Senator McCain, I come from a long line of Mavericks. My father was a Maverick, my grandfather and great-grandfather were Mavericks, all the way back to Samuel Augustus Maverick in the 1800s. And you, sir, are no Maverick.
Bob Casey was right.

I’ll bet “Sidekick” is Sarah’s nickname for John.
This is great!
Yeah, the San Antonio Express-News did a story a couple three months ago on the last of the “real” Mavericks. Even though the man has been dead for a few years now, it was quite obvious he was not a happy camper about the McCain attempt at branding.
Digg ‘em.
she DID say “the palin mccain administration”.
I wonder if john went nutz over that
Oops. I was talking about Maury Maverick, Jr, the brother of Terellita Maverick.
found the link
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/…..27567.html
He probably laughed and then fired some staffers.
That was classic when Casey said that wasn’t a maverick, that’s a sidekick
I am pretty sure right now he is blaming whoever it was that convinced him palin was a good choice for vp
and no, he did not think it up by himself
Seems like there was another Maverick that was a little less than honest

Probably makes them ride in the luggage compartment of the BS Express.
I hope it was Rover
John “Sidekick” McCain III
Love it. Bob Casey redeemed himself in my view. It’s a great line, wish we heard more of it. It sure would work well after all those “John McCain’s my good friend” lines Biden comes up with.
“That’s not a maverick — that’s a sidekick!”
the Straight Squawk Express has a sidecar.
Debate question: St. McCain, as a proponent of tax cuts for wealthy people like your wife, please explain how supply-side economics will benefit the rest of us?
7-11 has 3 colors of coffee cups, red white & blue. White is for undecided. Overall blue leads 58% and is ahead in every state where there are 7-11s.
Long ago, in early the 70s, I drove a ‘57 bus.
I switched to a ‘68 bus midway through the decade.
Who Bus
Magic Bus
Further!
anyone else thinking of Butch and the Sundance Kid when the Dream Posse is on their trail and they keep asking each other “who are those guys?”
McCain/Palin keep running away from the press and the truth and accountability.
OK, maybe it’s more like Blazing Saddles…
SNL’s skit did an awesome job with the McCain is my friend stuff.
Haha, Tweety (wow, get some sunscreen dude!) asks Axelrod if their approach is making McCain out to be like Captain Queeq.
priceless – as always ;~D
Someone behind tweety is holding up two signs. One has a picture of McShame and says Out of touch and dangerous; the other has a picture of Palin and says Out to lunch and brainless
serious?
man I would love to see that clip
nut-job Douglas Holtz-Eakin up on Hardballs.
says “if we’d stuck with the Clinton-era spending policies, we’d (be better off)”.
Is there anyone in the McGramps camp who knows how to play this game?
I wish that sidebus was a ford maverick, that would be interesting
I’d trade both of my buses for a chance to ride on Furthur.
I haven’t seen a single McCain sign….
It is on MSNBC now – when they show tweety with the crowd behind him.
With Neal drivin and flippn the hammer.
it’s time the press started “pressing” the issue, they need to hold their feet to the fire;
“is the mccain camp that embarrassed over sarah palin?…they are the people that told us palin can be president, now she has to prove it, or are they admitting the vice presidential candidate is too inept to give interview”
am working on computer, I hope somebody youtubes that
There is a couple
the mccain guy did a good job of mischaracterizing the entire year of campaigning…
Quite true!
Actually, the Pranksters spelled the name of their bus with two “u”s. I read a quote by Jerry Garcia once in which he said that to ride in a vehicle with Neil Cassady at the wheel was to fear for your life.
That is the guy that claimed McShame invented the blackberry
My daughter is a 7th grade honor roll student in the top public school district in CA (they gets lots of homework and make them do it too).
Anyway, the other day she asked me what a “maverick” is. I told her but also thought if a smart kid like her doesn’t know, the low info voters may be just as clueless. McSame may be just wasting his time and money on this theme.
