Suzanne! Toons!
Popeye for President!
I’m all for the Spinach Party
boing boing forward one and a half somersaults with one and a half twists, no splash (natch)
g’evening everyone – how ya’ll doing tonight?
i’m strong to the finish
’cause i eat my spinach…
Oh and I see Olive is chopping Suz wood
i could use a popeye to stack it for me – the wood guys around here just deliver and do not stack.
We’re all Willie Horton now.
-G
I ams what I am.
Hey, Suz. Gonna watch the toon, but want more from katymine on JTP!
Voter suppression.
It’s all I can think about and it’s why I’m not sleeping. Are the dems doing enough to stop it?
So… Popeye gets his strength from a green leafy substance….Hmmmmm!!!!
Hey Suzanne how’s it going?
We have yet to order our wood, and thank goodness they do stack (I am way too old to do this anymore). We have a great fireplace and Mr. CE is the master of firemaking. Can’t wait! I love fall, and the leaves are coming down this weekend like crazy. We’ve been cooking chili and painting room left empty by adult children (come back! visit the folks! I’ll buy popcorn!)
Hey everyone!
Are the dems doing enough to protect the votes that have been cast. This worries me more than standing in the way of the physical voter.
*waves at Suze and The Pups*
I went to a wedding/reception/dance last night … besides eating/drinking/dancing, a lot of talking politics. Halloween costumes were discussed, Teh Pop Princess is making the rounds as Sarah Palin (has got the chirpy “you betcha!” down pat) along with my sister as McCain (still isn’t blinking quite fast enough) and future BIL as Joe Sixpack.
Nice dive, lady!
I’m great this evening, Suzanne! We raised over half a million dollars for Ms Odious’s opponent Elwyn, and are coming up on seventy thousand (to be matched!) for No On Prop 8.
What.
A.
Whirlwind!
Currently 31 degrees outside,brrrrr!!!
i wudda expected that from drbong, billybugs, and not you (laughing)
doing well – settling in nicely – i could sit and stare out the living room windows for hours – when i’m not sitting out on the deck on the other side of my living room windows.
Hey, Christine! I love fall too, though we don’t get much but raking duty here in SoCal. Chili does sound mighty good though.
woohoo
thanks for sending me the book teddy – it arrived today.
it’s 40 here, cozy with kitty in my room. Wish I had a nice fire going
I liked Batman vs. The Penguin: The Debate. I thought it was pretty funny.
People are pissed, Teddy. There were a dad/grandpa and about 5 girls standing on a street corner with No on 8 signs today, and it made me take out my Obama sign to wave as I waited for the light to change.
Weirdest election ever.
I heard Tina Fey on Letterman give her method of figuring out how to do a Palin accent. Very funny and interesting. She had the writer put in a lot of Rs in her ’speech’ last week, because Palin really stresses them.
you’ll scare the children
Princeton University has something to say about voting machines…

” i wudda expected that from drbong, billybugs, and not you (laughing)”
LOL Ah you know uhm just saying you know ah what were we talking about??

good night sweet pups, Sweet Morpheus is upon me.
as popeye would say ha-ha-ha-haa
g’nite ellie
nite elliott
Stop by in the morning, we’re having a birthday party!!
no, my sister and daughter will scare the children … i’m thinking of being Dorothy and having Spook be the Cowardly Lion. But first i have to find enough time to get a costume together … mebbe i’ll just resort to my usual costume of tired middle-aged woman.
The seasons here are really wonderful. I love the smell of fall here, the leaves and sunsets are so colorful. Winter snows are always wonderful (really, I LOVE snow). March mud pretty much sucks. June is the best month of the year. I miss the ocean very, very much, but I love Ohio weather now.
G’ night Elliot
you could always go as a voter ndfg
or the Crazy Bag Lady from Lakeville Minnesota
there is always portraying one of them desperate housewives, grandma edition
I think October is the best month, I like the leaves and the colors. Love snow too!
Time to pack it in .
Thanks Suzanne !
Goodnight everyone!!!
But not as an undecided one, ‘K?
I caught the repeat of TDS with the sketch about the undedcideds vs pollsters. Howled with laughter, because isn’t that how we all feel about ‘em about now?
Hi, Suz!
Hi, Pups!
FunnyDiva
who keeps wanting to sign it with “XXOO” because that’s how I sign on another forum…
‘night, bugsy!
