From the article: As their campaign swirls down the electoral toilet, the McPalin people have moved well beyond chutzpah and into delusional self-parody.

It’s a beautiful thing to watch.

I keep reading this - the GOP campaign is biting the dust, down the drain, imploding, collapsing, etc. I think it may be, but the fact that people like us are aghast and disgusted with their conduct is hardly the evidence.

I recall when Reagan won the presidency I was (naively) shocked. I realized, of course, that the fact that EYE did nt know anyone who voted for him was irrelevant to the outcome. People hang out with people who are like minded.

No matter the polls, the blogs, the “news” coverage, I have deep concern that a.) McCain will win, b.) McCain will “win,” c.) Obama will will but be stripped of the title somehow, d.) there will be no election, e.) there will be an assassination, f.) I can’t imagine what because I am not good at thinking that way and I suspect most decent people aren’t.

I wish it were not so. I am fearful for this country and for the ives we would like to live, relatively free of oppression.

Actually Paxson pulled out when the FCC (which still had soime dcent Commissioners back in the 1990’s) insisted that they would have to have at least 50% educational material and that they would not be allowed to evangelize or fundraise on the channel for “ministries”. The Republicans in Congress attacked…threatened to eliminate entirely the non-commercial educational spectrum if the FCC did not relent. Which they did…allowing half the time of the Station to be made available to a “Home Shopping Network”!

WQEX-Pittsburgh

Paxson Admits McCain Met with Lobbyist Iseman

BTW The whole Vicki Iseman issue was distorted into a focua on whether he had an affair with her…rather than the real issue as to whether he acted in the interest of the Pittsburgh public in encouraging Paxson’s application before the FCC.

Apparently Palin was spreading more hate the other day by saying that Obama tried to get the Iraqi’s not to negotiate the Status of Forces agreement with the US.

But The Iraqi FM Said Obama Never Did Any Such Thing

And get this! The Foreign Minister says that he told several newspapers that Obama never tried to influence his countries position on this…repeatedly clarified this in interviews. But the reporters (or their editors) just left that out of the articles.

How interesting!

I posted on FDL that NYC banks and investment houses were broke 18 months ago.

I said these banks were bankrupt. And was told banks can’t go bankrupt.

Yeah, right.

Pittsburgh lost it’s Public TV station to a Religious Broadcaster (Paxson) as a consequence of McCain and the Republicans threats to the FCC.

And this is also why PBS shifted over to being ballyhooers of the Republicans over the last few years. They began to sell off their “non-commercial, educational” frequencies to commercial entities and televangelists. This allowed the PBS/CPB executive salaries to “be competitive” with those in private industry. So of course WQED was happy.

The losers were the people of Pittsburgh who fought the loss of their Public TV Station to Paxson…but were ultimately crushed by the Republicans…and John McCain.

I finally understand what McCain meant when he referred to “My fellow prisoners”.

We are all “prisoners” of the Bush Administration and Republican Party. Even McCain ;-)
