Reaching out and touching the nation’s youth (no, not that way you pervert) …pictures from the weekend’s campaign trail, top to bottom (no, still not that way you pervert and/or Florida Congressman):
Obama, feel the inspiration.
Meanwhile…
McCain, feel the desire to get back to Grand Theft Auto IV, or as McCain calls it, "the Pong". And yes son, that dude is really old, frightening and hard to look at.
In other, overnight news — George Will, Pat Buchanan and Rush Limbaugh say Powell endorsed Obama because of race — but they just said that because they are white gigantic jackasses.

Good Morning, Firepups!
It’s clear and frosty this morning in central Jersey. Mr. NJP and I brought the herb plants into their winter home yesterday afternoon, our enclosed but unheated porch, after checking the forecast.
I’ve been obsessively checking the maps at Five Thirty Eight and Open Left, and just when I was afraid that the media would focus on a tightening race, the Obama team rolls out another endorsement and the biggest campaign donation month evah! I can’t remember a campaign as focused and disciplined as Obama’s. It is truly a wonder to behold, and a welcome change for Democrats.
Got to get going. There’s plenty of coffee and hot water for tea, and the biscuits are hot out of the oven. Help yourselves.
Work for peace, every day.
Some of McCain’s Black Relatives Support Obama.

Good Morning! Powell’s press conference after MTP was powerful. Not only did he address the tone of the McCain campaign but he also addressed the taxation issue.
“Yes we can” or “si se puede” — to Michele Bachmann and the Republicans, both kids are un-American.
Good morning, pups. If it’s Monday we must gird our loins for Kristol. We also have Cohen and Krugman today. That disgusting insult to humanity Billy “Wrong Way” Kristol says “Here the People Rule.” He has a question: Are we really seeing a vulgarization in our politics? Politics in a democracy are always “vulgar” since democracy is rule by the “vulgus,” the common people, the crowd. What can you say about this tripe? He calls Peggy Noonan “silver penned,” and says Joe the Not Really a Tax-Paying Plumber is a sensible man. Oh — and he still thinks Caribou Barbie is HAWT! Moron. Mr. Cohen cries “Vive la Dépression!” He says with plumbers figuring in French and American votes, getting back to basics is in vogue. A relief from sophistication is overdue. It’s time to look forward to the Depression. Mr. Krugman talks about “The Real Plumbers of Ohio,” and says John McCain’s strategy, in this final stretch, is based on the belief that Republicans can still pursue plutocratic policies while claiming to be the party of regular guys.

The coffee, tea and hot chocolate are ready, and the biscuits are out of the oven, sitting next to njprogressive’s. I’ve also got some wonderful tupelo honey from the Savannah Bee Company. Have a great day.
BAGHDAD, Iraq (CNN) — U.S. troops or contractors who commit “major and premeditated murders” in Iraq while off-duty and outside U.S. facilities would fall under Iraqi jurisdiction, according to a copy of a draft U.S.-Iraq agreement obtained by CNN.
Looks like Ms. Bachman (Turner Overdrive) has become the poster child for LYING on behalf of the Republican Party:

Also, if ever there were a video that best sums up the importance of a woman’s right to choose, this one is IT!
http://crooksandliars.com/blue…..pro-family
Talk about a perfect example to refute the Republican position on Rowe v. Wade! Let anyone step forward to tell this woman she didn’t have the right to make this choice.
I can’t see that treaty getting past the Iraqi Parliament. From the nooz it looks like the coalition that supported it is always falling apart.
Yep! They’re gigantic jackasses, Attaturk!
Hell, some of McCain’s *white* relatives support Obama. It is a statistical certainty.
I’ll go one better and suggest that the main reason anyone cares who Colin Powell endorses is because he is black.
He may have been a distinguished General, but as Secretary of State, not so much. He let the DoD determine rather than implement foreign policy.
A sad end to a very honorable career. Obama might give Powell an opportunity to rehabilitate his legacy, but I would not expect anything substantial.
Yay Cenrtal Jersey! Every morning i miss my Taylor Ham.
I would say to Messrs. Will, Buchanan and Limbaugh this: Takes one to know one, buddy. If you believe that Powell based his endorsement on race, it is because that is what YOU do: You have already decided that McCain is the guy NOT on competance, NOT on his history, but on his race. Guess what, boys: That Makes You Racists. Period. (Ok, I’ll get off the KO soapbox now) Oh, and it’s 19 degrees in upstate New York this morning. I am NOT going to ride my bike to work.
Powell is disgusting and should be in jail for his cover up of Mai Li (sp?) and his liar’s presentation at the UN which has costs tens of hundreds of thousands of lives, destroyed the infrastructure of a nation, wasted $700BB of our tax dollars.
Why listen to this [edited by MOD], lying mouthpiece for militarism? He needs to be on trial, not on Meet the Press.
Morning. I’m watching FoxNews for you all. So far a little voter reg fraud and SNL. Next up Colin Powell’s endorsement. I want to see if the repub talking point gets used here as well.
FWIW, they didn’t like Palin’s SNL appearance. Say she was sandbagged. I agree. The clips I saw make her look like an idiot for being there.
the Obama campaign e-mail said that the rally tonight would be in the arena. Paper this morning says nowit’s gonna be outside. they expect 30-40,000. Could never get that in the arena. Early voting starts today!
So they reflect reality? :)
Morning, Solai – thank you for doing the dirty job that I refuse to do. And, if Palin and her handlers were dumb enough to book her onto SNL, then they have to expect there to be a lack of control of the situation. It’s THEIR show, not Palin’s. In just the same way that the McCain performance went on Letterman – it’s HIS deal and the guests have to respond to HIM. Tough on Palin – but her ‘market’ probably does not watch SNL anyway…
is that Fox & Friends? who’s the ignernt…, i don’t wanna say bit** …. girl (won’t even call her a woman). how ’bout female idjit? what’s her name again. I watched Fox some over the weekend. Pretty much all ACORN all the time. They reported that te Obama campaign was going to :”hire” a special prosecutor in the ACORN matter. Wrong. And the report said nothing about why. They got some “expert” in to talk about how he can’t understand it given Obama’s ‘extensive ties” to ACORN. Didn’t report the story. Just mentioned it. Got it wrong and took a chance to trash Barack. Alaos had a piece on how funny McCainwas at the Al Smith dinner. And Joe the freaking plumber, who’s so upset that his life has been turned upside down and he has no privacy anymore was interviewed. He was on again on Huckabee’s show last night. Loser.
Uh,oh. The robo calls are hurting the children. From HuffPo:
they screwed up. they screwed up.
OK, folks; I have to (brrrrr) go out and get to work. Glad we took the plants in a long time ago – it’s frozen out there…and they are predicting snow this week up north ..even north of you,Solai, but snow in October nonetheless.
Insiders Work Toward Socialism – you’ve been warned. Forward far and wide…

