But I’m sure Peggy Noonan thinks this is all "fine." Just the base talking to the base, eh Peg?
Meanwhile, the Politico’s Jonathan Martin absurdly insists:
McCain has not called Obama "a terrorist."
That’s because he doesn’t have to. Ever hear of innuendo or guilt by association, Jon?

About Firedoglake
That is why I am so angry about this McCain campaign. He is literally playing with fire…
The element he’s throwing gasoline on is the element that has guns and chips on their shoulders.
McCain and Palin and his ghoulish squad of character assassins are telling all of these evangelicals and McVeigh wannabes that they are under threat of a foreign enemy taking over their government.
It’s dangerous as hell and they know what they are doing.
-G
On Sunday Noonan couldn’t have been much clearer that she abhored what was going on in the McCain campaign.
Doesn’t McCain say that he abhores this stuff also? Lies flow so easily from the mouths of Republics.
This so undermines a civil society. Where are the grown-ups?
McMiniMe up-whores this kind of rhetoric.
Posted this over at emptywheel’s this AM
Xenophobia by race, religion, and political belief has led to horrendous violence throughout our history. Those who incite this violence know that this may result.
Therefore they know or should have known that their actions were in reckless disregard to the safety of those against whom they incite.
I fear for my country at this time.
I am so disgusted with ignorance in this country.
We have spent *jack* on education, and look what it’s gotten us? A swath of people who are no smarter than if we lived in post-plague Europe. Unbelievable. Call me an elitist if you must, but know that’s only a code word for Intelligent and Upstanding.
If you agree with these people – do yourself, your family, you country a favor – pick up a book and read. Read More than one! And stop believing everything you hear from your pulpit, from your one-and-only news source.
“Base” is the right word. “Terrorist” sounds more kosher than “n***er”.
[Mod Note; let’s please refrain from using racist terms.]
People are afraid. McCain/Palin give them a target for their anger and fear. These two, and their consultants, know what they are doing, right down to the “Who, me?” aspect of their denial when asked if they are whipping the base into a violent frenzy.
They will need to take responsibility for calming their storm troopers when November comes and goes.
It sure seems like McCain/Palin are trying to get Obama lynched.
Spit!
He’s counting on Teh Stupid to get the job done.
Right now, as I write this, McPalin are in a town hall meeting blaming the “bailout” on Obama, Chris Dodd, and Bernie Frank. It’s like they are throwing all of the ingredients into a big pot…toil, toil, boil and trouble..and toad’s noses..to create a spell to be carried out by others.
Pure evil Rovian tactics. The worst and most dangerous ever.
Just to be perfectly clear about where this is headed:
“Keep The N*gger Out Of Office”
http://www.thesmokinggun.com/a…..oter1.html
We’re already there.
surprised are ya?
Go ahead Racist America! Vote for the white guy and see what it gets you. Dana Perino thinks the answer to unemployment is to…wait for it…get a job!
it’s so simple for simple minded people.
Yom Kippur, 5769
New York City
Rabbi Daniel Cohen
Congregation Agudath Sholom
Stamford, Connecticut
Rabbi Barry Freundel
Kesher Israel Congregation
Washington, D.C.
Dear Rabbis Cohen and Freundel,
Please forgive the presumption — not only don’t we know one another, I’m the kind of ”cultural Jew” who makes even Reform Rabbis weep.
But as far as I can tell, now that Joe Lieberman and his family have moved from New Haven to Stamford, you, Rabbi Cohen, are his primary Rabbi in Connecticut. And you, Rabbi Freundel, lead the congregation where Sen. Lieberman worships in Washington.
Sen. McCain loves Joe Lieberman — he wanted him as his running mate, if press reports are accurate.
Sen. McCain listens to Joe Lieberman.
Sen. Lieberman is, if you will, John McCain’s rabbi.
So I thought I would write to you and ask you, as Sen. Lieberman’s rabbis, to talk to Sen. Lieberman about the hatred that the McCain-Palin campaign is encouraging — and the special understanding we Jews have of how that hatred plays out.
Why this public forum? Because I feel this is an urgent moment for American Jews. And because, in this moment, the men who can perhaps do the most to help us all — Jews, Gentiles and Muslims alike — should be identified and challenged to step up and do the right thing.
