The former Australian Prime Minister, John Howard (one of Bush’s toadys in the Coalition of the Willing) used it as a last resort against his opponent in the Australian General Election last November.

Did it work?

Not a chance.

Howard’s Government was creamed so badly, he lost his own seat. Sadly, he has now been reduced to appearances on The Wingnut Speakers Circuit, both here and in the US, where die-hard Neo-Cons can pay a mozza for a few words of wisdom from the Cold-Warriors of yester-year.

BTW, our new PM might be a nerdy looking guy, but at least he’s a social democrat with a shred or two of compassion about him. It sure makes for a nice change.

So, my fellow lefties over the water, despair not.

The Republicans are clearly on their last legs and much needed change is on the way.

we get money back into the ecomomy through building, we put people to work fixing the roads, bridges, tunnels, cleaning the air, developing alternative fuel and cooling the planet

giving our money to the people that have stolen it is NOT the solution

and this is in early voting where they will be more discreet, and most of us voting early are doing it BECAUSE we know their are gonna be voting problems

imagine what is going to happen in the general where people don’t pay attention and are embarrassed to say their vote flipped since they are gonna think it’s their fault.

Fed Chairman Bernanke and his colleagues may eventually have to drive the benchmark overnight rate close to zero to resuscitate the economy. The next installment comes Oct. 29 when, says Gramley, “the Fed is going to cut rates a half percentage point.”

That would reduce the central bank’s target for the federal funds rate, which commercial banks charge each other for overnight loans, to 1 percent. The official rate hasn’t been that low since 2004, and has never been lower since the Fed began trying to control it in the late 1980s. More cuts may follow if the economy doesn’t recover.

Thats it Ben lower the value of the Dollar to help banks and the stockmarket at the cost of making the Dollar worth even less money.
