Fischerspooner "We need A War"
In Cadeo "The Archer"
Blue Dogs, Time to read and honor your oath of office. Time to reject fear itself, reject enormous MIC spending, needless war and torture. Honor our constitutionally guaranteed liberties by rejecting the surveillance state, mired in to much secrecy. And for Pete’s sake, drop the self defeating Pay Go meme.
We see through your mask. No more.
What’s on your mind tonight?

This sounds like good news…
Thanks ES.

Evening all.. I’m roaring with Suzanne!
Eureka – we need reminding again and again.
HALLOWEEN sequel on HBO. I can’t help myself.
I’ve never watched it.
Ike!
You don’t need to … I’m just a real sucker for any Halloween/bad film. How is is music tonight? Spooky?
I don’t know what to make of it as far as the final AR results.. which project McPalin ahead by 10 or more percent. But, as of yesterday, we topped all early ‘04 turnout.
Yep.
I’m makin’ a list: shallow to sublime.
Dugg your Digg ES!!
Whats on my mind RICO for the Rethuglian party!! Oh I can’t waith to watch them all in Oranje jump suites sing the prison Blues!!
You should definitely take the time to check them both out… if you are up watching Halloween they will make for a very good intermission, imo.
Seconded.
monsterific
RICO for the Rethuglian party!!
I think I want this on a t-shirt.
This is sickening…
Yeppers, there’s all those shiny objects to pursue…!
Heh, that was great!
Uh-oh, the better half just came in from handing out treats, we’re out of ‘em with 40 minutes left to the window of opportunity…!
i didn’t have any – but didn’t figure i would.
Obama is on the ropes.
-Chickenshit Boehner
Excellent.
Stock up on hankies, Boehner.
Speaking of Blue Dog Turds, it looks like I am going to be stuck with that self serving bastard Brian Baird for another term.
And you expect the Bush administration ot investigate their base for fraud??? Be real, never happen, just look at what Bush is doing: US President George W Bush pushes for agency self-regulation on environment issues
Bastard is making sure he has a major effect on the enviroment and the EPA!
start cutting of fingers to give out!! After all it is Trick or Treat night… right??
there be ghosts
I was dumb struck when she came home today with quite a few bags of treats to distribute… I asked her why when we’re in such dire straits… She said how can we not…? Women, I still can’t figure ‘em out…!
CT..How much money do they want? Who is the they that want you to pay this sum, You mentioned a family ownership issue? You have two incomes you and your wife, have you decided it is the best financial decion? How much equirt wil you lose? Is the rental marker aturated as it is here?
I am an affordable housing advocate and dso not think giving up your housing is goog like jumping out of the frying psan into the fire.
If the lake were to start a housing fund how much would it take? Even a loan fund. I am up for $50.00. The community responsibility for one another is a samrt way to insure one another from these disasters. It makes the community much stronger as well.
Don’t try! you never will figure them out just go along with the program… trust me on that one(:>))
a few dollars on such feeds the soul ct. lifts her spirits and it is good karma to give when receiving.
so the hamburger is stretched to last a wee be further this week to make up for it and its peanut butter sandwiches instead of balony. i’ve done that many a year when i had too much month at the end of the money and it was halloween.
Yup, just call her sweetie…)
My trip through a chunk of rural western NC today was a bit unnerving. McPalin country fer sure judging by yard signs. No surprise, but weird. What ARE they thinking?
Not *a one* Dole sign. And THAT is very good news. Sadly, appears they also love their Virginia Foxx.
I’ll drink to that.
Me too if I could Buttt so I will havta settle for my Calistoga(:>(
Seems like a nationwide massive planned theft of Obama signs has been underway. Not sure how much I would weigh the ratio this year… as i might have in years past.
BB, I live in ‘affordable housing’, I owe the state… My Mom will situate my family when my Grandmother’s estate is settled, whenever that is finalized… In the meantime, I’m at a loss to find shelter… Right now, I’m looking at pitching a tent on my Mom’s lawn since they don’t have much room inside…!
i’m hearing and reading many more reports of sign theft than i recall hearing about in the past generals.
at first, i thought it was just an oregon thing since i don’t recall so many stories on the news in ca but realized it is going on all over.
Concerted or not, seems like it would harden and energize the victims. Another Gooper strategic backfire, IMO.
