The problem was really acting up badly during his announcement of the suspension of his campaign. At that time, the bailout plan had only been announced for a few days, and he probably hadn’t been getting enough rest during that time due to discussions on how to respond to the crisis added to the top of his campaign schedule. He looked 100% better by that Friday, after being off the trail a few days, and he performed about as well as can be expected in the debate that day.</p> <p>His campaign probably figures that they could finally and absolutely lose the race in a single evening if their candidate were to decompensate into a full bore twitching episode in the middle of the stress of one of the two remaining debates. I get the distinct feeling that all the cramming and coaching in the world will not stop Caribou Barbie from doing what Caribou Barbie wants to do. </p> <p>When all is said and done, I think the “experts” will agree that McCain’s choice of running mate cost him the election.
