I would venture my OWN guess (as I tend to agree though I suspect the reason would differ): a recent study and comment (by a Harvard researcher?) indicated that part of the problem with Wall Street is the men (this was a male researcher). It is all part of the competition/testosterone thing. All the men in the pit together feed off each other, causing wider ranging extremes in stock market numbers and that it looked to be all the men self-reinforcing and feeding off each other. Women were largely immune to the manliness factor. Thus, he indicated that the market might be better off being run (and largely operated) by women, who were less likely to get into the manly man/testosterone feeding frenzies that a large group of guys get caught up in.

I suspect that though the Senate is generally more staid and, to appearances, less driven to testosterone madness (the House is iffy in this regard as far as I’m concerned) than Wall Street, women would tend to be better in general in these positions. There would certainly be less of a “need” to appear manly man to voters who simply wouldn’t be expecting a woman to be all manly man to begin with. No need to beat war drums or call for war all over the place to enhance one’s manly man toughguy resume…and if you get more younger women in there, they are certainly less likely to be all ga-ga for taking away reproductive rights for everyone (mainly women).

I somehow don’t think that this was what Shumer was thinking though. He was probably just kissing up.
