Dow is below 10,000 our timing could not be better. Florida with its retirees and Arizona the Home of Keatings Lincoln Savings and Loan should be our target audience.
But I am open to the idea of other targets.
Between renewed scrutiny of K5, the emerging “it’s OK to question the war hero” status (LA Times), the “brilliant” Palin selection, and the overall gutter-swill of the McLame campaign - his reputation will be left in tatters.
OK, its on the web. But what is needed is to put it out where the millions of people who are not on the “internets” can see it. What about some MSM commercials? Palin accuses Obama of pallin around with “terrerists” well how about an Obama ad that shows that Palins hubby is a signed up member of a seperitist organization in Alaska and that she supports it to. Remember that the sheeple watch TV and unless Obama counters the BS that McCain/Palin are putting out-and that the MSM is taking a hugh gulp at-forgetting that Ayers has already been out there, brought up by HRC-it would seem that Brokaw has no idea how to do research before he attempts to spread the Palin rumors. What, other than a way for the repigs to get free air time for their propaganda and outright lies, is the MSM actually good for??
Unlike the Ayers/Wright stuff, there’s no fudging with the McKeating stuff. It’s all just simple fact, and no guilt by association games and innuendo needs to be played.
I think Obama is telling McKeating to “Bring It On.”
OK, its on the web. But what is needed is to put it out where the millions of people who are not on the “internets” can see it. What about some MSM commercials?
Completely agree. Doing it only on a web-site is just preaching to the choir.
Gloves need to come *off* - not just loosened.
I sooo hope Johnny McInsane opens the door tomorrow night, and that Obama follows through it, totin’ Keating with him.
• In Virginia, SurveyUSA has Obama up 53%-43%, up from a 51%-45% Obama lead two weeks ago. The key internal number: McCain now has only a 52%-43% lead among white voters, while Obama is up 86%-13% among blacks. Also, the new Suffolk poll puts Obama ahead 51%-39%.
Downright shocking numbers in VA out today. Maybe we’ll get to see McKeating blow a gasket after all.
John-boy, you’re right. The only chance you have is to smear Obama. Yes, that’s it. You should double down and make Karl Rove blush with the viciousness you should use to attack Obama. You’re only Hope. Bring it on, buddy.
Although the bill called for the two parcels to be of equal value, a federal forestry official told a congressional committee that he was concerned that “the public would not receive fair value” for its land. A formal appraisal has not yet begun. A town official opposed to the swap said other Yavapai Ranch land sold nine years ago for about $2,000 per acre, while some of the prime commercial land near a parcel that the developers will get has brought as much as $120,000 per acre.
Good Catch McCain after the Keating Five scandal claims that he changed he points to campaign fiance reform as proof that he has changed.
However this article shows that McCain was still doing things of questionable legality (I’m not a lawyer I hope its illegal ) for a CAMPAIGN contributor at taxpayer expense since the tax payers did not get fair value for the land in question.
The very sort of thing McCain’s Campaign Finance laws were suppose to prevent, the very thing that Taxpayers are worried about with the Bank Bailout.
on the toobz, it gets picked up (at least in pieces) by the media without having to expend any campiagn funds. if you air it on teevee, you have to find someone willing to air it (good luck with that)
Florida? Did you say Florida?? My kids can’t go on school trips because the school district can’t afford gas for buses!!!!!!! Oh. Did I promise not to mention that any more? Sorry.
Obama looks at the camera and says. “I’m not going to answer the questions the way you want me to”, I want to talk about corruption and personal connections.
let’s also add to his failure as a pilot
talk about trust?…all mccain does is lie, this about his flying “mishaps”, mccain lies at every waking oportuniy, I had read that his pilot crashes weren’t documented as pilot error, now they are;
The newspaper said that when McCain was training in his AD-6 Skyraider in Texas in 1960, he slammed into Corpus Christi Bay and sheared the skin off his plane’s wings.
In his autobiography, McCain said the crash had occurred because “the engine quit,” but an investigation board at the Naval Aviation Safety Center found no evidence of engine failure, the report said
Oh, probably 10 to 1 since it is Brokaw. But we can still hope.
I love how the video doesn’t just stop with Keating but comes to the present with Gramm and his role in the current meltdown. I think that’s even more incriminating, since it shows McCain, of all people, should have known to stay away from Gramm’s policies. Instead, he puts him in a leadership position in the campaign and likely in his administration if elected. If people start paying any real attention, he is toast.
Dow is below 10,000 our timing could not be better
Just to clarify, you’re not happy people are losing their retirement, right? These are the types comments Repubs seize and say, “See, you Libs want people to suffer to win elections. Same way you want the terrorists to win in Iraq!!11!!1!” and stuff like this. Just something to think about I guess…
Hey, Jim. i just got a good feeling about our sunshiny state. Not confident. Yet. Just a good feeling ’bout the way things are going. Another time, this Ayers/terrorists/bomb civilians stuff may have gone over but the economy is too bad here. i don’t think it’s gonna take hold and may even backfire.
First I heard about it however I do not think you can say a personal story about our oil president’s failure to keep oil prices down enough.
Does your state have gas? Last week some of the pups from the southern states were talking about gas stations running out of gas and long lines.
