- Headline to love: "McCain camp trying to scapegoat Palin."
- The Obama ad buy: flexing his muscle.
- Reax to the Obamamercial here.
- One of the Tuckers denies the Palin ’12 talk.
- Palin: "I’m not calling him unAmerican."
- George Will: "John the Careless."
- Yeah, this would not be funny.
- Francis Fukuyama turns out to be black.
- I find this picture a little disturbing.

Our guy Alan Grayson gets the ringing endorsement of the influential Orlando Weekly.
Cinton cmapiagns with obama and gets 35,000 at a late night rally? Big story. Nope. there’s more impoprtant stuff.

Holy crap – Fukuyama not only rejects McCain, but sets his effigy on fire (so to say).
Where are the other 3 horsemen of the Apocalypse?
This is what Hope looks like!
Great way to start your day. Have a good one!
Read about Palin and the noose yesterday. Wingnuts were beside themselves.
Will ya hear about this? Will they say anything about this?

Sarah Palin ‘Not Going to Let Women Down’
John McCain’s Running Mate Says the Media Have Misrepresented Her Message to Women
Mornin’ peoples. Thanks for the great links, BT. Read the Paklin article. Don’t wanna engage in name callin’ or cussin’ so early in the morning. So I really don’t know what to say about it.
I will I will!
She’s a dumb ass beeetch.
Palin shrugged it off and said the “double standard” made her more determined to “work that much harder for the women in America to show them that that final, hard-as-glass ceiling must be broken.”
Is glass “hard”? Maybe if ya chew on it. Think that’s what she means?
Thanks for that. i appreciate it.
Good morning, BT. I can’t stop laughing at the new word we got from Attaturk’s post:
fusty
It just describes McCain so well:
McFusty for Prez!
Mornin’ Jim. What up in your neck of our great state. We have nooses and college kids sitting on their asses.
Did Palin release her medical records yet as she promised she would?
yeah, they should just go with youtube
Fabulous “Daily Show” turn. Who says he’s not funny?
Too cold to stick my nose out just yet. Think I’ll make a bunch of phone calls for Cunha today. Good luck on Grayson; I hope he can pull it out.
the college kids (mostly UCF) haven’t turned out here. We need a surge from them
yeah
i think Grayson will. and feeney is dead meat. so that’s two neighboring districts in central FL going red to blue. probably. hopefully. maybe?
Good morning. Another day, another poll, another stock market.
Yeah, we’re pushing really hard on the UF kids, too. Last numbers I saw, a couple of days ago, showed the 18-24 group lagging the others for early voting. One person who’s talked to a lot of them says their response is they’re planning to take the day off Tuesday and all vote together. They apparently even say they want to stand in long lines then. I sure hope they follow through, they are the difference in this one.
I did see an “I Report” at CNN.com that showed that they closed down Bethune Cookman on Monday so the students could go vote. There were awesome pictures of huge swarms of students standing in line to vote at the early voting site.
OT – Nouriel Roubini (aka Dr. Doom) to testify before Schumer’s Joint Economic Committee today. details at oxdown.
BTW, I thought Jon Stewart was a bit cowed in his Obama interview. He seems uncomfortable making humor in Obama’s presence.
Mornin’ BT, pups
Great links. Not often I read every one. Two great vids in the comments, although I saw wazzzup couple days ago.
I figure anything Palin isn’t worth my time anymore.
Generation We: it’s about time.
Thanks selise!
Yeah my wife noted that he seemed a lot more deferential than usual. I reminded her that he seems the same way with McCain. As I recall, he was also pretty subdued with Tony Blair and even with Musharraf. I think he’s just trying to show a little more respect to actual leaders. That’s very hard to accomplish when his whole image is predicated on pointing out the shallowness and cynicism of our leaders.
you’re very welcome. i’m just in drive-by mode now but will be back (i hope!) for the hearing.
there’s probably an early voting site on campus, right? there is a UCF. I just don’t get these kids nowadays.
Great piece, selise. Thanks. I agree about Schumer. Much more interested in Roubini’s take.
I didn’t see the McCain segment on TDS. But your general points make sense. I have a vague memory of the Musarraf interview and it is consistent with your hypothesis. And you’re also right that it doesn’t work well for Stewart.
Nope, they have to go about a mile and a half east to the County Admin building. Only three early voting sites in Alachua County. There are at least two polling sites on campus (maybe more?) that will be open on Tuesday, however.
…they’re planning to take the day off Tuesday and all vote together.
the day? doesn’t that start, for college kids, around 2:00 or 3:00 in the afternoon?
Or was that just me?
thank you for that. had no idea he was to testify. should be good
not just you.
know what? now that i think of it, they don’t have EV at UCF. same as UF. there is a polling place on Election Day. They only have EV at libraries, Board of Elections. i never went to a library when I was in college, so i guess the low turnout-so far-is understandable. tere really isn’t an EV site that close to UCF. I feel a l;ittle better about the kids, now.
My friend was talking about the whole 18-24 group, which includes a lot who have already graduated and those not going to college but who are working.
The paucity of early voting sites in some counties, 3 in Pinellas, is not playing well with the electorate. The more jaded among us think it’s just another voter suppression tactic by Rethug election supervisors. Clark in Pinellas told the county commission it was due to budget constraints. The county commission, majority Rethugs, never mentioned giving more money to her. Nor did she ask. Status quo politics. The “keep the black man down” mindset dies hard.
Thinkin’ more about the age thingy…if 34 is too young then what is too old? Seventy-one maybe? Lot’s of ailments in the 70s, grumpy and depressed?
what has you so vexed about the FL youth vote ? is there some indication out there that they are not voting ???
without knowing your source, I’d like to point out the establishment media loves them some “but the youth don’t show up” it’s one of their binkys and they cling to it, tend to see it everywhere.
younger voters in CA turned out in record numbers for their primary but the Corp Media found 2 or 3 districts in LA where there was an under vote and ran buck wild with it
we aren’t gonna know crap until 11/5 and I’ll get my demographic reporting frorm the interwebs thank you very much
yeah. just taklkin’ with Jim White above. he says the kids by him will be going out on 11/4 when there are on-campus polling places. tere are none for EV. But so far, i wish it was better.

