Mark Jacoby, who heads the vote-registration-fraud operation Young Political Majors (YPM), was arrested today in California by agents of the office of Secretary of State Debra Bowen.
Calitics reports this from an emailed press release from the office of the Secretary of State’s Election Fraud Investigation Unit:
The owner of a signature-gathering firm that works across California was arrested in Ontario today on suspicion of committing voter registration fraud, Secretary of State Debra Bowen announced.
Mark Anthony Jacoby, who owns the firm known as Young Political Majors (YPM), was arrested after allegedly registering himself to vote, once in 2006 and again in 2007, at an address where did not live. An investigation by the Secretary of State’s Election Fraud Investigation Unit revealed that Jacoby twice registered to vote at the address of a childhood home in Los Angeles although he no longer lived there….
"Voter registration fraud is a serious issue, which is why I vigorously investigate all allegations of elections fraud," said Secretary Bowen, California’s chief elections officer. "Where there’s a case to be made, I will forward it to law enforcement for criminal prosecution."
This comes after reports, at Campaign Silo, of YPM shenanigans for Nader in Arizona.
Jacoby’s arrest stems not from these charges, nor from the charges of "slamming" — changing registrations to GOP without a voter’s knowledge.

not shenanigans – just collecting signatures for petitions. doesn’t mean something else won’t turn up or that there isn’t more to it. but there’s no evidence of any shenanigans wrt nader at this point.
Seems like YPM presents a good counter to McCain’s ACORN blather. Don’t suppose it’ll receive a comparable level of coverage.
Did Bill Kristol put the hex on the Red Sox this morning?
Isn’t this great. The Rethugs always accuse the Dems of doing whatever it is they themselves are actually doing. Uncle Karl’s playbook, page 237.
I had a smart boss one time who used to tell me that thieves are basically lazy. Eventually they mess up, because they just don’t work hard enough to keep the scheme going.
Hi Teddy….. a local radio host interviewed the National Director for ACORN Financial Justice Center…… anyone can listen to this in depth interview answering questions about ACORN at this link Action Point Online… go to the link “download show”.
Bebunks all the Faux spin
You’d think that sooner or later somebody would cut the crap and just start investigating the GOP based on whatever accusations they make. It would have to save time.
unfortunately this may be too complicated for the low info portion of the electorate to sort out, and the RNC will spin this against us as part of the Acorn/Obama conspiracy they allege. if we want to use it and prevent them from using it against us we need to quicky get out there with the meme: “republican election fraud” and “republican hypocrites caught red handed” etc
Actually, I would call them stupid and lazy. Someone who is just lazy (such as myself) recognizes that the easiest path of all is telling the truth and following the rules.
Far less to have to deal with and remember.
Five page report up on the questions concerning the candidates’ health up at NYT

Awesome.
All that attention in 2006 on electing non-corrupt Sec’s State in California and Ohio is looking pretty good this year.
So what’s next? Where’s the pivot point for 2010?
dumb question though… I assume this is about 8 or something right? they don’t seriously
plan to contend in CA for the
presidency do they?
btw, looks like Obama plans to intensify operations in WV, ND and GA. the wave continues
I just read that. Had been led to believe it would contain some new insight regarding McCain’s health but consists entirely of previously reported info as far as I can tell.
the post over at C&L about the hate voice mails & emails directed at ACORN…
More Hate Voicemails directed at ACORN.
SICK sick sick
Everything is too complicated for the low-info voter but as you mentioned, it is important to immediately tag it as “Republican election fraud.”

Make space, darlin’; that’s my favorite bench. *g*
I had a remote control malfunction today and wound up watching Faux News for a minute or two, These morons really believe that Joe the Plummer is going to save them!

Reminds me of this from wiki
and this
It should, but it likely won’t.
Although the LATimes did cover it today:

Tion.
Explains why they are always obsessing about voter fraud.

This is OT, but my dad is going to be on Morning Edition tomorrow, an interview by John Burnett, “Atomic Ed and the Black Hole.” Or something like that. I know it is pledge week and all, so whatever. But my dad is a good guy.
Beside the point…but can you even believe Mondale lost to Norm? I had forgotten that little detail. Gave me a jolt.
Cool!
Is your Dad a physicist?
Can you imagine Norm being your ob-gyn? Scares me to death.
Thanks for the note. John Burnett does good work…should be interesting.
In a word, NO….sort of makes me sick.
Actually the thought of my even needing an ob-gyn scares me to death.
No, he is teh anti-nuclear activist in Los Alamos. He’s been interviewed in many mags and newspapers from around the world. Ellen Spiro (from “Body of War”) made a film about him. She is coming this week to film him again, for another project she is doing. He won’t be around much longer, but he will keep after it until his dying breath.
Is this really news or a planted story? Sorry I question everything now.
Why would they or how could they have a web site online for a year?
Doesn’t seem right does it?

Thanks for telling us….and give him our thanks as well. Sounds like a hero to me.
teddy has a new post a few flights up
Well, this certainly starts my day on a high note.
It gets better.
Calif. Insurance commissioner (and failed millionaire gubernatorial candidate) Steve Poizner is apparently funding YPM.