And make no mistake: Your voices do matter. If Joe Lieberman is the devout Jew he professes to be, you two are the most influential voices he can hear. He’d never listen to me. But to you — how can he turn away?
I often think about Kristallnacht, that terrible night in Germany when it became unmistakably clear what the Nazis intended for the Jews. Almost a hundred Jews murdered, tens of thousands deported, windows smashed, businesses seized — and hundreds of synagogues burned. Quite the ”November surprise,” if you will. But even after this horrific orgy of violence in 1938, there were many German Jews who didn’t get it, who thought they were safe, who thought this was where it ended.
Now we know better. We say ”Never again.” But look around you, gentlemen. History does repeat, and in this case, with spooky echoes of Germany’s darkest decade. A bad economy. A search for someone who can be dehumanized and blamed. The cries for ”justice”. And then….?
How would we recognize Kristallnacht if it happened today?
My fear: It’s on the horizon, and coming closer every day.
Today ”The Other” is Barack Obama. At a McCain-Palin rally the other day, there was a cry from a yahoo in the crowd: ”Off with his head!” John McCain and Sarah Palin have not condemned that man. Indeed, they promise to ratchet up their ”questions” about Obama in the final weeks of the campaign. At this point, it seems, they’d find nothing upsetting if the audiences at their rallies showed up with torches and pitchforks.
Jews, above all others, should fear this kind of hate speech. It may start with the demonization of one black man. Then it will move on to greedy Wall Streeters and ”Jewish bankers” and a ”liberal media” owned and controlled by Jews. [It’s already happening: The Anti-Defamation League reports ”a dramatic upsurge in anti-Semitic statements” on financial message boards on the Web. ] And then — it sounds crazy, but it sounded crazy to many Jews in Germany — the mob will come for us. Because that’s where this goes. It’s where it always goes. No matter where it starts, it ends with the Jews — we’re the ultimate ”Other.”
On your synagogue’s web site, Rabbi Cohen, I note that you have a large family. Six daughters? Mazel tov. We have only one, but she is as precious to us as your girls are to you and your wife, and the thought of having her wrenched from my hand at some 21st century equivalent of a railroad freight yard — it wakes me in the night.
I know I am asking a hard thing of you — to confront Joe Lieberman and ask him to talk to John McCain, and, if McCain won’t stop this madness, to call upon Sen. Lieberman to condemn his friend.
But maybe if I make this request both public and personal — maybe if I invoke the images of Germany, just seven decades ago — and ask that you do what you can to keep our children from harm, you will see how crucial this moment is to each and every Jew. And how much power you have to help us, all of us, who dare to hope for better from this country but find ourselves, in the middle of the night, awake and terrified.
A healthy and productive New Year to you and yours.
Jesse Kornbluth
Excellent ! Raven, do you have a link to this … I want to send it to my friend, Rabbi Gellman in New York …
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/…..33262.html
McCain is giving these people permission to do violence to others. He really is a stupid man.
Thanks, Raven. Quite appropro.
fwiw, they were/are in OH these days. Last night, even Cindy chimed in as the warm-up act for Sarah, eyes flashing, lips curling, spewing the nasties with obvious relish. The idea apparently is to have the 2 females wield the knives, and then John saunters in and sounds pressydental.
It’s awful in print. It was chilling to watch, absolutely curdled before the eyes. What stunted, sleazy, creepy, mental and spiritually deficient beings they are. Standing there in their elegant clothes, the disconnect is startling and sickening. These people are morally bankrupt. They want power that badly. Even Nixon didn’t go that low, nor Bush. These people are evil incarnate. OH should call for the hook and yank those goblins off the stage before Halloween.
Don’t you believe he’s stupid, that’s just what these fuckers want you to think.
But there are occasional rays of hope.
Dana is such a class act. Every time I see her, I just marvel.
True dat.
McSame Doesn’t. Care. about Anything. He’s hollow inside.
Well I think I know what you are getting at. I think he’s stupid and mean and a bully. He’s powerful, but he’s still a stupid man who doesn’t think about consequences. that makes him stupid to me. yes, he knows what he’s doing as far as stirring up the worst feelings in a group. he knows how to do that. but he’s a stupid man.
Now, in terms of the stupid label I will make and exception for Perino!