That in-your-face crap makes me yearn for a dem echo chamber like talk radio.
now that you are working up on the hill, are they willing to work up a catch-up plan for ya?
New Bruce Springsteen mp3 available or free download.
Thanks to a day firepup for sending it to me.
It did lift her spirits until she ran out, and, more showed up and she had to turn ‘em away…! Can’t win, either way…! ;-)
Agreed… I read and hear about it happening everywhere.
mcmurtry has released one for free for downloads too es
Drudge is whoring the latest Zogby poll! Mac is back!
I wonder what the Joe the Plumber crowd would say if they knew that Zogby was an Arab name?
-G
No, I’m singled out because I’ve advocated for many of the residents against the management and their arbitrary and capricious actions against numerous residents…! They’re gleefully rubbing their hands because they know they’ve finally got me…!
Endemic in NH…..
-G
Cool thanks! I like McMurtry more than Bruce….)
:( but at least she had some to give out ct – better than hiding inside with the lights out – not answering the door
I’d be pissed, and it would be replaced immediately and patrolled relentlessly. And the first little shit-knocker who I could snag would get charged.
I am not kidding – messing with the franchise is commonplace now, and needs to be greedily and loudly discouraged.
‘Mac is back!’
He has one more crash left in him?

Where I went today nobody would dare steal yard signs.. Just is what it is.
OTOH, dissenters wouldn’t put yard signs out, but no one knows what they’ll do in the privacy of a voting booth.
My D Senator wont even put an Obama sign in his own yard.
$10.00 here in Deadwood city!!
We have had our signs in the past stolen …I hope not this Year!!
hey db
i liked this response to sign theftage
Hi S.
We should start spreading a rumor that sign theft leads to electile dysfunction…By the time the marks look it up, the election’s in the bag.

Happy Halloween, firepups!
I’v been looking for audio or video of Sarah Palin’s dissing of the workers at a photovoltaic product plant she toured today, but haven’t found any. Here’s an account of what she said:
There are going to be 3 or 4 Gooper Senators and CongressCritters left after Tuesday to keep you busy.
Stick around.
not to mention frog marching of booshbots. hell, rove may finally have to testify under oath.
Stand by.
I suspect Americans might draw the line at such focused foreign dabbling in domestic affairs…I would certainly find it somewhat presumptuous if the shoe was on the other foot. ‘Some unknown quantity daring to besmirch the good name of Senator Felchstizzle, harumph’…Better to put this all behind us.
Didn’t Sarah the Hokey Race Baiter try to get a drill here, drill now chant going at a photovoltaic plant?

Aloha ET, besides opening her mouth and inserting her foot with this bon mot…
Her English is atrocious…!
He hasn’t shown you the good one yet.
I didn’t think he was so shy.
Holy fuck, ES. That first vid you linked by Fischerspooner is amazing. Makes me think of perhaps the most decorated military man in US history and eventual peace activist, Major General Butler:

Thats not English it’s “Alaskan” don’t ya know better??
My Bad! ;-)
LOLROFL
Brain Bleach pulease!!
Was just in Stratham again two days ago and was amazed by the sheer number of political signs along the roadways. Mostly Repub signs in the very affluent neighborhood I was in, but encouraging to see a respectable amount of Shea-Porter and Obama signs in that area.
Sure looked nice with the leaves changing and everything!
Her Russian is even worse, even after all the lip-reading she tries to do from her window.
I don’t know… but we should keep our bullhorns and banjos at the ready.
707! Nice one! ;-)
I’ll betcha more people talk like that in Milwaukee or Duluth than in Wasilla. She didn’t talk like that before this campaign, and I don’t know any Alaskans that talk quite like she does.
What ever her accent is she talks too damn much.
That remains to be seen. Like many of you, my life is filled with uncertainties. I value the feedback from and interaction with those of you whom I have met online, and would certainly prefer that to continue if possible…Time will tell.
Hard times and tough dollars are a bumper crop this season. But never forget what and who led us to this place, and never cease trying to work our way forward to a better life for all.
I’m probably sounding quite pretentious here, so I’ll stop to wish you all a good night…And see you at the finish line.

