Part 6 has a kind of scary moment, Lumpkin mentions that when Junior was in the 8th grade, Lumpkin was down in South and Central America doing counterinsurgency operations. Considering some of the fucked up shit America’s been involved with south of the border, I’m not all that sure it’s a good thing, but it gave me visions of him putting a horse’s head in some chairman’s bed to make them more cooperative.

Though it would be interesting to see how he’d be treated in D.C. a junior congressman, but one who not only knows where the bodies are buried, but probably buried some himself.

I agree that if she is really mentally ill, she deserves help and a pass on her behavior. However, there are a lot a people out there who just think that anything goes in order to “win”, that behaviour may seem “mentally challenged” to decent people, but maybe it is just rotten.

We lost power for a couple of weeks in a couple of feet of snow with highs about 3 degrees the entire time, twenty years ago. It’s the worst case winter scenario which I try to be more than semi prepared for each year.

Lumpkin talked more about out of control spending than the tax proposals, which seemed like kind of a dodge to me. The Libertarian did have a great idea when it came to taxes. Allow people to make the same deductions that corporations do. Junior of course had a “McCain is teh AWESOMEST!” response. And got booed for calling Obama’s tax plan socialism.

I only hope it is more than for convenience…..

Then again, something like 75% of the people who voted for him thought they were voting for his dad. Have to keep in mind that this is a district where Duncan Hunter, the guy who held this press conference. And that wasn’t just any press conference, it was a press conference with props.

One of the things that came up on Bill Moyers’ Journal is how most of that 700 Billion Dollars seems to be going to the same bankers that got us into this mess. In other words, its looking a lot like a “save Bankers from their own folly” Bill, and hope that trickles down to us.

Another interesting piece is that the present crisis, and the confessions of Alan Greenspan himself. IIRC, Moyers noted that Greenspan was a disciple of Ayn Rand, and that what we are seeing is a joint repudiation of not only Republican governing philosophy, but also the guiding philosophy of previously sacrosanct Greenspan. In other words, the entire theoretical foundations of Republican economic theory has been discredited.

I hope he’s right!
