Yep. I agree.
Are you serious?!!! Brother-in-law? Goodness (or not)!
Joe the Plumber has had his crack exposed.
joe the businessman would see his taxes go up $740 on 278k in NET income.
Joe is in the top 2-5% of earners in the country.
his marginal rate would rise form 36% to 39%, what it was pre-2000.
shiney Gooper object.
we are all Joe the plumber now.
rhetorical flourish / artistic license one surmises, but if the glove fits you must admit…
hehe.. btw, some Democratic lawyer in Missouri just filed suit against McSame and the rethugs in Federal court for inciting hatred against and threatening Obama.

bom dia pups
Levitt now thinks that non-regulation of derivatives which he supported was maybe not such a good idea. Now he wants them regulated but not done away with.
The problem is of course that we can’t get out from under the curren meltdown until we nullify most CDSs and unwind almost all CDOs.
Perky Katie Couric laughed at Joe the Plant’s comment about Obama tap dancing like Sammie Davis Jr.? She is trully disgusting. Hoping the Obama administration completely freezes out these rich and wealthy shills for the status quo including Couric, Stephanopolus, Scheiffer, Brokaw, Hume, David Gregory, Brian Williams to name but a few. None of them are honest representatives of the 4th Estate. Freeze them out and their lack of access means they are irrelavent.
ot – from the senate banking committee hearing: levitt is now talking about what i think was the key regulatory moment – the conflict between born and greenberger at the cftc vs everyone else in 1998. levitt now recants.
Heh. A plant…
This from the LA Times this morning:
Is Joe even smart enough to see the potentially racist aspects to that comment? I dunno. I would say that TeeVee hits a new low, but after Sarah, I’m thinking it’s just par for the course.
epu’ed comment – of course levitt wants the failed sec to be in on it [regulation]. he’s not there anymore and he’s still playing empire building games.
McMoron’s crew telegraphs punches so badly you can diagnose them even before they are thrown.
Ex. Palin: “Can I call you Joe?”
McMoron: Joe Keating the plumber.
The Joe the Plummer storyline the corporate media is breathlessly pursuing reminds me a bit of the Republican ads of Harry and Louise that undermined HRC’s health care reforms. Republicans try and convince the nation that they represent the “common” people. The only one’s they have convinced are the celebrities in the corporate media.
Yeah, I know, but…
Why, when people point to this incident as a matter of confession that the lefties want to redistribute wealth, doesn’t anybody in charge proffer the thought that the right wants to redistribute wealth, too. That they have been doing so for the preceeding 7 1/2 years, that they have redistributed the wealth upward and it has cost every middle class worker apx. $2,000 of their annual income. That we are just trying to rebalance the playing field! Maybe it’s time the inconvenient truths were told.
*shaking head* I can’t wait until this goofy election is over
McCain says hands off Joe the Plumber’s money, but all hands on deck for the “plumbing” of Joanne.
successful businessmen, important!
women, not so much.
here, here
Has Joe the plumber how replaced Joe Six-Pack? I am really tired of this “Joe” thing.
I gotta give McCain credit: he has brought celebrity to Palin and Joe the Plumber. Enjoy.
WOW, did the mccain camp actually believe we wouldn’t find out this guy is a frigging relative of the palins?
what a bunch of bafoons
and this, notice my bold!
He made his feelings about women and our issues loud and clear.
My husband said just this morning that it’s like holding up the funeral until all the relatives can reach town.
How come it’s never Bob? or Bill? Jeff? Tyrone? oh wait–
And Mooselini is A-OK with that. is there a problem? /s.
This nonsense Hosta stop.

Citizen Hamsher and the Firepup Freedom Fighters:
I hopw yours is NOT the last word on “Joe the Plumber” but only the opening slavo in a barrage of truth exposure of both this pathetic Bozo but the media who use creatures like this to trivialize democracy and cover blatant racism in the process. We are at a point in this election where people are not only really listening but listening critically to those messages that effect or contradict their own experience and their lyin’ eyes. Let’s give Joe the Plumber everythin’ he deserves for bein’ used as a shill for fascism… and, by the way, what is Katie Couric and why is she followin’ us??!! Anyone else who had bombed as completely as she has on prime time would be relegated ta the early weather report on the Wasilla radio station.