No, he’s smart mean and a bully. Motherfucker doesn’t care what happens.
Barack Obama calls McCain out for not having the guts to smear him in person.

Tawdry political ploy – Montana Republicans caught caging the vote
http://www.missoulian.com/arti…..news03.txt
Your fellow (Republican) citizens don’t want those who disagree with them to have the same rights they have.
This, in America?
OK. when I ask this just know that I’m not arguing with you. I’m curious what it is that you mean when you say he is smart. do you mean calculating? or what example are you thinking of. ’splain it to me like I’m…71. :P
BTW, please pardon my utter revulsion at his tactics that are presently making me throw up in my mouth a little.
Remember, Jonathan Martin is the tool Meghan McInsane gushed about in her famous video report (won’t link to it) from the Conglomerate Press Bar-b-que at the McInsane Sedona
complexcabin. Martin sent Sindy some flowers and that was, “Sooooooo….sweeeet!”It’s all out in the open. We don’t need to trust or listen to the Brokaws, Martins, or Dean Reynolds of the world. We all have options.
Well Raven does have a point. If McCain stirs up the “OMG I almost voted for a black guy, what was I thinking?” kind of doubts in people who are stupid enough to buy it (and there are lots of emotional voters out there) then woe is us.
That was the feeling I had when I watched the video – “terrorist” was a euphemism, at least judging by the smirks and the sideways looks.
Thousands of Troops Are Deployed on U.S. Streets Ready to Carry Out “Crowd Control”
Background: the First Brigade of the Third Infantry Division, three to four thousand soldiers, has been deployed in the United States as of October 1. Their stated mission is the form of crowd control they practiced in Iraq, subduing “unruly individuals,” and the management of a national emergency. I am in Seattle and heard from the brother of one of the soldiers that they are engaged in exercises now. Amy Goodman reported that an Army spokesperson confirmed that they will have access to lethal and non lethal crowd control technologies and tanks.
George Bush struck down Posse Comitatus, thus making it legal for military to patrol the U.S. He has also legally established that in the “War on Terror,” the U.S. is at war around the globe and thus the whole world is a battlefield. Thus the U.S. is also a battlefield.
He also led change to the 1807 Insurrection Act to give him far broader powers in the event of a loosely defined “insurrection” or many other “conditions” he has the power to identify. The Constitution allows the suspension of habeas corpus — habeas corpus prevents us from being seized by the state and held without trial — in the event of an “insurrection.” With his own army force now, his power to call a group of protesters or angry voters “insurgents” staging an “insurrection” is strengthened.
U.S. Rep. Brad Sherman of California said to Congress, captured on C-Span and viewable on YouTube, that individual members of the House were threatened with martial law within a week if they did not pass the bailout bill:

This is so great. Obama is just toying with McInsane now. John-boy getting so worked up and confused, and Obama keeps poking him with a stick.
http://talkingpointsmemo.com/archives/223089.php
“Say it to my face.” There’s some Grade-A basketball trash talking going on here.
Obama and Biden have been amping up the “erratic” theme recently so when McInsane does blow his top publicly, it’ll be proving their point. Damn, these guys are really, really good at the whole messaging thing.
Palin and McCain are cowards – they don’t have the guts to get up and say, “We believe we are better prepared to be the new Administration because…we’re white.” They have to use weasel words to act as codes – they need to be called out on it. We need to find someone who is a genuine racist, someone who is down and dirty scared out of their pants of non-white people..but who is going to vote for Obama.
Saw this last night, just before bedtime. Had a lot of trouble getting to sleep.
“This is so great. Obama is just toying with McInsane now. John-boy getting so worked up and confused, and Obama keeps poking him with a stick.”
C’mon, John. Show us that inner-”Captain Queeg” that’s crying to be let loose.

Peggy as a *cough* Patrician is saying its ok to say whatever you have to to humor the Plebian and she might be right.
These voters are uneducated sheep easily led by lies that confirm what they want to believe.
Us we are a bit fussier with our affections as the FISA vote and Bank Bailout Bill have proved.
Also we have control something this mob seems to be loosing. We go over issues more and do our own research. Some people here mostly the vets fought to keep us from going after McCain on his personal war record.
It has been tempting but going personal might be one slippery slope to lying.