Indiana back to toss-up status:
The poll, by Selzer & Co. of Des Moines, Iowa, showed Obama backed by 45.9 percent of those polled, and McCain by 45.3 percent. Given the poll’s margin of error of plus or minus 4 percentage points, the race is a toss-up.

Bad linky…
yeah. they won’t use schools here – and very few on election day — because they say they don’t have $$$ to have all the poll workers have sex offender background checks to work in a school
you mean the link isn’t working or it’s bad news?
Well said. I tend to associate with those not of my age group and down to the young woman where I get a wonderful sub they’re hot for Obama. They’re out there and fired up. The young lady at Fazio’s was going on and on about him and finally asked me who I was gonna vote for. When I replied Obama her eyes lit up. Like the vid says, Generation We gets it. The Rethugs are gonna hafta wait until the 4th to get their real Halloween trick. It’ll look worse than a 48 roll toilet papering after a rainstorm.
thanks for the link. the let’s all go together on 11/4 thingy makes sense. they are used to going everywhere in packs. they stand in line for clubs, concert tickets, dorm assignments, movies . . .it’s what they do :D
Rachel Maddow last night had some university prof who does number crunching sadistics on the vote. It didn’t sound great. It SOUNDED as if the “youth vote” were, as usual, underperforming. Too busy with their vapid and ridiculous Paris Hilton-like lifestyles to do something boring like vote (you know, parties and shopping).
I swear, if the snot-nosed kids sit on their overindulged asses AGAIN…
Currency destruction – for real.

Here are the latest numbers I have, as of 10/27 for Florida’s 6th Congressional district:
Hard to read, but the senior voters as of that date had turned out 31% of their registered voters and the kids only 9%.
Rest my case. Perhaps the voting age should be increased to 25 or 30. Under that age, all they do is party, drink, screw, and urinate on people’s yards.
I’ll wait until 11/5 to say anything.
I can think of about 250,000 who aren’t having such a good time.

speak for yourself.
Was gonna buy gas last week, I never like to let it get too low. Price was still above $3.50. I figured to wait until I really needed it. Yesterday $2.49. I could actually fill up without pawning my watch.