I think that you may have hit it on the head. I’m figuring the Obama camp has the 30-second spots ready to go, and is only holding them until *McCain* himself starts in on Ayres, or some other such slime.
Probably wise to unleash them just yet, when only the Alaskan attack-poodle has been making the charges. To air anything in response to Da Guv would lend her unnecessary relevance and credibility.
Fuld of Lehman Brothers is testifying before Waxman’s committee. The questioning is fairly ineffectual. Members are critical but Fuld is being allowed to get away with his everything was fine until everything collapsed. It is a modified “No one could have predicted.”
I have been complaining on the late late nite and early morning threads for months maybe over a year that our economy was in trouble from bad home loans.
If anything I tried to warn people way before the talking heads on the business channels did or Secretary Paulson or Helicopter Ben.
I’m not that smart all of my stuff I got from the business and stock blogs so that means that other people knew about this too!
we have gas. i’ve given that as an example (at least 3 times today already) about how things are screwed up here, the state has no money for basic stuff and people don’t, I think, want to hear about Joe Sixpack, or Ayers or any of that crap. Or Keating for that matter. Fix this economy. we need tourists!!
Well wasn’t McCain like 58 with this keating stuff while Obama was 8 when ayers did his thing? I may be old fashioned here but I don’t hold an 8 year old to the same accountability as a 58 year old (snark)
I remember when the prediction of 3000 Dow Index was deemed astronomical (is that the word?). What was that, 25-30 years ago? And stocks have split many times over, since then. Still!
And yet when Fuld started out, I thought he was bitter and might turn on Paulson. Was sorry Waxman laid into him after that, I think he but Fuld on the defensive.
I feel that the Keating five story needs to go back further. John McShame met Keating thru his FIL, a convicted felon, who, during his career, fronted for underworld mobster figures in the ownership of the Riudosa Downs horse racing track. And ultimately got into the liquor business in AZ where he ran afoul of the law.
Cindy Lou rushed out and bought a house in the district where the incumbent congress critter had resigned the very day of the announcment. Where did the money for that purchase come from as Cindy was not yet a heirous.
Are there any holdings in Cindy lou’s portfolio with any of the unsavory characters in their history.
Couple that with how much Hillary Clinton spent on Ayers and other smears, and you’d think these people would realize that the old tricks don’t work anymore. We’re in a new era in politics.
Was at my parents’ over the weekend and my old man kept saying that this whole financial mess is strictly the fault of Fannie and Freddie — he downloads his brainware updates directly from Faux News.
It had nothing to do with deregulation or free-market fundamentalism — and the predatory lenders apparently are just a symptom of the Freddie and Fannie cancer.
That’s apparently the spin put out by the right these days.
Roosevelt won 57% of the vote and carried all but six states. Historians and political scientists consider the 1932-36 elections a realigning election that created a new majority coalition for the Democrats, thus transforming American politics and starting what is called the “New Deal Party System” or (by political scientists) the Fifth Party System.[31]
It had nothing to do with deregulation or free-market fundamentalism — and the predatory lenders apparently are just a symptom of the Freddie and Fannie cancer.
I would ask this question. If that were the case why did Bush and the Congress which was controlled by the Republicans (except for one brief period in the Senate) between 2000-2006 not do something about it anytime during that time?
Maybe I am being to cynical….but in this video McCain raises his arms with no problem. Does that mean that his inability to do so now is from some other reason rather than injuries while is was a POW?
Powerful but I think it could be even more so if how the fraud was actually perpetrated and the kinds of folks who were directly affected had been included. The parallels between the folks who lost everything due to Keating and the folks who’s pensions, etc, are in the tank because of Gramm’s and McSFB’s deregulation mantra are too striking to ignore.
One of my problems with the “bailout” is that the investments that pension plans, etc, have in the investment banks, which hold the big shitpile, are just as worthless today as they were 2 weeks ago. Any investments they held in Lehman are a total loss.
I’d like to see Waxman’s folks ask about stock sales by executives of the “bail-ees” — esp. the reports that Hank Greenburg sold $18 million of stock right after the infusion of Fed cash propped up his company’s [AIG] stock price.
Shouldn’t the Fed’s “recapture” those ill-gotten gains? Shouldn’t a condition of the cash infusion have been the surrender of executives’ stock & stock options?
Kinda like letting the robbers keep the cash they’ve taken, right after the Brinks truck refilled the bank’s larders.
WHO EXACTLY IS IT THAT WILL BE TALKING ABOUT KEATING??
Right now CNN, MSNBC and FOX have been carrying John MCCains campaign event live - uninterrupted –without commercials for close to 5 minutes now. Since when did the ‘news’ start broadcasting live full events??
Even Brian Lambb’s C-span has refused to carrying any current live Obama or Biden events.
They may have it ‘listed’ - C-span ‘looks fair; in writing only - but when you tune in - it’s an old repeat of something else.
Whoops MSNBC went to commercial - CNN and FOX are still airing McCain…
Rock ‘em Sock’em!
Breaking: McCain talks about Vicky Iseman, to defer attention from his role in the Keating5 scandal

