I have met more than one Californian who has claimed that he or she did not have an accent. The same is true for my Chicagoan friend who moved down here to Austin. There is also a bit of prejudice with accents. There are accents that are accepted, and there are accents that are looked down upon as denoting a lack of education or intelligence.</p> <p>So- yes.
