El Tinklenberg has raised $1.8 million dollars since Michele Bachman’s ill-chosen words on Hardball, saying Barack Obama is "anti-American." That’s more in one quarter than any House candidate has raised in any race this year.
The GOP has bailed on Bachmann’s race, so she’s on her own and lying to try and stay in office:
"When El Tinklenberg ran the department of transportation, officials called up their cronies and offered them contracts, unbid contracts," the second ad says. "The Star Trib said he broke the law. And federal authorities called it tainted."
Bachmann’s allegations are based on a series of Star Tribune stories from January 2003 on the Minnesota Department of Transportation. The newspaper raised questions about changes made during Tinklenberg’s time as commissioner designed to speed up contracts.
MnDOT officials hired outside consultants without required approval from the Department of Administration. They also violated a requirement to have project funding in place before signing a contract. But the stories did not claim Tinklenberg broke the law.

The Office of the Legislative Auditor also looked into the contract questions. Its 2003 report criticized MnDOT and five other state agencies, for not always following state statutes, guidelines or effective management principles.
But the report did not suggest any crimes were committed, and Tinklenberg’s name was never mentioned.
Bachmann is also taking credit for falling gas prices:
"Gas was $2.04 a gallon today and that was my goal when I started out earlier this year. My goal was to have us get to $2 … today in the district it’s $2.04 so we’re almost there," she told one voter.
The Star Tribune recently endorsed Tinklenberg, referring to Bachmann’s "list of bizarre incidents and statements that undercut her credibility as a political leader."
Next up: Michele Bachmann parts Red Sea.

Larry Sabato’s predictions for the election.
Looking good.

Did she really give tongue to Bush?
Michele Bachmann is the gift that keeps on giving.
I guess she’ll solve world hunger and save all the children after that?
Oh wait. She only cares about the “un-born.” Once out of the womb, they’re on their own.

Chris Matthews: “I had no idea so many people watched my show” (really – he said that).
Yeah, that’s it Chris – nobody else picked it up; no other teevee shows, no newspapers, and certainly it was nowhere to be found on those evil, delusional, truth-hating, irresponsible, fact-averse BLOGS) !
Narcissistic much buddy?
We sent $10.00 of that even though he is un-american!!! Honest to goodness, as a political party, the goopers this year have, collectively, been the worst campaigners imaginable I can only assume that is the result of absolute arrogance and the assumption that nobody, but nobody should presume to run against them. They are without any ideas of how to improve the lot of Americans, they are devoid of plans, imagination and hope.
I guess she’ll solve world hunger and save all the children after that?
hey – no fair throwing *New* Testament stuff at a repub.
It’s icky and socialist, ya know…
Bachmann represents all that is sleaze. We have a similar race hear in CO and it looks like she will be joining her mentor Delay in retirement.

Enjoy the gas prices now. Prices will skyrocket after the election, no matter who is elected. The United States is controlled, in large part, by Big Oil. Big Oil and the Republicans would like us to forget that gasoline was approaching $5 a gallon. It shall resume course on November 5th – even if McCreep is elected.
OT – Fighting has increased in Eastern Congo, and people are fleeing Goma. The UN buffer zone appears to be ineffective. My brother-in-law’s NGO works with many victims of war in Eastern Congo, particularly women and girls who have been raped by soldiers. The brutal rapes and subsequent injuries are called “delayed genocide,” as they are intended to injure the women so that they can never bear children. Here is a message received this morning:
bonjour Yaya, je voulais te saluer. J’espère que tu es rentre à Fresno. Je suis triste aujourd’hui depuis l’annonce de la guerre aux portes de Goma. Je pense à toutes les Mamans qui ont été violées qui le seront encore peut-etre. J’ai peur pour elles. Que Le Seigneur les épargne de cette épreuve douloureuse. A toutes ces fillettes. Que Dieu protege notre Pays;
Greetings Big Brother, I wanted to greet you. I hope you are back to Fresno. I am sad to inform you today the war is near Goma’s gate. I am thinking of all the women who were raped and who are still being raped. I am afraid for them. May the Savior keeps them from these painful tests. To all these little girls. May God protect our country.
Please, as we are preoccupied by the election, keep these people in your tender thoughts.
Bachmann was born Michele Amble in Waterloo, Iowa. She grew up in Anoka, Minnesota. Her parents divorced. She has said, “I grew up in a very male-dominated home with three brothers and a dad who was a real outdoorsman.”[3] An RNC press release states that at age 13 she became financially independent.[4] Graduating from Anoka High School in 1974, she went on to attend Winona State College (now Winona State University). To pay her tuition, she worked various jobs, including cleaning fish at her uncle’s resort in Alaska.[4][5] It was at Winona State that she met her future husband, Marcus Bachmann.[4][6]
I guess she’ll solve world hunger and save all the children from the horror that is Aladdin
fixed it for ya :D
My goal this week was to have clear weather for trick or treating here in southwestern Ohio.
You’re welcome.
Ohio prof Vedder, at JEC hearings, is a moron.
Bachmann: HUAC job.
Boy aint that the truth. Is he a McSame advisor?
I don’t know. Off to teh google.
Michele Bachman. Nothing but hate and bile.
Michelle Obama. One “L” of a lot better.
His self-description does not suggest he has anything to offer to today’s hearings.
http://www.ohiou.edu/economics/vedder.html
(Note his email, if you wish to convey some personal thought to him.)
But here’s a fun article, crticizing him for his favoring sweatshops, is probably biased, but even so.

For someone who claims economic history as an area of specialty, he shows precious little attention to the “100 year” event meme. Also, how does he think monetary policy is going to be inflationary when demand worldwide is falling off the edge of a cliff? As I said, moron.
Okey dokey. Heard enuf of the hearing to see the lay of the land. Off to tasks.
Thanks for the info. Yep he seems steeped in ideological bias and little logic and economic common sense.
Come on Tuesday evening……
Bachman is the hood ornament on the Bus…
always wanted to do that. ;-)
Wow, falling gas prices right before an election! That’s never happened before!
Given that the recent reduction of oil prices is largely attributed to the global recession, shutting down of factories, reduction of travel/transport, and collapse of markets. Guess Ms. Bachmann seems to think that she caused that.
Ms. Bachmann must be giving Joe McCarthy a major chubby in hell where Tail Gunner Joe resides.
bachmann is batshit crazy!
not Joeliar? awww. dang!
So gas prices are down because were in a major world wide recession. So Michelle is responsible for the recession?
In Los Angeles, gas still costs $3 a gallon. I guess that is the price of not being located in a swing state.