Don’t see that mattering much. Those people just fall into the 40% that would never vote for Obama to begin with, plus they are offset by all the stories of the those saying, “I’m gonna vote for that n***er” which I’m hearing about a lot. We’re in a new era and the “rules” of the games in previous elections do not apply to this one for the most part.
Thanks for that. Love it!
That and the Obama shirt that just has that sun logo and “That One ‘08″ on it.
I think McSame campaign is in the process of digging such a deep canyon for themselves, they will never be able to climb out.
THEY themselves may not be stupid, but what they’re doing IS. It will backfire. I wonder who or what they will blame.
Still, I won’t breathe deeply again until this election is over. If memory serves, I finally opened up with my thots on danger from the inciting of the goon-squads last week on some FDL thread or other. I’ve felt it coming for weeks now. Yes. Scared witless. But that won’t stop us. We’re tough. Obama and Biden and their families are tough.
When I brought it up before, I suggested keeping a close eye on the hate monger blogs & radio. Little did I know the worst of the lot would be those “ladies” with the sleek-boutique clothes and control of the microphone. That part totally blind-sided me.
Perfect lipstick liner does not beauty make. Beauty comes from the inside out. These people are mentally bankrupt. Spewing hatred. Disgusting.
You are 110% correct. And that is EXACTLY what these people mean when they refer to Obama as a “terrorist.” Excellent point.
Of course, stupid implies he doesn’t know what he is doing.
Earlier I asked why Obama hadn’t attacked McBush on a variety of issues including his plan to pay banks full face value for battered mortgages. Well- apparently he DID today:
“Speaking at the start of a two-day bus tour through swing-state Ohio, Obama charged that McCain’s plan would force the government to absorb the full cost of renegotiating mortgages to prevent borrowers from losing their homes. He said lenders should share some of the costs of any program that attempts to stem the American financial crisis that grew out of questionable home-mortgage practices.
McCain put forward the mortgage rescue idea Tuesday night during the second presidential debate in a bid to recapture momentum in the historic 2008 campaign, where polls show him slipping in the polls both nationally and state-by-state. He said the government should spend $300 billion to buy up bad mortgages and re-negotiate them at lower interest rates to prevent foreclosures and keep threatened Americans in their homes. “
AP
heh heh. She’s just such a little pixie. I find myself mesmerized by her.
HOW on earth does she regurgitate those talking points with such flawless precision? An absolute carnival sideshow.
Thanks Buddy !
OK. Stupid to me means not knowing you are embarrassing anyone who is standing around you including yourself. He’s one effed up dude.
btw, another post on C&L about JoeLie saying he’s has lots to repent for…puke.
bbl.
McCain is behind in the polls he needs a game changer and when McCain needs a game changer he goes crazy. Picks Sarah as VP, Cancels his campaign, blows off David Letterman.
I’m hoping McCain publicly says something along those lines at the next debate after all loosing to an African American must be frustrating John must be wondering Where is the outrage, where are my peeps?
Politico is a joke. Pundits wedded to the status quo and power.
Those people just fall into the 40% that would never vote for Obama to begin
40% seems a little high?

Hillary dabbled in this game as well. We must never forget.
Lotta fascist women in America.
Your in Seattle same here we should get coffee
Probably about right—538 has calculated that an eight point victory margin is probably the ceiling for Obama- somewhere around 48-40 with the balance split among also rans.
At least in the South the Palin crowd is likely made up of readers of hate magazines like Richard Quinn’s “Southern Partisan”. McCain uses Quinn as a campaign adviser in the Carolinas, Alabama, Mississippi, Florida and Georgia and has given his businesses $170K to develop his campaign in those regions.
The “Southern Partisan” is a vitriolic, white supremicist, publication that has even advocated Confederate separatism and a reintroduction of segregation (or ethnic cleansing of those blacks who resist such new measures). It supported the use of the Confederate Battle Flag (not the traditional State Flags of these States, BTW- the “Stars and Bars motif was only introduced during the Confederacy, or replaced the original flag as a symbol of resistance during Jim Crow) as a necessary reminder of Southern “heritage”. It’s editorials raged against MLK and even once sold T-Shirts championing the assassination of Abraham Lincoln with the (utterly out of context) statement of Thomas Jefferson that “The tree of democracy must sometimes be fertilized by the blood of tyrants and patriots”, and “Sic Semper Tyrranis”.