Yes, siree, the McCain camp is filled with idiots. Maybe next Sarah will go on The Colbert Report.
Thanks for watching. I thought that Palin did a good job on SNL. She did not seem as stiff as Baldwin and seemed to have fun during the news segment. Her true calling might be entertainment since she’s failing in her political quest. FYI, Brokaw on the Today Show said that overnight polling showed Powell’s endorsement would only help around the edges? Wouldn’t that be good news if he could only get 1 or 2 percent of the undecideds, I’d be happy.
Bitter cold here too. Currently about 18 degrees.
The best news I’ve read today is over at DKos. It makes me feel hopeful. I’m talking about the legion of lawyers that will be at all the polling stations in Florida on election day.

Rush Limbaugh is voting for John McCain because McCain is white. Pure and simple. No further explanation is needed here. Case closed.
So, who is the real racist here? Oh that’s right! The Big Fat Monopoly Banker named Ass Limbo! That’s who.
Buenos dias
On Washington Journal this morning:
7:30am – Rep. Gwen Moore (D-WI) 4th District, Budget Committee Member
8:30am – Libertarian Presidential Nominee Bob Barr
9am – Ward Connerly, American Civil Right Institute, President & Shanta Driver, By Any Means Necessary, Director
Yep, I read about that a few weeks ago. Barack Obama is not messing around! He’s gonna put undercover attorneys all around the country to make sure the neocons don’t try to steal another election.
Bravo Barack!
I went to training for that yesterday in my county. The room was packed to overflowing. SRO. Hard to estimate how many people were there because tehre were eople out in the hall who couldn’t even get in. People sitting on the floor. The lecturer gets up looks at the room and says “Wow.” they were happy. I’m very encouraged by the turnout. Even more encouraged by the Obama organization and how well, organized, it is. they’ve learned alot from 2000 and 2004. Less encouraged by the fact that we’re even needed in such great numbers and not encouraged by hearing the things to look out for. But I am confident–very confident– we can deal with whatever comes up. If we lose this state, I honestly believe we’re going to have to lose it fair. I don’t think they’re going to steal it.
Fer sure. They are not screwing around.
I’m envious of you, BFL and glad we’ll have someone to report to us. Here in CNY, I don’t expect any shennanigans. But, I wouldn’t have minded being a poll-watcher. Something to be proud of and tell the grandkids someday.
Something I read a few days ago was disturbing. I can’t remember which state it was and I don’t even know if it was true. But, somewhere, the repubs (not the official republican party) were calling on off-duty fireman and others to go to the inner city to ‘help out’ in case unqualified voters were trying to vote. The most obvious case of voter intimidation I ever saw.
I actually can’t wait. Although 12 hours – probably more if the polls stay ipen late as expected – is gonna be exhaustiating. I’m going to miss alot of teh results. I’d do early voting too but getting off work would be a problem.
Yeah. And tehy ahve them in teh neighborhoods telling people or putting up signs away from the polls which say that if you have a record you can’t vote and if you try you’ll be arrested.
Just received this link to the I Am Obama photography project in which some friends of mine participated in over the weekend.
