Palin accuses Obama of pallin around with “terrerists” well how about an Obama ad that shows that Palins hubby is a signed up member of a seperitist organization in Alaska and that she supports it to. Remember that the sheeple watch TV and unless Obama counters the BS that McCain/Palin are putting out-and that the MSM is taking a hugh gulp at-forgetting that Ayers has already been out there, brought up by HRC-it would seem that Brokaw has no idea how to do research before he attempts to spread the Palin rumors. Good Catch McCain after the Keating Five scandal claims that he changed he points to campaign fiance reform as proof that he has changed.
However this article shows that McCain was still doing things of questionable legality (I’m not a lawyer I hope its illegal ) for a CAMPAIGN contributor at taxpayer expense since the tax payers did not get fair value for the land in question.
The very sort of thing McCain’s Campaign Finance laws were suppose to prevent, the very thing that Taxpayers are worried about with the Bank Bailout.

I love how the video doesn’t just stop with Keating but comes to the present with Gramm and his role in the current meltdown. I think that’s even more incriminating, since it shows McCain, of all people, should have known to stay away from Gramm’s policies. Instead, he puts him in a leadership position in the campaign and likely in his administration if elected. If people start paying any real attention, he is toast.

I have been complaining on the late late nite and early morning threads for months maybe over a year that our economy was in trouble from bad home loans.
If anything I tried to warn people way before the talking heads on the business channels did or Secretary Paulson or Helicopter Ben.
I’m not that smart all of my stuff I got from the business and stock blogs so that means that other people knew about this too!

we have gas. i’ve given that as an example (at least 3 times today already) about how things are screwed up here, the state has no money for basic stuff and people don’t, I think, want to hear about Joe Sixpack, or Ayers or any of that crap. John McShame met Keating thru his FIL, a convicted felon, who, during his career, fronted for underworld mobster figures in the ownership of the Riudosa Downs horse racing track. And ultimately got into the liquor business in AZ where he ran afoul of the law.
Cindy Lou rushed out and bought a house in the district where the incumbent congress critter had resigned the very day of the announcment. Where did the money for that purchase come from as Cindy was not yet a heirous.
Are there any holdings in Cindy lou’s portfolio with any of the unsavory characters in their history.

I would ask this question. If that were the case why did Bush and the Congress which was controlled by the Republicans (except for one brief period in the Senate) between 2000-2006 not do something about it anytime during that time?

Maybe I am being to cynical….but in this video McCain raises his arms with no problem. Does that mean that his inability to do so now is from some other reason rather than injuries while is was a POW?

Powerful but I think it could be even more so if how the fraud was actually perpetrated and the kinds of folks who were directly affected had been included. The parallels between the folks who lost everything due to Keating and the folks who’s pensions, etc, are in the tank because of Gramm’s and McSFB’s deregulation mantra are too striking to ignore.

One of my problems with the “bailout” is that the investments that pension plans, etc, have in the investment banks, which hold the big shitpile, are just as worthless today as they were 2 weeks ago. Any investments they held in Lehman are a total loss.

Shouldn’t the Fed’s “recapture” those ill-gotten gains? Shouldn’t a condition of the cash infusion have been the surrender of executives’ stock & stock options?