didn’t mean to offend ya ET but it was there and I had to blurt it out!! Maybe I should have said it was Pailinite she was speaking /s

credit companies make deals om debt for pennies on the dollar…have you tried that? Again a payment plam may be arranged. Go to your representative ask for help there and legal aid. Once evicted it is even harder. You are in crisis mode…I know I would be…so go easy on yourself.
I don’t want to harsh anybody’s buzz but the reality of life is that nothing changes overnight. As much as you and I would like to see the world righted overnight, it is never going to happen, overnight. We have to keep up our vigilance, overseeing what is happening to the world. No matter you’re worldview, continued oversight and action is going to be necessary if we hope to see real change in the world. Seriously, you need to get over the idea that it will happen this very minute. One of the biggest problems is that people think change happens now or not at all. If you can’t wait, you don’t deserve it. Quit thinking all or nothing.
So St. John is the Trojan horse after all!
fuckin-A sophie
It took 30 years for it to slip through our grasp.
But it needn’t take 30 more years to get it back….
I’m just somewhat ready and prepping myself for the next step.
It’ll show up….
nope but won’t happen overnight. we get the change we vote for – and then we gotta hunker down in the trenches to keep on our elected representatives and keep them aware of our presence.
lobbyists won’t go away with a bo presidency. neither will we. nor will our demand for restoration of the consitution and a full vetting of exactly what the hell happened in the boosh/cheney administration.
I grabbed the whole day of MSNBC, so if it’s there, must be CNN.
Surprised KO or Rachel didn’t get it up.
Prepping for the next step is good.
that’s it for me tonight, pups. token is feeling better, almost frisky, but is still supposed to be taking it easy until day after tomorrow. time for me to remind him that no matter how he tries to avoid it, that pill will be swallowed. by him. only 6 more days of twice a day reminders that i’m the alpha dog in this house.

Exactly Suzanne, we have to keep fighting for what is right. We have to keep voting our conscience. We have to keep educating those left behind to what is decent and right. To those who don’t believe there is a right way to do things, see history…..

Aloha, Suz! I’ll be up the mountain tomorrow nite!

That, to me , is so cool, none of us can relax, we need to keep up the good fight for REAL democracy. REAL free markets. What we have now is not FREE and it is not REAL.
Casper the friendly ghost…funny entro for Vets and anti war folks
So good to hear.
In response to bonkers at 126.
Change comes from pent up demand, when it gets so bad the majority of people insist on it. Or the political mechanisms are manipulated by those in power. The emergence of K street is a firewall against we the people democracy. Pols need money to get elected. Thr repuke neocons have think tanks to congure up plans to derail progressive legislation that is not in their interests.
Public policy needs to be crafted…are there any progressive think tanks?
A road map to success need to be created and followed by the dems. What is your vison and do you know of any process to road to sucess?

Your anger and vehemence is understandable. The verbiage you use to express it is confusing to me. I understand everything you say about the machinations of power and the manipulations thereof and the necessity for change of the status quo. However, it does not change the fact, that throughout history, change happens somewhat gradually. Progressive think tanks may need to be established, but will their establishment change the rate of progress of progressive minds amongst the general population? I doubt it. Change will occur, I think, more along the lines of Obama’s way, as much as it may irritate those of us who wish for a more expedient line of progressive thought, human nature does not support such venues.
this was in response to bigbrother @ 133
If Obama wins, there are certainly signs from his actions that we’ll have to keep pressure on him, and having a bunch of Blue Dog Dems (i.e. Repubs) in Congress isn’t going to help matters.
My fear is a repeat of the 1990s where fellow Dems would tell us Liberals, “Relax, we have a Dem Prez. It’s not so bad.” We cannot allow this complacency take hold this time. Organized actions like Blue America and Accountability Now are the key. If we can muster up the same outrage and support for these movements as we did to combat Bush and Repubs over the last few years, I like our chances as far as cleaning House (and Senate!).
I agree with you totally as to the intent of what we need to accomplish. However, we need to keep in mind that we are a minority of sorts and to establish what we want as the norm, we need to understand that the majority is somewhat wishy-washy in their support of real change.
Hey, Sunny -
You still about?
People have been conditioned to be afraid of everything. Afraid of personal safety, of economic safety, of national security safety, of pretty much every safety. We need to find a way to take away fear. To instead instill courage and defiance of phoney fear that has been projected upon the American psyche for so long.
