I found this comment in a report on the “re-centering” of scores from the college board published in 2002.

“Scores on the SAT V and SAT M tests are reported on a 200-to-800 scale. For about 30 years, the last digit ofthe three-digit score has been fixed at zero. Earlier, a fullthree-digit score was reported. The decision to fix the last digit at zero was made to discourage test-takers and score users from making arbitrary distinctions amongstudents with virtually identical test scores, distinctions that could not be justified on the basis of the number of questions used to assess the students’ mathematical or verbal proficiency. For example, a formula-score from a 60-item math test does not have the 601 pieces of information that a three-digit 200-to-800 scale implies. Thus fixing the last digit at zero effectively reduced the SAT scale to 61 points rather than 601.”

So it appears that some time in the seventies the procedure was changed. I happened to be in a cohort before they made the change. My scores both end in non-zero #’s. But it’s clear that Palin, who graduated in 1982, would not have been.

So I concede that the document must be a fake.

Sarah Palin seems to have separation problems – whether it’s separation of church and state, or separation of personal from professional concerns. With all that is going on with the economy and the war in Iraq, it’s a shame we have to expend energy on these petty abuses of power.

But she might have gotten her social security card after her parents moved to Alaska, when Sarah was still a child. It didn’t used to be that you had to get a social security card before cutting the umbilical cord, like now.

And just to be clear, the two-digit scores were NOT multiples of 10, but the 3-digit SAT scores were. I graduated HS in ‘79, don’t recall whether I took the SAT in Fall ‘78 or Spring ‘79.

I took the SAT in the late 70s, and my scores were multiples of 10 … as were the scores of everyone else I knew who took the test. Sub-scores were two-digit numbers. And I think you meant “multiples of 10″ rather than “whole numbers” … PSAT scores were also two-digit numbers (20-80 range both the math and verbal sections).

Sorry, but the SAT did give precise scores well into the 1980’s…anyone who took the test back in the 1970’s will tell you that it wasn’t in whole numbers.

Blub- I actually ran those SS#’s and found that they are not merely linked to Heath Palin’s SAT scores but all her Alaska State license applications and other things (tickets, court cases, etc)

I strongly suspect that they ARE her SS#’s…at least today. And does one have to get a SSN that corresponds to one’s birthplace? I received my first SSN when I was a teenager.

pictures of Palin’s SAT scores are obviously faked, scores were multiples of 10 and the ones shown for her are not

SAT scores are (imho) not all that great a measure of intelligence anyway; mostly they measure one’s ability to take standardized tests (and I say that as someone who does very well on standardized tests)

still, it’s easy to get suckered into this because quite frankly, Palin does not appear to be very bright

I still would like to know whether it is true that she is a ‘young earth’ creationist, and what are her views on evolution
