”Drill, baby Drill” takes on a new meaning from Sen Toobz.
Good morning BT,
This was Obama in Denver w/100K +
http://co.barackobama.com/page…..loradogotv
Want some good news? Pollster.com now has Obama with 272 STRONG EV’s.
I’m really rooting for Al Franken. Want, badly, for him to win but he doesn’t seem to be riding the wave that so many others are.
How dumb is a burglar for breaking in Chuck’s humble adobe abode???
BT…
…twice?
MN voters are weird. Not in a bad way. just saying i think the reast of the country has trouble figuring what makes them tick or predicting what they’ll do.
Rice at the NFL? Noooo!
Next it’ll be Bush in MLB, they aren’t finished finishing us off? HelpHelp
Good morning BT and pups. Thanks for the link fest. Kinda sad that ol Chuck and the NRA are the only ones talkin ’bout taking guns away.
They really have nothing. Nothing. At. All.
Well, wait…. they do have “see the scary black man”. Sure doesn’t appear to be working out all that well for them.
Condi wants to come to Seattle? She does know we think that she is a war criminal maybe she could work in Idaho I don’t think California wants her back teaching college kids.
It would shock the students to see their teach leave class in handcuffs for a warcrimes trial.
Who is that boring lady who seems to be Bachman’s replacement? they’ve seemed to try to get somebody safe and she is boring as all shit. maybe ’cause she seems bored and doesn’t seem to be enjoying herself much. She’s from MN I think.
Glad to hear Obama’s in PA. Forget Florida. I don’t think he can win there with their machines. Just flip every single vote. So easy to program.
It would make sense for Condi to go to the Niners. It’s really hard to imagine someone who has spent the past eight years peddling lies going back into the academic world. She won’t fare well there. Her position at Stanford is tenured, but I suspect her working conditions there won’t be too good if the International Criminal Court starts looking her way.
Thats cause the GOP is afraid of Senator Franken on Meet the Press cleaning the clock of the GOP talking heads. That and he will have so much material for a new book in the Senate.
I have a nephew who’s a computer whiz. He gets independent contracts from all sorts of companies to develop programs. The most recent was to create something so that one could watch 9 football games simultaneously on their computers. Asked him if computers could ever be safe for voting….’no’.
Obama needs to fight for Florida in Court lets see the Supremes take this election away. Political Riots always make the market drop and there is nothing the GOP loves more than cash.
If the market drops to much foreigners might say sell at any price!
Off to prepare for work. See all later.
Then we get people to go every line of code in those voting machines. Either Obama fights for every vote or the GOP will think they can push him around.
Yep they could do with boots out there, she could whip them into shape in no time.
Later Solai:)
No machines in FL, it’s all paper ballot (more like heavy card stock) with optical scanners. As of 5am yesterday 1,016,000 had voted early, 51% Dems, 33% Rethugs, 16% other. Don’t be countin’ Obama out in FL.
She saves that stuff for Bush
What are the chances of getting early results out of Florida? If Florida goes our way before the West votes a lot of GOPers in red states will stay home Montana and North Dakota will fall our way easy.
I wonder who else Texas?
we’re fightin’ a good fight. Jim White had some distubimng news about the voter turnout of the college kids in gainesville but the EV turnout up there seemed great. it’s good here, too. SExactly so. It’s gonna be very tough, but don’t write off FL yet. There’s an anti-gay amendment on teh ballot so the Jesus Fereaks will be out. But most of them come out anyway so I don’t think it’s going to help McCain that much. Barack’s rally with Bill Clinton in Kissimmee is going to be at 11 pm. I figure he’ll be running late. Sounds like fun. Can’t make it though.
BT you need to start putting the date on your posts Digg always thinks your last post was the one I’m trying to submit that and it will make it easier for people to find a particular daily post.
How is the Cuban vote breaking for Obama in Florida?
Good observation. Hadn’t thought of that. I don’t think there will be much chance of early results from FL. it’s supposed to be very, very close and the I think polls close an hour later in the panhandle than the rest of the state because some of it is CST so they have to put off a call until 10 EST anyway.
Disagree. Early “projections”/results are not a good thing. People, regardless of party affiliation should have the right to vote in a free and fair election with every vote counted and with no knowledge of the results until every vote is in. Of course it is gratifying to see this 1,016,000 had voted early, 51% Dems, 33% Rethugs, 16% other. from Southern Dragon @ 21
My understanding is that no results can be posted until the polls have closed on the west coast expressly to avoid influencing voters. I figure midnight here before we have a good idea.
I like that closing argument piece in the Boston Globe. But if Obama really wants to close the argument, he would do well to listen to Bmaz’s post next door at EW’s place: Why Barack Obama Needs To Come To Arizona
the younger Cuban Americans are leaning Democratic, older ones pretty dedicated Republicans.