Hi Waccamaw, I’m here.
Full of a great dinner and lots of wine. How be you?
I would love to hear about your great dinner if you don’t mind sharing it?
Your anger and vehemence is understandable.
That was not anger..it was objective anaysis. Read history…the time between the events lokes wars is even more interesting than the shiny event in history.
Progressive think tanks may need to be established.
The neocons think tanks have come up with ways to get what they wanted. The reactive approach to events is a bandaid at best or a failing policy.
The big banks got what they want and the investors. We the people got the bill. The whole discussion…Barney Frank…Paulson…G7 summit last Saturday. All of that led us to more debt and when that failed the Fed started lending the corporations the banks refused to lend to, which was the purpose of the bail to ease the credit crisis and get the economy rolling again.
Monterey has a public policy think tank from the Clinton days http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Leon_Panetta.
Well, awake……….but no great dinner or wine. Good on ya. *g*
Where ‘abouts were you in rural WNC today? Still in SE end of state and haven’t been over that way since late October. Planning a short trip back mid-November for appointments then back east ’til end of December. After that will be back west for winter months; am bound and determined to work on the pups get-together during that period of time.
I am totally with you for the establishment of an Progressive Think Tank. My only caveat is that human nature is what it is. Don’t take for granted that the political folks you support are for real progressive change, right now. I was trying to say that human beings don’t take well to abrupt change, it takes time. I want progressive change as much, or more, than anyone. I have just learned that human beings don’t always adjust to adjustments well.
sophie -
Definitely agree on the progressive think tankS (think multiples!) issue but there are also organizations like CREW that are already in place that progressives need to support now.
http://www.panettainstitute.or…..anetta.htm
Public Policy a progressive approach
I suggest for a great dinner, this time of year. Pork Tenderloin with a Pinot Noir/whole grain mustard sauce and sweet onion and roasted garlic confit, baby green beans, and roasted fingerling potatoes. For dessert a Caramelized Pear Tiramisu.
i am all for supportin progressive Think Tanks now. I just want to make sure we appreciate the right wing nutballs that have been around for decades and decades, that we need to refute now and maybe we aren’t up to it yet…
sophie @ 151 -
Spit! I hate it when threads get long; with dial-up it takes forever to reload so the “reply” button works.
Is that a virtual menu or do you have actual recipes for some of the droolers listed?
Being Halloween and all, I’ll take some chocolate:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1wfamPW3Eaw
I am a personal chef and caterer, so I can get you the recipes for whatever your heart desires….
Realistically, we ain’t nowhere near “up to it yet.” Best short-term solution I know of is also monetarily supporting *new* media like Free Speech TV and LINK TV so that progressive voices can get at least a little air time. We need to encourage Rachel to have those kind of people on also.
I so totally agree with you. I love Rachel Maddow and Keith Olberman. The only liberal voices on main stream television.
Hi jumping in – woke up
sophiehunter. Isn’t the status quo something that many are trying to cling to or a perception of the good old days. Isn’t there a fear that kids will not be like Beaver and Wally. The fundies have become apowerful force not because they understand anything but see progress as threatening to their view of a wonderful world. History has been redefined. Historical anomolies are redefined, The Rev Wright represented the reminder of one of those anomolies (at least in the momentary clip that was on constant loop). The bodies floating in the street in NO created another anomoly. The failure of the media to show what was happening in St Paul or Denver prevented another anomoly. One of the first things that must be done is to create a real media. What we have now is a farce.
Oh, hot diggity doggities! Another good cook at the Lake! Have you been to any of Christy’s Saturday morning pull up a chairs when we get on a recipe kick?
Did you start the business on your own or is there a culinary school background as well?
Have you ever said what part of the country you hail from…..if that isn’t being too intrusive?
Many of Obama’s goal could be furthered by smart strategies. Change occurs at the tipping point of equilibrium…ann examplr is the Credit default Swaps and Collaterized Debt Obligatio Markert or the paper wealth casino om wall street. That was propped up for year and was known to be at the point of crash.
Public policy could have averted this global disaster. Your belief that I am expecting quick change is innacurate. I see the ending the War as a major motivation and as events are unfolding is see that could happen faster than expecet as the SOFA is not happening.
Regulating the orderly conduct of business environment and such is an overseer duty of congress that they have passed on for whatever reason.
