Michelle Obama gave the Democratic radio address this morning, and it was wonderfully done.
You can listen to the full radio address here. Michelle asks all of you to please go out and vote. If your state has early voting, she asks you to think about going to vote today. You can find information about early voting locations here. If there are problems voting, please contact Election Protection at 1-866-OUR-VOTE.
Don’t be the one vote missing come November 4th! Please vote!
Here’s the full text of her radio address:
Good morning. I’m Michelle Obama.
Nine days from now, millions of folks across this great country will head into the voting booth and cast their ballot for the next President of the United States.
When I do, I’ll of course be thinking about my husband, Barack.
But I’ll also be thinking about my dad. He was my rock. He was a blue-collar city worker who never missed a shift in hopes that he could give my brother and me a better life.
He was also a precinct captain who believed that the right to vote was one of the most precious gifts of our democracy. Some of my earliest memories are of tagging along with him as we’d walk door to door and help folks register to vote. We’d sit in neighbors’ kitchens for hours and listen to their opinions, their concerns, and the dreams they had for their children.
And before we left those kitchens, my father would make sure that everyone could get to the voting booth on Election Day – because he knew that a single vote could help make their dreams a reality.
That’s the opportunity you have in just nine days. November 4th is our chance to begin building a better future for our families, our communities, and this country that we love.
Each of us has our own reason for voting.
I’m a wife who believes with all my heart that my husband will be an extraordinary president.
I’m a Mom whose girls are the center of my world – they are the first thing I think about when I wake up in the morning, and the last thing I think about when I go to bed at night. Their future, and all our children’s future, is my stake in this election.
And that’s why, for me, the issues the heart of this election aren’t just political. They’re personal.
I know they are for you, too.
Maybe you’re a student who wonders if you’ll be able to pay off your loans or find a good job after you graduate.
Maybe you’re a small business owner unsure of whether you can pay your employees next month.
Maybe you’re a mother who puts off taking your child to the doctor because you can’t afford the co-pay.
So we all have a choice to make. And when you look at the issues, and the candidates, and their plans for our future – the choice is clear.
There’s only one candidate in this race who can bring about the change we need, restore our economy, and rebuild our middle class.
That candidate is Barack Obama.
His leadership and his policies are the change we need in the White House. But first, we’ve got to send him there.
That’s why your vote is so important. Because if you don’t vote, you are saying that you’re fine with the way things are. You cast an equally powerful ballot for four more years that look just like the last eight.
In 2004, 16 million Americans who could have voted didn’t. Yet, the election was decided by just 59,000 votes in Ohio.
This time, we can’t wake up November 5th only to discover we fell just short and didn’t elect Barack Obama and Joe Biden. We can’t look back and think about what might have been.
So visit your neighbors. Listen to their concerns. Tell them what’s at stake. Then take them with you to vote.
In most states, you can vote early and avoid long lines on Election Day. To find the early vote location most convenient for you, go to VoteForChange.com, and then go vote today.
If you do, we will win this election. We’ll put Barack Obama in the White House. And we will change this country and fulfill the hopes of all those like my father, who work so hard to give their children a better future and guarantee that the American Dream endures.
I’m Michelle Obama. Thank you for listening, and I hope you and your families have a great weekend.
(Loved this picture of Barack Obama and his younger daughter. Have been trying to find a place to use this one for a while…enjoy.)

Christy! Your up so early!
I think it was a very effective speech, and well given.
I guess I’m confused about the process of the Democratic radio address. When did she give it? Has it already aired on the radio?
CHS is so excited, can’t slepp!
Dang Redd, I know it was a big deal to beat Auburn but you need to get some sleep!
So THAT’s why Citizen Hardin Smith is slumin’ with us late niters, huh…how jacked up would she get if the Mountaineers were ta show up on January 1 again??!!

Mornin all, I’ve got an early morning slot at the call center this morning and tomorrow morning I have to get downtown fairly early to Obama.
As a vet of that particularly nasty encounter in SE Asia and a survivor of the last 40 years of fascist politics that resulted from that war, I would like you to listen carefully: move into the 21st Century and leave the old faggot hassles behind.
I need coffee. brb
Citizen Rvaen:
Ya know Bro…sometimes I think that the principals and the hall monitors in this reform institution, spin a thread out ta keep the convesation respectable.
mornin’ all.
where the hell am I?
If you don’t know I can’t help you.
I guess it a process!
Steve Earle CD in – one cuppa coffee down – I’m startin’ to recognize the place…
It would be a lot easier to move into the 21st Cent in this election if one candidate weren’t a POW, and that alot of mud has been thrown on Obama for serving on a board with a Weatherman.
Imagine 30 years on from today. And the tumult around Iraq. If it’s even over then.
oopps…
The point being that in a few ways, this election is the refighting of that era.
Greg Palast and Bobby Kennedy,Jr.’s Steal Back Your Vote is available online. They ask that you donate $1 or $1million. If you can’t afford to donate, it is free to download the comic book & the Rolling Stone article.
On the site, you can click on canivote to see if you are registered to vote. A great idea when the Republicans have been busy purging voters.

