Oh no, John McCain isn’t like Bush at all. When taking the obvious statement of Joe Biden that a future President will face a test (and the unreported reply that Obama will show he "has steel in his spine") John McCain jumped erratically into the fray with his response. America’s "enemies", whoever in the hell that is, will not test John McCain…
“I’m gonna test them,” Republican John McCain said at a campaign rally in New Mexico this morning. “They’re not gonna test me.”
Which is awesome of course, as we have all seen how well McThuselah has handled variances from his expected routine this fall. Sounds like more of that tremendously successful Bush policy McCain has loved so passionately until a week was left to election day?.
Maybe he’ll send another carrier task force to intimidate ‘Old Europe‘?

Good Gawd… The Irony is palpable…
Cough, cough…!
it was predictable if Sunni leaders were removed by US military that Shites and their Iranian allies would take over that vacuum.
Now Bushco has brought the war hardened troops home to keep the civilian population in line… like Kent State and the National Guard. People who are trained in war not police work. A posse comitatus does not bode well for civil liberties. Will they be declared above the law like they were in Iraq?
Big Brother, the 1984, ruler has arrived in spirit with the Bushco neocons administrations stipping civil liberties backed now by military might. FISA was one in a series of steps to a facist state. As a larger portion of Americans become disenfranchised from the economy with job losses and comensurate unemployment unrests is anticipated with a very ugly response of a military control of our civilian population.
How un american Mr. Bush.
Cognitive dissonance is an uncomfortable feeling caused by holding two contradictory ideas simultaneously
CT does he believe himself? Bush is without a doubt comepletly delusional. What is even more interesting is neocons need that kind of person to carry their failed ideology. The telking heads thay hire, their think tankers and on and on. It is cognative disonance. We call it lying an ethical expalnation for psychologial impaiment.
Hitler had similar delusional thought. MsInsane believes himself while his conservative base is distancing themselves from his extremist behavior. Viscious personal attacks on folks who don’t agree with what he is selling.
What sane personwould attack a Russian border ally as he promoted last spring…South Ossetia? I could go on but just say denial of reality is a dangerous trait in the leader of the antion with most powerful military.
Maverick wants to take the Highway to the Danger Zone. It’s not 1986 any more, dude.
The theory holds that “dissonant cognitions” will cause us to dismiss or alter conflicting information or add justification to one side or the other—not necessarily rationally—in order to regain psychological balance. It’s an important concept to consider in terms of the way people block things out or justify things to themselves.
The inmates are running the asylum.
I suppose this was the meeting to apply the
Big SqueezeOffensive CharmCharm Offensive in person. As to “The Sage of Arizona Speaks of Tests,” doesn’t he sound like Moe Green in The Godfather, retorting to Michael Corleone, “You don’t buy me out, I buy you out”? That moment of bravura served him as a successful audition for a part in the Baptismal montage.
But we can still rescue McCain, and ouselves, from some overseas opportunist’s parallel to such a grisly fate by voting for Obama. Think of it as the only humane thing to do.
Good Morning, Firepups!
It’s cold and rainy this morning in central Jersey. Time for a batch of herb biscuits, hot out of the oven, and plenty of coffee and hot water for tea. Help yourselves. A little something to fortify ourselves for facing the day ahead.
I am looking forward to a president that looks at the world with an open, inquiring mind; an administration that encourages scientific research; a government that doesn’t torture or spy on its citizens…. It’s a long list, and I still have some chores this morning before work.
With only a week to go, be sure you’ve given what you can [time and/or $] to the candidates that matter to you. All of you here at the ‘Lake inspire me with what you do.
Work for peace, every day.
The only enemies McCain will test after Nov 4th will be the Palin wing of his failed campaign.
Good morning Dawgs!
Anyone miss Buchannan?
Anyone else wonder where he’s gone?
Citizen CTuttle:
Ain’t it great, our once and soon to be former criminal President, fixin’ deals with the President of Paraguay ta get his shit in order so’s he ken leave under cover of darkeness in the wee hours of 1/21/09…Obama’s gunna hafta move awfully fast ta beat the US military to the punch with the “January surprise” they got in store for ‘im…I’m REALLY worried about this 1st Bat of the 1st Division deployment, brother CT…the troops in that unit are stone cold.