Public Policy and the think tanks that produce it also need an implementing strategu or framework. Just putting the tooth under the pillow does not make the wish come true.
Energy policy is a huge impact on the economy…Bill said “it’s the economy stupid”. We need a policy that does not send a Trillion out of our economy every year…that is a large chunck of capital we lose every year. It is also a consensus builder as it help Wall street abd Main street.
Infrastructure repair is needed…will create jobs and it is deteriorating as we speak.
The short of it we have many problem if we want to keep our society healthy. Taking the healthcare load off of business and families is a win win for everyone but the profiteer.
Public policy can change thing in a way that will enhance us all. You have to sell it. That is where a PP Framework comes in. Bringing the stakeholders to the table.
Been meaning to ask…….that isn’t the foothills of NC, by any chance?
Rockies
I ao agree with you in so many ways. The Wally and Beaver idea is so appealing to so many, of every age that watches TVLand. However, as much as the Fundies see the “new world” as threatening; I see more egalitarian ideas, more mixed race, more mixed culture, more intellectual ideas of politics, more sophisticated dining (see 151 above), more philosophical ideas dropped into the mix of everyday life. At the end of the day, they (the ideoligically challanged), cannot win. Seriously, I believe it is impossible, for so many reasons….
I am from Southern California, although I was born in South Hampton, New York. I have been cooking since I was seven years old. I have over 500 cookbooks, I have not attended cooking school, but I dare anyone to ask me a question about food that I cannot answer. I have been catering since I was 16 years old. I have catered dinners and parties in Beverly Hills, Hollywood, Pasadena and more. I offer all of you totally free food advice.
Of course, no one has used it more effectively or persuasively than Barack Obama. His name, race and background are the essence of change. He has captured the public’s discontent with Washington’s divided politics, the political gridlock, the tired policies of the past with these stirring words that are usually part of every speech – “We are one nation. We are one people. And our time for change has come.” Leon Panetta
Probably wouldn’t count as a great meal for everyone, but today I was mourning the end of summer and the absence of my too distant friends, who can finish my sentences.
Visited a hydroponic farmer who let me pick some surprisingly good tomatoes, copped a straight out of the oven baguette from a small bakery, found a perfectly ripe avocado and an amazing pear of a variety I’ve not seen before.
Pear resembled an extremely attenuated bartlett, delicate yellow skin, somewhat mottled, not too hard but not grainy or mushy – ’twas simply a point. The perfume and flavor was extraordinary.
Already had marvelous local goat cheese at home and a cold bottle of mediocre italian white wine. Laid it all out like a summer picnic with the fading basil and fresh limes – voila, instant bliss. I’m still smiling.
We have been on the wrong road for a long time. We need Think tanks but perhaps much more we need a responsible MSM. How many of our fellow citizens know what is happening in the Congo or Iraq. The rethugs have given us “reality tv candidates” McIdiot says nuclear is viable look at France and no one sees that the French have had over 1100 incidents this year including two rivers having to be closed for drinking, swimming etc.
I understand and appreciate your disappointment with the performance of the stockmarket and the credit markets of late and the support of the “Bailout Package” by the Congress. I too am disappointed with the support of our Congress for this “Package”. They claim it is a financial package that helps all of us, however, I know, from personal experience, this is a bald faced lie. I used to be a research analyst for several large firms that invested in High Yield Bonds. We made huge profits from investing in “failed securities”.
Best element of a great meal is an appetite to match…me
Wow, sounds amazing. The best is always what is ripe aned available to where you are.
The best element of any great meal is the belief that it is by those involved.
That defies logic.
For example, I bought beautiful wild caught Scallops today. I also bought fresh, beautiful red peppers. I grilled the peppers and peeled them. I then processed them with roasted garlic, chardonnay, fresh thyme, cream, salt and pepper in a food processor, at the end I added a few tablespoons of butter. I dusted the scallops with salt, pepper and smoked paprika and seared them in clarified butted in a sautee pan. I served them with the Roasted Red Pepper Garlic Sauce and Sauteed Green Beans. Great main course.
I love good food prepared with TLC but it is difficult when living alone especially when one loves variety.
How so?
Hands on experience is as good as it gets. Was gonna ask how the business was doing given the economy but sounds like you’re fortunate to have set up base where there’s still money in peoples’ pockets.