Yeah, but at least in my county, unless there is a recount where the race is less than a tenth of a percent apart, then there isn’t an audit with manual counting of those ballots until after the final result is certified. Even then, it’s only in one randomly chosen precinct. That makes me think that something buried deep in the counting software (and unknown to everyone in the system, including my county Supervisor of Elections, who I regard to be top-notch a fair) could flip a significant number of votes that would not be detected until it is too late. I’d really like to see the law require that a few precincts have a subset of ballots (say 5% of those cast in the precinct) manually counted within 48 hours of election day to serve as a gauge to make sure nothing funny has happened.
What kind of time is Senator Ted looking at? I hate that poor people get busted for stealing a few hundred and get more time than Senators who take millions.
The size of the damage should determine the length of time to be served. Teds got what a few hundred thousand in gifts? Grand Theft is ten years I think.
No more special Time for rich people!
You beat me to the punch.
She’s hoping that officials from the Hague won’t find her in the front office of an NFL team.
Might still effect AZ, Nevada, Idaho, New Mexico we do have down ticket races that will could go our way if the Bushies think all is lost.
And without Florida or Indiana game over.
maximum 5 years per each count, blathering CW says he doesn’t do any time
Mornin’ All
There will be election projections unless it is very close. Well Fox I’m sure will call Florida if they can.
we really don’t know the early voting results by candidate. I’d have to check. they think Obama might do better than democrats had in the past because the younger Cuban voters aren’t as conservative or hard-line as their parents or grandparents. But with any group of young people, i guess the thing is to get them out to vote.
http://www.orlandosentinel.com…..ory?page=2
I’m not worried about scanners. They’re just large versions of the scanners used in colleges with ScanTrons, those little sheets that look like the sheets you fill out for Lotto. The Rethug legislature did its best to make sure hand recounts don’t occur. There’s enough pressure that that legislation may get changed. I’m really not concerned with them stealin’ the vote here this time.
Good morning CBL!
Sorry Nomolos I should have read SouthernDragon first. SD is that rule just for Florida or for all the states? Will the media be doing their polling estimates?
You’re probably right, but I am just paranoid. Those guys stop at nothing.
No matter how much time he gets it’ll be spent in one of the fed’s country club prisons. The ones that have painted lines on the grounds instead of fences. I’d rather see them fine the livin’ shit out of him. Cost us a fortune in medical care of the old dude gets sick while in custody.
Thanks it should be interesting just think McCain is doing better with older voters and if we had National Healthcare there might have been enough older voters alive to swing the election to McCain.
I wonder Death rates here compared to France or Sweden could McCain have won?
EV; orange County FL thru 10/24:
Dem 31, 950
R 11, 220
other 9,639
African-America turnout already exceeds EV total for entire 2004 EV period.
My understanding is that the national media is not allowed to make any projections or show any results until after ALL polls have closed. They can play with the previous polling data (no exit polls) they already have all they want but that’s it.
Damm!
correction. polls close here at 7 and panhandle at 8 EST. If a large turnout last vote won’t be until later. but i think it’s going to be too close to call early.
Indiana could do it then.
we have to wait intil alaska closes at 1:00 am est??
i’m not counting indiana in our column. it might be CO that does it.
mornin’ a little cold on your ride in ?
All the more time to drink.
ABC will call a state (if it can) when voting has finished in the given state. I assume everyone else will do the same.
http://www.politico.com/news/s…..14660.html
true.
Morning, folks – it’s pouring with rain and 33 here in my part of Upstate NY. Has it started snowing up where you are, Solai?
http://www.fivethirtyeight.com/
I forgot all about Alaska Florida and Indiana should be done counting their votes before Alaska votes unless its real real close Sarah might lose her home state!
Huckabee might be the GOP frontrunner in four years.
Taxpayer will pay for his medcal care even if he’s not in jail. Retired senators must get medical benefits.
I don’t think so. If we had to wait for Hawaii (waving to CTuttle) we’d be Wednesday morning getting results.
I’m growing more doubtful about Franken’s chances. Barkley is major spoiler in this. But as noted by a wise friend, Barkley probably drawing from both sides. This race is a nail-biter.
Wait all the polls Hawaii ? State results are not announced after the final count? This will be real long night.
Here’s what Princeton has to say about the Senate makeup.
bonus schadenfreude for Floridian firedogs -
plus, there are scattered reports coming out of both districts of the usual disgusting Republic tricks –
Taddeo was catching up on Ros-Lehnten (Fl 21) but will have to look up current polling
it was sleeting in the north of the county here, drear’ and gloom
He still has to pay for his health care plan as a retiree.
32 here at the shop.
tehy’ll call each state if they can as soon as polls close in that state. i thought you were saying they had to wait until polls close in the whole country. sorry.