I was adding them to the 30% who would vote for Jeffrey Dahmer if he had an “R” after his name.
Doubt if that crowd reads ANYTHING
if you’re trying to make us feel better, it’s not working. /s *shudder*
They are doing/have done(?) everything Nixon dreamed of, and more.
Does this explain why McCain voted against the King Holiday multiple times?
If he had an “R” after his name they would have invited him over for dinner.
How can these neanderthals be cut loose from America?
Whoa boy. If McInsane loses Gen. Patreus, he’s got nuthin.
http://tpmelectioncentral.talk…..do_thi.php
(hat tip to Spencer as well)
Yeesh…if only, and we would need to make sure Karl Rove attended that dinner party.
Southern Partisan has a circulation of 10,000 readers- so they must pass them copies around a lot.
how about a compromise tw’ u 2:
“stupid” as in “blindly deranged”
Ok, so the big question at the next debate should be some thing like this:
Senator McCain and Senator Obama: If there is any question about who the winner of the election in Nov is such as we had in 2000 and 2004, what would you do to keep the nation united?
CNN just ran a story about people not being allowed to park their cars in certain areas if they had Obama stickers on their cars
We’re gettin down ta the nut cuttin- the good general has to decide whether to fuck up his career by backing the loser for the presidency or ingratiate himself with the likely winner.
Generals are notorious suck ups.
Raytheon was smack dab in the middle of 9/11. It was one of their A-3 Skywarriors, fitted with Dov Zakheim’s “Sysplan Flight Termination” technology, that slammed into the Pentagon.
The Globalist Banksters figured out how to take Congress completely out of the oversight function of the US Government.
Congress was said to have “The Power Of The Purse.”
Rumsfeld and Zakheim depleted the Pentagon’s budget of $2.3 TRILLION – with Rummy announcing it less than 24 hours before the 9/11 attacks.
This meant that Congress would have no choice but to dump in a massive amount of money to fight the BOGUS WAR ON TERROR, which Rumsfeld himself created along with his Zionist Co-Conspirators.
Well prior to that time – prior to the Iran Contra Scandal, The INTELLIGENCE Complex figured out that that could completely circumvent Congress and accomplish any goal they chose by trafficking in cocaine and heroine – and using the profits to fund their operations.
A Shadow Government was created with these funds – with its own objectives – in concert with Israel and the Crown.
Congress is essentially powerless as long as the funding for the Shadow Government’s Operations comes from drug sale headed by one GHW Bush.
http://plungerspeaks.blogspot.com
If Obama wins- which is now an 85 percent probability- we are going to see some acting out that will be beyond belief…fasten yer seat belts- this is gonna be one hell of a ride.
Appoint them to executive positions at A.I.G.?
Oh, wait. That’s been done already.
Stupid, of course, is a relative term. McCain may know what he’s doing, but that doesn’t imply that he’s smart, either.
To wit:
His performance in the last two debates consisted of a mish mash of talking points and happy talk.
He swooped into Washington to save the economy and make sure he had a seat at the table, and then had nothing to say.
He graduated at the bottom of his class.
He chose Sarah Palin as his running mate.
People who are smart are self aware. They have an innate curiosity about the world around them and marvel at its complexity and mystery (which is not so much about stupidity as it is about humility). They are reasonably aware of the consequences of that what they say and do. McCain, by all appearances, lacks that self awareness.
McCain’s a stupid man, driven only by a lust for power and influence, in much the same way our current President is a stupid man, driven only by a lust for power and influence.
Was that done before or after the market tanked. falling Housing prices, a falling Dollar, high gas prices, a Bank Bailout, the Dow barely above 8,000 and thats the best we can do?
Roosevelt won 57% of the vote and carried all but six states. Historians and political scientists consider the 1932-36 elections a realigning election that created a new majority coalition for the Democrats, thus transforming American politics and starting what is called the “New Deal Party System” or (by political scientists) the Fifth Party System.[31]
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Franklin_D._Roosevelt
My Bold On second thought FDR’s first race didn’t crack 60% either I would be happy if we only lost 12 states.
