Update (6:14) State Results:
Fl 52-44, Ga47-51, Mi 60-39, Mh 57-43, Mn 60-39, Pa 57-42, Va 55-45, Wi 58 42, Oh 54-45, Nc 52-48, In 52-48, Mo 52-48, Nv 55-45, Nm 56-43
Fox’s exit poll results are out. As everyone’s noting the primary concern is the economy, but what I found more interesting were these results:
67% are worried about being able to afford health care
70% predict their taxes will go up under Obama
61% expect their taxes will go up if McCain wins
49% expect taxes will go up no matter who wins
American’s aren’t quite as unrealistic as politicians think. They know a lot of spending has occured, and they know taxes will probably have to go up as a result. And there appears to be enough worry about affordable health care that universal health care should absolutely be on the table after the election.
Update (6:11 EST): HuffPo has detailed State exit polls here.
Put exit poll results in comments.

Obama got 67% of the vote in New Hampshire! 4 electoral votes.
Ian !
Where’d you see that Loo Hoo ?
TPM map. Scroll over the map to see results. Really a cool tool.
Petro, how’s the Great White North?
Hold up. It says 0% of precincts reporting…
That has to be based on Exit polling as the polls haven’t closed there for at least another hour or so.
TPM ain’t workin’ for me.
guess who is looking down on us tonight with Toot?
http://www.nps.gov/hofr/planyo…..211;_2.jpg
RevDeb said that was from the two towns that voted at midnight.
First 6 polls close at 7 p.m. Eastern

Mh…? Huh?
Hey Dood ! Most of us and people around the World are very excited about this election.
wow. Here, it is, way after 6:01, and Indiana hasn’t been put in the R column yet.
Polls in the eastern time zone in Kentucky and Indiana closed at 6PM EST (both states vote 6AM to 6PM local time) but the votes are not called until the polls close in the Central time zone.
I believe that is by law now as I remember in ‘72 when the networks were calling Kentucky for Nixon when we were still voting in the central time zone.
okay this makes me nervous
70% predict their taxes will go up under Obama
This is very exciting.
Like I say, I don’t think they can call a state until ALL the polls are closed for that state. Kentucky and Indiana are in the same situation.
i think im too old for this…….”g”
Reagan wins!
I know My House is 100-0
Yep, that’s what I heard too.
That might explain it, Petro. Now I can’t trust that map…
Interesting the voters filtered out the lies about Obama raising taxes and they understood that More war McCain meant that no matter what he said more taxes would be necessary to pay for the war.
The voters were paying attention to the issues this election.
Try this one at Kos
My juniper rub came yesterday. Will try it out soon.
I’m psyched,
I was lucky a friend stood in for me so I could go vote before the line’s got out of hand. Still, it took me forty-five minutes.

If you really look at the TPM map you’ll find that most of the precincts have 0% reporting.

Yes, you are absolutely right. Thanks for reminding me.
In fact, I might start practicing on the gin martinis a little later tonight, just to make sure I’m in practice.
Hah! If I watch anything tonight, it’s going to be Stewart and Colbert on Comedy Central.
FunnyD
Jane is going to be on BBC tonight. I’m watching that . Much more civilized, though I’ll probably go back and forth.
Jon Stewart at 10 eastern no matter what.
Thanks Ian.
digg
Thanks, however, for the link. I probably wouldn’t have found it, and as the evening progresses it will be an EXTREMELY cool tool!
I got a Pitcher of Vodka Martini and Chocolate Martini, if you’d like some …
Ohh. Tweety just declared that Obama wasn’t totally clean because he “changed his mind on campaign financing” and KO immediately slapped back at him that he was wrong.
Junipers for medicinal purposes
don’t forget to take the aspirin or motrin before you start drinking. Just planning ahead.
Hey, Ian, off topic, fyi, election day news dump, per WSJ, Paulson wants to bailout GE Capital, CIT, and some others from TARP.

a chocolate martini would be divine.
Glad to hear it. Let me know what you think.
a whole pitcher….you have GREAT style!
I know 2 of ours are, but I’m concerned about the Siamese. She’s an elitist and very conservative… Also, she’s been wandering up and down the hall yowling. I’m hoping that she’s distraught because she senses a McCain loss…
its good …a lot of the teh ballots were wet
wow Indiana BHO
Good. KO needs to just take off the gloves and call BS today. Tweety should know better by now.
FunnyD
I knew y’all would be here … help yourself. You too, Elliott.

you weren’t supposed to eat them all in one night, sadly
Me neither – I’m going out for something to eat. and drink. bbl
He’s been banging that drum for a long time now …
They requested it early this morning when some polling stations weren’t open on time and many machines were screwed up, etc. The ruling was that whoever was in line by 7 would get to vote.
im definately a nervous eater…”g”
Intellectually I know that, but the suspense is killing me (I olny bought one bottle of Vodka, two bottles on wing and one Champagne for when we win)
I’m on Pacific time. They’ll be rolling soon after I get home from work. If not…I’ll just hang out here at the Lake. I’m sure this is just the beginning of today’s LiveBloggingFest!
FunnyD
Where you seeing that?
you are a gentleman. I suspect Canada is a excited as we(US) are
Just in case anyone’s interested in particular races the CNN web site has a section called “Your Races” where you can select up to, I think, 35 races to selectively follow, with the top 3 off to the side. They’ll update during the night. Here’s a link, but it might be to what I’m going to be watching: CNN Your Races (or maybe mine!).
MSNBC ,Obie was ahead early
Oh, but can you be sure it isn’t celebratory yowling? It’s hard to tell with the Siamese, you know!
FunnyD
Yes we are. I’ve spoken to people in several other countries and they’re very excited that Bush’s rule is over !
oh we need a drinking GAME …COME ON PEEPS
From your lips to God’s seal point ear…!
NEW THREAD?

FunnyD
hahahahahahahahahahahahahahhaa
Ian’s upstairs…
How about having to chug something every time a pundit cautions that no matter how huge Obama’s win is he can’t claim a mandate? That seems to be a biggie…
My liver is still recovering from the debates and “My Friends”. How about Chris Matthews spitting?
yah!!!
Yes, you can! You must!
We _want_ everyone to have a chance to vote and have their vote counted, remember? It’s part of what makes us such Godless Liberals and DFHs!

Having some chianti with my spaghetti right now, but if you’ve got some a little later …
did someone ask for a drinking game, stirred up but not shaken?
Bottomless Pitchers for my dear Firepups !
Which Chianti are you having ?
Having first glass of wine right now. Champagne when Obama hits 270 – and I can hardly wait.
I do like my martinis shaken, not stirred, thank you. Keep the gin/vodka chilled so no ice required. You can also try substituting scotch for vermouth.
If it’s patriotic to go to war, it’s even more patriotic to pay for it with taxes!