KEEP THE FAITH AND PASS THE AMMUNITION, TAKE NO PRISONERS AND GIVE NO QUARTER!!!
Heh. A plant…

Palin, a true feminist *spit*
Speaking of Tyrone Shoelaces, I have tickets for the Cheech & Chong show on the 25th. Now THAT is what I consider true comedy.
Very subtle inference with the picture, I love it.
knucklehead Congressman Peter King (R-NY) was Tweety’s “spin” interview last night, and he kept saying that Joe the plumber represented the “hard-working ethnic types” or something like that.
What was this whole McCain returning soldiers teaching at schools w/out certifications? I’m still trying to wrap my head around that idea
What ethnic is Joe?
They were before my time but I hear they were hilarious
Figures he can get em at minimum wage now that goopers have fucked up the economy!
I think that Samuel J. Plumber may actually dislike Obama’s policies towards women.
Portions of Samuel J. Wurzelbacher’s Divorce Settlement from Tucson, Az. filed in Toledo, OH.
So Joe the Plumbob makes much less than 250K and is not registered to vote and the media was at his doorstep 10 minutes after the debate. Does the MSM remove their cow type nose rings when they are on the air?
Wurzelbacher – German or Swiss or Lichtensteinian or Belgian or Dutch or Luxembourgeois?
perris,
The “joe the plumber is Paln’s brother-in-” bit seems to be snark. As in, a joke, poetic license, not a factual statement.
Geez, Balrog! You’re starting to resemble/rival punaise! I thought he was the One and Only, Inimitable! Now there’s two or more…
Let’s see a group of returning vets who have been denied benefits and are suffering from PTSD?
Not quite well thought out
Highly recommended. ;)
Reports are now that he may be struck from the rolls since there is a misspelling in his name. It’s listed as “Samuel J. WORZELBACHER” He’s one of those “fraudulent” registrations that the Republicans are howling about!
He was a total shill, wasn’t he? wow.
Good people of NY, vote King out!
You’ve been busy this morning *g*
That would be poetic justice
People who vote for McCain are those who hate to see their donations die in vain.
There is only one Punaise *bows*
I will only relax when the election actually happens
then we’ll see if they’ve gamed enough machines to win another election
the thing is, palin might actually inoculate us from election stealing, I think even the republicans don’t want her as vp
Another Joe -
We have had 30 years of class warfare, in which the wealthy strip-mined the middle class. The wealth has been “spread” upward.
Joe Klein
actually the plumber reference is entirely appropriate, as McWashout is circling the drain.
Final Word?
typo?
Do we know that Sam J. is related or equal to Joe the plumber? I read the link above and I am not convinced of his family connections yet, but I am convinced he’s an idiot. No offense to his ethnic group (I think I’m a member of the same sets of ancestors…oy).
Do you know if accounts that are NCUA insurred are as safe as accounts that are FDIC insurred?
Republics want to be able to vote when and where they want. Remember Ann Coulter and her voter fraud.
ot – senate banking committee hearing: the comments now regarding “self-regulation” are a big, big dig at greenspan (although his name has not been brought up) because this has been what he has advocated for at least 20 years.
I thought Joke Line was OK with that. He was carving Bush’s name on his desk for the last eight.
I am wondering how joke line was converted back to the reality basis for politics, he seemed to have left for a while and now he might be back
Hmm seems Joe the plumber isn’t licensed (via Toledo Blade)
A
Mr. Wurzelbacher told reporters Thursday morning that he worked for Newell Plumbing & Heating Co., a small local firm whose business addresses flow back to several residential homes, including one on Talmadge Road in Ottawa Hills.
According to Lucas County Building Inspection records, A. W. Newell Corp. does maintain a state plumbing license, and one with the City of Toledo, but would not be allowed to work in Lucas County outside of Toledo without a county license.