Citizen sangemon:
Pat the Nazi Buchannan will never be away for long…he’ll show up in a newly reinvented legitimacy on FOX if necessary…where do YOU think the little bastard is?
You really just need to add “NOT” to anything Bush says.
As always, Attaturk, great post to wake up to! Thank you.
Well, I know where I’d *like* him to be. *G*
An EPU’d comment for you on LLN. IIRC, it was the Rubicon that no Roman Army was to cross when its commanders went to Rome. Your observation is hugely valid.
Good morning, pups. It’s Bobo and Herbert today. Bobo is wearing his little sociologist and economist hats again today, and seeks to instruct us about “The Behavioral Revolution.” He opines that the financial crisis may be a coming-out party for behavioral economists to the realm of public policy. Bobo, sweetie, you’re telegraphing something by talking about a “coming-out party.” Even in the chi-chi private school I went to back when you were still in diapers only 2 of the girls had debutante parties… You’re much, much too young to remember the good old days my mother used to talk about. On a saner note Mr. Herbert talks about “A Choice and an Echo,” and says the heyday of Lee Atwater and Karl Rove is over. Yet Senator John McCain handed the reins of his campaign to Mr. Rove’s worshipful acolytes.

The coffee, tea and hot chocolate are ready, and I’ll add some Thomas’ English muffins to njprogressive’s herb biscuits. We tried to vote yesterday after I got off work and the line was soooooo long that we decided that Mr. Marion in Savannah, who has COPD, couldn’t handle it. He’s going to scout for a time that may be less populated, or we’ll bring a folding chair for him. Although I’m frustrated that we haven’t voted yet, I was thrilled to see the line. Believe me — these did not look like McCain supporters to me. Almost exclusively younger folks and people of color. Have a great day.
The Guardian has been turning over rocks again, following the US Election 08. Homegrown vermin!
http://www.guardian.co.uk/worl…..ama-racism
With the coming dem sunami the next challenge will be to sweep in some sound thinking and purge the congress of slacker DINOs and get some new progressive leadership. Bye Bye Nancy and Harry. How about Bernie and Denis or Wexler?
The beltway needs a very deep cleaning to get out all the rot. We’ll see what Obi has in mind by the cabinet he sets up where he want to go. I see some Rs in there – Hagel?
We need an accountability and a truth and reconciliation sessions to expose the go along slackers who return as incumbents.
We need to reform election law and get money out of politics (although there seems to less and less to through around. And we need to get our money back from the “bailout”. It was completely ineffective and only went to make the ones who caused the problem, richer yet again.
The Guardian’s George Monbiot has an essay worth the read:

hard to pick. these are regular Thomas’s muffins, right? not the raisin kind are they? Don’t know. herb muffins look good. I’m gonna have to pony up for njpro to rujn over to ShopRite and pick up some Taylor Ham for me. they never heard of it ’round here. Wetaher has taken a turn for te gorgeous here in the City Beautiful, home to the dumbest TV interviewers in the entire country Barack was supposed to be here with the Big Dawg but they’re going to be in Kissimmee instead. late night rally 10 or 10:30. I wouldn’t even count on that. Barack will probably be running late. Don’t think i can make something that late unless I can find a place to crash in Kissimmee.
I think he’s in a slough desponde.
BBWWAAAAHHHHH!!!
I’m still concerned, sander. EV turnout in tehse parts has been pretty massive but i don’t know if it’s enough.

Waa… have to wait all day for the end of the game, then I can do cartwheels down Broad Street.
Because money and power are the name of the game and not intelligence and critical thinking!
Also this
Regular, original Thomas’ English muffins, with all the nooks and crannies. The only other kind I’ll even consider are the whole wheat ones, which are okay for a change now and then. I’m an English muffin purist!
Hmmmm you and I read the same socialist, muslim, communist, terrorist rag!!!!
yeah. whole wheat ones are good, too. thanks for this. i’m tired of fighting my daughter for them. coffee was defintely a necessity.

