While I am certain the Chinese want Taiwan, they have shown themselves to be very cautious about approaching that tidbit. I think they are considering the broader international consequences of an outright grab as well as the domestic consequences. I do not think they will actually invade unless overtly provoked (which the Rethugs seem consistently intent on doing), but will try to lure them back into the fold. I do not think they will try to incorporate it anytime soon, owing to the existing political turmoil in the country. They do not need another domestic disturbance right now. Sooner or later, however, they are going to gulp it right down.