One of my favoritest cooking refs is The Food Lover’s Companion (good for people like me who came to the stove later in life)……..has never failed when a question arises about unknown ingredients/techniques. If more depth needed, then on to teh google. Not to fear, your offer will be taken. *g*
Sunny @ 166 -
Been hittin’ the food resources in Aville today? Sorry to hear about the distant friends……temporarily or permanent?
Oh I don’t believe this. I cook for myself, all of the time. I do often share things with my neighbors, who have become great friends. After all, who doesn’t like to get good food free from folks.
Hi Mike do you have a link to the 1100 nuke incidents? We have a poewr Mothers org here that would like it. Our nuke is 15 miles and hand a huge transformer explosion and fire next to a five story building last month.
A failed security sounds like something that has lost its value.
My immediate family has become small, due to attrition, howeve, I have many friends who love to eat and I love to feed. Most of my cookbooks have been written by great chefs. I love to cook the simplest to the most gourmet. Cooking and the financial markets are my passions.
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/wor…..522712.stm
Is that the one we’ve been hearing about that the gov. didn’t know happened ’til five days later?
Geez, that sentence structure sounds awful but hope you get the meaning.
a failed security has lost its value, however, it can recover its value, therein lies its potential value. I used to manage $1.5 billion in High Yield Bond mutual funds. Also did the marketing to raise the money. Ask me anything.
I will do this occassionally but enjoy cooking in a social and shared thing. A glass of wine and lots of conversation.
A glass of wine a conversation is what it is all about…
I cook for neighbors/friends to make myself eat better……they haven’t complained yet. *g* As a single, it seems time wasteful to only make one/two servings and when the recipe is for 4-6, I’m thoroughly sick of whatever it was before it’s gone. Excess doesn’t always translate well when frozen.
Some of my favorite recipes are what I refer to “ginuea (sp?) pig recipes (never tested) that get tried out on guests; amazingly, they always turn out well.
Not so far west as you go. Davie, Iredell and Yadkin Counties – western edge of the piedmont. Pretty country, but the McCain/Palin yard signs were spooky.
And the Foxx signs are bloody everywhere. No indication of activity from her opponent visible. I’ve not followed that race as closely as I should. No heart for it. She never interacts directly, just votes the party line and parrots talking points – ‘cept for her voting against the immediate aid for NO, she outdid the majority on that one. And her advocacy of torture. She’s the essence of what’s wrong with the R party. I’m gerrymandered into her contorted district.
I like organic…live two blocks from weekly farmers market and have a petit jardin. My soil was carefully chosen red clay and Local AG University compost layed in recycled redwood planter boxes. Well drained with southern exposure the produce is strong and a little bit is satisfying as it is high in minerals and vitamins although not large.
I will not buy food grown with pesticides. I grind my own organic grain into flour for pancakes and such. Preparing small amounts of food fresh. I like the frech style a lot of conversation or blogging in between courses.
Exactly PSE did not report it to the news but did the mandatory filing with NRC.
Here in CO things are looking pretty good Knock on wood. Looks like Udall is good for Senate; Polis hopefully will take his rep seat; Musgrave (a Tom Delay foot soldier) is behind and Tancredo’s old seat is neck and neck.
I am all for fresh and organic. However, I love beef, pork, chicken, freshly caught fish and shell fish. I eat vegitarian often, living in California, I have access to great vegetables. I do love meat though. Call me bad if you want to. I make vegetarian pizza from scratch, one of my favorite meals. But I also love Roast Beef with scratch Gravy, and Roasted Garlic Mashed Potatoes.
Yeah, I remembered you were in foxx country. That woman is loathesome! Whenever she speaks on C-Span, out comes the clicker. Sounds like there’s not much hope of getting rid of her based on the signage. :-(((
Here’s hoping Kissell manages to win this go-round; he’s been one of the down-tickets candidates I’ve supported financially both last time and this. Please Dog dole has shot herself in the foot with the bachmann-like ad!
Are you anywhere near Hickory? I dog-leg by there going down 321 on some trips back and forth and would love to meet up sometime.
Leon Panetta might be a good advisor to Obama, A friend of the clintons as their WHite House Chief of Staff it was his policy that produced a surplus that Bush enjoyed coming into office. An attorney summa cum laude with a lot of good political connections.