Mr. Wurzelbacher said he works under Al Newell’s license, but according to Ohio building regulations, he must maintain his own license to do plumbing work.
He is also not registered to operate as a plumber in Ohio, which means he’s not a plumber.
hmm formatting is off
Me either. Then we can start working on getting good people elected locally and peeping folks to run against the dead wood in Congress in 2010. 4 Nov is just the “…end of the beginning.”
try again:
Levitt did name Greenspan on WJ this morning.
exactly!

Wow — that’s funny — Last night and this morning I was thinking Joe-Sprung-a-Leak was probably a plant. LOL
Joe the Plumber is not a plumber? My God- is NOTHING sacred?
morethanweneededtoknow! hahahahahaha but thanks. fine research for a noble cause. ;->
and joe doesn’t have a license to plumb. who does the vetting for these twits?
can’t wait to listen to that one. sorry i missed it and thankful for cspan’s archive.
I read somewhere this morning that there is a connection between Joe the Plumber and the Keatings.
president bush is not the president (cheney is), palin is not the governor, (todd is), mccain is not the senator,(absent is)
Shouldn’t the union sue for defamation by character or somethin?
OT
McCoin is really up for us old folks. Out of touch much?
Just now on CNN he told story of his 98 year old mother who went to France to drive around. Too old to rent a car so she bought one.
Why didn’t I think of that?
Mccain on my teevee, still copying off Obama’s paper.
ugh!
He let her go to France??? (gasp)
707!!!
Generally (not familiar with Ohio) plumbers must have an apprentice license for several years before testing for journeyman. It then takes another few years to become an Owner.
Simple! He put his finger in the wind, saw which way the wind was blowing, and viola!
turn on some music instead, hon.
(bows) Konnichiwa, Wobbs
Having any luck getting money/food together for the food banks?
Dumbest VP debate analysis: “Palin won by not losing.”
Dumbest POTUS debate #3 analysis: “The winner was Joe the Plumber.”
Republican hack. Typical overconfident incompetent.
LOL copying off of Obama’s paper. I can’t even watch tv today. I’m angry and I need to detox from all the spinning, outright lies, etc. I just absorb it too easily
Going by the newspaper article (from Toledo, Ohio) it seems to be some sort of problem
all I get is Jesse Owens destroying the Nazi Olympics

Where the hell did they find that damn oil, in Crawford? Or maybe that is the “October surprise” WTF!!
A potted plant no less…
Joe the Plumberbutt didn’t seem to press play/record in his head when Obama spoke with him FOR FIVE MINUTES, and in detail about his main concern. Plumberbutt could say, “Yeah he answered my question, but even a 3% hike in my income tax is more than I want to pay…” or whatever (not to mention Obama and Joe seemed to miss that they were conflating revenues and personal income….so Joe could buy his treasured truck and write it off just as now…), but instead Plumberbutt’s running around saying Obama “tap danced” around his question. WTF?!?!
It’s obvious “Joe” is going to think whatever he wants to think, facts be damned.
This isn’t something that I am familiar with but it would seem so.
http://www.ncua.gov/ShareInsurance/Index.htm
Yes and maybe *g*. We have a little fundraiser/cocktail party goig on Saturday with some very deep pocket folks atttending. As far as outreach to the other foodbanks with Thanksgiving and Christmas coming, that is a no brainer that we will need to help one another.
Sorry if my sentences seem a bit fragmented today, but thoughts, mind is a bit scattered today
It is not a problem – he is just another lying republican fraud.
seems my spelling has been affected as well *g*
So have I and that appears to be possible. Keating’s son-in-law was a Robert Wurzelbacher in the Cincinnati area I believe. Keating I know was big in Cincy area before de-camping to Arizona.
Speculation I’ve seen is that Joe and Robert are kin, just not established how to my knowledge.