Video’s a bit slow for online, but it does get the information out.
I guess we take it from here, no?

Snark?
Morning. I could use a good Keating 5 primer. Is Charles Keating still alive today? How much time did he serve in the clink?
Between renewed scrutiny of K5, the emerging “it’s OK to question the war hero” status (LA Times), the “brilliant” Palin selection, and the overall gutter-swill of the McLame campaign - his reputation will be left in tatters.
McShames shenanigans go well beyond the Keating Five. Let us not forget these guys.

I can’t even get the video to play over at keatingecomonics.com I hope that’s because traffic is so heavy.
I think the timing is perfect. Let’s get this going viral!

Speaking of FL retirees, did you see Holtz-Eakin say that McC would make up the shortfall in his medical plan by cutting back on Medicare?

I just went to the link we need a TV ad for this tidbit now. The GOP can’t win without Florida. Ballot Fraud and Coups are our only worries now:)
It bears getting this out via teh toobz because that will get the major talking points spread like wildfire via word of mouth …
I assume Obama won’t let that happen.

Brilliant timing! Lasso McCain to deregulation and protecting the fatcats with his own rope.
All he has to say is both the Rethug Pres candidate and his VP pick consort with felons; Ayres is not a felon.

Hah, so you noticed too. They’re not laying a glove on him.
Spread this enlightning article written in Rolling Stone. McCain is a scumba* !!

you gotta be kidding me. they must have seen this comming for months and that’s the rssponse?
Obama not Obaba.

5 days before going belly up you said that Lehman would not need any new loans. Did you mislead your investors?
Fuld: No.
And yet when Fuld started out, I thought he was bitter and might turn on Paulson. Was sorry Waxman laid into him after that, I think he but Fuld on the defensive.
oh, I’ve spread it out quite a bit, thanks.
and imo it’s ok to come right out and say “scumbag”.
ymmv, as apparently some here get a little bent when I express my own opinion…..
Yeah and high gas prices mean that people won’t drive to Florida.
thanks goodness for Kucinich, he’s the one bright light we’ve got in Congress
aHAHA
yeppers, shorter Rogers: ‘I know you are, but what am I ?’
ps: Ayres - the righties have spent $10 Million to date on this smear alone - with zero traction outside mouthbreather land

Just wait until after the debate.
yep, which is why I am starting to forward the lil stick figure explanation to the whole sub-prime junk to people.
Yes
I would ask this question. If that were the case why did Bush and the Congress which was controlled by the Republicans (except for one brief period in the Senate) between 2000-2006 not do something about it anytime during that time?