It’s 43 & rainy here. Yuk.
49ers employee: “Ms. Rice, there are some serious looking guys here to see you”
Condi (under desk): “Who this ‘Ms. Rice’ you’re looking for? There’s no former Secretaries of State that hosted treason discussions over hors’ devours in the White House here.”
I really want Taddeo to win, I dislike Ileana
Does he have to pay the full freight? Wow. That’s surprising. There’s always Medicare.
Damn it’s cold here. Isn’t it time for summer? I’ve had enough cold to remind me that I hate it.
That is what I’m saying. It will be 10 EST before any real results are shown on national teebee. They don’t seem to worry about Alaska or Hawaii.
If he uses Blue Cross/Blue Shielf, for example, his plan just continues and he has to pay for it like everybody else.
Blue Shielf – a shy elf who happens to be blue
I hope like heck he makes it.
We need someone who isn’t in it for money or fame and cuts through the crap.
Besides, how can you not like someone who considers Rush “A big fat idiot”?
He should be elected for his books alone.
Shmurfy
we wouldn’t even be discussing it if DCCC had done the right thing
Ms Taddeo was within 7 pts a week ago
same here. but we just had two glorious fall days.
Chuck Norris may be a badass dude but a dude with a Colt Model 1911 .45 calibre semi-automatic pistol 12 feet away is a lot badder.
what temp? it’s gorgeous here. has been since sunday.
gotcha.
39 and sunny just North of Atlanta.
GrandmaJ and Phoenix Woman to the Schadenfreude Courtesy Telephone please …
yep, the Scrib endorses Tinklemberg
Julia’s up
Bloomberg Endorses Dennis Shulman for Congress
Hopefully we’ll get some people into the DCCC and DSCC that don’t have their head up their ass and infected with incumbent protection disease.
Sunday was glorious but I had to be inside with a 4 hour meeting of SUNY-New Paltz Foundation Finance Committee. Lot’s of detailed stuff on the agenda for this mini-retreat (at my house), that couldn’t be done in a full formal meeting. But one of the most important was to talk down a new member who’s a hedge fund manager who thinks we ought to do some “alternative investments” with the endowment. Mission accomplished. He stopped being passive aggressive, addressed the issues straightforwardly (and interestingly, but not surprisingly, was light on details; his assignment was to get them to us), and seemed to take me seriously, instead of trying to pull rank & browbeat me. You can stand up to bullies. *g*
Wow. That’s cold for your area at this time of year!
McCain had to cancel an outdoor event today in Quakertown, PA, due to rain. Does that mean that God is rooting for Obama? Just wondering. Obama is still about 10 points ahead in PA but is not taking the state for granted.
As for Norris, I saw him on television being extremely rude to Arianna Huffington, not letting her finish what she was saying and asking combative questions that had nothing to do with the discussion. Asshat indeed!!
Works every time. The only reason they can be bullies is because nobody stands up to them. Stand up and they go meekly with their tail between their legs. There are exceptions to the rule, of course.
Yeah! I want my global warming!
Anyone who hasn’t listened to the entire of Biden’s controversial “Obama will be challenged” talk at the fundraiser would do well to check Attaturk’s link in the prior post. You’ll have to go to a second link, which is Fox, to hear it, but it’s worth it. It’s a little scary, but is a realistic plea for understanding among Democratic contributors to stand by Obama while he tries to dig us out of the hole Bush has dug. It’s a warning that it won’t be fun and popular, but hopefully can be done.
Me too. All summer all the time.
Also, I had the home court advantage. Didn’t consciously realize I did that until this morning when I had to write it down.
Always gotta be aware of where you are.
“A Sense of Where You Are”. Book i read when i was a little kid. About my idol growing up. Bill Bradley.
lol. somehow i have no doubt about your ability to stand up to anyone. well done.
BT,
Thanks for the swim this AM!
IRT the fundie mailer…It amazes me…First Al Gore was depicted in fundie mailers and stupid chain emails as the AntiChrist. And we are still here. Then John Kerry was, you guessed it, depicted as the AntiChrist, and we are still here. Now, Obama is depicted as the AntiChrist…Hmmm, and interesting pattern…Each one of these individuals is a…wait…I know the answer…oh that’s it…DEMOCRAT.
After eight years of the supposed “savior candidate” that Dobson annointed, two wars-economy in the tanker-committing torture-breaking the law-Bush, I do not think anyone should believe such lies. It is a sin to bare false witness. I have yet to see published written apologies to Gore, Kerry or Obama for defaming their character and stating they were the AntiChrist. No one has confessed their sins on this…
So they keep committing the sin…stirring fear…
The Bible clarifies that perfect love drives out fear (1Jn 4:18).
I take peace in knowing that God knows how to deal with unrepenting, repeated sin.