Well he wanted to be a lion tamer.
seems redundant
this is a great question and it might have been pre-planned to help mccain, they did not expect the economic meltdown to be front/center
expect those prices to rise once obama is elected, thus rush will blame obama for the increase in prices
or we’re all too poor to buy the stuff and its just stacking up as a result.. or Cheney’s has been stealing and hording it in a giant cavern under his ranch in Wyoming :)
This is typical rethug SOP. Drop the prices for the election and then as soon as it is over someone will trip on a walkboard in Nigeria and the prices will skyrocket>
Whoa boy! Now that would be delicious irony if “Joe” loses his job over this exposure. (if he has wife/kids, that would be a drag though…)
Almost forgot but your institution should prominently display by law the NCUA sticker saying they insure accounts to $250,000. You can also call them.
I am thinking the very word “redundant” is redundant itself since there is no word “dundant”
Well, is there anyone that can define the “Joe six pack” using the comments that Palin used. I mean isn’t that what faux news does. Define things for the American people. Because the defination here says it has negative connotations. I can see this could be quite funny yet still informmative about the other side coming across as “uppity”.
dundant = done dant = done that *g*
I think Joe the plumbbob is the one who is doing the tap dancing – around the truth. Typical rethug

Experts at the Congressional hearings this past summer testified that oil should be $60. to $80. a barrell.
And that was before talk of a world wide recession. So I assume it should be lower than that price.
He got better.
justice delayed is still justice served?
and for that we can all be grateful.. :~)
IIRC world oil supply in the second quarter of 2008 was similar to what it was last year but demand has decreased. I think this trend has continued. With price down and relative supply up, it is a good time to replenish stocks.
yep
Joe the Plunger. Another bitter, whiny, wealthy white asswipe.

I thought the name Joe sounded familiar.
haha. I was cruising through the C&L liveblog comments last night for kicks (I know, I need an intervention) and found a funny comment:
Good one, Jane.
A picture is worth a thousand words.
Cnn just interviewed an “I reporter”..While we were being entertained by Blinky McCain, cops in their riot gear were hurting Iraq Veterans Against The War outside of the debate. One vet was trampled by a horse.
hehe very cute
Was Lieberweasel waiting for McBush as he left the stage last night? Funny as hell!
My husband is on a credit union board and he gets informational updates. A credit union consultant, speaking about the whole crisis wrote this about credit unions:
Seventh, credit unions are likely to emerge as the only recognizable sector of the financial landscape. They will not be all or partially owned by the U.S. government. They will remain member-owned. Credit unions will also benefit as many nearby bank branches, which have recently put heavy upward pressure on deposit rates, are closed. Those branches of the surviving big banks will also no longer be as aggressive on rates as the wholesale funding market recovers. Banks are paying a lot of lip service to the value of the retail base, but I know banks. Once the head office sees that they can fund huge size again at LIBOR flat, they aren’t going to pay LIBOR +100 for small retail deposits. Credit unions will have to be aggressive in getting out their story though, and it’s a good one. After all of the upheaval already seen and that which is yet to come, credit unions will be able to say, “We’re still here.” We didn’t change our name. We didn’t slam the door in your face when you needed credit. We continued, as we always have to serve our owners, you. I think I used up three months of my supply of optimism in this one paragraph, but I do mean it.
I saw him there.
“I’m kind of like Britney Spears having a headache.”
Hmmm! Wouldn’t it be rich if that devious Barack Obama INTENTIONALLY went into the neighborhood of the brother/son/relative of Charles Keating associate and McCain campaign contributor Robert J. Wurzelbacher, Jr.?
Sneaky Obama then lures the moth out to the bait. Suddenly the Keating association is big in the news!
New Obama ad features McShame eye contortions
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/…..35146.html
mr and I are members of the credit union *g* I remember when the banks were trying to take them down a few years back
When I was stationed at Rota in the early 60’s the persistent rumour was that the Guardia Civil killed gypsies as part of their training. I was with another family on vacation near Madrid and, long story short, we had a very pleasant lunch with El Jefe. Franco was very gracious.