I thot that 85% was just among Dems. via insta-polling after the last debate. Is it more solid than I thot? Wow!
Totally agree with the seat belt idea.
The General knows which way the wind is blowing providing cover for McCain could lead to an office job under Obama.
We do have to agree, don’t we, that when you look back, the man has never excelled at…. ANYTHING. Quite the opposite. hm-m-m.
Nate did that analysis just this week I believe.
He Obama is leading in states with somewhere around 320 electoral votes- which would be a very strong showing- but McCain keeps getting support in the low to mid forties.
Hi BT, fine post as usual.
What a bloody revealing video that is. A bunch of low info racists, people who are proud of their ignorance, and they know it too. Proud to be real murkins…
How can I visit my many friends from the states when I know 40% of americans hate foreigners, and they’ll go to town on my black girlfriend????
Bingo!
sorry. my #81 was for you.
The 85% is a probability of victory- not a head to head poll result. It’s from fivethirtyeight which does some very innovative stuff.
I have always planned on voting for Obama- but had several reservations. One was the FISA vote- and the other was the fact that his executive ability is untested…I’m still pissed about FISA- but the way he has managed his campaign makes me feel much better about his executive ability…McBush has been hapless by comparison. Obama seems to know how to form a team and lead them
I hope Obama does not fall for it. Colin Powell killed Gays in the military because Bill listened to him rather than his own supporters.
We don’t need GOP water carriers on the Iraq war giving Obama advice.
I think Generals should get paid on a performance curve.
Someone with 30 years of service could retire at 75% pay. Four stars make a pretty penny.
Was McCain always this clueless? Or is this something new?
Last chance department: having another debate will provide another chance to change a few more minds. Every debate is winning over more support for Obama. He’s that good, imo.
I know. I’m being a stupid optimist.
Is Bob Schieffer even remotely strong enough to control a good rousing zinger of a debate??? Or is he to “nice-guy-ish”? I honestly don’t know.
Great! Thanks.
I think you put your finger on it right there. Obama seems very bright, and healthy enough in the ego-department to have the ability and desire to surround himself with a high-quality team.
Ha! Schieffer almost had a heart attack when Gen. Wes Clark said on Face the Schieffer that being shot down isn’t a qualification to be Prez. He was flabbergasted that someone, a General no less, would question St. John.
Expect a very Brokaw-like performance. Schieffer’s liver is already pickled in cocktail weenie sauce.
I was thinking that every General who fought or advised Bush on the war should take a 30% pay cut because they have fought longer than we fought WW2 and they have not won the war.
That and I do believe that we have spent more too! I wonder if the cost of building the Atom bomb is included in the figures for WW2’s cost.
Plenty of places here in the U.S. where you are more than welcomed (with ot without the black girlfriend) My hubby and I are an interracial couple (he is from the UK, my family is from Brasil). While I am racially amiguous, I refer to myself as a blatina (black latina) and well hubby and I have never had anyone say boo to us.
If you really want to piss them off, remind them how Halle Berry has just been named Sexiest woman alive.
That video. *groan* *Moooooo* %? of our lovely voting public?
Actually they “once” had a circulation of 10,000…apparently the Assistant Editor just quit decrying the incompetence of the editor and the publisher…and pointed out the real circulation had dropped to 2400.
Apparently these racists have been losing a lot of support, and much of what we see is desperation. I think what they fear is the same thing that Whites in the South feared right after the 14th and 15th Amendments were passed. They fear an active, participatory black electorate in their States…but this time its going to be unified with a large number of whites and other minorities.
has a long history of reckless behavior and hot temper, as i’ve heard it.
as he’s aged, i see a very unsettling change in his demeanor. i don’t know if it’s just that he’s more often out in the glare of the cameras, or if it’s a real change.
i fear for intrusion of health and aging/mental changes that could de-rail an administration, and a country or several…. no joke.
sigh. yeah. groan….
The GOP voters in the video think Obama might be a terrorist but John will not attack Pakistan to get Ossama?
What twisted leaps of logic explains that kind of thinking?
I saw 538 earlier and he had Obama with 347 EVs. and a 90% win advantage now. This was before today’s polls I believe which might even improve those numbers. Freakin blowout and they won’t be able to steal it if Obama can maintain or grow these numbers. Time to really dig in bury the GOP creeps once and for all!