FD
Aloha, Ya’ll from the cool crisp mountaintop! 8-)
i don’t know if i get snow here – i’ve heard that it has been known to happen but… the winter before i moved into the cute cottage by the creek in the redwoods it snowed there but didn’t the 5 years i lived there. i bet they get a buttload of snow this year
hey funny d!
g’nite billybugs
glare
Aww, that’s not very nice! Gorgeous skies and there’s a miilion stars about! One hour shift under the belt!
i am so forking jealous – can ya take your personal camera and take nite shots dood?
Sounds nice, CT, what’s up? Besides the stars…
Hey Margot!
I love October. We just opened a new show: Artistic Luxury: Tiffany, Lalique and Fabrege — it is so beautiful! I’m waiting for our kids to return for Thanksgiving, and hopefully, to a Dem win for a real celebration.
Joe Sudbay has a really good point to make:
Faberge
I need to get a digital camera, which is in the pipeline…! This morn outta the blue they called and asked if I could fill in with only 4 hours notice…! Btw, Go BoSox!!!
Did SNL air yet?
Oh, CE, that sounds like an Awesome Show!
Got a linkie?
FunnyD
Hey, look at me, I’ve got a facebook thingie.
Nothing like being dragged kicking and screaming into the late 20th century…
just sent ya a friend request funny d
I remember the beautiful lakes, woods, and fireflies in Minnesota. The beautiful icicles and snow covering houses, trees, streetlamps and everything. Stunning. Christmas was so beautiful too, with the ice sculptures and the way the lights reflect off the ice and snow. Ah, memories!
He may have a poing, Loo Hoo.
Ni will not ever appear on Letterman – not a friendly venue.
She will not sit down with anyone unlike Hannity – not a threat.
But from what I saw, she was again lampooned by Fey, she got ignored by Mark Walberg as if she was furniture, and had to stand and say nothing while Alec Baldwin took about a 3-inch thick chunk of her hide. I assume TeamMcCheese didn’t ask for that.
I wish I could see that exhibit. Next lifetime.;)
A poing, AND a point…
go see it margot, before the weather turns. how far is that from you? arent you both in ohio?
Heh, and here I thought I was the only one oxygen deprived…! ;-)
Bush or McCain?
I’m going to go watch it again.
What’s this? 57 minutes and 61 comments, and nobody’s done any Digging yet?
Does nahant have the night off, or something?
thanks. not sure what happened to it, let’s see what happens if I click your linkie again…
I sent ya a message…
For some sick, depraved reason, I’d love to see Dick Cheney on SNL.
thanks neuro
Will do now…back later.
I’m also convinced the B-King and the new VMAX are going to stand up and say, “Are you Roy Whitwicky?” Those things make the V-Rod Muscle look good, which isn’t easy.
OK, yay! You’re my first Lake friend on Facebook.
I feel so socially networked!
FunnyD
i got it and your friend confirmation :)
Sorry for all the turned-down corners — glad the postman found you way out there!
hannibal, i would say you were a sick fork but… that would be stating the obvious (laughing) wearing hunter orange of course

This site is better than our own, geesh.
Hey y’all, how’s it goin?
I’m Mr. anxiety tonight. One week left. Then I join the ranks headed for Hooverville.
The second video actually makes Sarah seem likable.
She will make a lot of money.
I confirmed ya, FunnyD! 8-)
That suxs, TG! 8-(
You know deep down, he’s got a seriously fucked up sense of humor. I bet on January 21st, he’ll pull off the mask and reveal that he is in fact, Andy Kaufman.
hey that guy
I finally ordered Angler today. He is a fascinating individual, huh?
burgess meredith
Though I might overusing the Andy Kaufman theory a bit. I’m absolutely convinced that Ann Coulter is doing some bizarre, years long performance art in homage to Andy.
From a purely historical, objective perspective, definitely. Viewing him through current events, I’m just glad he’ll be leaving public office very soon.
I got home a couple of hours ago from a trip to Kansas City MO to hear Barack Obama speak to an outdoors crowd estimated at 75,000. The line to get through security stretched for several blocks when we got there two hours before the speech was scheduled to begin.
We opted to go to a fenced-off area for people who had not gone through security. Visibility was poor; I only got a few glimpses of O between the heads of people in the crowd in front of me. But the sound was great. We were only a few feet from a bank of speakers that were very loud and provided very high sound quality.
It was a lovely mid-October afternoon/evening. O spoke mainly about the economy, a very strong populist appeal. He ridiculed McCain on tax policy. Press reports said he had a crowd of 100,000 in St. Louis this morning–biggest crowd he’s had yet except Berlin. He seems at the top of his form. It was definitely worth the time and energy spent to be there.
