Open letter to Senator McCain,

The American people day after day are watching their entire retirement savings go down the drain with the stock market. Many are losing their homes and jobs and many more are worrying about losing their homes and jobs and bank accounts. They are wondering if they’ll be able to fill their cars with gas so they can get to work, they are worring whether they’ll be able to pay their heat and light bills, wondering if they will have the health care when they and their families need it. Some are worring if their families, kids and grandkids will go to bed hungry and or homeless. When we turn on the tv and see what the stock market did and scream at the tv and ask how could we have trusted these banks and financial instutions with our money, our retirements accounts, our investments? How could our governement let companies merge and get so large and be so corrupt that just a few could put the entire world in ruins? How could our government, that you have been a part of for 26 years and your party had been in charge of the White House for 20 of the past 28 years, how in the world could you betray the American people and let the corporations and lobbyist and politicians steal our hard earned and long saved money and then gamble with it? How? How could the governement repay our hard work so disasterously?

Hearing that we may be having a world wide recession for 2 years why would we want to sit down after dinner and watch the news and see you berate a United States Senator that is running on the Democratic ticket, a party that more than half the citizens in this country belongs to? Did you forget how bad it felt when Candiate Bush’s campaign put out all those lies about you? I saw you say you would run a clean and honest campaign. Why have you lost your way? Don’t you have any respect for yourself? There are real financial troubles in this country and around the world right now and instead of addressing them in a Presidential manner and you are being the bully at the dinner table.

I also have a hunch that he was dosed with a stimulant in the first debate. tic-like eye blinking aside, he actually was speaking and thinking more crisply than I’m accustomed to seeing (which has nothing to do with agreement). Conventional wisdom is that after you listen to someone talk and think long enough, you start to notice more subtle changes from one time to the next. McCain’s inconsistency has caught my attention.