Well Clusterfuck kicked the shit out of him in the 2000 primary- after McCain had taken the lead- and although he “came from behind” to win the gooper primary- that was after pissing away every penny of his funds and becoming a general fuck up…
I suspect that he’s always been this way. Would LOVE to see the complete records of his “command” of the fighter wing in Florida.
I think the voters are seeing it too heck I want McCain on TV more it helps our cause, I really want McCain’s crowds on tv more.
Bum dia W.
True, We’ve never been booed either, but the looks… You know that look!
I think a part of our problem is that she looks so much younger than she is(looks 16, aged 38…), so, not only am I going out with a black woman, I’m a perverted sugar daddy…
The other issue is age. It’s been a long time since I lived in the south, but the twenty and thirty year olds are used to dealing with other races in a more or less equal way- so it’s the sixty somethings who are most likely to fear that sort of change (my guess anyway).
yep. well said.
petraeus a finger-in-the-wind type?

This election is generational– something overlooked by the OBVIOUS racial and ideological ramifications….
Young people just don’t but gooperism- and that’s a game changer.
LOL they’re just jealous that they can’t get a sweet young thing like they think you did.
The look has never gotten to us andon occasion when it was prolonged looks, we acted up a bit ( I seem to remember asking him to buy me that cute lil jet I wanted, LOL)
response was for Quebecois @ 102
Mcsame was arguing against himself on that issue during the last debate.
A number of audience members noticed, and guessed he was either lying/fudging/dodging or confused, I believe.
I was married to a native american. In SD it was real bad but most other places I did not feel any negative reactions.
My husband married me because he wanted his genes ‘muddled’ *g*
I’ve remember going out with a younger woman we were both over 21 but despite being 6 years older and looking it the bartender asked for my ID and not hers because he and she were white.
He was trying to get rid of me he hoped I was illegal or something but keep her at the bar despite the fact she did look a little young.
Typical guy the girl though thought that he was implying that I looked younger than her, so after the bartender spent 5 minutes examining my id as I explained I knew the bar owners sister the nite bartender.
She wiped out her I.D too which the bartender looked at for a second and handed back.
I think this guy was a GOP vote watcher or something. Needless to say we staid for only one drink.
Now that I think about it the day bartender might have been the owner, mentioning how cool his sister is was perfect!
LOL!
If Obama wins absolutely EVERYTHING that he has a faint chance of winning, the electoral vote could go to 380–but that’s like making twenty straight passes at the craps table…
300 plus or minus twenty seems more likely.
At any rate, a win’s a win.
Is he a distant cousin to Palin too
Good one. I take the stare, Then I kiss my mate. The disgust is mesurable…
But, there is a rise in that form of violence, as these folks feel that”That one” will become that president. I was reading EW’s fine piece.
So, moi, a man who confronts his fears, can only say, disgusted at his own frailties, that I am scared to go to the states at this point in time. I doubt I’ll be back til next february. I take responsability for my problem, I won’t blame those folks on the vid…
We’re all muddled. We’re all “mixed race.” I think younger generations get this much more than they’re parents.
Lets aim for 400
Egads, I think he would pass out. He has a link to the royal family so it is possible but unlike Palin, mr is partial to brown folks *g*
One of the bravest people I’ve seen in recent years was a young Black man tending the Democratic booth at my local state fair this past summer. In a sh**hole town comprised of 81% Whites and 3.2% Blacks, this brave man of slender build manned his volunteer post (around the corner from the morbidly obese White Republicans seated behind their bumper stickers reading “Obama-nation” – get it?? yuk yuk…) and politely offered to answer any questions I might have about the Democrats running in my state’s (Washington) election. He was such a soft spoken guy I was instantly touched by his lack of bravado and profound daring (how many people would be willing to brave the onslaught of the right-wing, evangelical, militarized, breeder-sow zombies that call themselves ‘rural folk’?) After all, I live just 2 towns over and I KNOW what kind of racist territory I live in. Because I blend in with all my wing-nut neighbors they feel comfortable enough to freely voice their thoughts (or lack therof) – and at least 60% of them are bigoted racists – and this is a BLUE state! (although east of the mountains it’s redder than McCain’s face) As for the pie-faced slobs manning the repulican booth – there wasn’t a speck of intelligent conversation regarding policy or issues coming from their corner. It was all about making fun of “them stoopid libruls.” I think nature is in the throes of creating a new form, and that our species is coming to a branch in the evolutionary tree. And since it seems apparent that those who refuse to believe in evolution also refuse to take part in it, we progressives may be a part of something so profoundly new and exciting, and unhampered by conservative nostalgia, whilst the 2-legged mastadons fall by the wayside, their crumbling fossils being all that remains to frighten the imaginations of small children. This presidential race is not about differing opinions, it’s about natural selection. Pure and simple. In the meanwhile, the scarey truth remains that the massive ignorance of these people is not going to magically turn to enlightenment
ifwhen Obama becomes President. So what are we to do?Unlike when FDR ran we count votes allot faster and we put the results on TV if Obama wins Ohio early will Western GOP voters bother to show up if the race looks like it is over?
