Add the Anchorage Daily News to the list of media in the tank for Obama.
Sarah Palin’s reaction to the Legislature’s Troopergate report is an embarrassment to Alaskans and the nation.
She claims the report "vindicates" her. She said that the investigation found "no unlawful or unethical activity on my part."
Her response is either astoundingly ignorant or downright Orwellian.
Page 8, Finding Number One of the report says: "I find that Governor Sarah Palin abused her power by violating Alaska Statute 39.52.110(a) of the Alaska Executive Branch Ethics Act."
In plain English, she did something "unlawful." She broke the state ethics law.
If there’s ever been a candidate for one of the two highest offices in government that’s a bigger liar than Sarah Palin, I want to know who it is.

But they know their base is so divorced from reality they will somehow believe her.
Truly frightening times in the old U.S. of A.
There was an excellent blog link about how Alaskans view this a few flights downstairs. I’ll see if I can find it.
Great news and great post, BT. But, goshdarnit, dontcha think the photo is eligible for “Epic Fail” and not just “Fail”?
A bigger liar – How about hero John McShame
Umm.
I can think of some– perhaps too many that laid the groundwork.
How about W and Dick?
Progressive Alaska
I don’t know what to make of her ,is she so blinded by ambition she’ll say anything to get elected?
Or is she just a clueless twit?
How cool is it, having ET all over this!
Thanks for the link.
Both.
Palin?
Failin.
Dick Cheney and George Bush.
And what’s so amazing is that lying is okay with the fundies. I thought there was a commandment…
I always thought there was a pretty good chance that a year from now she’d have a show on Fox News.
She’s neither blind nor a twit.
She’s a rabblerouser and a thug and a mendacious ubergovernor.
She is wallowing and following in the same footsteps as those that have crushed and destroyed many– overseas and here at home.
Something about her scares the hell out of me ,I haven’t quite figured out what though.
The Digg is open!
A cult of personality.
is she so blinded by ambition she’ll say anything to get elected?
Anything? I don’t think she’s capable of ‘anything’.
Her range of possible topics is *very* narrow. She looked fuckin’ terrified yesterday as McSlime started speaking in somewhat less inflammatory and derogatory terms about the campaign from here on out.
What’s the poor woman to do?
Thanks. I thought it was ET but truth be told I sometimes get the guys with initials (like CT) mixed up, so I didn’t know who to credit. thanks for helping me!!!
Sounds like the beginning of a haiku.
She’s a trailblazer. I think she should blaze the trail from politics to acting. Like a reverse Oregon Trail. she’s really good at delivering lines. that’s all she needs. I’m serious.
Deceit
Her response is either astoundingly ignorant or downright Orwellian.
close – but there’s no either/or here.
She’s so dim that the Orwellian (which she could never recognize or identify) seems normal and correct to her.
wailin’
jailin’
She scared me when she was first named and gave Mc a bump. But no more. She’s just a joke. Here’s a couple of links from Andrew Sullivan:

Or whatever pops into her little head at any given time is the “Truth”.
the fact that there is a high probability that she has a personality disorder and that most people don’t realize it and are willing to unwittingly support her probable psychosis to the detriment of the country? could it be that?
new Faux News pundit? They could provide her with lines she’d be comfortable with.
It could happen.
Truth is what ever she needs it to be.
why are they booing Piper?
I read earlier that ET and friends are organizing an official recall campaign for Alaska’s governor.
She’s got that toxic mix of cocksure arrogance and insouciant anti-intellectualism – much like Dubya. She’s perfectly suited to be the new shiny object of affection for a party that fetishizes mediocrity.
this is what ugly campaigns bring out.
via Kos dairist, scroll down and check out the pic.
absoultely vile
Or whatever pops into her little head at any given time is the “Truth”.
whoa – uncomfortable flash back to the ex….
ok – all better now.
could!
(((mary))) how are you?
If somebody doesn’t effectively counter the Bill Ayers charges, we will be in trouble by election day. The damage is still being done. Palin has served her purpose. They chose her because they knew she would fulfill the mission of being appealing to the crowds, getting their ears, and then sending out the smear messages.
I also notice that now Palin’s “glow” has diminished…she no longer beams when she is in front of the audiences. Her complexion is pale, and her face muscles tight. I’ll bet she knows she been used….
If they lose this election…what kind of job does she go back too, now that AK is turning.
What a complete idiot.
Insane. Right now I am insane.
And yourself?
IS she a sociopath ?
How can someone be so cheerful and happy ,while spewing vile and vicious hatred?
Mm, yes, totally agree.
TheraP did a great comment a couple of nights ago on Palin’s inability to recognize appropriate borders (not talking about the geographic kind). Promised to turn it into an Oxdown, but just did a search & didn’t find it. I’ll see if I can find the actual comment.
check this out via TPM
introspective, sad, hopeful, restless…..
Hi Ishh, didn’t mean to talk over your previous faux news comment. we’re all on the same page for sure.
check out the links from eCahn. One is John Cleese saying Sorry Michael, but Michael Palin isn’t the funniest Palin any more. lol.