There are links to the entire speech online. I can go and get one if anybody is interested.
CT wheres the film at eleven??? I mean you were up the mountain!! Weren’t you?
ooooh, neuro – how fun! didja take pictures? how was the crowd?
We are both car shy — if there was a bus/train system, we could do ANYTHING.
Congrats neuro!
Love a link.
“I’m Mr. anxiety tonight. One week left. Then I join the ranks headed for
HoovervilleBushMcCainville.Fixed.
Check it. Obama gets a lot of cool by keeping his hands relaxed. Opposite of McCane.
sorry, no pics. I am technologically impaired. I felt like holding up my antique 7-year-old cell phone and pointing it at the stage even though it doesn’t have a camera–just so I’d look like I fit in.
crowd was great. big and loud. a great time was had by all.
I envy! Glad you had a chance to enjoy it.
Alright Neuro!!! Good for you (:>))
I can’t decide what’s uglier, the VMAX, or the B-King. Either way, they’re both piles of crap.
*laughing* i got a cellphone (finally) that takes pictures last year. didn’t take a single picture with it – waited until i got a real camera. i don’t text either and the only ringtones are the ones that came with the phone.
i am partial to these
I’m partial to this, if I had the $40k, and was tired of being alive.
Likewise. The cost to text is an additional 30 per month +/-. Can’t see the point. Help me, someone. There must be a darn good case for texting.
if i had the money
Though this one is just flat out cool as hell.
i love that concept – pulling the mini van (laughing) that’s attitude!
Eh, I don’t like those things. They put a 125 mph speed governor on it, and last I heard, still hadn’t gotten the transmission problem down. Plus, it’s still nowhere near as cool as the LincVolt, but people can actually buy a Tesla, so it does have that in its favor.
ok, that is forking kewl hannibal. i hope enough people buy the tesla to help drive down the price for the rest of us.
Well Sarah is on SNL!! Her and Tina did walk by each other..
a total disappointment – i wonder why they held back. after the snl thurs weekend edition job they did on mcgeezer and his imaginary friend, i had hope for something more. and after thursday, did they have hold back tonight?
I’d really love to see this monstrosity come to the U.S. and be cheaper than it currently is (Over $100k!) Something wonderfully perverse about a turbo diesel motorcycle. Has as much torque (150 ft lbs.) as the Triumph Rocket III Touring, and about the same horsepower, but the engine is about 900 cc smaller.
Obama in KC
Link leads to page that contains the speech in 4 video segments
It says crowd of 40,000—others say 75,000
sweet, neuro. thanks
Begs the question “is that IT?”
Way to go, thanks. Watching now.
And I’m partial to THESE. *G*
all that hype for nothing – kinda a karmic representation of the entire mccain-palin campaign – all hype no substance
hey larue – nortons are a sweet bike dood, my dad was partial to the old 30’s style indian motorcycles himself – used to love to tell the story of crashing one into the long beach fountain back in his day.
SNL should have had Sarah Palin do a Cindy McCain impersonation–blond wig and all. Now THAT could have been funny.
Ha McCains lies biting him in the ass so quickly…
Ya just hafta love the age of the internet and the ability to CHECK THE FACTS…
Think about it. Tina Fey just HACKED Palin to a wall a few times.
Palin and McCain went to the toilet as america found out more about her.
Then, suddenly, last week, SNL cancelled their show, with Tina Fey planning on doing another skit.
And now, all of a sudden, Palin shows UP on the show and gets free publicity (no such thing as bad publicity).
These things did not happen in a vacuum.
My guess? GOP, Rove and Cheney FORCED SNL, and Lorne Michaels, and the network, to have Palin on. And forced Baldwin to kiss her ass, too. Hotter in person? Gimme a break.
I don’t think for ONE minute Michaels ever wanted Palin on the show . . . .
Bet it was pure poison on that set . . . . as it SHOULD have been. Palin’s a disgrace to our country as a politician, and doesn’t deserve anything from SNL but Fey’s parody.
It’ll all be over if a few weeks. Then, she has to face Alaskan Music . . . and well, who knows WHERE that will lead to . . . she could be toast forever. I bet the GOP really wants her for Congress in ‘10, but she might not last as Gov in AK that long, dawg willing.
Just read that they’re back under U.K. ownership.
or wearing a pinstrip suit and big white teeth pretending to be joe biden.
Very NICE Larue!!
Long and exciting day. Ah’m tahred.
Nite all.
