You don’t go into an election with the October Surprise you would want to have, but with the October Surprise you actually have. Yes, they would rather goad Iran into retaliating against us in time to terrorize the electorate into voting Republican, but that would have required a large, deliberate military effort, and that seems to have been blocked by the generals. But if they have to settle for a quickie helicopter raid into Syria — well, you just have to accept the provocation you can get and hope it causes the jackpot retaliation you want.

And if that’s the case, in the absence of any truly justifiable operational specifics (ha!) doesn’t this make this a well-poisoning operation?

I am, indeed, older.

As to being powerful, I’ve only my words and whatever affect I might have upon those with whom I converse.

With regard to being ‘established’, I think you will discover that most of us chose to ‘invest’ in people and ideas rather than building massive portfolios …

However, I must tell you, that concerned as I am, I am convinced we are closer than ever we have been in my lifetime to seeing the beginnings of the world we all seek and deserve …

Never have so many ‘understood’ so much, however painful the ‘education’ has been.

What we must find now is the imagination to perceive the world we would have, put such perception into words and ideas which will touch the hearts and souls of our fellow humans and then, move with courage and conviction.

Though I am far from sanquine, I am generally optimistic.

Just visiting FDL convinces me that some of the finest minds and sensibilities of tjhis nation share my hopes and dreams.

We are making progress, but as I’ve said before on these threads, we are at the place in our ‘journey’ that the Civil Rights Movement found itself in about 1959.