If that happens Obama could win more states.
You have to do what makes you comfortable but we will be glad when you can come down and celebrate our new President, Barack Obama
hi firedogs,
surprised to see some folks still on this thread.
when I see this crap, I am not only embarrassed to belong to the same country, I’m embarrassed to belong to the same species.
let’s pray Daily Show and Colbert have some fun at these creature’s expense – lots of it !:D
I’m guessing the guy grew up in an all white area and had to be brave his whole life working at a polling place was a chance to tweak some noses.
Yeah if you go back far enough everyone is from mother africa but I LOOK muddled. Race will continue to be an issue until, as george carlin said, we keep fucking each other untilt he whole world is brown — demoncracy in action
So will I, so will I… Thanks.
i don’t know about you, but there are parts of the U.S. I wouldn’t dream of going to because I don’t look white
anytime *g*
same here but with each generation it is less an issue. I’m the product of lots of different races getting together and my kids will also reflect this. i think it is cool that one day it won’t even matter
I didn’t get the feeling that this guy had any agenda aside from wanting to share his passionate belief that Obama is the best qualified to become our next President. I just cringe to think of the remarks he must have heard from those leaving the Republican booth (which, at the fair, is always strategically located across from the booth displaying the bannerhead: “Will You Go To Heaven?”)
That could yield us AZ and MT. The one I want to see come over from the Dark Side is TX. Not very likely, but if Obama is polling at 54/38 in the last week, he should spend some good time there.
The ignorance and stupidity of the people who are susceptible to a mob mentality is staggering. Listening to those intellectually and emotionally deranged people was like listening to the lunatics who believe that our planet was created in six days or that it’s only 5000 years old. Listening to those people was like listening to the followers of Jim Jones, David Keresh, Reverend Sun Myung Moon or Charles Manson. Listening to those people was like hearing interviews of those German’s who defended Adolph Hitler’s motives and actions in exterminated 6,000,000 human beings for the good of the Fatherland.
Question: If Obama gets beat up for his relationship with Ayers, why isn’t McCain getting beat up for his relation ship to Keating?
what a great question; MSM, we are waiting for your response..
21st-century, “American[?],” “presidential[?],” political rallies in which participants are incited to clamor for the death [???!!!] of the opposing candidate?
My outrage-meter has been red-lined and pegged full-tilt these last, long, horrible eight years. But this is a new obscenity; another scurrilous, low depravity. Civic- and civil-minded citizens should, in effect, scoop this snarling mutt up by the scruff of his stiff, brittle neck — like a hapless pup that has crapped on the carpet — and rub his sorry nose in this shit until he yelps.
My mind goes to a scene in the 1982 epic film, Gandhi. Gandhi is engaged in a “fast to death,” attempting to quell the carnal upheaval in the wake of the partition of Pakistan. Nehru arrives to visit Mohandas K., and, as he is pushing through the gathered throng, someone shouts, “Death to Gandhi!”
“WHO!,” he cries out, launching himself into the crowd. “WHO would dare say such a thing!”
Ah, the good old days.
“Civic- and civil-minded citizens should, in effect, scoop this snarling mutt up by the scruff of his stiff, brittle neck — like a hapless pup that has crapped on the carpet — and rub his sorry nose in this shit until he yelps.”
HEY – where’d you learn how to treat a dog???? Jeez.