The Ducati Dezmo changed bikes forever, didn’t it, way back then . . . *G* Haven’t seen a new one in many years, not even in pics, so thanks for that link!
‘nite neuro – a day to remember – being a part of history :)
nite neuro. thanks for the link. you had a good day.
Nite Neuro… Wish I had been with you today to hear BO live. He won’t bother to come here to California especially the Bay Area as he knows he has this area wrapped up!!
That new one scared the piss out of Suzuki, they even threatened to bail out of the World Superbike Championship if the Ducati wasn’t handicapped. So they had to put some silly ass air flow restrictor thing on it. Ducati still won the Championship.
That’s great news . . . must say I’m very old school partial . . .
I saw just last week a guy on a ‘08 Triumph, twin 650!!
Had NO idea they were building THOSE again! I had a few of them pups when in my teen years . . . . a Tiger (single carb 650), and a Bonneville which I bought already tricked out stripped down flat track style but street legal . . . god those electrics were crap in them days . . . Lucas! Bates! The Bonny had a capacitor discharge system, MUCH simpler to maintain!
Gotta go by by, thanks all for chattin about bikes! *G*
g’nite larue
Ok, last post . . . interesting . . . Ducati has ALWAYS put out top shelf made stuff. Always. Precise. Rival of any German auto engineering . . . . . glad to hear they still do!! *G* I gotta go look up the SuperBike schedule and see if any of it is on TV in my region . . . nite awl. zzz
Nite Suz, way to keep it in line as always!!! lol
The young people like the texting because you don’t actually have to speak with someone to get your message across, I am convinced.
Hi it’s Jor the plumber…in drag! Hope ypu aren’t hmonphobic do not want to bum your trip. My mormon niegbir has a yeas sign as does the newbies across the street…couldn’t take the Obama sign on my dead PU.

Uh-oh, looks like I’m the only one up!
Aloha, All ya sleepers!
MuHAHAHahahaha
Maybe a thread on Popeye is the place to mention an insight I had last night in the wee hours of the morning.
Is Superman the perfect manifestation of the American id?
Think of it– the power to fight evil is conceived in terms of brute physical strength; solutions are seen in terms of POW! SMASH!
All the super-heroes, even the women, have “special powers”.
Funny that none of them have special powers at arbitration, negotiation, mending relationships, or the like.
The last guy to try that was named Jesus, and look what happened to him– Crucified! Only superpower he had was to change water to wine, and to heal sick folks. How American is that?
Well, what I mean is that we can tell a bit about our national psyche by the heros we have.
Bob in HI
Got my ballot in the mail today. Will get that puppy out Monday morning!
I don’t doubt that one has been chewed over before.
Mainstream action movies are also illustrative.
I take it there’s no Attaturk on Sunday morns…! ;-)
wtf-k
Good Morning! Obama’s fundraising numbers for September have been released and it’s large, more than 150 million.
I’m uneasy about Powell’s MTP interview this morning. It’s been apparent that he supports Obama for some time, but will he have the courage to announce it proudly? His phone must have been ringing off the hook with various concerns about his intentions, so we will see what happens.
Morning anyone,
Latest news to be released tomorrow – Obama raises over 150 million in Sept
You may have a point especially after what happened to Kathleen Parker and Buckley. He did not want to run for political office to protect his wife.
Meet The Press does not come on here until 10. Does anyone get it earlier?
Same here> I expect him to speak up on the raic-baitng of the McCain campaign
Come upstairs, we’re having a party.
Good morning, pups. It’s Dowd, Friedman, Kristof and Rich today. Wow! MoDo is really, really mad today. I guess she didn’t like her quarterly 401k statement. Today she presents us with “After W., Le Deluge,” in which she says in this season of darkness, as Charles Dickens described an earlier mob scene, she’s feeling as vengeful and bloodthirsty as Madame Defarge sharpening her knitting needles at the guillotine. Mr. Friedman writes about “The Great Iceland Meltdown,” and says globalization giveth. Globalization taketh away. And now, we have to hope, that globalization will saveth. Mr. Kristof discusses “The Downturn’s Upside,” and says the economic misery is numbingly real, but it’s also true that a downturn isn’t uniformly bad and might even be good for you. Mr. Rich says “He Just Can’t Quit W,” and that it’s not just the economy. And it’s not just President Bush. John McCain is to blame for his own campaign’s disastrous course.

The coffee, tea and hot chocolate are ready. I’m declaring it hot chocolate weather because it’s below 50 here and below freezing in Vermont. I’ve got a French toast casserole this morning, with pecans added. Have a grand day.