These kinds of folks could make the Obama presidency rock.
yo
Only thing I think that will make an Obama administration rock is creating jobs. Job creation and bottom up economics is the only thing that really works.
OMG! Obama displays a “rare flash of anger”:
http://news.yahoo.com/s/nm/200…..alloween_3
Guess that means he isn’t fit to be president. s/
And on that note I’m off for a badly needed shower and maybe a coffee mooch with the down-street neighbor.

I have lost my taste for meats as my body and diet have adjusted ans I don’t have strong cravings. I like to supplement with soft cheeses brie, camabert Havarti and munster.
Desired pastas lately love balsamic vinegar with steamed string beans or cucumber slices. Like my red pepper flakes with the pasta and organic safflower oil and butter.
The sback is moer a fav than the whole meak which is a higher level of effort. I want to make somw egg noodles scratch.
‘Bout time you made it outta bed, sleepy head. *g*
*smooches* to the furry children
My freezer has beef, pork, chicken, venison, tuna and shrimp in it. It is difficult sometimes to find meats that are not raised in feedlots.
You bet.
Remember the days when there was a “night” crew and “morning” crew and people were responsible for latching and unlatching the screen door? *G* Mercy, seems like the Lake has been flowing on forever…………
True dat!
Yea, we stayed up really late, 11!
Egg noodles from scratch are fairly easy. If you need a recipe, let me know. my e-mail is sophiehunter AT live DOT com.
3 Am better hit the hay and be fresh for the morning row the tide is cooperating and my endurance is growing…life is good when your in shape and the computer is operating cooperatively…the goblins got in my hard drive pr3evnting me from 9 to 11 blogging and I was pissed at it as useless as that was. Enjoyed the sharing it is a beautiful day above ground feel free to enjoy another spin.
Wish I did have access to the resources of aville. The people probably more than the food. I landed here relatively recently and it’s never been a particularly good fit, though I love the country aspects. I’ve always been a city girl.
Ashville is a city.
ooops Asheville
Oh-oh
http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/27481680/
I am so for changing the laws to make it so that our food chain is better delivered, more organic and more humane. In California we have Proposition 2, which is for more humane treatment of animals. Not for vegetarians, but a better way for omnivores in our state.
Aaaaahhhhhhhhh……….PTL for running water and showers! Human again I feel. :-))
Sounds truly awesome. Seriously. Fresh and local is the best.
foothillsmike @ 209 -
Yeah, it’s gonna be shit meet fan big time with that running 24/7 ’til the elections. Spit, spit and double spit! That little tidbit has “leak” written all over it!
sophie @ 210 -
And doing away with modified foods…….and giving FDA/USDA some big teeth again…….and the food safety list goes on forever. :-(((((((
I know that. I’m not in Asheville. However, I did spend some quality time in your burg back in the day. I’ve some greek letters to prove it;-)
I will have to read Prop 2 more carefully, I do not want genetically modified foods, do not want to give the FDA/USDA big teeth, etc, etc.
Hickory would be easy. Even if it weren’t, I’d happily hit the road to meet. Just let me know.
Not sure I see what you are saying, An FDA / USDA that has the interests of the public as its core value would be a good thing. For the past eight years and maybe longer government agencies have become tools of the corporations.
Sorry, bad communicate skills at this end of the toobz……….wasn’t making any reference to the Prop 2 legislation tho’ am very much in favor of more humane animal treatment. The GMF’s are slipping through the cracks in many other ways. Since it’s the FDA/USDA (at least at this point in time) that are in charge of food inspection and regulation, it’s critical that they be funded adequately for increased inspectors/scientists/testing/etc.
WIZARD! Made myself a note long ago and far away about your e-mail address plus something about warning you ahead of time at the Lake to look for message. Let me know if anything has changed wrt that.
I was responding to Waccamaw at 213 although it seems I was wrong, reference Waccamaw at 218. Obviously, I don’t know enough about Prop 2 YET to make a decision for myself. Although, I swear I will read every Prop before I vote on Tuesday.
You can have all of the best inspectors etc but if you have political appointees who reverse, block or negate their findings what do you get.
Oh joy, I love talking food! Perhaps when the current excitement subsides, someone will post a food diary and we can chat to our hearts’ content.