The best article that I have read that gives the truth of the background of Sarah’s vetting, that starting in the beginning of 2007. It does appear that many Republicans did not know and were surprised by her nomination, but powerful people were working behind the scenes.
The first blogger, Adam Brickley, is quoted in this article. He said that his family used to be Evangelical Christians, but now uses Messianic Judaism as his religious label .He says, “the hand of God played a role in choosing Palin”.
What we seem to have here is one “end timer” helping to get another one nominated as VP.

I saw a clip of Michelle speaking yesterday at Ohio(?) and was really impressed… as I am whenever I have heard her… she projects herself well as being purely bloody honest and truly an intelligent person. I think we will all be damn grateful when she is first woman, she will charm the heck out of all that meet her. Barrack is truly blessed to have her at his side.
Excellent article, frightening that these idiots have any influence whatsoever though.
Citizen daemon:
Brother Obama understands what is at stake and knows that not only the Vietnam War and resulting “culture war” but our 148 year Civil War will be put back into the graves of history where they belong not by fighting with the ghosts of twisted cultural memory but by marchin on the pollin places and pullin down the levers of power. So don’t wrestle with smoke and mirrors, and don’t argue with the dead…jest go vote dammit!!
They just played the whole speech on C-span
James Carville and pollster Stan Greenberg, talking to reporters at a breakfast hosted by The Christian Science Monitor, said Republicans are poised to not just lose an election, but lose a generation.

Yes..it is. And so many of the worst of the crazies have been around for 30 years. Time to throw them out of power.
still dig’n this one:

She’s right that we can’t wake up November 5th, just falling short. McCain/Palin is not an option.
Yes and I think that there are a lot of “churches” that need to be put on the tax roles.
De-nile isn’t just a river in Egypt…
Joe Lieberman says that the polls are so extreme that he doesn’t believe them!
http://thehill.com/campaign-20…..217;t-beli
eve-them-2008-10-24.html
As you probably all have seen by now, Lieberman doesn’t think Sarah’s ready on day one. ‘thank God she’s not going to have to be president from day one. McCain’s going to be alive and well.’
What I found interesting though, are some of his other comments..
“Speaking of Obama directly, Lieberman said he might vote for him as president someday in the future, but specified the Democrat is ‘less prepared’ than McCain. He later says if McCain loses, he’ll “do everything I can to be bringing people together across party lines to support the new president so he can succeed. What’s at stake for our country is just too serious.”

you need to watch the tube on my diary, quite illuminating indeed

I give up! The article is at The Hill…
Good Luck today!
Morning Christy. Everybody. For Fl people who experience trouble or if you know someone who does you can try 1-877-2FLOBAMA. Don’t mean to put too many numbers out there.
rove made believe he didn’t believe the polls against bush last election, then he made believe bush would “pull it out in the end” and he even knew which precincts would turn the election
those precincts did indeed turn the election, funny, the tally does not match the exit polling in those precincts
mccain is not out of it unless we overcome every precinct they have fixed
and they DO have precincts fixed, even in early voting machines are flipping obama votes to mccain votes
this is real
And from which party is he going to reach across the aisle? I think he really has a dream that McCain wins…then dies…and then President Palin will make him VP.
I think, actually, that in that case scenario..Palin would pick Elisabeth Hasselbeck from The View!
Lieberman really is in denial. I think that Christie should be ready with one of her rapid response letters when Obama wins…Do you believe it now, Joe? You’re fired!
Yo, Christy! Are you pulling up a chair a bit early today?
Michelle rocks. A number of her speeches are on Youtube. They should be featured on Obama’s website, but they’re not. She’s great!
I’m not usually online at this hour, but I can’t sleep. too excited about a new apartment we want that we saw today.
Bob in HI
I heard that on Democracy Now yesterday as well. They did not say if it was just one make of machine or whether all makes were flipping. Do we know?
An excellent piece of commentary from Joe Galloway of McClatchy:
http://www.mcclatchydc.com/251/story/54745.html
Joe the crazy one. I laughed when I read that, even Harry Reid is not that magnaminous.
Gosh..Rove just must be psychic? Please..not this time. Last time, the internet wasn’t spreading the truth the way it has been this time.
People are going to be watching at poll booths all over the country. It will be difficult for the election to be stolen this time. They are going to try, but the best hope for the whole world is that they fail this time.
They are wanting this AM to be an election day dry run and I am not sure why I am doing that since I am supposed to be a poll watcher on election day, We’ll figure it out I guess.
Yes..it is true…but..Karma strikes! Go over to BradBlog..the votes are now flipping from Republican to Democrat as well!!!