I sent TheraP’s remarks to a friend, which was easier to find than the original, so here they are:
Yep. But don’t worry, she’ll figure out her next move. There’s always a next move.
no worries!
I heard about the Cleese thing – brilliant.
Ruthless ambition
RWNJE views
I’m concerned that Obama has not denied their friendship outright. He keeps promising that Ayers will have no part in his administration and is not a part of his campaign. That is not good enough!
If he has or has had a provable social friendship with Ayers that the Repubs bring out right before the election…and/or that Michelle is somehow good friends with Bernadine Dorn…that is a huge problem.
Why doesn’t BO just come out and tell it like it is? His explanation is, so far, unsatisfactory to me. It is not that I care whether he is friends with him or not, it is that his denials are not convincing, and getting caught in a “truthiness” trap, is exactly what the Rovians want.
I’m getting worried about this.
I bet Roger Ailes is just dying to turn her into a media darling. She doesn’t have 1/10th the brains of Limbaugh, but look how Hannity thrives! And she can give Rich Lowry the vapors DURING A DEBATE!
If They lose she’ll be the scapegoat!
Who has access to eavesdropping and spying??? Bushco knows everything they need to know about how to trip up Barack. Hopefully, Barack came to that conclusion a long time ago…
He has LS. But the MSM isn’t that interested in reporting on it. He has said how he was appointed to the same educational board (by a separate person) that Ayers was on (who was apppointed by Annenberg). Count on McCain bringing it up and let O explain it to the whole nation. I think this is a non-issue and nothing to worry about i’m more concerned about voter caging
This is kind of O/T…
Thanks for reposting, eCahn. TheraP did a great job with that. I’m not a therapist, but did a lot of research when recovering from a relationship with a screaming borderline personality disordered person. I don’t know what is wrong with Palin, but I know enough to know something is seriously whack.
I also know that some people are highly skilled at presently their hollow selves as real people for a while. They do not take responsibility for any thing that goes wrong. They can’t. They see the world in absolute “what’s in it for me, how I can manipulate this person/object to do what I want or need?” There is no giving, only taking.
If you do not do what that hollow person needs you to do (according to them) then they do not “feel supported” as Palin puts it. Your job in their life is to make them look good. any person in the life of a hollow person is to completely sublimate yourself to that person’s emotional needs. Period. They have no other purpose or use for you. They are emotional vampires.
Even if you have given and given, the moment you stop giving them what they need, they toss you out the window like an empty beer can. Ironically, I will be watching to who becomes the first to toss the beer can, McCain or Palin? Because they are twins in this regard.
Fortunately, I stepped away from my toxic SIL before harm came to my kids. I consider her a danger to my family. She doesn’t do what she does intentionally, but that doesn’t make her any less dangerous.
sorry for the lengthy OT.
Wondering if the Ailes empire isn’t heading for a fall along with all his cronies. Wishful thinking, perhaps, but worth keeping in mind.
even more concerned about O’s safety given the shit I saw this morning
No doubt tricky Dick was a big liar.
I haven’t known anyone with textbook borderline personality disorder, but have known some who come close.
I recognize that Sarah has serious emotional disorders too, but am not knowledgeable enough to articulate what they are.
Sounds like you did the right thing in extracting yourself.
Keep losing my wireless, looking at half loaded pages!
WI-FI messed up keep losing you!
I think Obama dared McCain to bring up Ayers, and he’s stupid enough to do it tomorrow night. Then McCain’s gonna get hit with Keating and Abramoff.
Verrry funny. Fox Business News is advertising on CNBC. Taking well deserved pot shots at Cramer.
Holtz-Eakin & Goolsby on CNBC.
The record needs to be set regarding Bill Ayers and his so called comments about wishing he had bombed more. Here is his Letter to the Editor refuting the distortion of his interview that has given fuel to the Repubs. This must be made public:
http://billayers.wordpress.com…..9-15-2001/
” I wrote about Vietnamese lives as a personal American responsibility, then, and the hypocrisy of claiming an American innocence as we constructed and stoked an intricate and hideous chamber of death in Asia. Clearly I wrote and spoke about the export of violence and the government’s love affair with bombs. Just as clearly Dinitia Smith was interested in her journalistic angle and not the truth. This is not a question of being misunderstood or “taken out of context,” but of deliberate distortion.
Some readers apparently responded to her piece, published on the same day as the vicious terrorist attacks in New York and Washington, by associating my book with them. This is absurd. My memoir is from start to finish a condemnation of terrorism, of the indiscriminate murder of human beings, whether driven by fanaticism or official policy. It begins literally in the shadow of Hiroshima and comes of age in the killing fields of Southeast Asia. My book criticizes the American obsession with a clean and distanced violence, and the culture of thoughtlessness and carelessness that results from it. We are now witnessing crimes against humanity in our own land on an unthinkable scale, and I fear that we might soon see innocent people in other parts of the world as well as in the U.S. dying and suffering in response.
