Absolutely worth reading. It was a pleasure to read a reality-based assessment of Bush/McCain after suffering through the Washington Post’s mealy-mouthed endorsement of Obama.

I’ve been flipping channels this morning and this is what I discovered. Joe sounds elitist when he preaching about elitism; GMA had an interview with Barack and when he spoke about his grandmother, I got teary eyed; and Today Show had Hoover’s great granddaughter on praising McCain and explaining how Hoover didn’t cause the Great Depression.
Obama did mention that because of all the cards, emails and flowers his grandmother received that she is finally getting the recognition that she deserves.

I cringed too at the time. But as i think about it I wonder. Do they feel confident enougjh to attack McCain’s alleged/purported/perceived strength? Do they think they suceeded as painting McCain as erratic because of the way he handled the economy and can extend that to a general impression of erratic, period. Other side, has Obama esatblished himself as the steadier of the two in general and therefore the guy you want to go to in a crisis-domestic or foreign? Or was Joe just saying stupid shit as he is want to do? i think the latter, but they can run with it on all of the other grounds I asked about, i.e. that Obama is just plain steadier and more reliable. Saw what i think is a follow up yesterday with Biden saying that McCain is “loose.” I’ll bet Obama was pissed when he first heard about Joe’s remarks but i think they should embrace them rather than ruun from them. Use it as an opportunity tyo paint McCain as the doddering old fart that he has so often appeared to be and to remind people that an incompetent fool would be next in line.
Bottom line? it’s not going to matter. Although it does give them something else to talk about when I was hopeful they would keep talking about Ayers and that stuff because it was going nowhere.

I don’t know if it will be effective. I agree it was dumb, using the fear card against oneself. I try to view these things without bias but that’s not easy. I personally think Biden is correct. Putin, especially, will use his new-found muscle (thanks to Bush) to test Obama. So, I think Biden was pointing out how the world works rather than thinking like a candidate. I’m just hoping that everyone realizes that the last person you want facing a crisis is John McCain.
One more thing. I think we’re so shell-shocked by the economy that it trumps all else.

If he was still on the bed, I rather doubt he had been tortured. He broke both arms and a leg from the ejection force. So, I think his problem is that he told them right away who he was so that he wouldn’t be tortured. I suspect that maybe some POWs were left behind in his prison and that he knew and/or had some reason not to say anything. A reason like…they knew that he was a rat right from the start to gain favor with the Vietnamese. And he doesn’t want any records or live POWs found over there…either of which could tell the truth…records or men…

With all of Cindy’s millions at his disposal, he did nothing for this man and his family. He met Mai Van On once in Hanoi in 1996. He gave him a small Senate memento. That is all he ever gave him. How sick is that? Again, it has to be a case of CYA. The man contradicted the torture that McCain says he suffered right from the start of his imprisonment. He did not even mention this man,that saved his life, in his autobiography!

We must remember that John Boy is maintaining the family tradition of CYA and cover up at all costs. It was his father, Admiral John S. McCain that stonewalled the investigation of the Israel attack on the USS Liberty..a War Crime. If his father had not refused to sign the US Navy Court of Inquiry Report, the sailors would have got justice and the US would not be under the influence of Israel as it is today.