A drink of your choice, see @ 21.
just perfect for this morning, english muffins, melty butter and hot chocolate. mMm
Morning. Cold and rainy here in CNY. Great post.
Is there any other? ( Al Jazeera, and Pravda too), when a wide scattering of sources are saying similar things, it is a good sign of veracity; WH, not so much).
If you listen to McCain lately, he says a whole lot of nothing.
Just off the top of my head, I’d say it’s because being stupid is easier than being smart.
Watching JoeScar. He was twisting Obama’s words on the Warren Court and redistrubution of wealth. Andrea set him straight. Really.
McCain labels Obama a ‘redistributor’. Sounds good to me.
Does Johnny know there’s a ‘hanging Sarah’ from the rooftop of a West Hollywood home?
http://news.theage.com.au/worl…..-5af2.html
If so, I bet this house gets carpet bombed today, because…you know…it’s okay to have a ‘hanging Barack Obama wearing a turbin’ on the front lawn, but it’s not okay for anyone to do the same thing to a right winger’s effigy!
Solai, did you watch Rachel Maddow last night? She showed a portion of McCain’s rally where he’s talking about nuclear facilities not being safe and polluting/hurting the area around then. As soon as he says, “blah blah blah” the audience goes wild with applause and then Rachel says (paraphrasing), “They’re applauding what? A new Chernobyl?”. LOL And when Johnny implies, “Tax the poor; feed the rich!!!”, the applause is deafening. *rolling eyes* Unbelievable.
Did she? Way to go Anj. She’s been pretty knowledgeable throughout the campaign about alot of the Obama stuff that was being twisted. Matthews has been good too./ he seems really disgusted by the McCain campaign-especially since Palin was chosen. Seems like he has nothing but contempt for her.
that nuclear safeguards, bla bla bla bit was really crazy, these creatures are not using the thinking part of their brains
Champagne a week from today would be the ticket.
Taking “tainted” money out of the election process, all political adverts given free air time, limitation of “political season” to absolutely no more than 6 months (3 preferable), are the basic restructuring necessary IMO.
IMO, the widespread education of the public in economics is a political necessity for the continuation of the Republic. All too often, any discussion of these matters becomes overcome by those spewing conspiracy theories incorporating conjecture, absurdities, simplifications that replace the complexities involved. Such purveyors of conspiracy do a disservice to the public debate and are a danger to the public welfare by replacing facts with conjecture. YMMV
Yes, only boys send a chill up his leg
LOL. True. Michelle Bachman didn’t do it for him either.
Good morning, BFL. Hope you find a way to make that work. I’m going to the Biden rally this morning in Ocala. It’s on a horse farm, so I get to go there in my heavy duty truck with the horse club membership stickers next to my MoveOn “John McCain: Bush’s Third Term” sticker. I’ll wear the T-shirt for Tim Cunha, my Wranglers and my Harris Leather baseball cap. Hope a lot of horse people show up; I’ll work ‘em hard for Cunha.
Hi folks…
Just found this item for NC judge election ballot:
Just another poor country lawyer who could use a vote.
morning t-bear.
i don’t think there is anything wrong with conjecture – so long as it’s not confused with evidence.
National Security Experts Agree: Biden Was Right; Enemies Likely To ‘Test’ Next President
Addendum to 46:
Had there been a body of economic understanding in the public arena, this bailout would never have been proposed. It is the price of ignorance that allowed the enactment. Again YMMV.
a relation of “eyebrows” ervin of the watergate hearings?
Morning all,
Let us hold off on the champaigne until a week from tomorrow. A week from today is the last and most important day of the GOTV effort.
Now, Rudy’s on, talking about spreading the wealth around. Is this a winner for McCain? I tend to think that’s an appealing notion to a lot of people who’ve watched the top 1% increase their wealth by billions over the last 8yrs.