I’m also dialup challenged, so I missed this post. It’s quite difficult to reload, post and keep up.
Clearly not your fault. I need to buck up my knowledge of Prop 2 before I vote on Tuesday. Thanks for your input though…
The title of the Yahoo piece “Rare flash of anger” was a tad strong. Gee, what dad wouldn’t want the journalists to back off his daughter.
I understand your dialup issue to a point, I do have high speed, but I’m not sure how to keep up in real time, so I have to go back and forth….
Merde! You get merde! And, Dog! mike………they’re everywhere! burrowing in for eight long years they have been. You look at *any* governmental agency and there’s the same problem; DOJ just being one of the most visible. Some days I just despair. :-(
Never despair, it isn’t worthwhile….
Of course I don’t mean to disparage your feelings, I just mean that things are alway better than we think they are, if we believe it is so. Call me a positive thinker….
Yeah……just a wee tad!!! They’ve been lookin’ for *anything* to jump him for and clearly created his response. Forgot to look……probably one of AP’s hit pieces. :-(
OTOH, it was rather fun to read the piece (don’t remember where) about him kicking several so-called journo’s off the plane. hehehehehe
Very cheering to hear CO is getting with the program. I’m superstitious enough to say much.
Should be good. But do be sure to alert me.
I really try to keep my negativity from polluting the Lake but occasional flashes *will* seep through. Have spent the last eight years watching bush and his republic thugs and supporters destroy this country in ways both large and small. To the point that, when it comes to any of them, my immediate reaction is things are always worse than they appear to be. We’d drive each other crazy as roommates, wouldn’t we *g*….plus I’d wind up weighing 200 lbs. eating your good food. *G*
Just got an E=mail Wesley Clark to hook up w/ Obamas after a few other engagements here in CO. I didn’t realize he graduated #1 in his West Point class and was a Rhodes Scholar. Rethugs like dumb though.
I have to admit, I like Wesley Clark.
Tell ya what……I’ll give it a try sometime this weekend to see if it gets through and we can touch base next week to find out if successful.
Off to bum that coffee now; y’all have a good day…….four and counting………
Monday morning should be interesting around here. I’m personally on pins and needles and just hoping that the polls are right.
and he taught economics at West Point!
The voting lines in the Atlanta area have been large with some folks waiting in line 8-10 hrs. It would seem that the Secretary of State (repub) could have doubled the number of voting machines in the sites that were opened. I waited close to three hours on Wednesday and my son waited over 4 hrs yesterday.
We had mail in ballots – I hand delivered to county clerks office and there wasn’t any line.
Good morning, pups. It’s Collins, Blow and Herbert today. Ms. Collins on “Our Election Whopper:” Omigosh, it’s almost here. The one and only Election Day! The best approach at this point is probably to ignore all polls. Take a deep breath. Do a little meditation. Mr. Blow looks at “An October Demise,” and says for John McCain to have a chance, everything needed to go his way in October. It didn’t. Mr. Herbert considers “The Known Unknowns,” and says on Tuesday the question will be answered whether economic anxiety trumps the concern that many voters might have about Barack Obama’s race.

The coffee, tea and hot chocolate are ready, and I’ve got waffles with Vermont maple syrup. We tried again yesterday morning to vote early but when we got there at 8 AM the line was approaching 1/4 of a mile long. I’ve told my boss that I’m going to be at the polling place at 7 AM on Tuesday and she’ll see me when she sees me. I remain cautiously optimistic. Have a great day.
JPL & Marion -
Isn’t it your $#@%^*&% governor who refused to extend voting hours?
Yep. She channeled Katherine Harris and muttered something about how she didn’t have authority or the state constitution was against it… Be that as it may, the League of Women Voters of Georgia has these figures:
I remain cautiously optimistic.
It wasn’t the governor, it was the Secretary of State, who is a “she.”
Waccamaw, Tuesday is going to be a night mare here. The Sec. of state purged some voters and changed addresses on others so their licenses will not match up with the voting roles. My son voted early because that happened to him. People on Tuesday are going to show up at the wrong polling site and will not be told where they are suppose to go. Polling sites only have the ones that are listed for that particular site.
Christy’s upstairs with Pull Up A Chair
checdk out this mccain voting fraud!