My credit union was very worried that they would simply cease to exist, being forced to become part of some banking empire. After a bad experience with Bank of America after I got back from Nam I’ve avoided banks like the plague, particularly BofA.
How big are they, and how big can they get? I.E. can credit unions ever get big enough to make a macroeconomic difference?
OMG — great ad. His eyes are a twitter…I found that so annoying last night. McCain’s facial distortions during the debate made him a caricature of himself
Too bad there’s not some way the Dems could refashion this as “Joe, the owner of a plumbing business.”
Clearly someone in the McCain camp had seen the tape of Obama’s encounter w/Joe [or someone told them about it], but Obama didn’t make it clear enough that “Joe” was not some crack-exposing guy working under your sink, but instead someone who’d built a business and now wanted to sell it without paying any tax.
Thanks Jane.
digg
I quote the Toledo Blade, which apparently is the only paper that can do research on plumbers
“according to Ohio building regulations, he must maintain his own license to do plumbing work.
He is also not registered to operate as a plumber in Ohio, which means he’s not a plumber.”
Mr. Wulzerbacher’s notoriety has raised the ire of Tom Joseph, business manager for Local 50 of the United Association of Plumbers, Steamfitters, and Service Mechanics, who claimed that Mr. Wulzerbacher didn’t undergo any apprenticeship training.
“This individual has got no schooling, no licenses, he’s never been to a training program, union or non-union, in the United States of America,” Mr. Joseph said.
The association has endorsed Barack Obama, according to Mr. Joseph.
Apparently, Joe is a wannabe plumbing business owner. supposedly he wants to buy the business. but all of this sounds like so much, what’s the word?, BS.
ROTFL!!!
I covet those tickets and envy you. I’m a bad, bad person. I LOVE those dudes.
Thanks Sue. I wondered about their CD’s being NCUA insurred as opposed to FDIC insured. I feel better.
Two things:
Joe Plumber was on TeeVee today saying he hated social security and resented having to pay into it. My inference is he wants SS to be eliminated and for people to take care of themselves. Nice… how you feeling now old people about them Republicans.
Second, I just got a building loan of $300,000.00 from California Credit Union, a teachers CU. So go with credit unions. They are still in business.
Dave
Viet Vet & old people
“Joe the Plumber (according to the Toledo Blade, not Obama’s capaign) made $40,000 in 2006″
So maybe he’s intending to use “family money” to buy up that $250K/year plumbing business?
And apparently doesn’t like to pay his people SSI share (”let ‘em get private accounts in the stock market”) or offer them health insurance for their families (my understanding is that plumbing can involve lots of exposure to bacteria, fungi, viral agents, as well as caustic and carcinogenic substances). Nice guy.
Some credit unions are having problems, you can check yours at bankrate.com, but most aren’t. They are member oriented and tend not to go into the risky stuff.
My husband and I have two credit unions we belong to. The one is especially safe, since the bulk of their members all have Top Secret SBI clearances and you can’t keep your job if you don’t keep your finances in good order. That and their quality of the people applying to be board members is top notch. Most credit unions would be thrilled to have one board member with the years of number crunching background all of their board members have. The second board, the one my husband is a board member of, are made up of contract loggers. It is a tough business and those board members are really sharp.
Don’t get me started on BofA stories. Most folks serving overseas have not very nice BofA tales.
Poor Joe spends a lot of time listening to Rush Limbaugh. My brother-in-law is like that. Joe’s different only in that he expects (poor sucker) to make a big score. He should be spending him time like other good Americans at a Casino, where his chances are better.
Get these celebrity talking points from Joe:
Probably NOT my final word on “Joe the Plumber” given all we’ve learned about him over the last 12 hours. There’s bound to be more.
And give them a jr high class to teach.
Plant! Plant!! Plant!!!
Jane, Joe isn’t a plant. Obama came to his neighborhood — a surprise visit. News cameras were rolling when he asked Obama about taxes, the video hit local and national news, and that’s how McCain knew about him.
Joe had been playing football with his son in the yard of their house when Obama showed up.