Who said this:
No cheating!
you are right, we can’t count our chickens before they hatch
Indeed.
morning JW. I’d like to get to a Biden event. how’s Cunha doing? how do you think things are going? I’m concerned that on election day itself we’ll be outnumbered. it’s just taht the number of people turning out for EV is so large I can’t imagine our people comming out in such large numbers in 11/4. Hope the college kids get their butts out. we depend on them alot.
that woman who did that horrendous interview with Biden was on O’Reileuy last night and is supposed to eb on Fox and Friends this morning. their line is biden didn’t like tough questions so they puished thiw woman. He seemed very comfortable throughout the interview. he answereed every question. just let her know he thought alort of them were absurd.
One of the tribulations in my life is a dear sister, a born-again, fundamentalist who is currently enthralled with the New World Order and its connections with Zionism, Masonism, Anti-papism, GHWB, neoconism, and most other *isms. I do not hold conjecture in high regard. You may do as you wish.
Rudy?
Whatever happened to the 9/11 mantra?
I think that capitalism and free markets have proven that they are not sustainable. Imagine that capitalism doesn’t work!
The seeds of this were a long time germinating and only hastened by the greedy bush bots who took the reigns of government and had a feeding frenzy using the US treasury – tax payer’s money to privatize everything and make commerce a cash cow for capital.
Labor lost its footing and has been trampled nicely by capital. While they walked away with enormous wealth (essentially stolen), they killed the goose that laid the golden egg. Capitalism is on life support and and headed for the mortuary. It’s demise is inevitable and embedded in the “greed” essential to make it work. How many times have you heard, If you can’t make a profit… why get out of bed in the morning? Of course, workers, get out of bed and are EXPLOITED and used to create profit/wealth for capital – the owners of industry and essentially labor. So we have feudalism or slavery renamed – free market capitalism.
What’s next? First people have to accept that the capitalist model is not going to work unless there is plenty of regulation of industry, a strong and powerful labor sector and and economy driven by the NEEDS of people more that the need for WEALTH creation of capital and “share holders”.
We need a socially conscious and responsive economic system to the needs of the PEOPLE. This doesn’t mean that government will control and interfere with your lives, but it means that they will be watching out for your best interests – something very new, despite the past rhetoric.
Who will be the first to declare that free market capitalism is not serving the people of a democracy and of the world at large?
Capitalists had wet dreams when then idea of globalization allowed them to move to low cost unregulated labor markets offshore. They used it to crush labor, make profits soar and rise up the Chinese economy. Now the Chinese own all our debt – they lend us so we can pay for what they produce for us. We get their junk, sink into debt and they get control of all the dollars. We are locked in a mutual dependancy economically. They need us to buy their products to keep their economy going, but we are becoming the debtors. They have all our jobs, all our manufacturing and have left us without good work, but with a lifestyle that thrives on debt. We have lived well beyond our means and can no longer spend as we can’t afford to service our debt. China will redirect their economy inward and take care of her people and we will be left in debt with no industrial capacity.
Capitalists have played the last card in their hand. They lost. No one else to exploit!
Swim’s upstairs.
Who said it?
It was the Round Mound of Rebound, Charles Barkley. Looks like he’s planning to run for Governor of Alabama. He talked a lot of sense with Campbell Brown.
Thanks for the info.
brown was on TDS last night. She was personable enough. Seemed to enjoy the opportunity to say ‘bullshit’ on TV. Nothing special. It ws too nice. She didn’t give Stewart too much to work with although he did trash Tucker the Schmucker. Brown declined Stewart’s invitation to call him stupid, though./
well, of course i don’t know your sister – but my experience with fundamentalism was that it suffered from a lack of conjecture and not too much of it.
I fully agree with your statement with the addition of the term “Unrestrained or Unregulated Capitalism”.
It is the failure of economic understanding that labour is deprived wages, land is scoured of rent, and capital(savings) is(are) denied interest. What passes as capitalism, isn’t, it is the machinations of corporate management that has slipped the leash of restraint.
Once government acted to provide a level playing pitch between the economic actors, but that government was subverted by political deception. It is very important to illuminate those deceptions, and that is why I find conspiracy theorists a hinderance to understanding. YMMV here as well.
