McCain can’t win on the economy so his only chance to beat Obama is to go negative? What a lack of imagination! It never occurred to McCain to beat Obama on ideas?
Sure Bush has discredited all the current GOP’s ideas for a generation but somewhere out there are the new GOP ideas that they will try out when Obama runs for reelection.
McCain just isn’t Mavericky enough to give them a try, because its better in the GOP conservative/play it safe/conform mind to play it safe with a hand that you know is a loser rather than draw another card.

You guys should hear the ads against Bill Sali’s (R-Idaho 1st Dist?) opponent. The RNCC is advertising his opponent, Minnick (D, but actually is an R) would cut Social Security and Medicare, and raise the eligibility age for receiving SS benefits, and a bunch of other things Rs constantly fight to do. Based on the ad, I would have thought Sali was a Democrat. Even Idaho Republicans think he is a real nutjob. He would actually make McCain look stable. Wonder if Sali will be in McCain’s cabinet, since he would add to the adventure in bad government.

John and Bush really should be more worried about the legacy thing as they both close out their political careers.

I read the link and didn’t see where it said he shoved a 92 year old on the senate floor (presumably his incident with Byrd, but I read all the other incidents too). I’m not saying he didn’t do this, but we have to be careful about such accusations. I haven’t heard how the polling is going, but it has to be close if the RNCC is putting up ads in Idaho, especially when they aren’t that flush with money. I do know the Minnick ads have been pretty effective. One shows Sali and a big flock of sheep. Another points out he voted repeatedly against veterans. A prominent ad shows a number of normal, respectable Republicans (no snickering) explaining why they will vote for Minnick and won’t vote of Sali. In the last ad, they mention Sali’s problem managing his personal money.

Watching the Idaho campaign ads is quite entertaining. Risch (R) is talking about going to D.C. and as a former prosecuting attorney planning on kicking butt about the financial industry. Like Republicans weren’t in in charge and in favor of deregulation.

I only hope my governor makes it. Rossi has had despicable ads, but most folks don’t know they are a pack of lies. Gregoire is not a good campaigner and it shows. Maybe if Obama turns out a ton of folks, she’ll stay in.
