I think my responses about Obama are pretty clear in that comment.
But unfortunately, his opponent makes that nearly a side issue - whether Obama is ‘on our side.”

why the dog gone it not post this BEFORE they played Iota last night. And also, they are really good also. However, if this is yr cup of mocha, go to CWA Headquarters on Friday night for the “Farewell to the Thief” release show (see below).

I would have gone to see them play and not go hunt lawyer w/ the VP, which, since, also, that in the Washington area, don’t you know, has got many lawyer and WY doesn’t and that is the only reason he came back here to DC anyway and not to take away our rights and of course not to give his company a “hand-up” (not a hand out like the communist in NOVA say) also.

Friday, October 10 at 8 PM in Washington, DC

Anne Feeney, George Mann, Julius Margolin, The DC Labor Chorus, Chris Chandler, Anne Hills.

A concert to celebrate the release of “Farewell to the Thief!”

Communications Workers of America Headquarters
501 3rd Street NW, Ground Floor conference center.

Admission $12– no one turned away for lack of funds! A great show, the first of our CD release parties/concerts featuring artists from the “Hail to the Thief!” CD series.

Here’s where we will probably tend to part ways.
Obama is no prize as a “Progressive” candidate.

He drove me crazy by suggesting that we should over-fund “Faith-Based” initiatives.
He clearly fucked us on FISA.
His taking a pass on the bailout was the latest letdown, almost predictable after the string of earlier policy disappointments.
And more. A lot more.

And in every case, as a Presidential candidate, I don’t see him having a wide choice. I strongly believe that prior to gaining the nomination, any deviation from the Dem Congressional line would have ended his candidacy. He needs these people behind him, and publicly excoriating them for their extraordinary complicity with Republicans would have simply ended him - as a Presidential candidate and as a Senator. Same deal in the general, as the Dems either cooperate or lose. Yeah, it’s not our dream of “Better Democrats,” but it is not as bad as the alternative.

And I am certain he will not be the bitterly partisan Leftist President i want, and I suspect that his willingness to reach across the aisle will be more like a reach-around.

But selise - there is John McCain. I have absolutely no doubt that McCain will make folks like Phil Gramm and Joe Lieberman and Lindsey Graham and other really, really terrible people, his guideposts. Obama - he could try eally hard and not find the same stripe of miscreant that McCain has in mind.
McCain completely lacks a moral center - of this I am convinced. Obama - not sure, but it’s admittedly a bet.

McCain is a disaster, period. Period.
That isn’t the choice any of us want, and it is a very long way from what we need. But it is what we have. As much as I would like to be ‘for’ something and someone, we are not there. I have to choose the political reality that we are better off being ‘against’ something, and someone.

I don’t get the same sense of Obama that get from Nancy. I have lived in her Congressional district, and I live on its edge right now. I have known of this woman for as long as I can remember.
But it’s still a bet.

“Loutish” is the most polite term that could be applied to him. *g*

Wrt to results of the election, I . will . not . allow . myself to hope…….it’s still too many days (and events) away. But, if it should go well, it will be a great pleasure to watch all their heads explode (metaphorically, of course) in the hours and days after the fact.

I was willing to hold a very dim hope, until we found that she had sat in on the Gang of 8 meetings, where interrogation methods and surveillance means were discussed, and she was opaque about it.

I admit to hoping that she was overmatched by BlueDogs and Hoyer, as opposed to weak, complicit, greedy, craven. Clearly, that was wrong.