IOW probably means as much to some as what the “achilles heel” question was to Palin.
are they admitting the vice presidential candidate is too inept to give interview”
let’s give them the benefit of the doubt.
After Sarah gets through whipping up racism, ‘Obama is a terrorist’, and that the media consists of communists, they’re concerned that their rabidly unhinged “supporters”, aka thugs, might actually attack anyone with a camera or microphone….
Prankster Bus Art.
“what is your achilles heal”
“I would like to answer that question by letting everyone know, this is such an honor, being here, being all maverickosity and stuff and speaking straight to the audience without having get fact checked on everythng, and I sure know that doing these things is full of maverickness”
jeez, the VP has to be smarter than me,
average isn’t good enough for that job.
sheesh, why do they want to run a country that is riddled with terrorists?
btw, there are one or two mccain signs in tweety’s crowd, but obama people hold the ground by far and block those signs. :]
maverick in this case means outcast.
Historical Bottom for a Bear Market? About Dow 6,000
Ian’s up
Ian upstairs
I’m all for casting out both those mavericks
I do wonder how someone can get a supposed college education and not know what the term “Achilles Heel” means.
To be fair, Palin DID demonstrate her Achilles heel, consisting of an inability to comprehend or answer a simple question.
[palin] I’m not going to be answering your questions, instead I’ll be speachifying, being all full of maverickishness, you might ask a question, I’m just gonna thumb through my index cards right here and pick out the card I didn’t read yet, now this might not be the card with the answer to any of your questions but that ain’t gonna stop be from reading it
I am a maverick after all”
maverick? she’s more of an appal-loosah.
mav·er·ick (mvr-k, mvrk)
n.
1. An unbranded range animal, especially a calf that has become separated from its mother, traditionally considered the property of the first person who brands it.
2. One that refuses to abide by the dictates of or resists adherence to a group; a dissenter.
which definition applies? you decide. My choice in bold.
don’t spend much time on campus huh?
Well, I think I learned the story of Achilles when I was in junior high so I was trying to give her plenty of room.
But it’s not like there are not a lot of opportunities to learn the story starting in Jr High, through HS Western Civilization classes through various college literature/philosophy/western civ/mythology classes.
I grew up in San Antonio and Maury Maverick, Jr. was one my Dad’s favorites. My earliest knowledge of politics was during the McCarthy years and Maury Maverick was one of the courageous people who stood up against the red scare. When someone introduced a bill in the Texas Legislature that would have made membership in the Communist Party susceptible to a death sentence, Maverick introduced an amendment which would have made the mere accuation of being a communist a reason for a life prison sentence. The bill was never passed into law.
Regardless of his background, it was never a problem for anyone — including Republicans and Chicago’s most powerful business leaders — to work with Ayers on Chicago’s public schools. In fact, Ayers is widely respected in the field of urban education.
”It was never a concern by any of us in the Chicago school reform movement that he had led a fugitive life years earlier,” said former Illinois state Republican Rep. Diana Nelson, who worked with both Obama and Ayers over the years. ”It’s ridiculous. There is no reason at all to smear Barack Obama with this association. It’s nonsensical, and it just makes me crazy. It’s so silly.”
Nelson says her fellow Republicans ”might snort when they hear the name Bill Ayers, because they know he comes from a wealthy family, they know he became a radical activist early in his life … but beyond just snorting, I don’t think anyone gives it another thought.”
”I don’t remember ever hearing anyone raise concerns or questions or concerns about [Ayers’] background,” says Anne Hallett, who has worked closely with Ayers on the Annenberg Challenge grant and with Obama on education and other community and legislative matters. ”And that included everybody I was engaged with,” including prominent Republicans, and corporate and civic leaders in Chicago, Hallett adds.
Hallett calls this attack on Obama’s association with Ayers and the Annenberg Challenge by further association, ”a smear campaign. It’s a political diatribe that has no basis in fact. The Chicago Annenberg Challenge was an extremely positive initiative. It was well-vetted, thorough, and the fact that it is now is being used for political purposes is, in my opinion, outrageous.”
