Palin Went to See Ivana Trump at Costco, Saying Alaska was So Desperate for “Any Semblance of Glamour and Culture“. “Sarah Palin, a commercial fisherman from Wasilla, told her husband on Tuesday she was driving to Anchorage to shop at Costco. Instead, she headed straight for Ivana. And there, at J.C. Penney’s cosmetic department, was Ivana, the former Mrs. Donald Trump, sitting at a table next to a photograph of herself. She wore a light-colored pantsuit and pink fingernail polish. Her blonde hair was coiffed in a bouffant French twist. ‘We want to see Ivana,’ said Palin, who admittedly smells like salmon for a large part of the summer, ‘because we are so desperate in Alaska for any semblance of glamour and culture.’” [Anchorage Daily News (Alaska), 4/3/96]

Jane, I’m with you on this.
I’ve been working as a stylist for over 20 years.
My budgets, which are getting tighter and tighter, are averaging about $2500 per commercial. Let’s hear it for the economy!
That’s to dress an average of 5-6 people. And there’s normally a business woman character every 4 to 5 jobs. That business woman can be done for $300-$500. And look good. Shoes, suit, blouse and all. I was doing the math. I could dress over 300 people for the price Palin paid for that Beverly Hills romp. Pathetic.

Even divided equally between all the Palins, that’s still a lot of dough. And knowing Sarah Barracuda and the fact that she’s the candidate, the lion’s share would naturally go to her.

Knowing the GOP, we can guess what type of charity the clothes will go to after the campaign: Alaska for Better Dressed Governors.

The Republican National Committee has spent more than $150,000 to clothe and accessorize vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin and her family since her surprise pick by John McCain in late August.

 $49,425.74 spent at Saks Fifth Avenue in St. Louis and New York combined in early September.

 $75,062.63 spent at Nieman Marcus in Minneapolis in early September.

 $4,714.49 spent on hair and makeup through September, after reporting no such expenses in August.
