You’ve got to give it to the Republicans.
They have restored traditional values.

Traditional values of the stock markets, that is:

Japanese stocks fall to a 26-year low as regional governments in Asia are unable to contain anxiety; lower opening expected on Wall Street.

Obama plans to hold his election night celebration at Hutchinson Field, at the southern end of Grant Park in Chicago.

http://www.cbsnews.com/blogs/2…..6591.shtml

Whats parking like by Grant Park? How many people can it hold? How many people can Solder Field hold?
Forget presumption I hope Obama is picking the bigger space.
Besides is Sarah saying that McCain is not renting out space for a victory party?
Everybody winner and loser has rented out space for a party during a Presidential Run or is that one of the facts that Sarah is not up to speed on?

Good Morning, Firepups!

It’s clear and cool this morning in central Jersey. Keep pluggin’, folks. Work to get more and better Democrats in Congress and in state and local government. And if you can’t give time, give money! We’re close to making some change for the better. And working on this helps me from fretting about the markets!

I’ve got herb biscuits, hot out of the oven, and plenty of Kona coffee and water for tea drinkers. Help yourselves.

Work for peace, every day.

“Those clothes, they are not my property. Just like the lighting and the staging and everything else that the RNC purchased, I’m not taking them with me. I am back to wearing my own clothes from my favorite consignment shop in Anchorage, Alaska.

http://politicalticker.blogs.c…..e-story-2/

Sarah the GOP can’t return the clothes after you wear them 3 or 4 times the GOP will not get their cash back.
However if you insist where do you plan to donate the clothes Goodwill could have an auction and raise some funds.
But will you or the GOP claim the tax break for charity?
If you claim it then the clothes were yours.

But, but…Sarah claims that most of the clothes are still in the belly of her campaign plane with the tags still on them…I mean, if she hasn’t worn them and they still have the tags, then she could return them(I think – don’t know NM or SFA return policies)? Of course, it does raise the question of sort of ‘over the top – head in the trough – hoggishness’ — I mean, if they bought her so much stuff that she can’t possibly wear it all(let’s see now, if she changes clothes three times a day for the next week – would she be able to wear the rest of them all once?), why did they do it? Who made the decisions of “I’ll take one of those and one of those and oh yeah, that suit over there..I’ll take that, too. And you know that jacket I liked? Well, I’ll have that in black, blue, red and green…”

Charlie Gibson, said, ‘Why would you want to raise capital gains taxes and — when you know that that could decrease revenue?

“

http://voices.washingtonpost.c……html#more

Because thats What FDR did to get us out of the Great Depression Charlie are are you John and Sarah still not up to speed on economics?
We need experts or Newspeople who know the issues to interview the candidates not people who get their information from GOP talking points.

During the war he pushed for even higher income tax rates for individuals (reaching a marginal tax rate of 91%) and corporations and a cap on high salaries for executives.
In order to fund the war, Congress broadened the base so that almost every employee paid federal income taxes, and introduced withholding taxes in 1943.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Franklin_D._Roosevelt

My bold FDR raised taxes so he could afford to fight and win WW2 fighting wars on the cheap like Bush does is a sure way to defeat.
Notice that the economy got better much better. I hope Obama does the same with taxes but ends Bush’s war.

Putin won’t like that but I think Putin knows that Bush wants a war so Putin hopefully won’t give it to him just to spite him.

Don’t forget Sarah’s kids and even her not yet Son in Law got clothes. Still just how many clothes can you buy with that much cash at those stores? Could Sarah be right about if the tag is still on you can return clothes you wore?
I assume if she never wore them she can get the money back.

Sure for US:) but the top 5% are going to have to pay more. McCain will just cut taxes let the Debt grow and let the American Dollar drop even lower in value.
I think Red States need to insist that economics is taught in highschool.
Freshmen year so even Sarah’s kids can learn it.

why would lower oil prices cause the markets to fall?

i’d think they are both symptoms of the same problem – bursting bubbles (housing, commodities) amplified by leverage and “creative” financial products that were traded primarily OTC and unregulated and opaque. and now we’re seeing massive deleveraging because, like a school of fish, we’ve done a 180 on risk tolerance. people want to be in cash.

but i really don’t know how these things work and am only recently trying to understand.

Good Morning Blue Texan and Firedogs,

in case you missed it yesterday Bachman’s hometown paper endorses opponent

The bottom line is 6th District residents need a House member who reflects moderate positions and when standing in the spotlight, provides clarity and credibility. In her two years in office, Bachmann’s provided little of either. Tinklenberg deserves his chance. More importantly, voters simply deserve better.

Everyone who bet on higher oil prices with leverage lost money. Oil countries that used future oil revenue as collateral for loans. Lower oil prices would cause the markets in oil producing nations to fall.
Russia has stopped their stock market from trading a few times I heard and the Middle East is having some trouble now too.
But for us lower oil prices are a good thing long term.

Good Catch maybe the lesson of this election will be the GOP has to hide their Crazies in elections with high voter turnout because the voters are paying attention.
The GOP will of course have counter spin but if we can knock out a few more Crazies this election it will be hard to deny.
Rick Santorum lost last election the trend of GOP crazies loosing started then I think.

As you accurately point out, it has far more to do with de-leveraging, particularly of hedge funds.

I’m on it JPL9 I just left this on the Discussion section of Amazon’s stock blog I voiced my concern in ways that stockpeople understand Money.
Stock pages do not like bad news about their companies.
Please feel free to go there and add anything you want the more comments the more likely we are to scare Amazon.

a listing on Amazon.com, one of the largest and most successful online merchandisers in the world, seemed to come down even beyond the Republicans’ side — for a while anyway. With Halloween just days away, they’re making a bundle off a $49.95 Barack Obama mask.

Which was displayed on the “terrorist costume” page.

You read that right!

(UPDATE: Amazon’s listing seems to have caught itself and deleted the Obama mask from the terrorist page. However, before that happened, The Ticket captured a photo. See below.)

http://latimesblogs.latimes.co…..orist.html

Way to build the Corporate good will with the next President. What do you want to bet internet transactions get taxed now! Thanks Amazon