The MSM is already trying to convince us that the race is close or tied despite all the bloody evidence disproving that. For one the polls are not counting young people, particularly those on cell phones. This household is usually inundated with pollsters, as we are in NH and have voted in every election, but this year we have had just two calls. I have no idea why that would be but I am assuming that they are targeting less confirmed Democrats.
Well that is equally as bad. We have a less honest voting system than Zimbabwe or Kenya for chrissake
An article from Peter Daou at Huffington Post on Oct. 21.
He talks about the start, progress, and future of political blogs.

Good morning, pups. Gail Collins is off today, and Mr. Herbert writes about “Crises on Many Fronts.” He says the markets are in turmoil. The economy is hurting. And there are other serious problems as well. The poor are being clobbered by all of them.

The coffee, tea and hot chocolate are ready, and I’ve got waffles with Vermont maple syrup or spiced peaches this morning. The rain we had all day yesterday (yay!) has passed so I may be able to get some work done in the garden cleaning up over the weekend, in between about a billion loads of laundry. Have a great day.
go to the brad blog for full details, he has been on this since day one
And if this crap was happening in Russia, the MSM would be covering it 24/7.
That is why I had to laugh when I read that voting machines are flipping from R to D. Nothing would help more to get rid of those machines than for the Republicans to realize that they have lost control of them.
I wonder what is going on? Is some programmer over riding the virus that is in the machine? Is it a revolt of the machines? Are they tired of being forced to be corrupt?
Now…on the serious side of this issue. I did not bookmark the article, but somewhere in Europe I read that there is a contest this time…that foreign web hackers are having a contest to control the machines and their votes. I can’t even do links right, so this is beyond my comprehension. But, nowhere is not hackable. China was in the Pentagon snooping around not too long ago. With all the bizarre things that do go on, it would not be impossible to believe that something like this is going to happen.
Might be a good thing..the world wants Obama, not McCain.
For FireFox users: when videos stop playing, don’t blame your computer. There is an issue with the Flash Player inside of Fox..Adobe and Mozilla are working on the problem…
Completely OT, but it would appear that the NYT was covering the 4th Annual Pirate Festival at Tybee Island here. Aargh!
Yeah, it’s in FF 3, not FF 2. I first noticed it at CTuttle’s place but when vids played on IE I knew it was the browser. I didn’t figure it would be the machine with a new box running Vista.
back 2 basics
In tomorrows print edition the St Petersburg Times is endorsing Obama. Coulda knocked me over with a feather.
is that a concervative paper?
Family fun still exists?
There is hope for the world! What a fun time for kids..and the adults who watch their faces.
For the most part but not nearly as partisan as the Tampa Tribune.
I was thrilled to read about the problem because I was worried that my computer was dying.
Whenever I see something of this nature I switch to IE or Safari and see if the same thing happens there. If not I know it’s the browser.
Marion, What have you heard about Saxby and his ties to Imperial Sugar and will it gain traction before election day? Unless Obama leaves his get out the vote crew in place, I don’t see Martin winning a runoff.
This is very interesting. What does Seymour Hersh know that he will likely ’spill’ after the election. From the nzherald….
Hersh is in his 70’s, he can’t keep going forever. Or can he?
“I have information; I have people who trust me. What else am I going to do? I love golf and tennis and if I was good enough, I’d be professional. Why shouldn’t I be energetic? Our whole country is at stake. We have never had a situation like this. These men have completely ruined America”.
Simple idea…thanks for the suggestion.
Tybee Island also has the Beach Bum Parade every year, where the object of the exercise is to soak and be soaked by the people on the floats. Lots of fun! Tybee’s a great place.
Good Morning Pups. I’m up early to open up our local Habitat ReStore.
Just had to go find out where Tybee Island is…Warm weather for these fun days..given where you are. Now I understand your surprise at the Times going down there.
This article was in the Savannah Daily Disappointment on Thursday, and there have been several others prior. The issue Martin is hammering Saxby over is the economy, so I don’t know how much effect the Imperial Sugar ties will have. Were it to come down to a runoff I can’t imagine the Obama people not moving heaven and earth in a GOTV effort, and possibly (hopefully) advertising dollars too.
Where can I go to see a list of all the major newspaper endorsements? Anybody know who the Dallas Morning News has endorsed?
Dallas Morning News editorial supporting McCain.
You ain’t gonna like it.
Figures. Even though Dallas County itself has gone Democrat. I’ll read it when I get back. See ya later.
I owes ya a drink. Now off to do battle with the St Petersburg PD and City Council.
Courage!
Christy is upstairs with Pull Up a Chair…
Are you there?
Can’t wait to see them as the new First Family.
