our help, Obama will be just another centrist Democrat. But if we maintain our energy and keep pushing and pushing throughout his administration, he can be another FDR.
oh I know. I am psyched.

Alcohol at 2 in the afternoon (1 in TN?) and yer worried about yer arteries and dairy products?
………….YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
lolol!
Hey SD, this is where all this started for me:
My sole contribution at work today was making a bank deposit when I came home for lunch. Other than that all we’ve done is run our mouths, asking each person who comes in the door if they’ve voted and if not best be gettin’ off their ass and doin’ it. Although in a nicer way. With no more deposits today guess this afternoon will be a total washout workwise. Ho hum.
Speaking of which, back to the lounge, er, work.
Anybody who disputes the power of ONE, has NEVER spent the night, alone, in a tent with a mosquito!
We’re fired up and ready to go!