All that we witnessed September 11—the awful carnage and pain, the heroism of ordinary people—may drive us mad with grief and anger, or it may open us to hope in new ways. Perhaps precisely because we have suffered we can embrace the suffering of others and gather the necessary wisdom to resist the impulse to lash out randomly. The lessons of the anti-war movements of the 1960s and 70s may be more urgent now than ever.“
Thanks eCAHN. It’s the lack of borders that TheraP describes that make these people like Palin put others at risk. The Flyers puck dropping is a nice little case example. Protecting herself by taking her child into that situation because she feels the need to go there vs. protecting her child by not bringing Piper and/or cancelling the event to protect herself and her child.
Hello? Rationale Judgment?
They also really need the kids to be scapegoats for their mistakes. I put my foot down on all that crap.
Hey Loo Hoo!
I’m wondering if Obama would be better off calming the Ayers ‘panic’ by enlightening the debate watchers about Annenberg and Ayers friendships with prominent republicans, instead of playing tit-for-tat.
Thanks for that excellent link. Very informative. I think we really need to reach out to Alaskans, who are currently experiencing something akin to trauma and shock. They need support and encouragement for working so hard to do the right thing up there. Kudos, Alaska!
The photo was taken down due to complaints and/or fears of promoting the nastiness…
“They are emotional vampires.”
I like it , an apt description of some people I know !
LOLz, I thought exactly the same thing!
FunnyD
For Republicans, anytime they avoid jail no matter how that is vindication. Being guilty has hell doesn’t enter into it.
Trauma and shock. very accurate description of what one feels when the scales fall off our eyes. liberating and scary, like learning how to fly.
a-HAHAHAHAHAH
Howie Klein is upstairs with:
Signs of Tsunami
my 68 goes to 53
gotcha billybugs! carry a big belt of garlic on ya…:P
I would not psychoanalyze Palin. Like most Republicans, she thinks rules are made for others, and is inherently distrustful of knowledge or professionalism because both leave her feeling inadequate.
thanks for sharing this LS. really interesting reading.
I would like to add that it won’t be enough to deny that Ayers is …whatever. People are angry. They need something or someone to blame. It won’t be enough to take away their scapegoat, the Obama camp will have to take all their verbal martial arts skilz to redirect that energy to a more appropriate target. I hope they can do that somehow.
Good but I still have it (saved it to show mr) It is vile. A noose next to Obama and the caption reads:
Asphyxiation
a breath taking experience
The Fucking Solution
I agree with you.
I just haven’t seen enough pushback on what Ayers actually said as opposed to the charges that are flying out of the mouths of the McCain/Bushco campaign and their surrogates…no one has countered or even discussed if he has been misquoted for fear of sounding like they are defending terrorism…it’s unfair at this point, but it needs to get out there. They are flat out making it up, and it is getting really dangerous for Obama. Their main charge is that he has no remorse and made comments on 9/11 saying that he wished more had been done….that is the twist…that he wishes he’d done more way back when and that he wishes they (AQ) had done more on 9/11…that is the insinuation.
Because you can’t fight bullshit just by telling the truth. By definition, the bullshit is just made up without regard for the truth, and if you waste time and effort debunking it, it requires no effort for the BS artist to just make up some more. Face it, it’s like Vince Foster, we’re going to be hearing about it for the next eight years as they try to delegitimize the Obama Administration, and debunking isn’t going to stop that any more than it did with Foster or Dan Rather.
They’ve been pounding Ayers for a month, and during that time McCain/Palin have been steadily sliding in the polls. It’s not going to suddenly start working a week before Election Day. If they had anything real, they would have brought it out by now.
There are aspects of this election to be concerned about (like vote suppression), but Ayers isn’t one of them.
I so hope you are right…really. Sigh. It all makes me sick to my stomach.
shivers. I’m glad they took it down. Horrible.
Former human being John Danforth earlier this morning, expressing deep concern over ACORN.
They will never stop, so we had better learn some things from the last 30 years and figure out a rhetorical battle plan.
The story has been pulled from Kos apparently.
That is exactly the very thing I’m so worried about.
Maybe I worry too much. I can’t do anything about it anyway. Ugh.
and she got her house for free a la ted stevens. Hopefully we’ll me spared more of this story come three weeks from now.
see
http://koulflo.wordpress.com/2…..ain-again/
i worry about it too but i know once he is elected, much of the ‘anger’ will subside.
Would you be talking about Mudflats?
Bush, Sr. (Iran/Contra)
Reagan (Iran/Contra, running for office while senile, having Carter’s breifing book, selling arms to Iran)
Bush, Jr. (Iraq, Spying on US citizens, cooking all enconomic numbers, cheating his way into office, US Attorney firings, EPA stonewalling, what else did I leave out?)
I don’t think Orwell would touch this nitwit with a 10 foot squib (or whatever people wrote with in those days). This is pure Rovian schtick, IMO. (:>
I just ordered a second hand copy of PEOPLE OF THE LIE by psychiatrist Scott Peck. I think it’s about people who live and tell lies and why—the psychopathology and pure evil of it.
I think McSame and Palin (and Bush, etc) qualify for the condition.
When I finish reading it, I will pass on a report.
Orwell wrote in the 30s and 40s, approximately.
